Being gluten free can be tough, but this restaurant offers gluten free pizzas and modifications to most entrees to make gluten free. Great spot! This was our 3rd trip to the area and we come here everytime and have never been disappointed. This time we were smart enough to make a reservation and was able to sit on the patio - which was fantastic. My bride ordered the Roasted Butternut pizza again ($18), and it was cooked perfectly again and she loved it. I went with the Bronzed Salmon ($28) and it was much better than I expected. While the prices have went up a fair amount since the first visit here three years ago, it's still worth it. Service from Emily and the team was friendly and prompt! read more

West First is a cute place in downtown Hendersonville. The food is very good and the servers treat you well. Lauren did a great job tonight, was attentive, but not overbearing. We enjoyed a salad and a nice bottle of rosé split between us. I had the mushroom pasta and my husband had the meat lovers pizza, then we shared the crème brûlée. Usually a very good meal, but was disappointed last night. Ordered the Chicken Parm, sauce was sparse and a lot of water underneath the pasta and pretty much had little or no flavor at all. Service was good, but food was not very good. read more

I prefer the supper menu to the lunch menu but both are good. It's just that the supper menu has more flavorful options. Speaking of flavorful, I had the blackened chicken pasta and I it was delicious. To quote a chef, it took me straight to Flavortown. My friend had the pizza special for the night and he gave either an 8 or a 9. He's a tough one to give that high of a rating so you know it had to be good. (I think it was sausage, mushrooms, peppers and onion?) I did try a piece of the crust because that's the base for any pizza and it had better be good, and it was delicious! read more

Nope! This review is specifically for the gluten free pizza and service. Ordered a specific gf pizza got a different gf pizza and took it because the vibes from the waiter (man) was not warm and fuzzy. The pizza crust (gf) is vile. Hard to eat. I was hungry and tried my best. I wanted to love this place. Let's face it. GF pizza is terrible. The other pizza everyone else was getting looked amazing and the host was very nice. We ate there Tuesday for my wife's birthday, and we had the best brick oven pizza we ever had in the area. I had the BBQ chicken pizza, and it was delicious. They serve wine from both Oregon & Washington State. They know this region is the best for American wine so I was pleased to have a glass of Pinot Noir. I stopped in here for dinner before going to a play. It's a nice looking room. I ordered the daily special pizza, as well as a side salad. The salad was a nicely-sized bowl of lettuce with cherry tomatoes and cucumbers. No notes here. However the pizza was, overall, a disappointment. It was topped with sliced beer sausage, potatoes, garlic, red onions and giardiniera. One "eats with their eyes first", and the first impression of this pizza was extreme austerity. There were six slices of sausage, which for an eight slice pizza meant two slices with no meat. There was maybe a tablespoon of giardiniera on the very center of the pizza, and what I would estimate was less than an eighth of an onion of sliced half-moons (7 or eight small pieces of onion haphazardly scattered). The outer 2/3 of the pizza was completely bare, save for cheese. The feeling was very much that they didn't prep enough ingredients for this special (I was there at 5:45pm) and needed to make them stretch. No matter what the reason, it was just a sad looking pie. Which is really too bad, in that the flavors were excellent. It just felt like someone made it who really didn't care. Looking around at other diners entrees, I didn't get that same sense of parsimony. Maybe I just ordered wrong. Service (seated at the bar) was very good. I would try this place again, but with some reservations. read more

Awesome little Pizza Joint downtown off of Main Street Service is fantastic and friendly. You're offer a drink as soon as you come in. The food is incredible with incredible flavors you just can't find anywhere else. This place is a must if you are going through the area for whatever reason. read more

West First used to be my go to restaurant. I stopped going months ago because I had one of the worst Margarita pizzas I have ever had. I decided to give it another try suspecting it was just an "off night". If you are looking for authentic Neapolitan-like Margarita pizza this is not the place to go. Way too much sauce that overwhelms any of the finer flavors in the crust, basil and mozzarella cheese. Service was fine as was the environment. In the past, the Margarita pizza was pretty good. Don't know why they changed the recipe to smother it in sauce. read more

We're patio type folks Our waitress was monotone - didn't really answer any question besides saying "yeah it's good" with not much enthusiasm and didn't seem to pay attention to parts of our order lol. We started with artichoke spinach dip it was really good very garlicky and chunks of artichoke yay Our salad was just what it said baby kale strawberries pumpkin seeds goat cheese n lemon mustard vinaigrette sans the walnuts - I stressed I had a tree nut allergy - but she was nearly to our table before she realized she did not have nuts removed lol The mushroom pizza was good thin crust which we like lots of garlic very tomato-y sauce but I prefer a lil more sweet note to my sauce but it was still good - the 11inch is plenty to share Overall a good experience! read more

Let me start with the big wood fired pizza oven was so cool and I love it was on display. The service was wonderful and everyone was so nice. I went with friends and we ordered a variety of appetizers and entrees. The appetizers were great, my friend had a beer and said it was good, but the food was overloaded with garlic. It was so strong that an hour after we put the leftovers in the fridge, that's all we could smell when it was opened - even after we threw it away outside. Also, the pizza had chunks of ham on it and they were a lot, and kind of unappetizing. Overall the food was ok, but not worth the price we paid. The atmosphere was fun and interesting, but at times it did get a bit loud because sounds were just bouncing off of all the hard surfaces. read more

Located in Hendersonville -- great spot and convenient location. The place itself is a bit small but charming, with a cozy vibe. They had a nice selection of pizzas, and the chefs working the ovens (possibly wood-fired, though I'm not 100% sure) were clearly talented. The pizza was excellent -- thin crust, just how I like it. I'd easily give the food a solid 9 out of 10. Now, you might wonder why this is a one-star review. If I could give zero, I would. It's not because of the kind gentleman behind the bar or the folks in the kitchen -- they were great. Unfortunately, our experience was completely ruined by our waitress, who also claimed to be the manager. Her attitude was dismissive, rude, and made us feel like we were an inconvenience just for being there. Because of that, we skipped desserts and drinks, finished our pizza, and left. How can you eat great food that tastes so good, yet leave with such a bitter taste in your mouth? Amazing! I was fighting between the spaghetti and meatballs and the pizza. Our waiter stated the spaghetti was back by popular demand so decision was made! I am so glad I got the pasta even though the pizzas looked equally amazing. Huge portion, homemade pasta and meatballs. Super saucy which I was a little worried about but it was perfect! What a neat Italian restaurant, the pizza oven was huge and they were spitting out pizzas in about 90 seconds.... Yep that's about the time it took to cook. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine, it came out just as good I had imagined. Tasted perfect, creamy goodness. The shrimp you have to add for about I think 7 dollars... that gets you 5 shrimp..... so get to cutting it up if you like shrimp with your pasta... Overall the atmosphere matches the good food.
