Beware of false "deals" and deceptive marketing. We currently have a lease with 4 months remaining on it with Barlow, and we have been inundated with calls, emails and mailers begging us to turn it in early because they really want our car. I spoke with a salesperson over the phone to confirm this, and was told to just come down once we decide upon the car options (color, interior, etc) to trade our car in early for the newest model. We were told that it didn't even matter if we were over our miles, we could drive off in a new model for the same as what we are paying now! Fast forward to yesterday, as my wife and I both took the morning off from work to come down to Barlow GMC. There was no "special offer" waiting for us when we got there. Instead, we sit and do the grueling back and forth in an office with a salesperson named Steve, who leaves us sitting in the office as he does the old "let me go run the numbers and see what we can do for you" shtick. He comes back some time later to inform us of the great news that our new lease will only be $200 more per month than our old lease. For the same exact car. Say what? That's not what these mailers and text messages and emails are telling us, Steve. "Oh, those are all auto-generated" he said. So for us to drive off with the same car that we have now will cost us an extra $7,000 by the end of the lease. No thanks. His parting advice to us as we left his office after a complete waste of our time was "you can blame Biden for this financial mess and leasing options!" Also be warned that GMC has gone to battle against Carmax. We have an ACTUAL offer from Carmax to purchase our car, but they are not allowed to buy it from us because we financed the lease through GMC. We could easily drop the car at Carmax today and walk away free and clear of any leasing mileage, but Carmax told us that we have to get approval from GMC. That type of control over customers has ensured that I don't do any future business with GMC. I love our car, but this hassle is not worth it. Lesson learned, and this is our last GMC and definitely the last time we step foot into the Barlow location. Do yourself a favor and save your time and money and car shop somewhere else. read more

My car died unexpectedly. I had it towed to Barlow Buick on a Wednesday. They said they were really busy and would not be able to look at my car until Monday. They called me early the following day saying my car needed a new engine for 6000. My car is a 2015 Buick, no prior issues. I am convinced they did not even look at my car. Instead they gave me the most expensive option to fix the car. I had to pay them 160 for looking at the car. Then I got it towed to a place near by and they fixed my car for under 100 dollars. It was a issue with the gas. Do NOT use their mechanics. They are lazy and money hungry. I called today requesting refund. Still waiting to hear back. Overpriced, their repairs are poor quality, they don't honor the warranty. Horrible experience, they charged me $1700 for a belt replacement after my engine overheated. They did a bad job on it, after a few hundred miles my engine overheated again due to the very same belt going bad. When I reached out to them regarding the warranty I got a big runaround from Dawn who promised to reimburse me for having to replace it again and for the tow I needed but I got nothing... their warranty is worthless, they don't actually honor it. Made an appointment to drop off a lease return with Dave Barlow and called a few hours prior to let him know that I wouldn't be there until an hour after the scheduled time. When I got there, he inspected the vehicle and took the plates off of it, but then told me that my account was flagged in the system. He then called GMAC to find out that they are closed in observation of the holiday. I am not sure why you, 1) Don't know your brand financing center is closed for the holiday, and 2) Why you didn't ensure all due diligence was done prior to said appointment. When I became justifiably irritated and I said I was not coming back another day, he tried to place the blame on me, saying I made the appointment through someone else(which was untrue). When I left, I made it a point to stop in John Barlow's office and make him aware of what had just happened. *Disclaimer- I have been a customer of Barlow GMC since 2014. This was my third leased vehicle with the dealership*. I explained that I had already purchased another vehicle elsewhere. He said that was fine.... and then said, "You know what, we will not do the lease turn in", and I needed to LEAVE and TAKE the vehicle with me. I refused and explained that I made an appointment two days prior and at no point was I informed that the account was flagged. I had called GMAC and was on hold 3 days prior.. I had the accurate account information, confirmed the last payment had been received ,and was made aware that I needed to call and arrange for return. I proceeded to leave, as instructed, at which time John came out into the parking lot and again demanded I take the car with me. Maybe he should have talked to Dave Barlow, because he took the tags off and had both keys in his possession. He insisted on yelling at me and said, "Who do you think you are?!" I replied ,"Have a great evening", and he continued! I cannot believe this man is Management, running out of a dealership and threatening me while he took his mask off to berate and demand that I take back a vehicle, in which I already made the proper arrangements two days prior to return! They did not provide me with any paperwork and now I have to be inconvenienced to deal with their financing, and hope & pray that they do the right thing and arrange for it to be picked up! Unprofessional and serious customer service/ management deficiencies at this location. Yup, so just like another person on here, I got the same standard response from the owner and I immediately replied via email as requested. It is now 3 weeks later and no response or care from anyone at Barlow. I would never recommend this dealership! How do they plan to stay in business when there is no customer service or customer retention? I have taken my truck to Pellegrino Chevrolet, who did not only try not to waste my money, but they were thorough and found the problem in under the estimated time given. After my scathing review of Barlow Buick, I received a message from Ed Barlow, President of Barlow Auto Group. He apologized for my negative experience and asked me to email him personally. He said he'd answer any and all questions that I may have. I wrote him immediately (June 17th) and unfortunately I still haven't heard anything from him. Call me crazy but it seems like his intention was to let all of the potential car buyers who may read my negative review think that he was actually concerned about the dishonest tactics employed by his business and that he'd rectify the issue. I gave him six days to respond to my email before writing another review because I didn't want to jump to conclusions but he gave me now choice. I guess dishonesty runs in the Barlow family. Just to recap, Barlow Buick advertised a car for a certain price and refused to honor that price when I inquired about it (after I wasted time test driving it). So, please DO NOT BE FOOLED. BAIT and SWITCH and FALSE ADVERTISING are serious and illegal tactics used by Barlow Buick and condoned by the owner. I am leasing a new gmc sierra slt. I worked with John LaSala. The entire deal was done over the phone due to covid and due to the distance between where I live and the dealership. After agreeing on a price and credit approval we met at a train station in the middle to sign paperwork and deliver the truck to me. At that meeting he spent about an hour walking me through all the features and made sure I could program my phone and garage transmitter and set up OnStar. I have had the vehicle for about 3 months and everything is great. It did take longer than expected to get the tags (as previous reviewers have written), but John was quick to FedEx me dealer tags prior to expiration when I needed them. I eventually got the tags and all is good. The only minor complaint is that they did not top off the diesel exhaust fluid. It came to me half full, which John explained was standard practice from factory and that I'd get a fill up at my first complimentary service appointment. read more

Buyer Beware!!! I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 2012 GMC Sierra here in April 2015 and have had nothing but problems with the truck. You would think the dealership would bend over backwards to make it right and they have not. The truck started to have issues with running rough in idle and the brakes squealed. It was back at the dealer in their shop less than a week after the purchase. Here we are mid-May and still having issues worse than before. The service department does not provide any update on the repair status at all. I've had to make numerous calls just to get someone on the phone that actually has an answer. I wrote a review on their Facebook page and actually received a brief response from the President of Barlow a few days later and he provided me his email address. So I sent him an email. Guess what? No response. Great customer service! Bottom line is do not trust these folks when buying used or CPO. Ask to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic and have it looked at and if they refuse to let you then they're clearly hiding something. Don't make the mistake I made in trusting these folks with putting a good product on the lot that lives up to or exceeds expectations. If you're in the same boat as me don't worry, you have options that'll get their attention that they can't ignore. You can file a complaint in 1 of 3 places: Consumer Affairs Office of Gloucester County, the BBB or directly with GM. The last option you have is to contact the National Association of Consumer Advocates and find legal presentation. Hopefully it never gets that far but at least know your options. read more

You are about to read a review of the worst dealership I visited during my search for a new car. I visited about 7 dealership last August/September. This dealership played phone tag with me for two weeks regarding the purchase of a new buick. They even managed to make me the best offer on a new lease beating every other offer by $30/month. So how could they possibly be getting 1 star? Here is how: 1. I went for a test drive, liked the car, sales associate ran some numbers. I left dealership saying I will think about it. 2. Sales associate calls just about everyday for the next week. Offering better and better deals. 3. I say the deal sounds great, can you please clean the car and I will come purchase. Associate says we need to run your credit first. My credit is run for the first time. 4. With a fresh credit inquiry and an autographed check I visit the dealership and behold the vehicle is not clean or ready (odd). I leave dealership, and get a call the next day about the mishap. 5. I say I will comeback tomorrow but have the vehicle clean and ready. Upon my return the vehicle is clean, but has small chips all over it( AND IT IS BRAND NEW). I ask what the chips are all over the hood. The salesman asks the detailer in front of me if the detailer went over the chips. He says yes but I could not get those out!! And there it is, weeks and weeks of phone tag, three visits to the location 2 inquiries on my credit report, and they tried to sell me a vehicle 2013 model year that was STATIONED AT THE SHORE DURING HURRICANE SANDY! Ah, no wonder the car was never cleaned. They don't want those little chips glistening in the sun! I asked if they would offer me the same deal on a similiar car in the lot. The answer was a defiant no. HA caught red handed, wasted two weeks of my time, and a few hours, 10 voicemails and another hour in talk time. They still had the audacity to call me the next day and offer me the other vehicle at a higher price. Guess what Barlow Buick? Barlow even managed to ruin the fact that I originally wanted a Buick. I went all the way to another dealership spent $60/month more and own a Cadillac now. Oh, they clean the cars there everyday too, they were doing it when I arrived. They treated me like the prince of friggen' Egypt, I think they are building a shrine to me there now. I still get calls asking about my purchase , if I am happy and if there is anything they can show me or help me with. I only have ONE credit inquiry from them(and I actually bought the car there). They service it for free, were polite when I bought it and installed aftermarket options for me as part of the deal. I get cookies when I show up and a handshake after my oil change. BUT I didn't need and don't need any of that! I needed a little integrity and customer service AND they had that, needless to say your place did not, does not, and probably will never. DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT BUYING A CAR HERE! Take your business anywhere else, I wanted to ride a bike around town after this experience. read more

Incompetent or dishonest? When working with car dealerships it's tough to tell. This morning I was online, saw an inventory of several GMC Denali pickups advertised at 20% off MSRP. I filled out an inquiry form regarding one of several Blue trucks and received a call around Noon. I made an appointment for 6pm and was emphatically told to call ahead if plans changed. A few minutes later I receive an email confirmation, noting that I would be meeting with John Barlow and the truck I wanted would be out front ready for a test drive. I arrive before 6, walk through the showroom that's completely empty of staff. I then walked the entire lot looking for the Blue GMC Denali finding only a 2017 version that's 15k more in a back corner of the lot. Finally back to the showroom where I find John Barlow. He knows nothing about the appointment and says the 2016 Blue Denali trucks were all sold in the morning. At that time I noticed a white truck out front, not that I'd ever buy a white one. Apparently instead of admitting they sold the vehicles when I spoke about making an appointment, they tried a bait and switch. Also apparent they have no regard for wasting my time even though they went out of their way to make sure I showed up on time or called ahead. Note if you check online now, they still list the blue trucks as available and in stock. Lesson learned. Don't waste your time dealing with these guys! read more

I went into the back seat for the first time a week after I purchased the 2018 and found the backseat carpet covered in either dog or cat hair. No one but me has driven the car and it's not my hair. I traded in my 2016 Encore for a 2018 because I was happy with the headlights on the 2016 - they were dangerious weak. I was told the 2018 had all the same features as the Encore I traded in - It does not. New car does not have ECO stop, or a CD player. Either there is a problem with the engine or it is a lot noisier than my 2016. I provided all this information in a survey they provided but no one has called. My temp tags expire in 4 days and no one has called. read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE FOR SERVICE OR SALES!!! I took my car in for an engine code regarding my catalytic converter. The business promised a loaner car once I dropped my car off for service. I took my car in earlier than scheduled due to engine misfiring, and they were not able to provide a loaner until my scheduled date which was a week later. They finally ran a diagnostic test 4 days after I had dropped it off. Being that the part I needed, a 2015 Chevy Cruze Catalytic converter was on a TWO MONTH BACKORDER, they revoked their promise of a loaner car. Clearly no normal person is able to go a week, let alone TWO MONTHS without their car. Being a college student, with an internship and a second job over the summer this is highly unacceptable. They expect me to pay $1,100 for the catalytic converter replacement, as well as paying for a rental car for TWO MONTHS (about $42/day). This is absolutely unacceptable. My great-grandfather was an employee at General Motors for 27 years and my Aunt was an employee for General Motors for 18 years. With their guidance, I bought a GM car; in fact this is my second GM car. I cannot believe that GM or Barlow GMC cannot do anything to help my situation since my family has been loyal GM car owners. If this is how you treat your loyal car owners, then you should be ashamed. read more

Horrible, I wouldn't recommend this dealership to my worst enemy. This was back at the end of April and it was the first time I would be purchasing a new vehicle. I went to look at a gmc sierra and the sales associate was rude. His name was ray and he kept continually saying I don't like to waste my time to me before, during and after the test drive. We started negotiations and he continued to be rude. We also talked to the manager (RJ) and he was extremely rude. I left there disgusted, they made me feel like crap and thank you ray for wasting my time because in the end I went to pointe gmc and bought a 50,000 dollar truck from them. I purchased a new Pontiac Solstice from Barlow some years ago. I was very happy with the sales department and the service was excellent. I continued to have the car serviced there on a regular basis. Always satisfied. Several months ago, it was once again time for a new car. I headed back to Barlow. Not so happy with sales department this time. I walked around their show room for at least ten minutes. Absolutely no one approached or greeted me. In disgust and anger, I left and purchased a Verano elsewhere that night. But I still take my car to Barlow for service. In a few years, when it is time for another new car, and if I am considering a Buick, I will again test their sales department. But in any case, regardless of where I buy the car, Barlow is my servicing dealer. If you are in the market for a car, I do recommend this place. If you can not make a deal with the sales people, you should still consider using the service center. read more

I brought my Gmc truck to the service department at the Barlow dealership hoping they could fix the problem of not starting. I left the truck there more than two weeks because they claimed they couldn't find the exact cause why it wouldn't start.So, they finally said they knew what the problem was and they ordered the part that they would replace. Pick up my truck and drove it home and it hasn't started since.Meanwhile,I'm still waiting for the part to come and it's almost been two months now. And my truck is still out of commission. I have yet to get a call from the service department to tell me if or when the part has arrived at the dealership. The service writer told me that it should have been at the GMC parts warehouse on September 22, 2016. It is now October1st, and I still have not heard from the Barlow service department . It is very rare that I write reviews, so rare that I even waited four days after my visit to Barlow GMC. Here is the situation: I had an appointment on 2/16/2016 at 9:30 and arrived a few minutes later. It was listed in the system the reason for my visit and I was checked in by a tall, older gentleman with glasses sitting on the far end. One hour passed, no update. Two hours pass, no update. Three hours pass and still no update. I politely ask the same older gentleman for an update and was greeted with a very rude like response. I instruct him as to where I would be sitting when he had an update. Minutes later he appeared and told me they were still running checks (with an arrogant smirk). I responded by saying it doesn't take three hours to run a check or fix an issue. If the system or the vehicle is not syncing with each other, it would be nice to update the customer. So three hours later, nothing had been done, not even changing a light bulb. Once I expressed this to the gentleman, he knew I was correct and smirked. What is the purpose of having an appointment? Am I to believe a servicemen was working on my truck for three hours straight? I don't think so, especially when I looked over periodically and never saw anyone working on the vehicle. I own a business and if we conducted business like this, we would be shut down. The fact of the matter is he didn't manage his serviceman correctly, he didn't follow-up with the customer nor was he polite to the customer. I have been to several dealerships and NEVER once experienced an issue as such. I heard about the service at Barlow at the gym and other places yet still scheduled only because of convenience. But no longer, I will gladly drive 25 or 30 miles away from home to be treated like a professional. His demeanor and arrogance was exuding and it took a great deal of restraint to not explode. Some questions to ponder: _Was the reason for the delay poor scheduling? _Does Barlow have qualified mechanics? _Are employees trained on how to address matters with customers? _An Undercover Boss like assessment should be performed. I took my car there when it first started acting up and they said it was the grounding wire, took a few days to fix it. Picked it up on a Friday, that sunday my car shut down while I was driving on a main highway and would not start again. After waiting an hour on a main highway, AAA towed the car back to Barlow. They looked at it and was told it was the catalytic converter and they placed a new battery and spark plugs and such. I pick it up on a Saturday after only having it back for not even an hour, while I was making a left turn the car shut down(if another car was coming the other way, I would have been hit.) My husband was able to start my car again and take it back to Barlow. We dropped the car off on Sat, they call us on Tues to tell us that it is a timing belt. So we do not hear again from Barlow, call on Friday for them to tell us that they were not able to get it on a lift to fix it due to other cars having to be fixed and it should be done Tues(8/26), well here we are on 8/30 and I still have not heard about my car or have gotten my car back. I am very dissatisfied, I was placed in dangerous situations 2 different times because of Barlow, and they do not seem to care. My car should have been priority over the other cars because they were not fixing what needed to be fixed!! I do not trust them and I don't know if I would ever buy a Buick again!! I will definitely pass this on to everyone that I can, I do not want anyone having to deal with what I am going through. read more
