ShipBikes.com uses FedEx for shipping. For an additional $5, you can use door-to-door service. We used this option and service was fantastic. Bike arrived 3 days later. Very easy and efficient. ShipBikes provides instructions for packing to prevent damage. Would use again if needed.

Too bad my experience was a time-wasting disappointment that's left me unimpressed with Lickton's organization and customer service. Long story short, I ordered a part clearly advertised on their website. Turns out they don't have it. But after accepting and confirming my order, they never communicated to me that they didn't have it. ...So I waited around checking the mail each day for my needed part (I had a century ride coming up) instead of obtaining the part elsewhere. Finally, I followed up with Lickton to check the status of my order number. Result? More disorganization and sloppy customer service, as Lickton did not respond to the online order status request I entered directly through their website but instead left me a voicemail (few days later) to call them (instead of just leaving me voicemail that they don't have the part?). When I returned the representative's call the next day with my order number, he didn't know why he left the message or what I was calling about. I had to explain it all over before I finally learned that they "don't have the part." That was more than three weeks ago. The part in question? Still on their website today.

All bike shops aren't equal. If you've been in a few I think you know what I'm talking about. I've…read morebeen an avid cyclist for decades and have had experiences in a ton of shops. Rudy's is a really good one. Took my custom road bike in for a tuneup once and they treated it like it was their own. The mechanic even asked if he could take it for a ride - he really loved it. (It's a vintage bike and quite spectacular if I do say so myself!). Even with vintage components they were able to work their magic and get it into perfect shape for another season of riding. When my wife's bike got stolen in broad daylight (it was locked and secured with a thick cable), we went right to Rudy's to buy a replacement. When they heard the story, they informed us that there is a national database of bikes listed as stolen. They offered to enter the serial number and picture (which we had) into the database should the bike ever be brought in to any participating dealer for service. Nothing has turned up but it's nice to know that such a resource exists. Every time I've been in there the people are friendly and the service is first rate. You can tell they really enjoy bikes and people who ride. Great place. My favorite bike shop in Chicago.

I ordered it with a deposit and they kept in touch throughout the process. I was pretty excited by the time I was able to drive out and pick up my new ride. What was very cool was how the folks working there came out to meet me and talk bikes for a bit. I got the impression they were genuinely excited for me. Anyhow, if you need a bike, bike service, or parts, I highly recommend Rudy's Cycle and Fitness (even if you're not super close). Can't beat a shop run by legit cycling fans.

Not the best selection of cycling apparel (bibs, jerseys) for me as a young road cyclist. They do have you covered on shoes and helmets, though. I've been meaning to stop by Kozy's for a long time. I've lived in Avondale for quite a few years,…read moreand have a number of friends who have purchased bikes/gear from here. I have heard nothing but great things, outside of a mild warning about how pricey it can get. Which makes sense if you're trying to purchase/take care of a nice bike from a high-end bike shop. It has been a while since I've owned a bike, so naturally I had a lot of questions--which might have initially made me feel stupid, especially because I was ALSO worried it would be an issue that I brought in a bike I purchased from somewhere else--but the Kozy team was amazing. Shekinah answered all of my questions simply and concisely. There was never an "upsell" vibe as she explained things, but as she walked me through the different options it was clear WHY she was recommending some of the more expensive items I was looking at. Specifically, she let me know why some of the longer/sturdier locks are more effective for protecting more of the frame (I went with the Abus Bordo 6055K LITE). She explained even further that someone would need significant time with some pretty heavy tools to break through the joints of the lock. It was all extremely helpful and informative. Especially for someone like myself, who commutes downtown and has concerns over theft. Shekinah got me set up with new handle grips (with some tips on how to install them effectively), an additional cable lock for my front tire (which will eventually be replaced by the locking prong for extra security), and ALSO removed a shitty bike rack for me that was rusted and ugly lol. She also looked over my new bike, reassured me that it was a solid purchase, and offered to have the mechanics take a look for a professional opinion. But I was satisfied and already knew at that point I'd be back if I ever needed anything. I'm REALLY happy that it was such a good first experience, because I was ready to get defensive if the bike dudes were rude, haha. But there was absolutely no reason for that, and I'll absolutely be back. It'll be my go-to bike shop for repairs, maintenance, or any other sort of upgrades. I should also mention, it also wasn't quite as expensive as I was anticipating. Everything was super reasonably priced for how high-end it was. Thank you Shekinah! There's nothing I appreciate more than someone who knows what she's talking about and can get me in/out of the shop quickly.
