A friend and I took our bikes in for a tune up ($65 a piece, which already is pricier than many other bike shops). I typically put around 20 miles a day on my bike and during the summer I bike 50+ a day regularly, so I was willing to spend the extra cash to make sure it was ready for the season. When I brought it in, I mentioned that my bike had been in an accident and I was worried about the fork because it looked bent and I was interested in purchasing a new one if possible. He assured me it was fine and not necessary and he would have them tuned up in a few days. After picking them up, we discovered that my friends tire was completely flat. We called them and they said they must've forgotten and offered to do it if we brought it back in. That should absolutely be part of a $65 tune up. No accommodations for the fact that we had to spend more time and gas to get there. When we picked up the bikes again, the chain was off and my friend, annoyed with the whole situation, took his bike and decided to do it himself. But here's where its gets worse and where I get livid. Not trusting this guys work, we took our bikes to a different shop who straight up told us that Bacardi basically robbed us. He also said that my fork is completely shot, showed me why it's dangerous to ride in its current state and refused to do any work on my bike until I got a new fork. This man barely touched our bikes and was willing to let me take off on a bike that was dangerous to ride, after taking $130 of our money and even more of our time. I don't know how this place runs a business. And if you'd like the number of the shop that actually helped us out, just message me, please don't go to Bacardi. read more

Truly disappointed in the work from this shop. Not only was my bike not even cleaned for a tune-up but the tires were not inflated. I had to bring it back. After bringing it back and addressing the tires I brought the bike home to find the chain off the crank. If they are missing these details who knows what else is overlooked. I am not returning a third time and I will be finding another shop. This is legit the most basic of services. read more

I live in 60641, and I work in 60641. Ever since I moved in to Portage Park I wanted to ride a bike to work, but at the time I did not feel safe and I opted for using the CTA. That did not work either, so I finally gave it up and drove to work every day. I never felt good about it, because it is a disaster environmentally, and it really makes not much sense to me to drive to work for a couple of miles a day. Anyway, forward 8 years, and now I have a feeling the city is more prepared for bikes. A quick google showed me Bacardi Bikes, and I liked what I read, so I headed there and met FIDEL. I told Fidel what my situation was, and he showed me a couple of options that made sense and fit my budget. I tried several bikes and finally decided to get the Fyxation pixel. He did not have the color I wanted, so he ordered it for me. In less than a week, the bike was ready to rock 'n' roll. The whole experience with Fidel was very pleasant. He is very knowledgeable, kind and gentle, and does not try to sell you an expensive bike, but the bike you need. Also, although the shop is not huge, I must say the selection was very good and the bikes Fidel has at the store are really all good looking. I paid with cash and he gave me 5%, just FYI. I am happy with my new bike and confident this is the bike I need. I am also happy I purchased it at Bacardi Bikes and I strongly encourage anybody looking to get a bike to stop by and talk to Fidel. Customer service is ok. I came in with a flat and it was a 6 hour wait to fix it. That's a bit weak.

Finally was able to participate in buying a bike from here! After passing by the windows, and buying tires/tubes/parts - my father-in law needed a good hybrid, but nothing that would break the bank. The selection is all over- fixed gear/hybrid/old/new/road/mountain, you name it. The employees are friendly, honest and know their bikes. The price was on point, and the condition was great, they check over all the mechanicals, and parts to be sure everything is tuned up and ready to go. The value of buying here is in the shape you receive the bike. You are not just buying a "used bike" - you are buying a used bike with a complete overhaul. If you don't want to spend a fortune but want a nice bike or maybe just an inexpensive option, check out what they have. They had a few really nice road bikes as well for the more "Serious rider". Also, they look to have a nice place for repairs, tune-ups or any parts you may need. Definitely will keep giving these guys my business! read more

I brought in an older schwin bike with seat issues. Owners Fidel and Matt (Father and Son) were fantastic. I just poped in and they we Very approachable and knowledgeable and was able to replace the stripped bolt and adjust the seat perectly to me right on the spot. My wife and I wanted to rent a bike on Sunday but we were told that they normally don't open on Sundays. However, they were very friendly and ended up opening the shop so we could rent bikes for a couple of hours. We ended up buying a few items we needed for our own bikes and I am definitely bringing in my bike for any future services. Stopped by a couple months ago to get new tires/inner tubes and to have my brakes adjusted. Fidel the owner was very nice and knowledgeable. When I first stopped by I left to go compare prices at a bike shop nearby. I immediately returned and had Fidel do the work. His prices were considerable less and the job was done in less than an hour. I later contacted Fidel about a bike pump I bought at the shop. He was at a community event bike ride, yet still answered the phone and even called me bike to inform about a YouTube video on the pump. Highly recommend Bacardi bikes. My bike was stolen and a neighbor gave me one of her old ones. I had to change the handlebars and get a lot of accessories for it, such as a rack, kickstand, light and mirror. Fidel at Bacardi Bikes was wonderful, and he got me all set up in less than a week. It's great to have a bike shop within walking distance of my home and the fact that it's not a heartless chain is the icing on the cake.
