Shout out to Melinda, Zee, and store Manager Mrs Cutler for amazing customer service. Its been almost 2 decades since Ive stepped into a Barns & Noble store. During Med school and undergrad this would be my "go to" to study, buy First Aid and other Books. Back in the day, i used to love buying CDs and once everything became online, the store visits became less frequent and things were simply shipped. Today I visited looking for a specific book, Medical Medium series and Melinda was kind enough to help me search for and locate my book. I found myself immersed in all the different genres, and accessories, toys , music and my gosh, there is something for everyone. I even loved the tarot section. Melinda was kind enough to hook me up with a new rewards card since mine was 20 years old and their system had changed. I ended up signing up for rewards, paid $39.99 for a year and received a lot of perks including a very cool tote bag. I scored one in my favorite color, and was even told during this time its double points for each purchase. Customer service was 10/10. The store itself organized, clean, and love the starbucks coffee shop inside where you can study and just chill out. Plenty of seating and tables. Thank you for making today's experience soo delightful. I was able to utilize gift cards that had been saved for over 20 years and put to good use today with ease. Definitely coming back to check out the tarot section and grab a cute book mark. Hot tip: they can price match BN.COM online with in-store prices and give you whatever is better. 30 day returns with receipt.

Barnes & Noble is my go-to spot for books, NOOK ebooks, magazines, music, movies, toys, and games. Walking into the store feels like heaven. I love the browsing experience and the huge selection of books. Even though I know I can often find better deals on Amazon, especially when comparing prices online, there's something special about shopping for physical books in person. It's a popular choice for book lovers who enjoy the in-store experience. The Starbucks inside is a great touch, you can grab a book and enjoy a coffee while you read. For me, reading physical books is a form of relaxation, and spending time in a bookstore feels like therapy. I always leave with my hands full of new reads. This Barnes & Noble is especially clean, and the staff here are fantastic!

I love this store very much because the books here are so much fun to look at, and also, the service and value are really nice.

Amazing study spot! I'm pretty particular about study locations and the music/noise level but this was perfect for me. The music is soft at a good level of background noise and everybody is generally quiet. I like sitting at the edge tables by the windows and you can find outlets. Free wifi of course and it's a strong connection. The baristas are also super kind and helpful with giving you suggestions. Easily could sit here for 4+ hours and I have always been really productive!

I have been coming here for over 10 years, and not only is it my favorite place, but it's my cat's favorite too.

I feel compelled to share the worst experience I have ever had in any store -- and heartbreakingly,…read moreit happened in a place I thought would be compassionate and respectful. A few months ago, after my husband and I tragically lost our son, he purchased a gold Saint Michael necklace for me from this store as a memorial gift. We also bought one for my father-in-law. Both necklaces tarnished, turning our skin green, even though we were reassured at the time of purchase that they would not. Because of the meaning behind this gift, I wanted to do the right thing and bring it back to see if the store could help. When I explained the situation calmly and respectfully, the blonde woman working there immediately became irritated. She told me she could only exchange for another one, or I pay more money to upgrade the chain -- one that was gold-filled instead of plated. I explained that we had already spent so much and could not afford to spend more, especially since we had been given incorrect information when we purchased it. I asked if a manager or owner might reconsider, given the situation. Instead of showing even the slightest compassion, she escalated. I called my husband- as he was the one that purchased it. She took the phone and he explained to her that when he was buying the necklace, someone told him it would not tarnish. They exchanged a sentence or two, she again immediately became even more agitated and rude and put my phone down saying she would not speak to him. Her tone became harsh, then aggressive. She began raising her voice, repeatedly cutting me off, and flatly telling me "that's the policy, we don't do refunds" with no willingness to even hear me out further. I tried to explain again that I wasn't asking for special treatment, only fairness, since we were misled. At that point, she started yelling at me, telling me she had already explained herself, and shockingly -- she threatened to call the police on me and kicked me out of the store. It was awful, odd, and honestly just the most bizarre experience I've ever had. Never in my life have I been treated with such hostility, especially when I remained calm, polite, and respectful the entire time. I even told her that I was pregnant again and that this situation was incredibly stressful for me, and she could not have cared less. Instead, she was threatening, dismissive, and completely devoid of compassion. For a store that sells religious items, this kind of treatment is appalling. This necklace was not just jewelry to me -- it was a memorial to my son. To be treated so coldly and aggressively while trying to resolve something so important was deeply painful and unforgettable in the worst way. I just bawled when I left - shocked and just honestly dumbfounded. This was the most unprofessional and cruel customer service experience I have ever encountered, and I would never recommend this store to anyone. I am only giving one star as leaving no stars is not even an option.

He asked if they would turn color. He was told they would not. They do not live in this area, but were here for an appt when they found out they had lost the baby. My daughter was back today and tried to return this and just called me in tears. She was just trying to exchange or return this. The gal that claimed to be the manager said they did not do returns. So my daughter called her husband and asked what they would like to do. The claimed manager became very rude. My son-in-law wanted to speak to to understand the exchange as he was told this would not happen. The manager became even more rude. Put the phone down and told my daughter she had explained her options twice. My daughter asked why she was being so rude why she was treating her that way. Then my daughter, said ok, she would just exchange it. Then the manager said she couldn't exchange it. She could just leave the store and threatened to call the police. My daughter explained she was pregnant again. The reason she came in the store originally was because of a bad experience and now she was pregnant and enduring a horrible experience at a religious store?? I will never shop at the store again. I will share with my church and my community to never shop at this store. Doesn't matter what your store policies are. The treatment of people speaks volumes. How they're associated with Christian faith I will never be convinced. Shame on you

**4-Star Yelp Review**…read more **Great Two-Story Barnes & Noble at Irvine Spectrum - With a Couple of Hiccups** I really enjoy this Barnes & Noble location at the Irvine Spectrum Center. It's one of the nicer bookstores in Orange County with a spacious, bright layout spread across **two full floors** and an impressive selection of books. From bestsellers and new releases to sci-fi, cookbooks, kids' sections, and more -- everything is well-organized and a pleasure to browse. Upstairs is still my favorite spot: grab a good coffee and a pastry from the café, then settle in with a book. The relaxed vibe makes it easy to unwind and read for a while. And the location can't be beat -- stepping outside into the lively Irvine Spectrum Center with its fountains, palm trees, shopping, and endless food options turns any visit into a fun outing. That said, during my recent visit the escalator wasn't working, so I had to take the stairs while carrying books and drinks, which was a bit inconvenient on a two-story store. The bathrooms were also out of service, which was disappointing. These maintenance issues knocked it down a notch for me. Overall, it's still a solid bookstore with a great atmosphere and unbeatable surroundings. Clean, well-stocked, and friendly staff make it worth visiting, just hope they get the escalator and restrooms fixed soon! **Visited: May 2026** **Would I return?** Yes, but I'd check the facilities first next time.

However, it was really hard to get any help. Staff are hard to find and clearly disinterested in helping customers for anything. My guy and I ended up getting some games from here cuz we really liked their assortment. But, wow! They were insanely pricey! Prices seem to have skyrocketed for most of the stuff they sell. I couldn't believe the prices for the fandom specific goodies (i.e. $50 for a small cookbook) and I was not inclined, at all, to get anything like that from here. I understand why people look for digital books instead of physical books. Can't beat the wonderful smell of books tho!
