I like this barnes and noble a lot more than the one in crossroads, it always seems a lot leas crowded. The have a Starbucks attached so the aroma of coffee sweeps around the store. They major disadvantage however is they have a paid parking lot. They seem be pretty kind though and will validate you when if you don't buy something. I love books. Therefore, I love Barnes & Noble. They go hand-in-hand. Yes, yes, I know that things are fairly overpriced in this store, but it's up to us book-lovers to support the ever-shrinking market of actual hard-backed books with thick pages and unbreakable binding (gasp!). When I was little, I used to spend HOURS in the kids section while my parents shopped for other things when books were more reasonably priced here. While the store's lost a little of its sparkle from a few years ago, I still love to go there, grab my favorite drink, and cozy up with a new book, my laptop, or an interesting magazine. read more

The Bellevue Barnes and Nobles is my favorite location in the greater Seattle area. This was the first Barnes and Nobles I had ever been to and this was the location I kept coming back to when I lived on the Eastside. The structure was originally built as a bowling alley and I love how Barnes and Nobles converted it into the bookstore it is today. The building is long a wide, allowing every section enough room so feels organized and spacious. There are a few chairs here and there if you're the kind of person who doesn't feel like buying. And like most Barnes and Nobles that I've been to, there is a Starbucks attached. But unlike other locations, this Starbucks has its own "room" of to the side. While many may disagree, I love this separation because it allows the Starbucks to manage its own space, which is also roomy, and hours of operation. The only downside to this location is the awkward parking. The lot is operated by a toll booth; parking is free if you have your ticket validated by B&N. The "parking police" showed up on holiday season in the late 90's and never left. Sigh... read more

With so many books to choose from, I tend to get lost in it because of how much I like certain ones that fit within what I want. The staffs were nice, place is always clean and tidy and there's more than enough parking for people who needed a place to park at. I don't like the fact that this place charges people to park but there's a way to get away with it. If you live close to the bookstore, you won't need to drive there just to save yourself some money. For now, we live close to it so there's no need to drive there. I like going to this location because of the many selections that this store have. First, the short answer: Two things: 1. If you want books, find a REAL book store...not a CHAIN. 2. If you are passionate about books, find a REAL bookseller (think mom & pop)...NOT a CHAIN. Barnes & Noble is NOT your answer, except in a gift-emergency. Now, the wordy answer: If you want books, go to real bookstores! This is an essembly line that has books in it. You like mechanized corporate America? Then shop here. Their employees have a minimal knowledge of what they're selling and are not PASSIONATE about books. I know. I worked there. Make no mistake. They're a LARGE corporation and treat their employees like something they've just scraped from the soles of their shoes. But the managers all speak "B&N-ese" and manager-speak so that they don't SOUND like they're ruffling your feathers. The smallest infractions can land you in the office being told that it's "strike one" or "two" and they add up to you're not "fitting in" their corporation. The managers are like surgeons and let their tongues be their scapels as they slice-and-dice your psyche. As I said, if you want to be surrounded by people who love books and can speak on any subject in their store, then go to a small store-front mom&pop outfit. You will be able to tell the moment you walk in the door! If you want to work in books, do NOT think B&N is your source for anything but a steady and LOW paycheck. It's always nice to hang out and relax at Barnes & Noble. They have a wide selection of books to select and read. They also have gifts and cool toys you can buy if you're looking for something cool. If you get tired and need your caffiene fix, they have a Starbucks next door. Parking is not free, but you can get your ticket validated for 1 hour. As always, the staff is nice and friendly. They are courteous and always willing to help their customers. I do enjoy the bookstore atmosphere. It is getting harder and harder to find a nice bookstore with the growth of the Internet and Kindles. I'm just happy Barnes and Noble is still around so I can touch and feel books. read more

If I was reviewing Barnes & Noble as a company I would review them as 5 stars. However, I am reviewing this individual Barnes & Noble location. Compared to other locations this is my least favorite Barnes and Noble. It is lacking character, charm and coziness. There are no comfy seats to be found!! just some hard benches in the back right before the music section starts. Just wish this location was a bit more cozy. You don't want to sit down and enjoy a good book here or check out the new in store selections on the nook. The great thing about the nook is the in store bonuses. This is not the location to spend time to check them out. read more

Nice, wide open design. Smaller than most. Needed something in the periodicals. This section is unique. Several long racks, some short ones. It was hard to find what I needed, but I found it. It looks like the place has private security. That was a little weird. I've been coming to this Barnes and Nobles since high school although I much preferred the now closed UVillage location (it made me feel smart studying by college students). So I'm familiar with the layout. Back in the late 1990's I'd park my car in their lot (before there was the silly gate) To be honest nothing has really changed since then. Back when it first opened- it felt massive and spacious- but time has not been good to this location. It seems overcrowded and with little room to maneuver around. I have a tandem stroller and I still kept bumping into things trying to make it down the main isle- which is now blocked as you enter with a NOOK stand. They do have a large selection of books, magazines and a nice Children's section- and of course a Starbucks. My 3rd star is for the fact it's an ACTUAL STARBUCKS- not a bookstore owned one so you get your stars and can use your reloadable giftcards! Overall- I won't go out of my way to come here. I don't like the parking (tiny as hell for such a large bookstore) the feeling of claustrophobia, and well the fact that the armchairs are still the armchairs from the 90's (which we all hope and pray they've been at least cleaned!!). I like this because it reminds me of high school days and well they have a Sbux! read more

I am a fan of this B&N. It has a huge selection and the staff is very nice. My one downside is the parking. You can't come to just browse for free. You need to show a receipt to get validation. I believe a purchase at the Starbucks also counts. read more

I'm not one to leave negative reviews for customer service alone, but my experience at Barnes & Noble yesterday was pretty awful. I had purchased 2 books as a Christmas gift early (in November) but the recipient already had them, so I brought them back to exchange them for a different book. The cashier (looked like perhaps a manager?) looked at the receipt and told me that the return timeframe was up and that "it says so riiight heeere on the receipt. See?" She did offer me a store credit "just this one time" and when the machine prompted me to swipe my card, I instinctively swiped my credit card (whoops!). The cashier responded in a very condescending tone by repeating her spiel about the return policy, this time very slowly. I felt spoken to like a 5-year-old who just got caught with her hands in the cookie jar. I do think that a 14-day return policy is terrible in this day & age and will admit that it surprised me. However, if I had been denied a refund due to my own poor planning, then that's life. There's a multitude of ways to inform a customer that their request cannot be accommodated, and none of them involve patronizing the customer. 2 stars because the book selection is pretty good and the person who helped me locate a book were very helpful. In the future, I'll save myself the unpleasant interactions (and a few bucks) and order from Amazon. read more

They have PUZZLES!!!!! Actual jigsaw puzzles! Yay! They also have board games in addition to the mountain of books. This is our favorite location as they usually have most of what we're looking for in stock and they never seem to really have a line. :-) Validated parking for the private lot and an attached Starbucks? I have been very happy with this branch as they have lots of books, a decent and clean Starbucks, and helpful staff. I can't give it four stars because the parking situation is so terrible. Paying for parking or getting your ticket stamped is not very welcoming, but I don't mind too much. It's really great the they have book signings and events frequently. read more

I've been here only a handful of times, so I kind of forgot how big this particular location seems to be :) There's lots of books, lots of room to walk around. Starbucks is right next door (I'd be surprised if it wasn't ;P ) which is always a nice touch to add a cup of coffee with your book. The only thing I don't like about this particular location is that you have to pay to park or get it validated. I mean, I usually am just an in-and-out type of shopper when I know what I'm getting, so it just makes it a little more inconvenient in my opinion to have to do it, but it's okay. This is your typical B&N setup-- there's nothing especially different about the store-- it's large and has a very good selection. But now that the entire commercial publishing industry is controlled by 5 publishers, it should be pretty damn easy to carry a relevant book. The travel, software, and religion sections seem to have a very wide selection at this particular store. This makes perfect sense now that I think about it. Charbuck's is next door, but I'll be found elsewhere reading books that no one ever reads, music that no one has ever heard, and appreciating paintings and statues that no one has ever seen because I am a sensitive artist (King Missle reference). I shop in the b&n often because it is close to home. On a busy day it is impossible to park. The lot is small. They do have a connected Starbucks, so that is a good thing. Seating is a premium. I normally have to plop down in the kids section. Don't think about returning something easily. I had purchased a book online and couldn't return it in store. I was amazed. That was a first. Must other stores allow it. Overall it is a typical b&n and nothing was anything but par for them read more

Brought my daughter here for a lego event they were having. The event seemed decently staffed and the selection in this store seemed immense. The big con here is the ridiculous paid parking system - this is reason enough for me to not come back. The store itself seems to have great selection however. read more

My husband and I usually go to Barnes & Noble in either Woodinville or Lynwood. It is one of our favorite stores! But this one in Bellevue had a specific book I wanted. When we got there, the staff stated they had the book, but could not find it. I asked about parking and was told that there was a 2 hour grace period for people at this store even if they don't buy anything and we shouldn't have to pay for parking. We were there for a total of 20 minutes. When we exited the parking lot, they STILL required us to pay for parking even though we didn't buy anything! I couldn't believe it. Left extremely frustrated with a wasted trip, no book, and less money in my pocket. read more

Okay so I usually do not go to this Barnes and nobles because I live in Renton. I stopped at this one because I happened to be close by. I found my book in no time and was in line within less than five minutes of being inside. I was the third person inline the cashier once done with the first couple in line was taken over by another girl so anyways this girl wasnt to sure of what she was doing so asked the first lady to help her. Now by this time there was about four more people behind me. After helping the girl the first lady leaves without opening another register! So I was in line for atleast 15min. Then none of the employees there happend to mention that they have to validate my parking or I will have to pay a fee. Overall customer service was terrible and I will never go back to this store. read more

I've noticed a few other people mentioning the parking situation and wanted to clarify! Yes, there is a lot with a parking attendant who makes you take a little card (similar to the mall on weekdays) but you can come into the store and get it validated even when you do not buy an item and therefore you wouldn't pay for parking! I used to hang out in this barnes and noble all the time when I worked in bellevue because they're like the only place in bellevue open past 9. This is a great Barnes, its never noisy but there really needs to be more chairs. The starbucks here is probably my favorite starbucks ever. The baristas really go above and beyond, and when I was coming here everyday they knew my name and exactly what drink I wanted. Sometimes they even gave me a complementary free shot of espresso when I looked extra tired! Its great in the morning and theres usually a couple open chairs, however it does have the tendancy to get very crowded and noisy, expecially towards 7ish. They also validate parking so theres really no excuse t=not to get something =) read more
