I've been wanting to visit Book Tree for the longest time! As a bibliophile, I try and support small bookstores wherever I go as much as possible and Book Tree was a shop that made this easy peasy. We visited Book Tree half an hour before it closed on a Saturday, so when we walked in, there was a small group of people sitting around in a small group. The owner warmly greeted us and mentioned that they had a visiting author here, but if we had any questions or needed help, to let him know. A book shop that has author readings and lectures? LOVE THIS ALREADY. Book Tree is located on Market Street, up the hill from downtown Kirkland. There was even designated street parking just for this store. The space isn't the largest, so they're not going to have everything here. But there are so many treasures to be found! They have a first edition of many books that are affordably priced. Most of the books are used here, which I prefer. But if you're looking for a new book, they have a few of that. You mostly come here, scanning through the shelves, bending down and looking through all sections because some of the books will be misplaced and it's a little untidy. But honestly, I love book stores like this because the hunt for a good book makes it al the more appealing! And you never know what you'll find. I was able to find a book that's not as common and easily found at other stores of one my favorite authors. Score! Book Tree is a must visit for any book worm in Kirkland and beyond! The owner is super friendly and welcoming of dogs and the store has a good selection of books to browse through and take home! BookTree is a neighborhood book store that is friendly, approachable, helpful, and also great at leaving you alone to browse, browse, and browse some more. Chris, the owner, boldly stepped up to provide the City of Kirkland its only bookstore. A couple of blocks north of the downtown area on Market Street, BookTree offer new and used books, a children's area in the back to relax, and often a beverage, some candies, and maybe even a baked treat towards the front. BookTree has a shelf with books for the various bookclubs in the local area and staff recommendations. Be sure to ask for help ordering a book for yourself or for your organization; they are more than happy to help. During our latest visit, we purchased five new and used books. Woot! read more

Support your local mom and pop bookshops! This shop has a huge selection of new and gently used books. This place is amazing, as is the owner Chris. Need a book? Neat, this place has your back. Need a specific book the shop doesn't have? Chris will order it for you. Want some sweets while you browse or read? Chocolates and refreshments are available. Need some peace and quiet? This is the place to be. Has nice plush chairs that are hard not to take a nap in. Want some cool hiking spot recommendations? Chris can give that to you. There are other book stores and then there is Book Tree. Even if I'm not in the current market for a new book, still a great place to just hang out. Inside out: I wish they were better words and more in the English language for cute. This place and body is the essence of holy comfort and adorable presentation. Like many homey bookstores it has suggestions written by the staff taped to the shelves and local artists wears on display. It's well organized and enjoyable to look through. The outside seems like one of those dreamy little bookstores you see in movies. The staff: perfectly helpful and not too overbearing. The staff is lovely the bathrooms are clean they have an adorable little reading nook in the back for kids reading time. I would say if you're in this area it's a very worthy place to visit. Since I'm not a native to the area I cannot join our book club but I can imagine that that would also be enjoyable. There is plenty of parking around the area but not right in front, I didn't mind the walk the area is beautiful! read more

I think there's a course all bookstore owners take in how to fit the most books in the least space (without affecting the claustrophobic.) But more than the quantity of the books is the quality. They have the new, they have the hard to find and the why hadn't I heard of this befores. Some interesting juxtapositions among the books on display. What a great find and only a couple blocks from main downtown (walking distance ). Absolutely wonderful selection with both new and slightly used books. Very well curated. Very cute, cozy shop too. Have some small gifts available too which I've bought. Owner is friendly and involved and have a book group too! What a delightful experience - we were greeted warmly by the owners and their sweet dog, and our seven-year-old was instructed to "jump on the beanbags, and then go look at the books" in the darling and well-stocked kids section. They recommended a great book to us of things to do in Seattle with children, and were just lovely to talk with. We appreciated their sincerity, and their love of sharing good books. We don't live close, but will certainly be back when we're in the area. read more

A small, locally owned bookshop just off of the main drag in Kirkland. Beautiful store front and well decorated shop. I heard about this store through the Seattle Times and decided to check them out Thanksgiving weekend, boy was I happy I did! Although the store itself has been open for a few weeks, it has a lot of the classic staples. The front of the store is dedicated to more rigorous readers, they have a wall of shelves dedicated to fiction and small shelves near the middle of the store for special interest. Be mindful, this store is still building up product so if there are particular books you are looking for call ahead and I'm sure they can procure them for you. I myself walked away with an obscure book on grammar, yes ironic but still a lot of fun. I typically enjoy smaller bookstores because I'm curious to see how individual owners curate their shops. If you're in the area, pop by and purchase something small if not to just bask in this lovely shop. read more

This is an excellent local bookshop. The owners are nice and helpful, and they have a wonderful selection of both newer works and lightly used older books. They have a wide price range as well, with many awesome finds under $10! The location is conveniently located on Market street-parking here is a breeze, and it's on the seattle metro 255 route. They have a book club that they run and they also have pieces of art from local artists. You have got to come if you are a bookworm who loves good conversation or looking for something new. They are also in walking distance of downtown Kirkland and Heritage Park! read more

Great little book store with fantastic selection. I went in today and the owner was there, and he was kind enough to give me some great recommendations. I don't think the books are necessarily the cheapest finds (some of the second hand ones are good deals), but at the same time I don't mind since it's a very clean, well run, pleasant local business. I'll be back again for sure! read more
