I absolutely love Barnes & Noble! Always have! Been going to various B&N bookstores for years. They are all pretty much the same. Same layout, same coffee shop, same sections, etc. But I just love going in and finding a few books or magazines and finding a comfy chair and just flipping through the pages. I also love their beautiful journals!!! They usually have a lot to choose from!! Also, pens , paper, puzzles, stationary section, lovely cards for different occasions. Also have a fun kids section with fun kids books and stuff. Amazingly large selection of magazine's. Just a fun place to visit! I usually stop in here whenever I am in the Valley area, just shopping for the day. read more

Overall, we love Barnes and noble and this was a clean, great store. However, I brought my kids and their friends. They were looking at books in the young readers section and found a book called spent. It's a comic book style book. They flipped through it and found some pretty pornagraphic images. Yes, they were drawings, but a butt naked lady and a guy with a strap on. I let the staff know and they did removed the rest of the copies from the kids section but the images are forever seared in my 12 year old daughter and her friend's minds. So we get to have a fun conversation and I get to talk to the other child parent. I did take a picture of one of the pages but I won't post it here. Hopefully staff will review books in the kids section a little closer going forward. read more

I really enjoy this store. I wish the employees actually wanted to help you find things but they avoid you like the plague or huddle in groups and pretend to not see you. Otherwise it's a nice store, plenty of options, good stationary section and of course a Cafe to sit and read, do homework, or hang out with friends. They even have some board games for public use which us cool. The store has some really good sales and it's nice when they bring in local authors so you can get more insight on the books. Their prices and sales are hit or miss, but they try! They also have blind date with a book! read more

We were in this store earlier this week to purchase a guest book for my brother-in-law's memorial service. It is a difficult time for our whole family, but especially for my sister. Sara (or Sarah?) was our cashier, and she was exceptionally helpful and kind. She made a very difficult day a little bit better. I had been buying all my books at Amazon, but not anymore. My family and I came to this Starbucks and the baristas there were unfriendly and put zero effort into our drinks. We welcomed them with a smile and a pleasant attitude and still tipped them, even though they gave us blank stares and did not reciprocate warmly at all. When we sat down to drink our beverage, we could see them talking amongst themselves as if they were talking about the people in the establishment. We were shocked. I remember always liking this spot. I don't know if they were just having a bad day, but it wasn't busy at all. It was surprising to say the least. I never write bad reviews, but the drink came out just as gross as their attitudes. read more

If you plan to avoid covid-19, you can not rely on the EMPLOYEES of this location to properly mask. I called to inform the manager and was yelled at. They said they didn't have to wear it unless they were with a customer. Clearly they have no idea how masks work. I would suggest using amazon.com, or another bookseller. read more

Although, the price of the books can often be found at far more reasonable prices elsewhere. Having worked for Barnes & Noble for six and a half years in my late teens and early twenties, I've a soft spot for this book behemoth. However, since moving to North Idaho last year, I've noted a glaring lack of bookstores. Sure, there are a couple here and there, but when you want to go to a brick and mortar store that has as close to everything you could possibly want, B&N is pretty much the only name in the game anymore. If you're in the Post Falls/Spokane area, this place isn't far at all. For me, I can only go on special occasions. Teaching over at North Idaho College, I zipped over on one of my longer lunch breaks to get a birthday present for my wife. It was about what you'd expect from a Barnes & Noble, if you've been to one before. There weren't an overabundance of booksellers to ask if I needed help with anything (which is fine, I know what I'm doing) but then, I also had earbuds in, which perhaps made me seem a little less approachable. All the sections I was interested in, mainly graphic novels, noir mystery and tarot decks, were decently stocked and well organized. Their newsstand was enormous and stocked with several literary and mystery magazines I didn't know existed any longer. I didn't notice any on the stands, so I'll say that I wish they had a selection of monthly comic books. In addition to teaching, I'm also a published comic book writer and artist, and have found the utter absence of comics in the panhandle region to be a much bigger bone of contention than I thought it would be prior to moving up here back in June. I'm giving this place five stars, however, because it presented me with a solid taste of the familiar and eased my frustration and homesickness more than a little bit. read more

If you want customer service at this location I would stay away from here. I live an hour away and when I called to check to make sure they had a book in stock they couldn't verify and would not walk over to see if it was on the shelf. They always have what I'm looking for. It is really nice that they have Wi-Fi so you can sit and read books on your electronic devices.

I love bookstores. I love the smell of books and their feel. I could spend hours just browsing all the shelves. Barnes and Noble has a good book selection, but on they're on the pricey side of the book spectrum. They do have a decent discount section of a little bit of everything. If you're wanting to browse you could easily lose track of time perusing the shelves. As for their CD area, it is extremely lacking. Over the years, it has become severely small and it mostly just carries the "popular" artists, so if you're looking for something a little off the norm, then you will most likely not find it here. I was told by one of the employees that they will eventually phase it out because of digital download world.....very disappointing. read more

Café employees always rude when I come in. Last week the barista seemed annoyed to take my order and today there was a barista talking with her friend for a few minutes. I asked if they were open and the woman scoffed and continued to talk. Maybe teach your employees at the cafe some customer service Barnes and Noble? They get one stars because the book employees are always nice but if I could give the cafe zero stars I would. I went in to purchase a book on its release date, having travelled across town to do so. The book was not in, the clerk gave no indication of when it would be in, didn't care to check, and was indifferent and annoyed I was even there. She didn't offer to take my contact info to let me know when the book would be in, she just wanted me out of the way and the next customer was clearly more important. A sarcastic, insincere "Sorry" is all I got. Always fun to be treated like that on my Birthday when I just wanted to by a book I was really looking forward to getting...on its release date no less. God forbid they actually have it on time, but then to be so defensive and dismissive. Last time I shop in that store ever. Failure! Thank God for Amazon. read more

I do agree with some that prices are too high here. But I enjoy browsing, especially the discount stuff. I have to also agree that very often you have to hunt to find someone to help you should you be looking for something specific. When you do find them, they are fairly friendly however. Like others have said, I love being around books and their friendly familiar smell. Even though I know it is not necessarily good for the environment, I prefer to hold a real book as opposed to a digital download, and this is a great place to get one's fix. I have noticed the digital age seems to be affecting selection of all things, not just CDs. I fear one day places like this will just be a fond memory. This is a really standard Barnes and Noble. The store is clean and well organized with helpful staff and plenty of inventory (so they won't be out of that book you made the trip for). They tend to be really expensive (just face value for everything). I love the physical store to browse for my next read...or to sit awhile and start reading something you are looking at buying. There are chairs and tables around the store you can use for this purpose if you like...and a little cafe to get a coffee and make a moment out of it:) Points for the increasing vinyl selection! Side Note - You can definitely find everything here on Amazon or even at BN.com for less. AND Barnes and Noble has an awesome marketplace (via BN.com) that sells used copies of books for even better prices (I have ordered about 20 and they are all in really good shape with minimal wear). You can use the store to do any returns you may have (even if you order from the other sellers on the site). read more

Lori was unnecessarily rude while taking my friend and I's order at the Starbucks inside Barnes and Noble. Her behavior was uncalled for and she should not work in this type of industry if she doesn't like customers. She was very rude when telling us they don't accept Starbucks payment even though we never mentioned we were using the Starbucks app to pay. When ordering and explaining an alteration to a drink, she made me feel like I didn't know what I was talking about even though I've worked at Starbucks and know how drinks are made. She was unnecessarily rude and explained that I was wrong. Instead of fighting with her I just accepted the drink how she wanted to make it. I also overheard how rude she was the next customers in line as well. This behavior should not go unnoticed and should be dealt with accordingly. read more

If you buy a book series, read it as many times as you are going to want to and then kiss it Goodbye. i bought two series and re-read some of the books because I enjoyed them. Now a few years later, the " Big Book in the sky" says I didn't buy the books and won't let me re-load them again. I thought we were in the computer age where these things could be kept so they know I bought the books once upon a time. read more

For those that know me I love books, more like obsessed really. Some have even stated that I have my own library & I would have to agree with them. I own 300+ books and it continues to grow. Almost all my books come from Barnes & Noble but a lot come from this store. I swear at one point the employees would know when I was coming & greet me at the door. My visits have slowed down but I still get treated well when I am there. The coffee shop is a great place to enjoy the books or use the wifi to get some school work done. Always a great selection of music playing as well. I so need to go to BA (books anonymous) but I just love them so much. It might be an expensive hobby but I have read some wonderful authors & stories that take you from London to the middle of the Arabian Desert. No matter what you read the selection here is good, the employees are fabulous, and the smell of books is welcoming. It feels like home ;-) read more

Worst customer service, ever. Had issue in the Starbucks there with quite possibly the rudest person I have ever had the misfortune to meet. Tiona was a very rude associate that lied to my face, three times, and refused to make my drink correctly. I left because I was so irate that if I would have stayed I would have been escorted out in handcuffs. When I call the store to get a manager, I have to listen to a 2 min long advertisement about a product I already own then there were no prompts telling me how to reach someone. So after randomly hitting numbers and being disconnected 4 times, I finally got someone to answer the bloody phone. I get a manager, Ashley, and she says, "Oh that's too bad." then starts making excuses. I don't want excuses, I want it dealt with accordingly. Her attitude was so lackadaisical and unprofessional that I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle her. Obviously that type of HORRIBLE customer service is passed down from management to employee because it is more than obvious that this store has NO leadership or sense of Customer Service at all. And they wonder why bookstores are becoming a thing of the past. read more

I walked in looking for a book, and completely forgot the title and author. But even with the description of the cover, she was able to figure out which book it was and put it right in my hands. After I purchased my book, I walked over to the cafe, which as it turns out is not a Starbucks. I hadn't a clue what I wanted to drink, so the barista I talked to was very nice and helpful. He suggested their new flavor, and offered a sample. Needless to say, I have a new favorite drink! Very impressed with their customer service, I'll be going again. read more

I love this bookstore it's big and has a really big selection. Though the only thing I find annoying is there's no carts or baskets to help you carry your books around. Only reason I give this four instead of five stars is that I prefer the quiet of a library over the noise of a bookstore; otherwise, great selection and wide variety - all kinds of books including cool book collections (mostly of classic fiction), movies, CDs, records, etc. Also, you can sit in the cafe reading a book and drinking your coffee. read more

I am the librarian for two middle schools in Post Falls, Idaho. I had the pleasure of contacting Lesley from your Barnes & Noble store. I wanted to start a section of books for our special needs kids since we had very few books for them at our middle schools. I asked Lesley if she could help with that. Well, not only was she willing to help with that via a book drive, but she also added some books for our other student at both schools. Because of Lesley's help, Barnes & Noble Spokane Valley donated three large boxes of books to each of our middle schools. What a HUGE blessing it was to receive these books! It actually brought tears to my eyes to now be able to put books into the hands of not only our special needs kids, but to many other students as well. Barnes & Noble, you should be ashamed. You advertised a "Harry Potter Magical Holiday Ball" and you had a tree and a few wrapped boxes (see posted photo). Seriously? You couldn't even be bothered to put up a few Harry Potter decorations? Your "activities" were a table in the kids section for cutting paper snowflakes and gluing pompom balls to little felt trees. You couldn't Google a few Harry Potter themed crafts or games? Your "giveaway" was guessing how many Christmas tree balls were in a bowl. What was the prize? We had no idea, and when I asked, you said you'd pick a winner "tomorrow." You advertised dancing and music. After waiting 45 minuted to see if anything would happen, I asked a staff member if they were going to play music, which seemed to prompt somone to turn up the background music louder. My kid was looking forward to this for two weeks. Apparently, lots of other people were, too. You had a crowd in quidditch robes and wizard costumes standing around looking disappointed. I guess your false advertising worked. We did wander around for awhile and bought a book for a gift. We won't be back, though. Barnes and Noble, you let us down. read more

The Barnes and noble bookstore staff are great and polite. However, I've been in twice to the Starbucks in the store and the staff there both times were dismissive when we asked questions and acted like they were annoyed with our business. They interrupted our order twice; once to talk to their co-workers. We even had to grab our own receipt cuz they left us standing by the counter alone for five minutes. Additionally, One of the staff members was wearing pajamas, which, though I advocate comfort, doesn't necessarily compliment already poor customer service. Hopefully they can improve cuz the store is great and pleasant to go in to. read more
