Decent Barnes and Noble with clean bathrooms and dining area. Service is meh hence the deduction in a star. I wasn't greeted or offered any assistance. This is a great location in the Mosaic District. It must be new because I have not seen it in the last couple of years I have been here. It is a large store with tons of books. It fits right in with the large amount of stores and restaurants in the area. There were several families and people there reading. It was very hot outside so it was nice to stay inside and do some reading. There is a Starbucks inside which provides great coffee drinks. I was able to get an iced coffee and sit down and read one of the new books. I spent a good amount of hours here hanging out. I love this addition to the Mosaic District. I hope this place picks up and more people come and review. I am a big fan of Barnes and Noble and will come back here again. read more

I stop by this spot to kill time now that my daughters take dance classes at a nearby studio.... and boy oh boy is my wallet hurting! This is a small format B&N but it has everything that you could ever want from latest novels (find me in the rom com aisle), children's books, magazines, and toys and gifts galore. After stopping by so many times, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased the B&N membership and I should be cashing in my first reward soon. Pro-Tip: The membership discount is GREAT for birthday presents. They also have a great selection of LEGOS. I recently worked with them for a PTA fundraiser and found the manager Rachel to be super fun and easy to work with. Now that COVID is a thing of the past (knock on wood) they have resumed story times every Saturday. read more

Eh, glad a Barnes and Noble is in the area but this location is small and some of it is taken up by the cafe and magazine area. Not a huge selection of books here and many of them are pricey. This location is okay you're already at Mosaic but I wouldn't make a special trip just to come here. read more

This is a very small location within Mosaic. Not sure why they would have a location here. If you really want to go to a Barnes and Noble you probably don't want to fight the crowd at Mosaic. They still have a section for games, magazines, and Harry Potter lol. There is also a corner for the BN Cafe where they do serve Starbucks. But there are not any outlets so this is not a good study/work spot. read more

I think this may be one of my favorite locations of B & N. Conveniently located smack dab in the middle of the Mosaic District, it's easily accessible from either end of the center. The store is always bright, clean and fully stoked. Staff is always courteous and helpful as soon as you step foot in the door!! Find your favorite book, discover some new ones or even pick up a drink and a snack from the cafe and you are go to go! If by chance they do not have the title you are looking for they always over for order it for you or offer a similar selection. I'll keep popping into this location whenever I am in the area. read more

First off I'm glad it's here. Nice to see a bookstore again. For awhile they weren't easy to find. Thank goodness this and others, are at least making a modest come back. This is smaller than you'll think. Still it has a pretty good selection. Friendly and knowledgeable staff make it quite pleasant. Also what makes this good, is that they have a Starbucks. It's nice to have a mocha frappe. This small kiosk can be rather busy sometimes. Best times to go here are weekdays to relax. The weekends are a little hectic, and I like to browse in relative peace. Also glad to have picked up the new Athlon NFL guide for this year today here. That's another reason to be happy! read more

Very clean and beautiful location; perfect to unwind after walking and shopping around. Loses a star just because it is a smaller location in comparison to tysons or fair lakes, so the selection is definitely limited. Still very organized and easy to maneuver throughout the store! I love bookstores! There's nothing better than picking up a book and getting lost in the words. It was a nice sized bookstore, not many seats, but there was a Starbucks to keep you bright awake! I ended up buying the Tiffany Haddish book called "Curse you with joy", & a more self help book called "The courage to be disliked". I spent less than $50 for the two, but am truly enjoying my reads. It could be good. It could be my favorite B & N. But it closes way too early. It would be a lot nicer if they stayed open until 10 or 10:30pm like the one at Tysons Corner before Covid. 8pm is too early especially for Mosaic. And Covid's over. Employees are not very friendly or helpful, sometimes downright mean. And whatever you do, don't go in after 7:15pm. The employees will aggressively inform you that closing time is at 8pm. And the countdown has already begun. And they'll continuously remind you every 5 minutes. They go out of their way to make you want to leave. Cool it. read more

I was lucky enough to be visiting Fairfax on opening day for the Barnes & Noble in the Mosaic District. Very warm welcome from the sales staff. There were a few specials for opening day, and I did not leave empty handed. It seems I always find something at Barnes & Noble that I "need"! One salesperson told me this was the smallest Barnes & Noble in the chain. Wonder why. Will this be a new trend? Might work in certain places. Seems to be a good addition to the Mosaic District. Will certainly be stopping by this Barnes & Noble on future visits to the area. read more

5/18/19 Meet a your man who works here and we had a nice conversation for 20 minutes on writing, reading and history of Games of Thrones. I don't remember his name now, but he was very cool and down to earth. I learned that this Barns and Nobles has been open for three weeks now. They are the smallest store in the country from what I heard. We looked around and saw books that got my interest. There are many novelists who have got my interest and inspires me to be my own novelist. The gentleman I meet earlier on said he wishes yo write is own books. Since my computer has had a meltdown, I am without a personal computer for the time being and it fucking sucks. Near the end of my walk around the store, I discovered a young novelist by the name of Missy Sheldrake who is a Fantasy Author/Illustrator. After our talk, she has given me more of a reason to self publish my own novels. Missy Sheldrake's pictures of her characters have now come to life in not only her mind, but to the minds of many of her readers. She started around the same time my ideas were in my head. She has shown me that hard work will get you to where you want to be. A lot of this was expressed just by how she talked to me and the features on her face. We now have two of her books and I plan on reading them as soon as my wife finishes Missy's first book. Heading into this Barns and Nobles has made my day more interesting. read more

Went to the grand opening and although the store was nice, it seemed more "bare bones" than their other locations. I understand it's the "more compact" version of their other stores, but I feel they spent less on furnishings as well. The cafe tables seemed less sturdy and they didn't have as many comfortable sofas. There was no where to charge devices, so it really feels like they want you in and out of their store as fast as possible. I was thrown off by their "greeting." They offered folks who came in a book of specials with a 20% off coupon. Both me and my friend was interested in buying something, but the sales lady asked if we wanted two or one. It seemed kind of a cheap thing during the grand opening. Let people refuse the free book. So I ended up not buying anything even though I probably would have if they gave us both the coupon. Either way, the grand opening was a little lack luster. My friend ordered two cookies and they only gave her one. We had to go back to get the second. If the store is smaller than other B&Ns, they should make up for it in impact. I felt it needed to be just a little more dramatic, memorable, or at least fancier. I felt like it was a toned down Starbucks with less charm. One good point- I appreciated the guest author (who was signing books) chatting with us though - at least he was welcoming! read more

PLEASE do not shop here!! After a long week, I came in here to buy a puzzle. I thought I saw that they were 50% off, but when I asked Kyah (the manager, apparently) about the higher-than-expected cost she viciously scolded me for not noticing that the sign said "buy one get one." She was so unnecessarily rude in response to my questions ..... customer service has gone downhill recently but it has been a while since I've been treated that rudely for no reason!!!! Then, thinking I'm not just going to let her get away with her yucky behavior, I turned around to ask her name after checking out and heard/saw her talking to the customers that were in line behind me about me!!! What a freaking monster. Put these sh* stores out of business. Pricier than online and the in-person experience does not justify it. Totally ruined my Friday. read more

I was so excited about having a book store in my neighborhood. I told everyone about it for months- then I saw they have a book club too! I was jazzed! I have been in this new book store 3 times and each time I have been followed around the store and questioned. Today while looking around, I was asked "what are you looking for" when I answered that I wasn't looking for anything the 'salesperson' asked "what specifically in this section are you looking for?" "Which of these books do you like?" "What kind of books do you like?" "I can take you to a different section" (what may I not look at the religious fiction?!?, it's not a literary masterpiece but I grew up on these Chastity stories!) All I could say was "no thank you" repeatedly. This is ridiculous. I've worked in many many book stores & that's not what customer service looks like. I was made to feel uncomfortable in a book store (next to a library, what's better than a bookstore!?!, this is supposed to be a chill happy place) in the neighborhood I live in. I am so let down. I wish I could get a refund on my membership now that I'm back to buying books at Target. read more
