I was in Folsom, so I decided to take a peak at this Barnes and Nobles. I think it's a little smaller than the one I go to, but I love the layout of it. It's wide. The aisles are not too crowded. The areas are spaced out. It's very tidy, clean and organized. The coffee and sitting area looks very comfortable. I have a mixed review for this brand new BN in Folsom. I love bookstores. Like a lot. It's one of my favorite things to do - hang out in a bookstore and drink coffee with my friends and husband. This location just opening before Christmas and we checked it out right away. It's in the Palladio Shopping Center in Folsom. This is a very nice outdoor mall. Parking can be confusing. I suggest just parking in the big lot and walking over to the store. Street parking is almost impossible and you'll just get frustrated. The front of the store is gorgeous - tons of windows and a big fountain out front. Very high end. The restaurant inside the store was about 30% - 40% of the total store! I was very surprised by this. I told my husband - "it's like a restaurant with a bookstore, instead of a bookstore with a restaurant." Definitely a new concept. It's a sit down restaurant. There is also a coffee bar. We did not try any food and I would like to go back when it's less crowded and have a meal. The store is very clean, bright and modern. Very appealing. The weird thing is, there are not a lot of books! We were looking for a few things and did not find what we were looking for. Also, big MINUS for me is the magazine section. SUPER SMALL and very inconvenient for customers. I would say the magazine area is 25% as large as a normal BN store. Also, the aisle in front of the magazines is very tight so it's even hard for someone to walk behind another person looking at the magazines. I hated that. There are no chairs to sit in to look at anything. My main reason nowadays for going to a bookstore is to buy magazines. So this is a fail for me. hi-ya! This barnes and noble has wine! the store feels super sterile and is very nice. The store is nice because it's cool to see books on shelves and being able to pickup a book instead of click on the synopsis is really nice. The bar area serves drinks and maybe even food. We stopped in and picked up a couple of books, but more or less browsed and took photos in the front by the fountain. The location is so clean and nice, and the staff was attentive. My comment about the sterile feeling is a good thing, but I felt like it was...like an Apple store. I can't explain it well, but it was a good experience...similar to shopping for a new iPhone. read more

Barnes & Noble and its adjacent Barnes & Noble Kitchen, both as a store and a concept, are sorely needed for so many reasons. If you love bookstores then that becomes the most obvious reason to come down. But if you also love quality food, coffee, a rotating tap of both local and national beers and a chill environment to relax while out shopping, this is also the perfect stop. When I'm done perusing (and purchasing) books, I venture into the "kitchen." The menu is as incredible as anything you'd find at a high-end Folsom restaurant, from the delicious breakfast sandwich on a butter croissant to the kale salad to the butterscotch pot de creme dessert. I've tried many a menu item, but my favorite thing to do is sit at the elevated bar, order an expertly-made latte and pound out some emails on my laptop. In short, there's something for everyone. Not only do they have all these bases covered, they are really the only coffee shop convenient to the Palladio and East Bidwell shopping centers. read more

Very large selection of books! Personally I think this is the best book store in town. Everyone that works here is very friendly and very helpful. All books are categorized to make it easy to find exactly what you need. They have a very home like feeling. Lots of comfortable chair and small couches so you can read and rest while you are there. They have a great selection of kids books! My daughter loves coming here! She looks forward to going and choosing a new book for bedtime stories. If you know what book you are looking for prior to coming you can search online to find which store has it in stock. What originated as one of 5 such concept stores for Barnes and Noble in the U.S., this B&N is unlike any other you've likely seen. Not only does it have its typical store it is accompanied by a bar that serves beer and a full kitchen restaurant. But what attracts me most to this location is the large study table located just between the bar and the tables for dining in. Years ago Barnes and Noble seems to have endeavored to make it impossible to study by rendering most outlets inoperable, this location is truly unique in that they encourage you to bring your computer and come to get some work done. If a beer or glass of wine isn't your favorite study companion, you can still get your typical Starbucks order like other locations. Because this store is located in the Palladio you'll want to park in a nearby ramp, and there is one not too far from the store, if you take a right upon entering the shopping center at the nearest entrance around the whole foods. I spent hours here completing my masters degree and never fail to find a seat for some studying or to walk out with one or two books either. This store is a unique B&N gem! read more

Went to Barnes and Noble for lunch recently, a woman named Brandy was my server and I can easily say it was one of the worst server experiences I have ever had. She disappeared for at least 20 minutes and another server came up and asked me if my table needed anything. I then saw her doing random things that were not included in being a server. At one point I believe she was sitting at a table in the restaurant, while my table had not been helped in a while. Then I noticed she seemed to be decorating with an assortment of books, you are a server, not an interior designer. I can't say enough good about this place! I'm so happy there is still a actual book store still around. I took my three young boys here and we went straight to the kids section. It was set for all the latest and most popular books, and there's a LEGO building area- right in the center. This makes the books more entertaining- all while the parents can shop and look around without the little ones touching everything! We ended up picking two amazing and fun books to add to our collection for home, and with that purchase, we were given a discounted price for a "on the shelf book-" we had two options. And with our receipt- came a coupon for buy one, get one cookie at the cafe. So great! I loved all these perks! The cafe offers lots of sweet treats, coffee, and tea. I got the kids a rainbow cupcake and I ordered a Fog tea. All of it was super tasty! I definitely would suggest coming here!! Great to have a large bookstore in town again...its been years since the Borders closed its doors in Folsom. The kids and I went here on their opening day, and it was hopping: lots of customers, a little band playing and a singer, and the kids were happy to explore. I checked out the wine and beer selections at the bar (yes, a bar at the bookstore!), and the little lounge area with a restaurant next to it. Limited breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu, but as my son said, "this place has everything...we never have to leave!" We had dinner there and the food was delicious! The chef came over and chatted with us several times, talked to my daughter about soccer, and was generally very congenial. The servers were friendly, but still working out the kinks...I fully expect that they are great now. The space is wide open, with not as many bookshelves as we've seen at other B&Ns, and the kids noticed that there weren't as many games and other offerings either. We all picked out a book to purchase, and my daughter took a slew of pics on my phone of books to put on her Christmas wish list, and then we walked out into the rain...with full bellies and a bag of books. It is wonderful to STILL be able to go into a professional, friendly and well stocked bookstore and this Folsom location is just the place if you're looking for such a place. The modern interior reminds me of going into an Apple store-sleek, clean and with lots of "reachable" shelves (being I am 5'1"!) All the sales personnel, especially the children's section, are readily available to help with any questions or to help you locate the latest titles. The children's section is set up to encourage browsing and reading and the other parts of the store have welcoming seating throughout also. There is a cafe that seats indoors as well as has a spacious outdoor area for patrons and though I have not dined there yet, the reviews from other Yelpers who have are very positive. read more

Hi, on 09/23/2019 I had a dinner at this location. The waitress took my coffee cream even though I am still drinking coffee. Then she took my plate even though I still did not finish my food. As soon as I looked away for a moment my plate was gone. She did not ask me if I was done. I asked her to get my food back she said: I only had a crumb and a bit of salad left so I took it away. she was sarcastic and laughing thinking it was funny. I asked her to have the manager get it dinner back. She called the manager who came very sarcastic too not apologizing whatsoever. He said I will have the cook prepare a quarter sandwich of club instead of the 1/4 of sandwich the waitress too. He walked away without apologizing or saying something positive whatsoever. I used to be a Manage of a restaurant and in cases like this I would offer free dinner or free dinner for next time and I would apologize. I gave the waitress 33% tip just to be nice. But I will never go back to any branch ever. read more

TL;DR - I love that there's a large, cozy bookstore closer than the Galleria one - and this one has so much seating and options for food and books! A+ customer service! ** AMBIANCE ** It doesn't really remind me of a standard Barnes and Noble store - it looks so high tech and new with a corner for nook advertising and tablets on some of the shelves that can help you find books you may want. There's also a giant display with vinyls and vinyl players available for purchase along with audiobooks, etc. I think because the restaurant takes up a good chunk of the store, the inventory might be a little smaller than the Roseville location, but I like the way that it's laid out and how open it feels when you walk in. There's plenty of seating in this location and I LOVE that - they put seats everywhere you could think of. It's such a cozy way to preview a book before purchasing or just chill after a long day of shopping. The crazy spacious amount of seating is probably my favorite aspect of this new location. I feel like we've all spent a good part of our childhoods in bookstores sitting on the ground reading books - getting a cozy place to sit is waaay better than the floor! ** RESTAURANT ** The restaurant and cafe both have pricier offerings than I was expecting - I think for Folsom area, this place could do well, but $10 for a kid's entree seems a little steep to me. Still gonna come back and try those $26 short ribs and update though - probably on a splurge day LOL They have a pretty good variety of drinks - from wines to coffees to beers, you'll probably find something you like! I think I was kind of apprehensive about the smell of the restaurant overpowering the bookstore (book smell yaaaahs) but it seems like their menu is fairly tame in terms of overpowering scents and the bookstore just smells like a new bookstore. And I know that's a weird worry to have since I've seen cafe's connected to bookstores but I was still pretty curious upon entry to see if I'd be hit with a restaurant smell rather than a nice book smell! ** PRICE/SERVICE ** Price-wise there are a lot of coupons that make the B&N books pretty comparable to online prices and I still think Barnes and Noble gives you the opportunity to see the book and feel it, so even if it's up-marked a little, I'm not gonna complain. Plus they really do a good job of setting up the place to help you find new books you might be interested in, in every aisle! Customer service here is excellent so far and I got in and out very quickly! ** PARKING ** I'm familiar with the Palladio area but if you're not familiar - THERE ARE TWO PARKING GARAGES. So excited that they decided to open a Barnes and Noble here in Folsom Palladio. I was very impressed that they said they would also include a wine/beer, coffee, tea and a legitimate restaurant within the book store. Only in Folsom do you walk into a Barnes and Noble to find people walking around with a glass of wine in their hands. Too funny. The store itself is pretty good size, lots of literature options, gift ideas, vinyl albums, journals, notecards and more for your Barnes and Noble enthusiast. The kids section in the back is pretty expansive as well, including toys, books and activities. My husband and I went to eat at the restaurant. We ordered tea, a grilled cheese & tomato soup dish as well as a dessert. My goodness, that grilled cheese and tomato soup was AMAZING. Probably the best I've had in Folsom, no joke. Our waitress was friendly, let us sample beer selections. They did run out of a particular beer that was on the menu, so we had to forego the beer options since the other options were not as appealing. My husband and I tried out the restaurant this evening. By my surprise we were both happy with the dinner. He had the braised short rib and I had the mushroom ragu. I loved his dish! It was comfort food to the max. The horseradish cream sauce reminded me of home. Loved it! My ragu was flavorful and the egg on top was cooked perfectly. We also had the meatball starter. They were good and for an appetizer it was a large portion. I would recommend the meatballs and a salad for an entree. I love this concept and will return faithfully. This place is so cool! I'm not a big reader, so I have never made my way into this beautiful Barnes & Noble store/restaurant here in Folsom. This evening, I had to take an exam with three other classmates, but it was hard trying to find a place that had Wi-Fi after 9:00pm. Luckily, this Barnes & Noble is open until 10:00pm. Their lounge area is perfect... plenty of electrical outlets and a large table made for a great place to meet up. They do have a little cafe inside, as well, which serves Starbucks. This place has awesome seating area with multiple outlets for charging. Menu is limited but great choices. Ask for kids menu for all the best comfort foods. Flies are everywhere due to automatic doors at entrance. Tried the grilled cheese but too cheesy for me, the kids spaghetti is good with chilula. Order two if you're an adult because it's small. Tried ordering the huevos rancheros with egg whites but was told they couldn't do this. When asked if they could do this with the B&N All American breakfast which reads eggs any style, they said no. 6 members of my book group met here for dinner tonight. The restaurant exceeded all our expectations. The service was excellent and very accommodating! We tried a variety of menu items, and sampled them all. The burger is tasty and cooked to order. The bun was grilled and crispy on the edges, a very nice touch. The potatoes were nice and crispy with what I believe was a parmesan coating. Our only complaint here was they do not have ranch dressing to dip the potatoes in, and the only mustard is dijon. The mac n cheese was smooth and creamy, the grilled cheese and tomato soup were good too. We shared all 3 dessert options and could not decide which was the best. All were good. The price seemed a little high, but not so bad that we won't go again! read more

The store is great, don't get me wrong, but I am so disappointed in my experience of the "vibe" in the seating area. I had just purchased a book and I wanted a comfortable place to sit down and read and possibly enjoy a tea or coffee. On the right side of the store I noticed a really nice area to sit and enjoy my new book. I saw some people enjoying snacks and drinks from the kitchen, and some people just sitting, talking, and even working on their computers. I found an empty seat and began to read. Not 2 minutes later I had someone come up to me to ask if I wanted anything to drink, and I politely declined. I noticed the person next to me didn't have any thing to eat or drink as well and someone asked them if they needed anything. About 5 minutes went by and I was asked AGAIN if I wanted something to eat or drink. I noticed the people around me, working or talking, who didn't have something to eat also being repeatedly asked if they wanted something to eat. This put an awful taste in my mouth. I would completely understand why they would be doing this if there were other seating areas in the store NOT connected to the dining areas, but there is not. It's so sad to me that this Barnes and noble doesn't seem like a place to sit and enjoy a book, it's a place you have to pay to sit down somewhere comfortable. I hope they change this. I would love to be able to come here to study or do work but I would really like to not be bothered every 5 minutes if I wanted something to eat or drink. read more

This is one of the coolest concepts I've seen in a while: a full coffee bar and kitchen and bookstore in one. Very modern and upscale looking, and full of life! This is the Taj Mahal of bookstores; what a cool place to visit. My sister invited me here with her to go over some paperwork that would take quite a bit of time. I was hungry and wanted to do lunch, something she insisted I try at Barnes and Noble. My response was you want to have lunch at a bookstore??? Well, I am glad I did. They have the best Kale salad here I think I have ever had in my life. I get it with salmon and it is absolutely fantastic. My daughter is a big reader and loves books, so she is constantly asking me to buy them for her. Now that I know this café is here and has my all time favorite salad I am even more inclined to come back and buy books. The selection of books is pretty reasonable. They carry many unique topics; a smaller B&N but incredibly well organized and easy to navigate. Met my son here for lunch. It was very good. I had the chopped vegetable salad with salmon. It was delicious. The salmon was cooked to perfection. My son had the mushroom ragu with polenta & sunny side up egg. He finished every bite. My mother had the brisket burger with crispy potatoes & had enough for another meal. Everything was yummy. We finished our meal by sharing the cookies. They tasted freshly baked & were soft and chewy. All in all a good place for lunch.
