This store is very organized and they have kiosks that it is helpful to find the books. They also have staff working on the floor which answers questions and help finding items. This store has anime, music and magazine selections and prices of the books are compatible which other stores or online. They also offer a reward program which offers discounts for cafe, books and magazines. Parking in Americana is not free. I think they validate the parking. I DESPISE when Japanese mangaka and other guests of honor choose to go to this location of all of them. It's super fisted with the regular crowds due to it's location in the shopping center, it's a traffic nightmare, it's not remotely close to anything else (convention center, Japanese hub, etc.), and the shop itself is a bit lackluster. Like, yeah I know we are running out of actual physical bookstores, but this is mostly a trinket, toys, gift store with some books to sell on the side. Manga and graphic novel selection is a bit limited. Staff recommendations were the most casual and entry level things ever like JJK or MHA, no offense. I truly had so much fun in this store that it was hard not to spend all of my money and I don't even read books nearly as much as I should! They have endless options, including vinyl records, which I never expected. There was even an adorable Winnie the Pooh-themed area in the children's section that was so charming. They also have a coffee shop inside, making it the perfect place to relax and spend a few hours. The store has three levels, but my favorite was the very top because you can overlook the beautiful fountain from there. I especially loved all of the little knickknacks they sell, and the journals were easily my favorite. This location is huge and has a lot of book categories to choose from. Service was phenomenal. They had so many books, music , etc.which prices varied from high to low. I love a good bookstore, even if it's a Barnes & Noble and this location in the Americana is so cool. It's multiple floors with lots of big windows that overlook the Americana. I came during the holiday season so it perfectly overlooks the giant tree and we even had a live Christmas performance right outside Everything is so well organized and has books for everyone and even some retail items like CDs and trinkets. There are a ton of places to sit and read a preview before buying any books. I loved how everything was organized and could wander around here for hours. read more

Although my in-person experience was initially positive, on a different day, several issues ultimately left me feeling unsettled and unresolved. I was promised validated parking, yet I still had to pay the full parking price. I also intended to purchase the more affordable option, but it was out of stock at the time. My biggest concern was my phone interaction with Marie. She came across as rushed, apathetic, and unprofessional, and the call became increasingly frustrating toward the end. The level of service felt minimal and dismissive, and I ended the call feeling uneasy and without resolution. I am still uncertain whether my order was properly completed. Marie stated she was "pretty sure she clicked it" regarding my emailed receipt, but I have not received when I was on the call with her. I followed her instructions and checked both my spam and trash folders, with no success. She did say the email should be in my inbox, spam, or trash by the end of today. I love going to Barnes and sad that they're all so spread out now since there aren't many left. This one is definitely one of the biggest ones being 3 stories. We always drop by whenever we are at the Glendale Galleria mall across the street. This Barnes is located in the Americana shopping center. The first floor is typically where we stay since we check out the Pokémon and anime merch they have. We've only recently been going up to the third floor to check out the Harry Potter section which is huge. Parking lot was a little confusing to navigate around and I thought I was going in massive circles when I was exiting. It was a max of $30 to park inside and I believe it was $5/hr. We came here for Gundam which was really surprising to see. They've really changed their products and added Manga to their collections. Its been many many years since ive last stepped foot inside this store. I cant believe it has 3 stories. I was really surprised to see a table top games section! I almost walked out with a game, but decided on a book and sudoku. My husband walked out with Gundam and a brain teaser. They have a loyalty program here and its free to sign up. The staff at the register was kind and patient enough to check if I was a member. We decided to stop by Barnes & Noble at Americana location on a Saturday afternoon. We normally frequent the Barnes & Noble Burbank location as well as the Barnes & Noble the Grove location. We were happy to see they pretty much have the same selection and variety of books and arts and crafts materials like the other Barnes & Noble locations we frequent. Today's visit we purchased the Spy Family book which was the last one on the shelf as well as the last item on my child's list. Barnes & Noble provided excellent customer service. We were greeted when we came into the establishment. We were also asked if we needed assistance when looking at books. I do not recommend using the restroom here. I used the women's restroom and it was HORRIFIC. On the baby changer feces all over the plastic. Toilet paper, diaper on the floor, and fece brown paper on the floor! Totally unsanitary and disturbing. A district manager needs to get this in check asap. read more

This is a really great place with an impressive selection of books. There are three floors filled with books of all kinds. The top floor features children's books and toys, and you'll find plenty of teen and young adult books as well. It's also home to a Starbucks cafe that offers unique sandwiches. The bathrooms are located on this floor too. However, this floor, while the largest, is also the most chaotic and in need of attention. There are books everywhere, and kids running around and shouting, which is understandable but still a bit much for a bookstore. I personally don't allow my kids to scream like that when we're in a bookstore, indoor voices are a must. As for the bathrooms, they need serious cleaning. The toilet paper was out, there was paper on the floor, the floors were wet, and some toilets hadn't been flushed. The cleanliness of the entire store seems to be the biggest issue. A store of this size could definitely benefit from more staff to help keep things tidy. Speaking of staff, some are helpful, but others aren't as knowledgeable. We asked one employee about a book, and they had to call someone else who just looked it up on their ipad device, which the first employee could have easily done. The cashiers are also slow, and the lines can take about 15 minutes to get through. Overall, it seems like a lack of staff is the main issue here, along with perhaps some additional training on the store's inventory. More frequent cleanings could also make a big difference. read more

B&N has all that and more, especially in the center of Glendale. You can find Barnes Americana on the same side as the Samsung Experience store, Urban Outfitters and AMC 18 - it's adjacent to the Italian eatery Trattoria Amici. It's always in flux, but more so on weekends. Great AC, some good deals, extra savings if you're a member - free to sign up, but you can also upgrade for more discounts. My husband loves bookstores. Barnes & Noble in Glendale is one of his favorites. The large open space is bright, impressively clean, organized and always kept comfortable with AC. I especially like it because of its location within The Americana at Brand. I've come here in the past for book signing events which were always managed well. Today we came after brunch at Din Tai Fung. As we usually do, we walk around to browse each section. We pick up several books that we're interested in, then find seats to skim through them in deciding which will be added to our collections. We often get lost in chatting about each one for a couple hours. Staff are always around to help find something or answer questions. I'm a sucker for bookstores in general, so it's safe to say I'm a fan of Barnes & Noble! We always stop by this location whenever we visit the Americana - rain or shine it's quite the comfort zone no matter how many customers there are! There are 3 levels to the store accessible via escalators and/or an elevator. Speaking of which - there are no dogs or strollers allowed on the escalators. For the elevator, you can't bring merchandise from the first floor up (you have to enter the elevator through a security scanner). If the scanner goes off, they'll hold your items at checkout for you to pick up on your way out. We usually frequent the third and first floors. The third floor has the children's section, horror/thriller/fantasy books, and an in-store Starbucks. The first floor has magazines by the entrance and movies/music by the back (near the elevator). Prices vary depending on what you're in the market for and yes, a good number of items are pricey for what they are. They also have a good number of discounted items and plenty of areas to sit if you want to take a load off. All in all, this is the largest Barnes & Noble I've been to yet. There's always something to see/do at this location so it's a must if you're at the Americana. The only downside is that the balcony on the third floor seems to be permanently closed now and the restrooms could be cleaner. Other than that - relax and go read something! read more

However, I wouldn't go out of my way just to come here. This is largely due to a tainted experience from signing up for a book discussion event that I was really excited about. It was a YA book that I had just recently finished reading and I wanted to talk with others about this book as well. When I showed up for the event, I found that I was the only attendee and the originally employee that was leading the discussion called out sick that day. They had another employee cover, however she admitted that she did not read the book since it was so last minute. I ended up using the time to explain to the employee the book instead - and got zero discussion out of it. What a complete waste of time! I would've rather had them cancel the book discussion event altogether. read more

I have to say I'm disappointed that B&N is selling AI generated books and fooling consumers. We received a coffee table book that was clearly AI and not what the gift giver expected to give. There aren't too many Barnes & Noble around compared to before, and I didn't expect to be interested in reading again. However, I was drawn further in when I discovered that the New York Time's Best seller this year was "Lessons in Chemistry" - should preface that chemistry interests me. Other than the sign, I couldn't find the book and unsurprisingly, I had to walk through THREE stories - no pun intended - to finally find "Lesson in Chemistry" with beautiful, blue-bordered pages. In addition to a variety of reading categories - some which I had never even thought of - I liked the subtle advertising as shown in the photos. Some advertising was shamefully accurate while the others were creatively executed such as "blind date with a book." With more screen time and less book time, reading physical books may start to be a thing of the past. However, I appreciate that Barnes & Noble is doing what they can to retain interest in physical books. Discovering a Starbuck's on the third floor was also pleasant, since nothing beats a drink paired with a book on the side. What's more? I was pleased to see that checkout lines were lengthy and that they were a popular store even alongside names such as Lululemon, Tesla, Samsung, etc. I will definitely be returning with more time to check out the rest of their selection. read more

Wow I didn't realize they sell toys on the third floor! They have Starbucks and bathrooms on the third floor as well. They have lots of selections of books for kids. Spent about an hour and the kids enjoyed their time there. My daughter accidentally left her phone and the staff is very helpful and we found it at their lost and found. My family was recently in the area and dropped by this location of Barnes & Noble. It was the first time we've ever visited this location. It's a very tall location; the escalators will play a big role here and for us the elevator also because we had our little one in a stroller...my biggest criticism of the location is the small (and slow) elevator. Particularly with many other families visiting (with strollers it was a long wait to move between floors). That said, the store seemed well organized to me...the cafe being in the top floor with lots of customer service people on the various floors to answer questions ( at least during our visit). My oldest spent a long time in the Anime section (first floor) and gave its selection and inventory an approving thumbs up. This location has the look and feel of similar B n N and the fact it was full of people shopping for books made our day! read more

Located at the Americana in Glendale, this is one of the few brick and mortar Barnes & Nobles left. The space is nice and airy, but surprisingly lack in selection for the size. The only DVDs or Blu-rays were Criterion collection. There's a coffee shop, outdoor seating and the restroom on the third floor. The restroom is a bit of a horror show. The A/C was clutch in this heat wave. A nice place to cool off in this outdoor mall and maybe use the restroom and peruse some books/magazines. read more
