I had two kids in their toddler room for 6 months, and then I pulled them out after being fed up. Now, after putting my kids in a different daycare I can see clearly how bad it was at Kindercare, I am still dealing with guilt that I didn't I pull them out sooner. Here is the good and the bad I experienced at this center. Good: - The outdoor space is big and beautiful with tons of toys to play with. - Teachers were really good at changing diapers quickly and my kids never got diaper rashes while there. - The front desk was always welcoming and greeted us with a smile. - There was always someone picking up the phone and they were always open to go check on your kid right away if you asked them. - They are not cheap but they have a good discount for intel or ohsu employees and they offer sibling discounts too. - They use a pretty nice app that informs you of the diaper changes, food consumption and photos shared. You can also message teachers and director via this app. - They have excellent hours that secure care for your little one even when you have a long day at work. Bad: - Generally the teachers were not engaging or showing much interest or affection to the kids. They were mostly standing around passively and often talking amongst themselves instead of the children. Sometimes kids would be wailing in the corner and no one would pay any attention to them. I witnessed this regardless of the time that I stopped by to pick up kids, or drop off anything for them. - The toddler classrooms are tiny! They have sectioned a big room into 3 little rooms that probably barely meet the min square footage per child. The rooms are always crowded and in a disarray with toys laying everywhere. They don't teach the kids to clean up and there were always (dirty) toys spread around on the floor that you would step on as you dropped off and picked up your kids. - the food is DISGUSTING. Don't be fooled by the menus they may show you. It may look good on paper, but first of all, the food served almost never matches what is printed on the menu for that day. "Fresh fruit" comes out of a can! Cheese and meat is processed. Bread is stale and white. Nothing is truly cooked there. It's all just thawed and/or warmed. I wouldn't eat any of that myself. - The kids were taken to play outdoors twice a day during summer, but even though we had a very mild fall and winter, but they did not take the kids out a single day from Oct to Feb. And after parents called to complain they took them out only occasionally when the weather was very nice. Their excuse was that some kids do not have warm clothes?! They kept the kids in the tiny tiny classrooms crawling around all day, and my boys would get horribly sick every other week. - They constantly move the kids around among toddler classes. We would always drop off our kids around the same time, within the allowed drop off time and around breakfast time and in their designated classrooms, but they would already be at capacity in that room and have to move some of the kids out to accommodate our kids. Sometimes they would take kids that were in the middle of eating their breakfast and have them walk to another room. It was always chaos and a lot of teacher/student switching once we arrived. - I had a kid that drooled a lot and I would give them extra bibs so they could change them out during the day, but despite asking a couple of times and sometimes even messaging about it they would forget and on his drooly days my kid would often go home in a wet shirt (with dry and clean bibs sitting in his cubby). -They had serious staffing issues and had to close their classrooms unannounced several days during fall and winter! Once they emailed us at 7am that they could only take 8 more toddlers that day, and first come first serve! Other days they would ask us to pick up our kids earlier due to staff being out. - There were also a lot of little less important, but annoying, things as well such as not removing the kids shoes for nap time, not being stocked with age-appropriate educational toys like legos, building blocks etc., not allowing food from home, they would play super loud music non stop in the evening, they tossed all the water bottles in a cubby all week and never changed the water or cleaned the bottles until parents pick them up at the end of week and clean them, they would not provide water to the kids during the day only at specific times (my kids were sooo thirsty when we picked them up because they couldn't speak and ask for water or they did and were ignored). All in all, while there are a few positives, I would never recommend this place to anyone who wants the best for their child. I have even heard teachers working at that center discouraging parents from putting their children there! That should be telling enough...

My kids have attended this center for nearly a year and we have overall been very happy with the…read morecare they receive. Pros: - The teachers here are absolutely AMAZING! We have had the pleasure of working with most, and they are all kind and attentive to the students, but also very good at correcting and redirecting negative behavior. They respect the kids and make them feel loved and safe. My kids adore their teachers and so do we. Also the teachers are really good at honoring your requests (e.g. put on hats during outside time, change outfits during the day, apply cream at diaper change, etc.) - The new owner runs a tight ship and she cares about her business, teachers and the families they serve. We have found her to be respectful, reasonable and fair (for example, when they had to close the center due to power outages during winter storms, they adjusted their spring calendar to instead offer us care for a few of their spring professional development days). She is also always looking to improve her center and actively seeks feedback from parents. - They have a structured and detailed curriculum and do fun and educational activities with the kids every day. - I think they have pretty good hand-washing policy in the classrooms because kids don't get sick as often as they used to. -The food they provide is not gourmet, but definitely much better than the food offered at many other chain schools. They offer fresh, fruit twice daily and the food they serve is a mix of fresh, frozen and canned ingredients. The amount of sugar, carbs and processed food they offer is not too much in my opinion. They make most of the meals on site and they look and smells good. - This is a new SafariKid location and the building is newly renovated. So, naturally the toys, carpets, walls, etc. areclean and fresh. - The app they use is good and they share fun and detailed information about the kid's day and activity and you get to see pictures/short videos of them. Also, teachers are usually pretty quick in responding to you on the app if you post questions or requests. - They take the kids outside twice a day most days, and they have a covered area for when it is raining. - injuries and incidents are reported in a timely manner and with necessary details. - They offer sibling discount. - They have parent-teacher conferences twice a year to hear about how your kid is doing in class, and they have family activities planned for holidays and other occasions (e.g. Mother's day, Christmas, Easter, etc.) where you can interact with teachers and see your kids classroom Minor cons/notes: - I think this center is relatively expensive, and they require you to pay 1 month worth of tuition upfront upon enrollment. They also have a few misc. other fees (supply fee, registration fee, etc.). - They are closed most holidays and several days for professional development, Christmas-new year break, etc. This makes sense given that they are technically a preschool, but it's an adjustment if you are used to a daycare that is open every day. - Sometimes teachers forget to enter all the diaper changes/potty in the app. So, you won't necessarily know exactly how many times your kid pooped, for example. Not a huge deal, but sometimes this information is helpful when you are dealing with constipation, etc. - The outdoor space they have is not super green (no trees or greenery, just wood chips and toys). Also, the toddler outdoor space doesn't have much shade in the afternoon during the summer time, so the kids had to play in the scorching heat. - I think their hours are from 8am-5:30pm, and they don't serve breakfast (only morning snack is at 10am), so not great for those occasional days when you need to get a head start on your day or need some extra time at the end of the day. Again, this is in line with them being a pre-school, but it is something to consider. - They have a policy that drop off/pick up happens at the door and a chaperone takes your kid to and from the class. We were worried that our kids would freak out and it would be difficult to convince them to leave us at the door. This has not been the case and I feel like drop offs are now much faster and easier than before. In fact, our boys are always happy to go to their class and sometimes they go in without saying bye to us! It may be a bigger issue for kids that are younger and/or are new to the care. Also, I feel like the main con of this policy is that is reduces the chances you have to casually talk to the teacher about your kid, and getting to know the teacher. It feels a bit like you are isolated from the kids/teachers and you don't get to see the classroom and the space they spend their days. You are technically allowed to walk in when your child is in their care, but the door is always locked and it is clear that they do not expect you to come in under normal circumstances.

They do NOT care about your kid or their needs, only your $. They never listen to parents, will lie & gaslight you. It's so toxic. They play favorites! But don't you dare call them on it, they get defensive & hostile. They give stale snacks & whatever is on sale which is typically just oranges. They keep the rooms cold to not use $ for heating. Nothing is ever cleaned and your kid will come home sick every week! Not sure how they pass inspections or licensing. Teachers are unhappy, you can see it on their face. Some of the classrooms are like a chaotic zoo. No structure, no discipline. My kid was so happy to leave she made me promise to never take her back. That's how bad it is. Stay away. All the other local schools are 100x better & cheaper!! Wish I could give 0 star. Oh and the owner is absentee. Never ever responds to emails or even knows you or your child. I saw her maybe 3x total in 1.5 years and she never even looked up from her laptop to give a welcoming smile. But once they misplaced my email and she was finally emailing me. Surprise surprise when she wants her $ she will magically become available. Btw they had misplaced my check and were trying to charge me a late fee even though I paid 4 days in advance!!

Especially for Kindergarten. We wanted and needed a full day Kindy and there wasn't one available at our local public school at that time. She was really ready, she was already reading and doing some math. Princess got Mandarin classes,music, sign language, soccer instruction, basketball, handwriting practice, all kinds of exposure to various media... the teachers were mostly fabulous,the playground was good, and we felt it was clean and safe if not a bit stuck up. ( sorry, but true). All in all it was a good experience. She would tell you she liked the Pre-K and kindergarten parts fine, but after first grade they "treated (her) like a baby" and she did not like that part. We didn't bring her back for the summer after 2nd grade, although we could have. We also found out after the fact that some of their snacks were less than desirable. Um, Twinkies? really? But, I have to reiterate, safe and for the most part, very good. She and her friends from Goddard liked one of their teachers so much that they talked him up in First Grade and the First Grade teacher invited him to come to their class and read the class a story and hang out with them. That was pretty special. How often does that happen, really? and the kids STILL talk about him and his visit. Sweet.

Pipster Prep was great--until it wasn't. We were one of the first families when the school opened…read morein May 2023 with just two classrooms, and stayed through April 2025 as it expanded to eight. Unfortunately, the quality of care and leadership didn't grow with it. While many of the teachers were kind and well-meaning, the majority were very young, newly trained through online programs, and often promoted with minimal hands-on experience. This inexperience showed, especially when it came to basic safety and communication. We raised several safety concerns over our time there: loose screws left in classrooms, unsecured furniture, choking hazards like popcorn and whole grapes on the snack menu, and toys with loose button batteries. Water beads--another well-known risk--were even used in class. We, and other families, were repeatedly brushed off or met with defensiveness when we brought these issues up. Our daughter has severe food allergies and had multiple reactions at school. Instead of ensuring a safe shared environment, the school had her eat meals alone at a table--at just 2 years old--while other students with allergies had entire foods banned from their classrooms for their safety. Even with discussions with their owner, Tessa, they don't seem to actually have a cohesive set protocol for handling allergies at their schools. Our daughter's school stored EpiPen was also allowed to expire by three months, only discovered when they went through medications for a state inspection scheduled the next day. There's only one classroom in the entire building with windows to the outside. The outdoor space is tiny, surfaced with hot rubber bark from recycled tires that stains clothes and skin when wet--definitely not designed with young children in mind. Multiple complaints and suggestions from parents were made over the two years we were there but nothing happened. Communication with the director, Jessica, was one of the most frustrating aspects. She often went weeks or even months without replying to emails, was rarely present during school hours, and didn't seem to support or equip teachers to navigate concerns with families. When we did hear from her, responses were often dismissive or defensive rather than collaborative. Eventually, we were blamed for "teacher burnout" simply for raising ongoing concerns about safety and our daughter's well-being. We appreciated the daily photos, but it often meant that teachers spent significant time on iPads instead of actively engaging with the children. For the high tuition we paid, our daughter frequently spent playtime drawing on a whiteboard with dried-out markers or sharing a single marker among many kids. In March 2025, we were suddenly told our family would not be allowed to return in the fall because our occasional concerns were"too much for Jessica's mental health". This came without any prior indication of issues or feedback. A few weeks later, we were immediately expelled from the school and received an email accusing us of "disruptive and inappropriate behavior." We had picked out daughter up early that day for a Doctor's appointment... Shockingly, Jessica sent an email to the entire school community sharing private details about our daughter's medical history, and invited other parents to "come into her office" to learn more about our family--something that was not only unethical, but a serious privacy violation. We were wowed by the newness of the school but should have done more due diligence as organizationally, it doesn't seem equipped to handle its rapid growth. Despite Jessica's experience as a preschool director, her lack of openness to feedback, poor communication, and disregard for legitimate safety concerns are deeply troubling. Since leaving, we've heard similar stories from other families and former staff. If you dig past the solicited 5-star reviews, you'll find more parents speaking up about the same issues. Advocating for your child's safety should never be treated as a threat or burden. That should have been our biggest red flag of all.

Our two year old comes home saying please and thank you and knowing his numbers and letters so well. They are so good with kids and teach them way more than we ever expected even from very young ages. Honest review here from a parent - they are the best and been the best decision ever to have our kids here. I see notes that they don't have locking doors - but they do! They installed them and they are very safe and I have no concerns about the doors locking and safety of the kids inside. I also see notes about dirty - and I do not feel this is true. Yes the place is not brand new, but it is absolutely clean and they do a great job cleaning toys everyday here as well to keep kids from spreading germs. They have wonderful outdoor areas for kids to play on structures and run around, ride bikes, or shoot hoops.
