Andrea was my hair stylist and she did a fantastic job. I have average thickness of hair--completely straight. I asked for a very layered mid-length hair cut with choppy side-swept bangs. My preferred hair styling regimen is using no product at all--that requires some good layering with no razor work for nice movement (if I razor with no hair product, then it looks fried). Andrea accomplished it beautifully. She listened to what I wanted, worked with the pics I showed her, and was careful to meet my needs. She's also lovely to chat with. read more

I don't trust my hair to anyone other than laura. laura is sweet, charming, professional and she has skills. she's given me great cuts and gorgeous color...she gives me exactly what I show up wanting. when I haven't known exactly what I wanted, she's made suggestions. these suggestions are described clearly and in good detail, and the end result has always matched her description. by the way, I have thick, coarse, super curly hair that makes most hairdressers tremble in fear (it's also crazy manic-panicked and sometimes ironed--laura's also helped me get it back to soft and smooth with deep conditioning and she's helped me get it from my natural near-black to platinum). she's also cut many friends' hair, and everyone ends up looking divine. honest! read more

I originally walked in to Barnets Salon because I thought it read "Barnets Saloon," thinking I'd get a quick whisky with a beer back and be on my way. Turns out it's a hair salon, and I couldn't be happier. I've been going to Barnets for quite a while now. I'm under the philosopy that finding a great sytlist is like finding a lover--it takes time, communication, and understanding. A stylist needs to figure out your hair, how you manage it, your personality, and on... But Marisa at Barnets nailed it from the beginning and continually blows me away. She just gets it. I randomly walked into this salon one day and met my new stylist, Astrud! I'd been seeing my old stylist for nearly 5 years when she moved to a new, more independent location -- no problem. Saw her a couple times at the new location, then all of a sudden there was a pretty significant jump in price, she barely remembered me (or my color card), etc. Time to move on.. Astrud has given me hands down the best color and cut ever. I'm pretty notorious for never knowing exactly what I want and being vague, but I walked out with exactly what I had in mind. I am so happy I finally found a stylist that can make my haircut look good! I highly recommend Laura, she was able to manage my wiry hair and work around the strange natural growth patterns. That is saying a lot, considering I've been to many an expensive salon in hopes of getting a haircut that is at least not bad looking. Absolute best! The spot is beautiful, the vibes are warm and ASTRUD IS A GODDESS. Really knows what's she's doing and great to chat with! I never make reviews but I had to for her and Barnets. I had almost black hair and she made my dream come true by making me a strawberry blonde! I've been wanting it for years now but never had the balls. I finally mustered up some courage and I am so grateful that I ended up in her chair. It looks insanely natural for being the polar opposite of that. The dimensions she put in are marvelous and the overall tone perfectly complement my olive skin and dark features while still not washing me out. It seriously is a work of art and no one could have done a better job. Astrud is incredible. I could not be happier. She even gave me a discount, made sure I was okay with affording it, and came into my work the next day to check up on me!! I sound so lame but honestly she is such a beautiful person inside and out, it's unreal! Totally forgot to mention the gorgeous cut as well! Perfect layers, kept the length I wanted, and attended to every issue I brought up without chopping a centimeter more than I requested. She even cut my crown so that there would be more volume and body there and I could have a perma-bombshell-just-out-of-bed thing going on. I was one of those nasty clients who was very hard to satisfy before I met Roberto. Roberto was the first hair master who made me absolutely happy. His haircuts and blowdry are absolutely amazing. I am not ashamed to say that I don't wash my hair for a week after his blowdry because my hair looks so great for that long! I have a very puffy long hair, but after Roberto does his magic, my hair always looks beautiful, very bouncy and silky. I am also very picky with the color and normally die my hair myself. Today, I trusted Roberto to color my hair the way he wanted. He did an incredible job. Although, my roots are very resistant, he managed to achieve a perfect color to blend it with my hair. He also did highlights, put some gloss, and did a ''mini'' Brazilian Blowdry. I left salon so happy! Curly and dense hair can be a nightmare. It does what it wants and not everyone knows what to do, when its bestowed upon them to cut. However, Astrud knows exactly what she is doing. Every time i go in she does an excellent job; not an easy task since I switch my hair style frequently. Vicki is amazing! If you're reading this review right now, just stop and get your phone and make an appointment. This is a Look-No-Further situation. I myself booked my first appointment with her a little over a year ago after reading some of these reviews and I am SO glad I did. In that time I've become more and more confident that I can try anything with her and its going to look amazing and make me look and feel confident and sexy and just damn cool. Each time I try something new I get dozens of compliments, and not the "oh you cut your hair" but "oh my god WHO cut your hair, they're a genius!" So a year plus later I just (literally 10 minutes ago) I left with the shortest cut I've had in over 10 year, the most stylish cut I've had maybe ever (and I say maybe because the last time was pretty rock star cool as well) and I can't stop smiling. I would never have trusted anyone else to do this, but I walked in calm and walked out ecstatic! So, if you're still reading this, I repeat, look no further this is as good as it gets. read more

I heard of Barnets thru my mother who happens to know one of the hair stylist (Vicky). I was a bit nervous being that it was my first time being in a salon since 1989. But Vicky made me feel right at home, comfortable which knocked the nervousness right out of me...lol! Shes great always made sure i was ok, offered me water, tea, magazines so i most def would go back. I walked in as a blonde and came out as a brunette but with a more edgy look. I followed Laura from Keter to Barnets - she's marvellous! She's dealt with my hair curly and straight, long and short, recovering from years of home dye jobs and ultimately dye-free. She's made creative suggestions and pulled me back from the razor's edge when I wanted something maybe a little too crazy for someone who likes - well, let's face it, *needs* - a low-maintenance but still faboo 'do. She's great at explaining technique and product, and never makes me feel like an idiot for not knowing what to do with my own hair. i have what my mother lovingly described as "cotton candy hair" after she gave me a pixie cut when i was 4. my entire family called me rod stewart for the next two years. thick-ish, coarse-ish, curly-ish, basically just difficult-ish hair. laura is a freaking genius when it comes to it. she actually listens to what i am looking for and works with me based on how she knows my cray-cray mop will respond. but wait! she is also really, really, RIDICULOUSLY good with color. i've had everything from platinum blond to hot pink to near-black with blue highlights over the past 3 years, and every single time it has turned out exactly how i envisioned it. she is super-knowledgeable about how color interacts with your hair, both chemically and aesthetically. and if i'm sitting in a chair for 2 hours, it's nice to have someone funny & warm to converse with. celebrity gossip, recent movie reviews, and embarrassing stories from our youth make the time fly. basically she is like the triple threat of the hair styling world. i totally lucked out. read more

Laura is the only hairdresser I've never cheated on. I found her through a friend several years ago, and since then have sent at least a half dozen other friends her way. I'm always happy with my hair when I walk out the door, and apparently other people are too as I get fairly regular compliments and questions about where I get it cut. My hair is long (past my shoulders) and I've actually found that it's harder to find a hairdresser who can do good long cuts than it is to find one who can do good short cuts. Laura helped me make the usually-awkward transition of growing it out painlessly, and just nails it, [tasteful] layers and all, every single time. I am so happy I found Roberto. I got a haircut and some highlights from him today, to say i am pleased is not doing it justice. I am very happy. I wanted to cut it short only because of my frustration of my frizz ball of my curls. Roberto gave me some tips and he suggested to keep it long but to have it trimmed and healthy. I know it is funny but i can't wait for my next cut with him. He is so easy to talk to, and made the whole experience enjoyable. He is so passionate with his work, that it makes you feel at ease. I walked into Barnets on a whim because I had gotten a butcher job a few months before and was sick of wearing my hair up to hide it. Vicky was able to fit me in right then and there, and I noticed right away how well she listened to my issues and questions. She has done a consistently fabulous job with my hair since then. She doesn't try to pressure me into weird styles that don't work for me or styling that I'm pretty sure I won't keep up- she just cuts a style that grows out really nicely and that I can wash and go and keep getting compliments with. I got my 18-monthly haircut a few weeks ago at Barnets and am still SO pleased with how it turned out. My stylist was Astrud. She was very helpful with figuring out what I wanted and what would suit me, and I ended up with my favourite haircut I've ever had. Not only did it look great on the day of the cut, it seems to be growing out really well, and looks good even when I don't brush it in the morning (which is often). Astrud was also just a really nice person -- quiet but friendly, and clearly very competent. The cut was SUPER fast -- so fast that I was a little worried until I saw the results! I will definitely be going back to Barnets, and to Astrud -- I would get my hair cut a lot more frequently if I could have such a pleasant, easy experience every time. read more

Vicki. Oh my god Vicki IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!! I give Vicki complete artistic license and she does the most incredible things with my hair!! Not only that but she is so warm and wonderful and FUNNY!!! I recently got married and of course went to Vicki to do my hair and I'm telling you it was absolutely perfect on my big day :) Not only that but a couple weeks prior my mom was in town visiting and wanted a cut and color that was funky-she is from Seattle and her hair stylist moved away so she has been missing the fun in her hair. Love Barnets Salon! Andrea is one of the only stylist that has ever been able to cut may hair in a way that gives it some body and curls. She also does my color which I get compliments on from friends and strangers all the time! Nice atmosphere and surprisingly...parking is pretty easy. Although I did not have Andrea as my hair stylist, Sandra was wonderful. She listened to the few things I wanted in a haircut and made this cut one of the most manageable and yet stylish doos I've had. Sandra even gave me some pointers and tips on how to keep my hair looking like someone had done something spectacular to it. Both Sandra and Andrea are very courteous asking if people wanted water and/or something to read. I can see why people who do go here have an enjoyable and satisfying time. As for me going back there...sure why not...I'm not one to get haircuts often, however I will definitely pick Barnets out of the pack. read more
