Absolutely love this park for days that I can't make it to the gym. I do my 3 laps which is about 4 miles. There is always something for the family or kids to do here. They have inside& outside basketball courts. A skate board area, a walk/run path , pavilions for parties, playground for kids, tennis courts, & the frisbee golf. I love mornings because I can usually catch the rabbits. There is also ramps for ppl to boat, and they have a BMX area & the list goes on. So if you're looking for some activities for yourself or the family while trying to stay fit check out Barnett park.

How have I never come across this park before? Barnett Park is just off of West Colonial Drive and is a large park with a lot to offer. On this particular Sunday morning that I was here, there was a fog hanging and it just added to the beauty of walking around the little lake. This park is large and hosts multiple sport fields, a boat launch, a community center (which was currently hosting FEMA since Hurricane Ian just hit us) and so much more. There were rest rooms, water fountains, pavilions and plenty of parking. I have been in Orlando for over twenty years and this is the first time that I have been to this park, but I can say that I will definitely return. It is close to the fairgrounds and is set back a ways off of West Colonial Drive, maybe that is why I had never noticed it before. All in all, I am going to give Barnett Park an overall rating of five stars and I would definitely recommend a visit here. We need parks in our communities, a place for us to gather to relax and chill, and Barnett Park fills this need more than admirably. Go check it out.

I'm a huge fan of this park. The first time I visited this park was to check out their disc golf course in the early days of the covid pandemic here in FL. I was looking for something socially distant to do and get a little bit of fresh air and light exercise at the same time - this park was the ideal solution! We obtained a map of the two courses from the nice rec center and a kind person at the desk gave us information on the whole park and their facilities. I was blown away that this was all here and I had been living in Orlando for about 13 years at that time. In the rec center, they have a nice basketball/volleyball court, a gymnastics area, workout facilities, game rooms and meeting/event spaces. Orange County members can pay a membership fee that was very fair (though the actual price escapes me). The rest of the park was very impressive. It basically has a little bit of everything. Going to rattle off all that I can remember but they had the two aforementioned disc golf courses, basketball courts, tennis courts, football/soccer fields, a small netted driving range and a small putting green, playgrounds and a decent skateboarding area with half pipes and sand volleyball courts. On your way into the park, there's a place to play paintball and a BMX track. There really is something for everyone. I have been to this park a few dozen times now and I feel like it's well maintained and kept fairly clean from the areas that I spent the most time in. I highly recommend this park to anyone and hope you can enjoy it on a regular basis with family and friends like I have.

Next to the fairgrounds and just off of Colonial Drive you'll find this gem of a park. You have to traverse down a windy and bumpy road, but once you reach your destination you'll be glad you came because the grounds are beautiful and the recreational amenities are great. First, there is a disc golf course complete with a pro shop. This sport seems to be growing in popularity as I've noticed other courses around town. Tennis courts, softball fields and basketball courts can also be added onto their list of fun things to offer. The bright blue playground is covered which is an awesome addition to an already cool play zone. Three separate pavilions are spread out on the property and would be perfect for family get-togethers. And if you would like to grill some burgers and dogs there are charcoal grills waiting to be fired up. Set behind the main area you'll also find a fishing pier. As I was driving away from this wonderful place I caught a glimpse of Orange County's BMX Bike Track. I had no idea such a thing existed here but it does and it's a pretty cool sight. This is also where I read a large banner for an upcoming Martial Arts Parade to be held at Barnett Park. This Saturday they will host floats, demonstrations and some good old family martial art fun from 8am-12pm. The sign stated that this was an annual event so it must be a pretty fun event.

It is a nice park although I cant get into detail about the whole park because I mainly went there just for the dog park. The dog park is kind of hidden and I didn't see any signs giving directions to the area, the small dog area doesnt have any shadowed spots unlike the big dogs side which does and also has a nice size. You can find waste bags and also water fountains for dogs and humans and there are restrooms right next to the dog run

The Labyrinth is near the entrance on the left. Ready to walk, meditate or pray your way through it anytime.

The park is spacious as a saw lots of spaces to walk and play sports. I also saw people play cricket in one of the fields. I think there was a playground, but I didn't pay close attention. I was more focused on the event, which had various vendors and stages showcasing music and pioneer reenactments. They used to have horses that kids (and a kid at heart that's me) can ride during the event, but they didn't have them this year. So, not sure if the park is equestrian friendly. But the park was clean and family friendly. It is a nice free park for sports, events, and family activities.

The neighborhood and the park is named after one of the earliest property owner's daughter's favorite novel, Lorna Doone, written by English author, Richard Doddridge Blackmore, published in 1869. Lake Lorna Doone was the site of the South's first integrated Little League Baseball game on August 9, 1955. The 1955 little league season was the first after US Supreme Court rulings had eliminated "separate but equal" conditions in the nation's schools and public parks. The Pensacola Jaycees were declared winners of their local district by Little League headquarters in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. When local officials would not allow them to play against the all-white teams they instead advanced to the Florida State Tournament which was held at Lake Lorna Doone Park. They ended up losing to host Orlando in the second round, 5-0 but they were welcomed by the hometown crowd and given encouragement. In 2021, 12 acre Lake Lorna Doone Park underwent an $8 million renovation. Added to the park was the nine hole Arnold Palmer Putting Experience, fitness stations, a playground, football fields, basketball courts, a splash pad and the Winnie Palmer Nature Trail. I especially liked the nature trail where I got to see native plants and wildlife. With the upgrades, this park now has all of the amenities needed to inspire a healthy, active lifestyle for the West Lakes families who live in this neighborhood and all who visit.
