This theater is in an area that has a lot of shops and restaurants. The whole area is themed in a western style and at night they have live music in the square so it's a fun place to hang out. It's a nice place to go for a date. The theater itself is decorated in a western style, as the name indicates. The seating itself was nothing special. They did not recline but were well-cushioned, comfortable, and leather or faux leather. Everything else was standard to a theater. They had snacks there to buy before going in. I wouldn't say that it is anything remarkable or special but it is in a great location to have a lunch/dinner and a movie date. read more

I thought they would have more expensive rates here due to the barn theme, but it was actually standard pricing and they also had discounted tickets for students and showings before 4pm ($12). Once you step in, you'll be in a dimly-lit, high-ceilinged, barn-themed lobby with barn decor that's just beautiful and makes you forget what you're there for. The seating was very comfortable and the spacing was adequate as well. The screen and sound were exceptional too. We were watching Wonder Woman and it wasn't too packed so we had a good pick of good seats in the middle. Parking was easy to find and this was a great theater to visit. There's an ice cream shop next door that you can visit before/after your movie as well. read more

I like everything about this theatre. Located on the southern side of the Villages, it is easy for me to get to and is always in too shape. Ticket prices seem a little less here than other places. When you walk in, it is decorated in a western style. The concessions are on the left and the restrooms on the right. Plenty of seating located in the lobby for relaxing before going in your theatre. Once in, there are restroom in this area, too. The actual theatre is quite nice. Soft, rocker seats. The arms between seats can lift out of the way if you prefer. The staff is very good about keeping the theatre clean between movies. For the money, this is a best bet for anyone. read more

The only reason this theater isn't getting five stars is because the shopping in the area has become so lackluster that there is little else to do after you've seen a movie here. The venue itself is very nice. Tickets are a dollar cheaper here than the Regal cinema in Ocala and the seats are much better. The stadium seats seem to be a higher angle than others I've been in so there is no way a taller person in front of you can block any of your view of the screen. They also rock slightly, so it's easy to get comfortable for the duration of the movie. The Christie projector in the theater I sat in was exemplary. The picture was sharp from corner to corner and very bright. The Dolby 7.1 sound system was equally nice. I think this was the first time I've heard onscreen gunfire sound intentionally too loud, which is exactly how gunfire is supposed to sound (we saw John Wick 2). And this was without making the rest of the movie too loud. In other words, the dynamic levels of the sound were outstanding. I can't comment on the concessions as I have never eaten any of the theater food. The lobby reminds me of a Disney resort, though not done quite as convincingly as The House of Mouse. Still, the attention to detail in the "old timey" elements is very nice and makes for a fun journey as you walk to your theater. Some comfy seats to relax as you wait for a date who has to stop at the restroom after the show. Speaking of the restrooms, they are very clean and bright. The water fountain outside the restroom has a water bottle fill station built in. Convenient. read more

Great venue, less expensive than Regal, but bring your winter gear!! People were huddled in their seats, hoodies up, and in spite of at least three people advising management of the uncomfortable temperature, nothing was done. When leaving, I mentioned how cold it was to one of the employees, and their comment was "it's always cold in here." When we walked outside, it was warmer than the theater, and it was 65 DEGREES outside!! Ridiculous. As a regular customer, I have noted it being cool in there, but never like it was today, and no one cared. read more

I never thought I would enjoy going to a theatre as much as I enjoy this one. From the moment you are in the vicinity you feel how unique of a area you are in. All of the Villages are themed but this is my favourite! They've added on quite a bit recently. The ticket price is fair, as it's the same price I've paid at other theatres. The outside looks like a barn, Hense the name... Upon entering the lobby you are inside the barn, with a tractor, furniture theme going along with the country, and the lamps and looking up is all themed as well. Now the concession stand is what really makes a difference at least price wise. We went for the value combo today and was super impressed... For $10.... Yes $10 you get a medium drink which we were offered to upsize to a large for a quarter... Uh yes please.... A medium popcorn... Plus a 3rd item.... Which could be a candy, glazed nuts, nachos and a couple others. Now that's a incredible offer! As at other theatres pecans are usually $4, drink is about $5 and popcorn is about 5-6$. Now the drink which I found out you can do this on any size drink... You can get a refill for $1. Now going through the lobby to your theater they have unique country decor. Even the bathroom stalls and sinks are country themed. They also have at the water fountain they have a filtered water bottle refill machine which this is the first I've ever seen. The sound system is amazing in the theatres and the seats recline and the arm rest come up if needed. read more

We go to the show often as Village residents. For the past 14 years we have purchased the #1 combo at the concession stand. For $12.50, It includes a popcorn refill, that sometimes we got on the way out and sometimes we brought the bucket back to be refilled the next time. Last night we were told that the refill was same day only. I carefully looked for a posted notice and watched the pre show ads and saw no such policy notice. This is a small problem but I don't think management has thought this through. I will continue to attend the show but I will no longer buy #1 combo! I'll bring the big purse and sorry for the lost revenue do to short sighted policies. read more

Barnstorm Theater is another top notch offering from TV! Even the restrooms are in keeping with the rustic country theme! It's funny how detail oriented everything is and a definite 'must see' if you're in town and have time for a movie. The Villages cinemas (Old Mill Playhouse in Lake Sumter Landing and The Rialto in Spanish Springs) are Do Re Mi Cinemas and have the best sound of any cinema we have experienced. They also have some of the largest screens we've ever seen, larger than most IMAX and for just regular movies which is a lovely change, they do have normal sized ones as well. The only negative is that they are a pricier than most Cinemas. Probably in line with Regal Cinemas now Regal has added the scam 'entertainment tax' - quite a bit more expensive than Carmike or Cinemark cinemas. Also, sadly they are not hooked up with Deal Flix or Fandango, and don't have any loyalty programs so no deals to be had at this point, this is the only negative and the only reason they don't get 5*. read more

A place you might confuse with an old mill grain house. My favorite of all time! You would never know this is a place is a theatre from the outside. The foyer looks like the landscape of an old farmhouse. It's quaint, clean, unique, smells like fresh popcorn (not stale) and the seats are plush leather. Can't go wrong here! read more

My favorite theater in The Villages. Big and beautiful, seats are comfortable and bathrooms are clean and beautiful too. Always enjoy going there and hanging out at the square afterwards. Hope they rebuild the one in Spanish Springs to be this comfortable. read more

We have been here twice now. This is a great theatre, the decor is simply amazing (for a theatre) There are so many things to see inside this massive theatre. There is a real John Deere tractor, hay bails, washboards, pots/pans, knick knacks, etc. Antiques are everywhere. Seating inside the theatres is done well, not packed in like sardines. Plenty of attendants at the concession area also. read more

We go there most of the time instead of Inverness where we live because the screen is huge, seats comfy and concessions cheaper.

Was OK. Still like the Rialto theater better, plus it's closer to home. The barn theme was nice but not my cup of tea. Snack bar was OK but could of been bigger. Bad experience. Drove all the way there for posted movie time in morning only to be told that manager would not allow them to sell tickets for this movie until he advised them to do so. No explanation. Ticket person could not advise what showings they could sell tickets for and really didn't seem to care. Nor was he bothered by the fact that we had to be turned away despite the fact that they advertised this movie time. Manager apparently didn't care either. Poor customer service. read more

Latest technology in sound and picture - Leather rocker recliners - wide, roomy seating with plenty of room for your legs - amazing decor, even the restrooms are impressive! - great location - easy parking and great popcorn. The beat theater I've ever been in. Could use more help at the concession stand. read more
