We went on Memorial Day to celebrate a birthday. The birthday girl is gluten free. The gluten free chocolate cake was fantastic. She loved it. Thank you to our server Franny for recommending it.

Stopped here last night for dinner and had a great experience. The roadhouse wings are so good!! I really enjoyed the black bean burger, very flavorful. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.

Great place! We came here for a camping trip and stop by Barnwood for a quick dinner. The inside is very big and kids friendly, food is very good! "Good old American food"! Definitely try their fried chicken and pull pork sandwich, taste so yummy! Service is quick and good, will definitely come back again!

Come here a lot. It's a def great spot to grab a good meal. We usually choose here when we are headed home. Great friendly staff. Good choice of food Large portions and cold drinks help round it all up. Stop in and enjoy it.

Stopped by at Barnwood restaurant for a quick bite in the Catskills, and it wasn't bad. The service was prompt and friendly. The calamari appetizer was good. And I had the fried chicken; it was one of the best fried chicken! Tender, juicy, and flavorful. BF had the pizza; although the flavor was good, the pizza was floppy and not crispy, quite disappointing to be honest. But other than that, it's a good family restaurant, and it was busy.

The Good: Barnwood is a fine restaurant. They seem to know how to fry things, and fry them well. It's also pretty kid friendly, with a lot of options that would work for children, and someone was nice enough to bring us coloring books and crayons. I had the namesake burger, which was solid and tasty, if overcooked (I never got asked how I wanted it, to be fair). Two folks at our table had fried chicken, and thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids had chicken tenders and fries (shocker there), and enjoyed them. And we also got a couple of salads (one special with fried shrimp), which were just fine. This place is spacious, brightly lit, and one of the most accessible and affordable menus in the area. It's a huge selection of food, and there's something for everyone here. The Bad: It's not as enjoyable to visit, because they are criminally understaffed. From the moment we arrived, the waitstaff was noticeably harried, and in the weeds. The hostess ran us to our table, threw menus down and ran away. Our waitress would disappear for long periods of time, and would be unable to get us simple things (like water, a drink, or a check) because she was just running around too much. To be clear, I don't blame the staff a bit, they were simply overwhelmed by the number of customers they had, and from what I've been told, that's pretty much a regular occurence. If only management would help their staff out and put a couple more people on the floor. The Ugly: We got charged for two extra glasses of wine on the check. Normally I would've said something, but (1) we couldn't wait to leave any longer and (2) the meal was still super affordable, so we just let it go.

Small and nothing Jumbo and they Sucked

Ok yesterday I got pizza and wings, they say Jumbo party wings?! I must say yesterday I was very Sad about the pizza and wings. Pizza was thin and tasted funny and the wings Sucked and not jumbo at all more like pigeon wings!

After a Catskill high peak absolutely nothing hits the spot better. Great prices, friendly staff, a sunny natural wood dining area and well-cooked food. Not the fanciest place, but solid fair for hungry hikers. Hi top tables are available if you prefer not to sit in a booth.

Lovely dinner for two. We had enough food to bring home as leftovers. Drinks were fruity and light - can't remember the names of our cocktails. We got a lot of weird stares from the other customers. We're visitors from out of town. Service was great! Food was good but nothing special. Steak was surprisingly great. I liked my baked beans. Ribs were dry and I had to add a lot extra bbq sauce but I still enjoyed it. Food - 4/5 Service - 5/5 Ambiance - 3/5 Value - 5/5

Sausage and Onion pizza!  The toppings were so skimpy.  Maybe one sausage link cut up and a small onion. 9 slices of sausage on a lg pie!

You order at the register and take your very large portioned plates wherever you'd like to sit. There are quite a few baked goods right at the register which looked great but I restrained myself, this time. I ordered the 4 rib platter which came with two sides. I got the mac & cheese and pickled beets. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and had good flavor. They give you a side of BBQ sauce in case you wanted some. The mac & cheese seemed like it was baked which is a plus for me. The only drawback is that it needed a little more flavor. Maybe a sharper, more flavorful cheese would help. I just put some salt and pepper on it and that helped a ton. The pickled beets were as expected - and I love beets! The platter also comes with a mini cornbread LOAF! Seriously, it's a good size mini. It was delicious, slightly sweet, and contained corn kernels. Also, a side of sliced pickles come with the platter and any sandwich. We were warned that they were spicy today and that was the truth! It was a bit over $40 for so much good food. We had to box up some of the food and it can definitely feed another person. Also, service was friendly and fast. I'd come back to try more items - probably including one of those baked goods :)

I also have to say -- I genuinely do not understand some of the comments saying the waitstaff were rude or uninviting. Every female waitress we encountered was beyond gorgeous, cheerful, smiling constantly, and so kind to both me and my older great aunt. We got so many sweet compliments throughout the day and everyone made us feel very welcome. Michelle behind the bar was especially lovely and pours a STRONG drink, which we appreciated Honestly, I'm surprised they weren't busier for Memorial Day weekend, although maybe the bigger crowd came earlier in the day. Food-wise, the appetizers and seafood specials were very satisfying and obviously fresh. We ordered the crab cakes, soft shell crab special, their clam special (half clam casino / half clam oreganata), and a Bloody Mary topped with what had to be 12 shrimp. The crab dishes especially were fantastic -- those crab cakes were PACKED with crab and tasted incredibly fresh. I do want to leave a couple honest criticisms though. I was not impressed with the mussels in white wine sauce, despite multiple waitresses recommending them. This is a dish I order frequently in NYC and Long Island, so maybe my standards are high, but the sauce was unusually sweet -- my great aunt noticed it immediately too. It almost tasted like a sweet white wine was used, which just doesn't work for this kind of dish. The wine either tasted low quality or maybe wasn't cooked off enough. One other thing that disappointed me: the drawn butter is definitely not real butter. It tasted like a vegetable oil-based substitute. For a seafood restaurant serving fresh crab and lobster, I really think real butter should be standard. That said, I would absolutely come back here for the vibes alone. Beautiful waterfront setting, friendly staff, strong drinks, and fresh seafood made for such a relaxing holiday afternoon.

We were a party of 10 and told that there'd be a 45-minute wait for a table, which was fine with us. We had a couple rounds of drinks at the bar and waited patiently to be seated, which we were about an hour after arriving. The problem came when we ordered our appetizers - garlic bread w/ and w/o cheese, crab cakes (2 orders), sesame crusted ahi tuna, and bang bang shrimp (2 orders). We waited at least an hour for our appetizers. Even the garlic bread took over an hour. When I asked our server, (who was very good, professional, friendly and attentive), after waiting about 45 minutes, if we could just have our garlic bread, because we were extremely hungry now at 8:30pm, she said it was coming out soon but that she'd bring us some Italian bread, which we didn't want but we ate anyway. Our entrees took another 45 minutes to come out after we finished our appetizers. The food was good. The portions were large. It was just the extremely long wait time for the food that killed this place for us. After the meal, I politely and privately asked our server if there was anything that could be done to make up for the wait time. She asked the manager and came back out with a bottle of Sambuca and shot glasses. No one wanted that so we politely turned that away. Our server then asked if anyone wanted dessert or coffee. It was already about 9:45pm. We were tired from a long day and ready to get out of there, so everyone passed on dessert and coffee. Our server then came back with the check. No discount at all. So I politely said, "There was nothing that could be done about the wait?", and she said, "I can ask the manager again, but we offered you Sambuca and then dessert, which was going to be on the house, but you didn't want either." I said, "OK, yes, please ask the manager again." She came back and said, "The manager took off a round of drinks for you.", which I was pleased with. Bottom line - if you're a large party (more than 6), or if they have a large party ahead of you, don't eat here.

Well, I do thank this location, because this location had an employee that opened up a new line so that I could pass directly into a line so I wouldn't have to wait to pay for the service. They didn't ask or remind me that I had a Speedy Rewards account I could use at the register, but I remembered the card just after handing them the Gas Cash Card and they completed the transaction smoothly. The money was added and I got a receipt as I asked. I went out and pumped. I had no real problems there. The ground still looks a little old and predates the Speedway pumps, but they work. The fact that the Walmart across the street helps, makes this place a go-to place when I'm in Catskill.
