It's always nice going to an Old-School Diner with a giant menu {that has at least 100 items}, dessert case, big parking lot, waitresses that have been there for 20+ years, a flock of regulars, and plenty of booths. *Bonus Points* if there are panels of chrome on the outside of the building. We wanted a quick bite, after a hike, so we pulled in. You have to always try the homemade soup when visiting an out of town diner. So we did ! One Soup (Chicken Noodle) w/Grill Cheese & Tomato and One Soup (Cream of Turkey) w/Tuna Melt. Soups came out quick with packets of Zesta Crackers and an unmarked bottle of hot sauce. I believe it was "Frank's". The sandwiches took a little longer, but were piping hot. My tomato was like lava, and I almost burned myself with the cheese. When was the last time that happened ?!?! Tuna Melt weighed about a pound, and the rye bread barely supported it. And the Cole Slaw was surprisingly good. I think the bill came to 22 bucks. I was eyeing a piece of cheesecake, but we had dinner plans.

Really classic diner in a downtown location, it was fun to visit there. We appreciated the fact the server, kitchen, and front checkout / host gave us expedited service since somewhat unusually for a diner visit we were on a tight schedule. My companion had an ample and nicely prepared pizza burger, and I had a russian-dressing free reuben (not by choice; what's up with that?) and tasty fries. Down vote for the coffee, which was grainy and bad, but given the friendly and quick service, still recommended. The other non-diner-ish things: it would be nice to be able to get breakfast all the time, and while there was a big range of things, the vegetarian options were limited to a limited number of fish dishes.

Wonderful food and wonderful service! Leah made my son's day with this delicious waffle with ice cream!

If there's anything we Philly girls know, it's definitely what makes a good diner. Philadelphia is filled with diners, from the excellent to the meh, and we love this style of dining. So what makes a good diner? Chrome and linoleum on the walls. Crushed stone "terrazzo" floor. Counter with stools and a case of baked goods. A 400 item menu large laminated menu Breakfast all day Clattering and talking and wait staff who are efficient and friendly Lastly, really good "simple" food If you're looking for roasted quail served with butternut acorn squash and quinoa, this is not your place. So when Lion and I were exploring the cool town of Saugerties, NY, we practically cheered- ok I definitely squealed - when we spotted the Village Diner. Oh please, we thought, let this be a good diner. We parked in their lot behind the restaurant, which was decently crowded. Followed a group of 8 and were seated at a cozy but not tiny booths. Diner portions are large, small tables do not work. Our server set the expectations up front - kitchen is running behind today, be prepared to wait a bit. Fine with us. Drinks were produced and order taken. Lion got the Big Daddy Breakfast I think it was called - always a diner classic offering involving pancakes or French toast, 2-3 eggs cooked your way, toast, home fries and coffee. I got French toast with bacon as, alas, we were out of range of scrapple-land. Coffee & drinks never got empty, before we finished another was offered & our server checked in twice, apologizing again for the wait and assuring us our order was coming. After about 40 minutes it came. It was worth the wait. French toast was crispy on the outside and soft inside, no soggy eggy stuff. Bacon was good. Lion said his eggs were perfect, agreed French toast was awesome. I had his potatoes, they were standard, not too peppery or loaded with onions. One other hallmark of a good diner? They are a good value for the food. This one did not disappoint. Restaurant was clean and comfy. Mid Century diner chic. Whenever we return to the Catskills, we're stopping again for sure.

Pretty large diner a little off the main street, but still very walkable to. Food was good but service is a little slow, so definitely plan a longer time frame if you're stopping by midday on the weekend. They have a really extensive menu - any and all diner foods you can think of, they have here. Don't forget to pay at the front once you're done with the meal instead of waiting for the check!

Both little ones got something they love which is a double win for tired parents. Thing #1 got the [Appetizer] cheese quesadilla with nothing on it and a [Appetizer] Garlic Bread. Thing #2 got the Mac & Cheese with Apple Juice and , at the end , ice cream to go. I asked on scaled of 1 to 5, and Thing 2 said

I love a good diner and this one was a great find in Saugerties... I decided to go with one of the specials for the day, eggplant Parm. I was offered the senior special lol... It meant a smaller portion and a lower price. It was delicious included side salad and choice of dessert. My partner tried the Santa Fe wrap with fries and a pickle and a small cup of coleslaw. Service was super friendly pretty speedy and lots of seating

The moment I stepped foot in the diner, I was instantly enveloped in a nostalgic and cozy atmosphere. It was full of charm with all the decorations. Definitely what you would picture in those classic movies/shows. Food was 10/10!! I ordered the buttermilk pancakes which is what they are most famous for and for good reason too! Fluffy and light and amazing portions (5 big pancakes with mixed berries)! The pancakes were so good that we bought a bag of pancake mix to take home. My sister ordered the eggs any way and she loved everything that came with it: eggs, choice of bacon or sausage, potatoes, and toast. Everything on the menu looked absolutely delicious and it was hard to decide what to order. They have weekly specials as well. Our waitress Susie was an absolute sweetheart and made our entire experience memorable. That being that we had asked her for some more water and by the time she came back around, someone else had already stopped by and filled up our glasses. She apologized for the delay by giving us a free chocolate chip cookie and it was the best damn cookie I've had in a long time. She went above and beyond for something that wasn't a big deal, but we appreciated the thought. I'd definitely come back here if I'm near the area.

The decor, from the booths to the lampshades, seem like they haven't changed in decades and are in excellent condition. The tables have tops that have obviously been replaced at some point, as they aren't the expected laminate, but otherwise it's like going back in time. We were looking for a traditional breakfast place open on a weekday (rather than a bagel shop or a place that only sells breakfast sandwiches), and this fit the bill. Service was efficient and attentive. They have a large array of menu items, but we both chose to get the breakfast burrito, without the meat. There was a bit too much potato inside for our taste, but others may prefer it that way. The side of salsa that came with it was delicious and made up for any lack of seasoning when we removed the salty meat. We would return when looking for a traditional diner with a large variety of choices.

I had the manager come over and an old lady came and I told her my pork was hard as a rock and I was showing her with the fork and she had the nerve to say "Well we have to cook it" And basically walked away! They should of 110% took it off the bill!! The one night I ordered open hot turkey sandwich and the gravy was boiling (literally) I had a burn on my finger for two weeks! It's definitely gone down hill-sad because I've been going there for many-many years!! Andy u should talk to your managers!! Not cool! First time they didn't hand us the bill- the brought it up to the register smh -

Breakfast all day, salads, sandwiches, roasted chicken, meatloaf, pasta, soup, and desserts! Did something say milkshake? We came in after a tour at the CIA since the Egg wasn't open yet for dinner. We were seated quickly and our ice water came too. It took us awhile to settle on our entrees because there is soooo much to see. After asking our server for their favs, we landed on the seafood salad and patty melt to share. The seafood salad items (shrimp, scallops and calamari were cooked perfectly. They do not skimp on the size of the seafood either. The house tomato dressing is really bright with a hint of sweetness. Hubby's party melt was a little undercooked but still tasty. The rye bread was buttery toasted and the grilled onions were nice and carmelized. He also loved the seasoned French fries. Oh we really wanted dessert but passed. We did get a small black and white cookie because I'm on the hunt for the best. At only .50, how could I not get one?our server was very attentive and energetic. Loved her! Folks, don't let the low reviews stop you from coming here because they almost did for me. No regrets in the decision. We'll be back for breakfast!
