Great place! We came here for a camping trip and stop by Barnwood for a quick dinner. The inside is very big and kids friendly, food is very good! "Good old American food"! Definitely try their fried chicken and pull pork sandwich, taste so yummy! Service is quick and good, will definitely come back again!

Come here a lot. It's a def great spot to grab a good meal. We usually choose here when we are headed home. Great friendly staff. Good choice of food Large portions and cold drinks help round it all up. Stop in and enjoy it.

Stopped by at Barnwood restaurant for a quick bite in the Catskills, and it wasn't bad. The service was prompt and friendly. The calamari appetizer was good. And I had the fried chicken; it was one of the best fried chicken! Tender, juicy, and flavorful. BF had the pizza; although the flavor was good, the pizza was floppy and not crispy, quite disappointing to be honest. But other than that, it's a good family restaurant, and it was busy.

Small and nothing Jumbo and they Sucked

Ok yesterday I got pizza and wings, they say Jumbo party wings?! I must say yesterday I was very Sad about the pizza and wings. Pizza was thin and tasted funny and the wings Sucked and not jumbo at all more like pigeon wings!

The Good: Barnwood is a fine restaurant. They seem to know how to fry things, and fry them well. It's also pretty kid friendly, with a lot of options that would work for children, and someone was nice enough to bring us coloring books and crayons. I had the namesake burger, which was solid and tasty, if overcooked (I never got asked how I wanted it, to be fair). Two folks at our table had fried chicken, and thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids had chicken tenders and fries (shocker there), and enjoyed them. And we also got a couple of salads (one special with fried shrimp), which were just fine. This place is spacious, brightly lit, and one of the most accessible and affordable menus in the area. It's a huge selection of food, and there's something for everyone here. The Bad: It's not as enjoyable to visit, because they are criminally understaffed. From the moment we arrived, the waitstaff was noticeably harried, and in the weeds. The hostess ran us to our table, threw menus down and ran away. Our waitress would disappear for long periods of time, and would be unable to get us simple things (like water, a drink, or a check) because she was just running around too much. To be clear, I don't blame the staff a bit, they were simply overwhelmed by the number of customers they had, and from what I've been told, that's pretty much a regular occurence. If only management would help their staff out and put a couple more people on the floor. The Ugly: We got charged for two extra glasses of wine on the check. Normally I would've said something, but (1) we couldn't wait to leave any longer and (2) the meal was still super affordable, so we just let it go.

After a Catskill high peak absolutely nothing hits the spot better. Great prices, friendly staff, a sunny natural wood dining area and well-cooked food. Not the fanciest place, but solid fair for hungry hikers. Hi top tables are available if you prefer not to sit in a booth.

Sausage and Onion pizza!  The toppings were so skimpy.  Maybe one sausage link cut up and a small onion. 9 slices of sausage on a lg pie!

Barnwood has been our favorite place for years. The last two times have been so disappointing. The portions are noticeably smaller. Not worth driving from Kingston anymore! What a shame!

Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

This a worthwhile place to pop in for a good meal in a nice…read moreriver view location. There are plenty of pleasant surprises on the menu for all sorts of diners. Our server was friendly. I hate to leave a harsh review but I see others have had the exact same complaints and this isn't my first bad experience here. Once we sat down and had our sandwich orders taken it was at least an hour till our food was out. I had to go to the kitchen after about 45 minutes and they said, oh, it is right here and brought out the bread/ biscuits app someone had asked for. Bread = 45 minutes. The rest of the entrees then trickled out slowly one by one ensuring half the table were done eating before the last salad finally arrived. We had assumed our server's shift had ended because I never saw her again in the restaurant until I went up to get the check form the cashier. She thenpopped out from somewhere to take over printing out my check. I suspect we were auto-gratuitied looking back but she never mentioned it. I failed to check and was just dying to get out of there It seemed like there were lots of staff but where are they and what are they doing?? . People at tables were just rubbernecking around looking for someone. No one was on the floor. No one was out in the tables. No one was watching food, timing, drinks, turning the tables, etc. It was busy when we arrived but almost empty by the time we left. We were there for over 2 hours. I wonder if there are systems in place that were created out of inexperience and are now the sunk cost way of running things. Are there sections? Does the hostess know how to manage pacing? Does the server understand timing and to check the tables? I don't mean to sound pedantic, I just don't think there are people here who understand that the job is to manage the flow, "but was it busy?" Yes, it is supposed to be. If you cannot serve someone, you need to wait to seat them. If you can't handle the tables, close a section. Just filling tables and figuring it out is unfair to diners. Thank god you can go to the front to get your check or we might still be there. :( No owner response needed

For one, they hotly cook-up pizzettes, hot and very flavorful sandwiches, soups, coffees and tea. Right next to the register is a clear glass window box with all sorts of scrumptious sweets, muffins, cakes, tarts, choco donuts and cupcakes - that are made each day, I might add. The display is quaint and spot-on and each dessert is elevated on a tiny cake platter on a doily. Next, all the menu boards (above the counter and to the side) are easily legible, for elderly too. The menu that was handed to me was also not too complicated (2 sides) and was laminated, to avoid Covid. The staff was professional, bouncy (music), well prepared for groups that came and friendly. Some staff even remembered what some of the elderly in line wanted, before they ordered. How is that for manners and style?! Go kick rocks down an alley Starbucks! Lastly - the food and drinks here are simply very outstanding. I do not say that often. My cheese panini-style sandwich had layers of molten and hot cheeses, seared onions and somewhere in that mass also herbs and some dark mustard! It was scrumptious. They serve other classics like turkey, salami, ham sandwiches (some already wrapped for quick sale and go). The Athens Rooster is off the beaten (egg?), no track; (just kidding) but the parking is easy, there are lots of seats and even just simply placing (it's a small gesture, for sure - but chefs like me take note) a large jug full of free lemon water with clean cups on the bar counter at the front, really: makes all the visitors days. Cafe go-ers love those water jugs. Believe me! The Athens Rooster is a well maintained, bright and friendly late breakfast and late lunch spot. The grilled cheese and coffee stayed hot longer than 15 minutes after the sale. Very delicious! Top notch cafe - expertly prepared cuisine. Review: 5+

These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming.
