My best friend and I have been wanting matching tattoos for a hot minute, but we never knew what to get. We finally decided on a lighthouse, and the timing worked out for us to get it together when I visited her in LA! I got my first tattoo after debating with myself for 5 years with Sansa! She has the style of tattoos that I love which is brushstroke with the ability to add a touch of color for some pop. From the start to finish, Sansa was very knowledgeable and answered all the questions I had. She also provided a lot of guidance in terms of the style and she reassured me throughout the entire process. She also kept constant communication throughout the process of payment and what to expect on the day of as well as some tips for how to take care of wig myself before the appointment. On the day of the appointment, she made sure to give me a run down of the process and gave me a lot of time to decide placements and sizing. First, I would like to point out that this tattoo parlor is in the same plaza as Ocean Bo (Dim Sum Restaurant). My daughter had been asking (more like pestering) me to get her helix pierced for a while, and I finally took her as soon as she turned Sweet 16. I actually scheduled an appointment with Claire's to bring her in for a cartilage piercing. When I told her of the appointment, she made me cancel it ASAP! Her reasoning was that Claire's would use the gun instead of a needle, and it's not sterile. She asked me to look for a tattoo parlor for her piercings. That girl did her research! I happened to land on Baron Art Tattoo through Yelp and decided to read up their website. I was very impressed with how detailed they were. I tried to book for the next day appointment, but no availability. I called the shop and was glad to find out they always welcome Walk-Ins. Albeit it was near closing time when I called; the receptionist still answered the phone with patient, attentiveness, and thorough with her answers. ***I recommend checking out their website, it will answer a lot of your questions and you'll find the pricing list posted there as well.*** Please note: They do not allow you to bring in your own jewelry (I wasn't planning on bringing my own, I just thought it would be useful to list that piece of information here). We did a walk-in for her piercing. We were greeted with warmth and the receptionist asked me to scan a QR code for a consent form as my daughter was considered a minor by law. I had to upload her ID, my ID, birth certificate on the mobile application, and we both signed the waiver. Once submitted, I had to show both her ID and mine to complete the verification process. Baron Tattoo is very serious in its business practices and strictly adhering to protocols. Following the documents submission, my daughter was asked to select her jewelry pieces (only titanium grade and 14K allowed for new piercings). She chose the titanium pieces. Oliver was the artist that we saw. After prepping and cleaning the sites for the piercings, he marked the spots that she instructed, provided a handheld mirror, and asked her to give the green light. He explained the process thoroughly, and even gave her heads up on every step he took for the piercing. My daughter had her left helix and right upper lobe pierced. Both were done with individually packaged needles, two needles totaled (one for each ear). The process was very quick and easy, my daughter didn't feel her helix being pierced at all. It was quick and painless. She did feel a little pinch to the upper lobe, but it wasn't too bad. Once done, he explained to her all the steps for aftercare and what food to avoid. **DON'T FORGET TO CHECK IN WITH YELP TO GET 10% OFF (EXCEPT FOR LOBE PIERCING)** ***PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO TIP! I RECOMMEND AT LEAST 20%*** (I am not getting paid for this, but that's just how I am. It's common etiquette! It feels nice when we provide service to others and get a decent tip doesn't it?) I definitely recommend Baron Art Tattoo Studio and Oliver for your piercings needs. I am sure they do an excellent job with tattoos as well, but I can't vouch for that personally as I wasn't there for tattoos. After the piercing session, I received a detailed email for aftercare instructions. Oh when she got home, she definitely felt the pain on the left helix and it was not a good pain. I used saline to clean up the wound and allowed it to air dry. I also gave her Ibuprofen for inflammation and pain. Thanks to the piercing she was off to bed at 11PM! Usually, I would nag and nag and nag and she wouldn't go to bed early! read more
