She even let us try on an extra large and a large in order to see if the size fit. They had a good selection and we went with the black ones. They're cheaper than what I thought they would be, and we got matching masks for a wedding! I loved the barongs and I especially enjoyed the customer service. A lot of my friends have been trying to find Filipino Barongs around the Bay Area, my friends in the city couldn't even find any in Daly City so I checked out my local shop in Vallejo. They surely do have adult barongs and even toddler/children barongs! Perfect for baptisms! They range around $40 for children but about double the price for adult. They have all your Filipino needs here, santo ninos, devotionals, Maria Clara's and formal wear for women, and a variety of barongs. They're closed on Tuesdays and the lady running the store is always really nice and helpful. This is the spot if you're looking for barongs in the Bay Area. Sometimes they'll have Christmas parols but they don't have them as available or go quickly. Unacceptable communication. I called in advance to make sure I can try on the barongs to check out the quality and texture of the clothing. I told the lady that I had to drive far and wanted to make sure I can at least try them on to feel the textiles and comfort. I rarely make a scathing report but this person not only lied to me, but wasted my time. What kind of clothing store doesn't allow a person to try on the clothing before making a purchase decision? I'm still in shock that this lady tried to explain herself that I misheard when I asked her several times on the phone prior to my visit that I can try on the clothes because of the commute. My mom just bought a shawl here and a brooch. She took it home and unfortunately the shawl did not match her dress. Thus, we tried to return it as she's not able to use the shawl and brooch, but the salesperson said they do not accept returns. Really? She only had it only for 1 day and has never worn it. It would not be so bad but the small shawl is $64 and the brooch is $30+ totalling over $100. This is a lot of money for a Senior citizen. The salesperson should have told her that there is a no return policy. If she did, we for sure would not have bought the items as we were unsure if it was going to be a perfect match to her dress. Let me first say that the customer service here is 10/10. We came here on a none busy day when Jhane and Raquel manages to help me with what i needed most for my wedding day. I was able to find my barong and it was unique. Very satisfied with what they have showed me. They offered many varieties of barongs. They were also able to find my fiancé's a nice dress. Along with my kids barong. They have the perfect clothing for my event. I can't be thankful enough of how much relief i felt knowing i will have the best wedding representing their high quality of dresses and barongs. There are lots of color choices and designs for Barongs (filipino formal shirt) and couldn't make a decision. Hours are inaccurate. All platforms such as Google, Yelp & even their own website says they are open on Tuesdays. Drove over 1 hour from the South Bay and was extremely frustrated & disappointed to see them closed. There is a small sign on the window that indicates "closed" on Tuesdays. Wish they would've made more effort to update the online info. Super inconvenient for customers traveling from across the bay for this specialty store. Highly recommend calling first! Awesome little shop right next to the Seafood City supermarket! I have a wedding to attend next week, and I desperately needed something to wear. So I said, "I think I'm gonna go get me a Barong Tagalog!" I didn't have the time to get myself measured and have it custom-tailored, so I went to Barong & Formal. I ventured out here last Friday, and I met a nice lady that went by the name of "We." She was very nice and sweet and even helped me put the barong on. I was surprised that they had my size, because I'm a pretty big Filipino! We found a pina barong that looked great on me. I didn't have enough funds in my account, so I asked if she could hold onto it until Sunday. She had no problem with that, and I came back on Sunday where she welcomed me with a smile on her face. I bought it along with a white undershirt, and it came out to just under $130. I don't think that's a bad price at all. I bought my son's barong here for his communion over six years ago. We came here today looking for a barong for his 8th grade graduation. I found a few places where you could buy them online. However, I wanted for my son to be able to try on the barongs to make sure it fits right, looks good, and most importantly, he likes it. Came in the store. The lady took a little bit of time to help us. She also seemed too scared to help us out. We were wearing masks and sanitized our hands before we entered the store. I asked if my son could try on the barongs. She said because of the pandemic, my son can't. Okay. I asked if we could return it, if it turns out it doesn't fit right. She said no. She said she can put it on his back to see if it's the right size. Lady, are you crazy?! That's like buying a suit or tux without trying it on. I understand there's a pandemic, but why even open your store if you have this ridiculous policies in place? You could get a steamer to sanitize the barongs after they have been tried on. We went here recently to look for a Barong Tagalog for my son's 1st Communion. It was easy to find and there were a lot of Filipino stores next door. I found a Barong perfect for the little man with help from the nice Sales lady. There were a lot of different styles of Barongs and I amazed on how many different varieties they had to offer. Wow! It's super expensive here. I had always passed by the shop whenever I was at Seafood City and I finally paid this store a visit this week. The nicer Maria Clara dresses are around $500 and barongs are $200. There are of course simpler styles which cost less but those were the prices for the nice ones. It's cheaper to just have it made or ask a kamaganak to buy you one in the Philippines. Nice designs though. The lady at the counter kept asking me if I needed help I wanted to just look at the items myself but she kept asking me what was the occasion for and I said for anything but she kept asking me about 10 times what the occasion was for even though I told her 10 times over that it was for anything. The worst service EVER! The people who work there are rude... Bastos talaga!!! My fiancé and I walked into the shop looking for a barong for him and our two boys. At first they were nice and helpful, but I guess they didn't want to show us the different styles of barongs. My fiancé was looking to buy a barong for our wedding, so he wanted to make sure he found the right style. (He wasn't going to buy the first "nice" barong he saw that cost $250). They insisted that the 2nd one they showed us was the "nicest" one. We still wanted to see more styles to be sure that there wasn't something we were missing. You aren't allowed to try on the barongs that they have. Instead you're only able to try on the plain samples for size.... After trying on a few, it seemed like they were rushing us to make a decision so that we can buy and go... 1 lady helped us while the other was behind the counter eating. When we wanted to look at the different styles for our boys, we asked to see what different embroidery work they had cause we wanted to find the same style if not closest to their Dad's style barong. Instead the lady eating her food stood up and said in a RUDE tone, "what style are you looking for?" I told her that we don't have a particular style in mind because we're not familiar with the "STYLES".... If we were, obviously we wouldn't have asked. The other lady who was helping us rolled her eyes.... JERK. So I told my fiancé, "LET'S GO!" I didn't understand why they were rushing us, we were the only people in the store (2 adults and 2 kids) and there were 2 of them to help us. The other one ate and the other one (kind of) helped us. The other one who was eating only put her 2 cents in I guess when she felt like she had to get off her butt and work. I would give this place "NO" stars, but yelp wont allow it. So I guess 1 is good enough to show that this place is "TERRIBLE!!!!!".... If you just want to buy a barong and not care too much about what your buying, then this is the place to buy... Basically buy and go.... There are 2 other places to buy barongs in the bay area. 1.) www.weddinggownsuperstore.com / Wedding Gown Superstore located in Fremont off of 880/Stevenson. It's a bridal store that sells wedding gowns, but they also sell barongs there. The lady who owns the portion of the store that sells tuxedo's and men's wear, sells the barongs. She is really nice, patient and HELPFUL! You can try on ALL their barongs. 2.) Pioneer's Tailors & Alterations 2963 Mission Street, San Francisco (415) 334-6034/ We went to this store after we left Vallejo and the man who helped us was SO nice. Gil & Beck are the owners of this little alterations shop that sells barongs. They were actually closed that day but saw my fiancé walk up to their door, and they were kind enough to open their shop to us. They live above their little shop, and they have a nice selection of barongs. They were helpful and patient. Not only did they tell us we can wait a while to make a decision, but they told us they'd hold my fiancé's barong and my 2 boys barongs for a couple weeks. If you buy your barong from them, they will do the alterations for free if there is any needed. Needless to say, we decided that we are going to purchase from them.
