This is the best pizza I have ever had in my entire life. The bacon was so crispy and flavorful, the crust was perfect. I'm a huge germophobe and I dropped a piece on the table and snatched it up within seconds to stuff it in my mouth without even thinking about it. We ordered from here last week... We got the mac & cheese bites, poppers, mozzarella cheese sticks, Italian fries & 2 belt busters... The bad... The belt busters were cooked to medium-well (I asked for well), the top bread on our sandwiches was so hard that we could NOT bite through it we had to put a tiny bit of water on it & nuke it so it would be soft enough to eat... other than those it was good even though it could have used either some steak seasoning or at least garlic & onion powder mixed into the meat for a little more of a flavorful taste... The indifferent... the cheese sticks weren't great nor were they bad... they were your typical cheese sticks... for the price I honestly expected something a little bigger and maybe with a touch of Italian seasoning added to the breading... The Good... The poppers were really yummy BUT I wish they offered both the cream cheese filled and the cheddar filled since I had a taste for the cream cheese version lol... The Italian fries were SO good!!!! But for my Hubby they were okay because he can't handle the red pepper flakes lol... The AMAZING... Stopped in again on Sunday 4/19 and had another great experience. Sausage pizza this time, and a medium thin filled up 2 adults. No service concerns at all. Stopped in here on my way home from a u14 soccer match with the locals. We ordered a large pizza for 3 adults and had all meat. The pizza was very good, as was the bread and the selection of beers on tap. The only hiccup was that I saw the bartender draw my beer and set it on the bartop. The waitress was nowhere to be seen so I went and picked it up myself, which was good because the waitress didn't appear for another 5 minutes. I waited 40 minutes (was never told a wait time)for one slice of cheese pizza and when I received it cheese was hanging out of the box and I wasn't even offered napkins or a bag. I didn't check how it looked until I got home and at that point I was too angry to go back. The pizza crust was sort of unattached from the rest of the pizza, you could pull it apart and cheese was all over the place. By far, the worst food we have ever eaten. A truck stop serves better Italian than this place. I was horrified to see what was delivered from the kitchen. A sauce poured from a tin can probably Hunt's completely covered the pasta then it was clear they set the microwave on the popcorn setting rather than just a few minutes to heat up the food they may have grabbed from the lunch buffet 5 hours prior to our order. My first time here for dinner and beers with my brother. We sat at the bar since the restaurant was full. The food was pretty decent and the bartender was attentive. Prices seemed a bit high in my opinion. Whoever the manager that was on duty really needs to take notice when he has an off duty employee sitting in the bar all night quite drunk and yelling very loudly with his friends. I have a headache right now from all of his yelling. He was yelling at every employee that was working, yelling about how he won money on video poker, yelling about the wait to get a drink and yelling about how another employee is a bitch. And too many places within a one minute drive that you could have an equal quality meal for nearly half the cost. My wife and I went to this place on Monday, which happened to be President's Day, we had a groupon ticket and - Hey why not just let my wife describe what happened: "To all my FB friends that live in the Chicago area I am asking that you do not support Barraco's Pizzera. We had a groupon and called today before going there and told them we had a groupon and we wanted to know if we need reservations for tonight. They said no just come in. Once we got there the waitress said they are not supposed to be accepting them on a holiday but they would accept it anyway ...because the manager said they could. After we were done eating that waitress came to our table and said they could not accept it because the owner came in and said no but the mgr on the earlier shift told them they could accept them and they had accepted them earlier in the day. After speaking with the manager we asked to speak with the owner. The waitress came back and told us they decided to accept the groupon. When she brought our bill she said that she would be responsible for the amount as well as the other ones she accepted today. Why is it that when a mgr makes a decision the workers are the ones that have to pay. Knowing how hard these waitresses work we decided to pay the whole bill and never go back again. As my husband told the Mgr the way they treat their employees is deplorable." With that be very well stated, personally I didn't think the food was all that either - we went there once before and I had the lasagna, and really their was something wrong with the sauce as it had an off flavor, this time I had the shrimp dinner which was nothing more than 6 breaded shrimp that one can buy in any frozen supermarket - my wife had the eggplant - and it was just ok as well. We called in reservations for a party of 10 11/13/15 for 10:00 pm that evening. When we arrived, our table was not ready and then the service was horrible. Our waitress, Amber (redhead), had brought drinks and of course with our party being rather large and with new patrons, no one knew what they wanted. She had given us a few minutes and then came back. The party still was not ready but she made the comment "I feel like I'm just standing around..." I damn near lost my mind and that's when my whole attitude towards her and this establishment changed!! You're a waitress, the word "wait" is in your job description!! We finally got ourselves together and ordered drinks and our food. I don't think that I've ever waited this long for a pizza in my life!! It took almost an hour for four thin crust pizzas to come out and the restaurant was practically empty. We were cold, hungry, and upset. I got a medium cheese pizza and fries from here and they were delicious. The only thing that I didn't like was how long the delivery took. I live fairly close to the restaurant and it took the delivery guy almost two hours to get to my apartment. Then when I paid him he didn't have change so he had to go back to his car (another 10 mins) and get the change. Horrible experience last night here. My husband got a chicken parm sandwich that cost $10. The chicken was not done. He took one bite which he spit out and cut in the other half to see if it was done. Told the staff the chicken wasn't done and he didn't want anything else. Upon receiving the bill we learned only half was taken off the bill for his sandwich. We complained and were told by the dining room manager (and I use that term very loosely) told us that he didn't have the authority to take any more than half off the bill. Isn't that a managers job? He also argued with us and told us that over half the sandwich was gone when he saw it. I don't know where it went but I know my husband didn't eat it. Food: Good Service: Great Issue Resolution: Terrible I'd been ordering from this location about 3 times a month for about 3 years before running into my first problem. Unfortunately, the way they handled the problem was atrocious. This happened in 2009, but I wanted to wait to post the review so I wouldn't get a delivery guy fired. I also waited until I got a new cell phone number so the manager over there wouldn't spit in my food every time my number came up. You'll see why... I had several friends over and I ordered three large stuffed pizzas as well as a few appetizers. When it was delivered, I was surprised to see that they had delivered three small thin crust pizzas. I told the delivery guy. He told me to keep the three small pizzas and he would return with our correct order. Apparently, he made the call to the manager on the way back because within 2 minutes, I had a call from the manager. The man was literally yelling at me as if this was my mistake! I told him the receipt was for almost 100 dollars and listed three stuffed pizzas. He then told me that he would send out the correct order, but he wanted the three small pizzas back. I told him my situation. I had a dozen hungry guys who'd already been waiting an hour and the delivery guy said we should keep them. He said, and I quote, "I really don't give a... (pause) I don't care! And that kid's an idiot. He shouldn't have told you nothin'. If one of those pizzas come back with even one bite taken out of it, I'm charging you for all of them!" He then hung up on me. The same delivery guy returned with the correct order. He apologized profusely. I handed him the three untouched pizzas and he handed them back. I asked what he was doing and he told me, "My manager told me to get the pizzas from you, crush them while they're still in the boxes, and throw them in the garbage while you watched. That's just stupid, so take 'em." I thanked him, gave him a $20 tip, and that was it. I haven't ordered from them in almost 2 years until tonight. I didn't deal with a manager tonight, but the food was as good, but not as good as it used to be. So, I'd say the the restaurant is a solid 4 star pizza joint as long as you don't have to deal with the manager. If you have a problem and get the manager I dealt with, expect a 0 star experience with a side of insults and aggravation. Oh, yeah, and I'm guessing "chips" the reviewer is the owner or manager. The only reason he is even here now is because we have been on the phone with him for 30 minutes giving him the most basic directions. Could have been a disaster but turned out great. Went here a few weeks ago with a very large party (23 people). My sister had called twice about the reservation indicating the number of people. I was among the first group to arrive and when they took us to the table it was only a table for 10. My sister was very unhappy and told them they had made a mistake. They asked us to go back to the front of the restaurant while they got the area set up for the entire party. They had to relocate a couple of people at some smaller tables to accomodate our group but we did end up with 2 tables right next to each other. The arrangement worked great. We had barely sat down and gotten settled when several large trays of appetizers appeared. They were complimentary due to the mistake with the reservation. This was really appreciated. Came here for a private party (in the party room) and I have to say I was impressed!! The food was very good (the pizza from Barraco's is always good and I've visited other locations in the past). We had salad, and then family style: fried chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, vegetables, and pasta alfredo, ice cream for dessert. I would like to come back to try the regular menu. Service was fantastic!! It truly was! I would recommend. Here's a tip... They have parking in the back behind the restaurant. The take out here is great! Food has always been hot and delicious. Delivery has been timely with friendly staff. We have only used the Crestwood location. Their menu is extensive, with Italian dishes being their specialty. My wife and I hate to cook now, so we are really happy we found them. They have everything except Mexican. read more
