I stopped in because I was looking for something new. Usually I'm not in the area, but I'd seen this place numerous times. I skimmed through the reviews as we all tend to do now, and figured I'd give it a shot. Let me say, it did not disappoint. I ordered a sausage and pepperoni pan pizza and XL half cheese half pepperoni. The pizzas were great. The sauce is very tasty, as the reviews stated. It's a sweet sauce so be prepared. The crust had a good crunch with a hint of char that gave it a brick oven feel even though it wasn't. Both pizzas also came with a 1 liter soda of your choice. The real star of this place was the service. You know the place is special when you're the only one they ask 'What's the name?'. Everyone coming in, I hear being addressed on a first name basis. I hear them telling long time customers, 'I see you changed it up today'. That was so awesome to see. So many places don't take that time. I got to meet Natalie and Frank. They run the place. Oh! And one of their sons. They were awesome. Took my order and while I was waiting kept conversation with me about any and everything. Was such an easy vibe, felt like they were long time friends which was nice. Didn't have to go wait in the car or sit there in silence, they made you feel included. They mentioned the BYOB patio they open right next door in the summer. Which I've seen before and plan to enjoy with the family. Overall, I enjoyed this place. The pizza was good, the people and service amazing. Not much more you can ask of a pizza spot. I will be back and if you're ever in the area give it a shot. This is the best pizza in the Chicagoland area. I used to live right down the street and grew up eating it. Now I live in the suburbs and will make the 45 minute drive to Tatas! Have yet to find any other pizza place that is as good. The pizza is always hot out of the oven. The sauce is absolutely wonderful, perfect amount of sweetness. Most underrated pizza on the south side. Mom and pop place run by a small family spitting out great pan style pizzas. Not as visible as Milano's or Fox's, but honestly it's better than those two. Tata's pan style crust is thicker than their their southside competitors and the sauce is a little sweeter than you'd expect, but it compliments the crust well. The slightly charred pepperoni is my favorite topping, and it's nice finding places that offer non standard toppings like roasted red peppers. Only downside I've found is that leftovers don't hold up very well in the fridge, the crust tends to soak up the sauce and gets a bit soggy...but we usually don't have many leftovers! read more

Not bad! Came in fourth in our Caddie Pizza Rankings and so I was obligated to try it. Plus, Kevin (the looper--you probably know him) is always talking about Tata's, so I gave it a go. It's a little sweeter than I normally prefer, but I did not seem to mind it. One day when the Missus and the kids weren't home, I got a large sausage pizza and intended just to eat a couple of pieces, leaving the rest for the family because a) I care about them and b) I wanted to look like a kind, self-sacrificing mensch. Well, I sat there for a half hour eating. Usually, I watch tv or browse the Internet (those are my two favorite hobbies) while I eat, but I just sat there, focusing on the pizza. In the end, I left one piece for the other four members of my household. However, thinking I'd be seen as stingy rather than the giving, caring, other-directed person that I am, I consumed the final piece in one glorious, gluttonous bite, one final gulp of gastronomical glee. That was some dadgum fine pizza. And as for Kevin? Last I heard, he was getting all dressed up like he was going to prom and reading books to kids. (Kevin sent me a photo, but I didn't see Kevin in the photo--it was all women with real big shoulders--so I think ol' Kevin sent me the wrong photo! No problem, though.) I tried Tara's pizza in this past October 2023 and wow!! I haven't had pizza that good since 1971 when I lived in Chinatown near the old Riccabenes Pizza. Tara's is AWESOME, the sauce is like sauce suppose to be thick and rich with a lil kick. I can't wait to get to large ones when my family come here for Xmas. Ok, the pizza is good, better than most in the Beverly area. BUT.... with that said, if you are having it delivered, best not. I ordered a LG half sausage half pepperoni. Now with it being holloween, I gave them a hour and a half room to deliver, put in my order at 5pm, so expected to eat by 6:30-7pm. At 7pm, np pizza and took me 30min to get through the line, just to find out, someone had came (and supposedly rang door bell), first they had wrong number, and no doorbell was rang. So they sent pizza again, this time i left a not on door to ring 2nd doorbell. So driver calls me that's hes outside, ooooookkkkkk, it is now 8pm. And to top off this bad delivery, no sausage on my pizza. , and I could not get through the line, went to voice mail, to even complain about it. So we ordered a pizza from Beggers , got it in 30min and with sausage. Smh. Will never order there again. Update... my boyfriend tried to order a calzone, and manager asked if I was the one who did review, he said yes and he refused him service, lol, one would think that they would try to make up for bad service but I guess not, so be for warned, if you give a bad review, they will refuse you service, smh. read more

This review is a long time in the making, but last night prompted me to finally do it. First, before I say anything else - I have NEVER had a bad pizza from Tatas. They're amazing in that respect. The issue and what's not so great is simply how they run their business and their consistency when it comes from an hours of operation standpoint. My wife grew up in Mount Greenwood. We would frequently have TaTas when I visited her when we were dating. We've lived together out in Lake and McHenry county (Johnsburg now) for over 10 years. We regularly make trips to the south side to see friends and pick up pizza (usually beggars or fox's for my mother in law and TaTas for ourselves). If the food isn't an issue, what is? If you look at the website, you get one set of hours. Google has an entirely different set of hours. So does yelp, Facebook and any other site they appear on. The hours they work and stay open have not ever matched what is posted or available to find online. On at least a dozen occasions, I've called while they should be open (7pm on a Saturday night) and I get their voicemail, which isn't set up and is always full. They simply don't stay open and aren't in the building when they say they will be. The food is great, but I don't know how as a business they remain open when they can't be available when they say they will. Last night, hours on their site say 9, google says 10, I think Facebook said 11pm. I was buying pizza for 8 people and it would have been a sizable order. I called at 7:45, no answer. So, being that I was only over at Pulaski and 109th, decided to take a ride over. Building was locked up, dark, and clearly not open when ALL of their information said they would be. I drive nearly two hours from McHenry county to get their food and visit friends and they're not open. Talk about disappointed. I hope the owner sees this and understands how much greater their business could be with a little consistency. read more

Excellent pizza. Handmade pizza dough, and really fresh ingredients. Family owned business which is really nice to see in the neighborhood. My favorite is the Jesse's Ricotta. It has Ricotta cheese and fresh tomatoes. The beefy Angelo is also one of my favorites. It has fresh slices of Italian beef, giardinara, and 3 different types of cheeses. It was absolutely delicious. Sweet sauce which I love, very cheesy, thin and crispy crust that was perfect. I got the spinach and tomato. I wish they would open earlier and stay open later. I bet they would do well. This will definitely be my new go to pizza place. Also, delivery was fast and hot considering we are in the midst of a polar vortex. A place offering legitimate vegan pizza (read as also: with soy cheese! Squee!) within a reasonable driving distance (to get some take out nosh, that is) and for a reasonable price (a small, plain "cheese" cost less than twelve bucks)? Oh.hells.yes. Now, listen. I've been doing the vegan thing long enough to eat plenty of 'za (probably far more than I should ;) sans cheese, sneaky egg washes, and the like. But sometimes a girl just wants to get up on a soy-cheese laden slice of deliciousness. Amirite? Now, some of the obvious pluses are price and location (at least for me). We also ordered at, say, six-something on a Friday night & twenty minutes later, we had a pizza in our car, ready to rumble. We went with the straight up "cheese" (which, from the looks of it, is Teese) because I wanted to see this beauty in all it's glory before filling it to the max with veggies (next time). Here's my quick analysis: 1. It was cut beautifully. This is a big plus in my book. 2. The crust was interesting in a good way. Light and flaky but with enough body to hold up all the goods. 3. The sauce was interesting in an interesting way. It was sweet, but almost had a kick to it. Jury's out on this one. I usually gravitate more toward a simple, robust sauce but this was not bad at all...just interesting in an interesting way. 4. The "cheese"...was....well, good but it needed some help. Teese comes in round tubes and it was pretty obvious that they did the old slice-and-slap with the circles. This left some gaping sauce parts, and some areas double coated with cheese. Another gripe of mine? Cut the slices thin if you're not going to grate them. There were a couple of bites where I actually had to deep six cheese since it was pretty much like a foot deep (okay, not really...but you catch my drift). Ultimately, while I know it's a PIA, grating the cheese is the way to go. Or hell, switch to Daiya where it's already shredded. (And admittedly, I'm biased there since I loves me some Daiya.) But I wasn't impressed with the whole drop a slab here, drop a slice there, drop a slab here routine. In short: yes, I will order again and next time with veggies galore. Definitely worth checking this out if vegan pizza is your bag and you rock the southside something fierce. :) Oh, and PS - call first to make sure they're offering vegan pizza. My husband called once a few weeks ago and they weren't serving it that day. So to avoid any potential soy cheese disappointment when you get to Tata's, you might want to pick up the phone first. read more

This is a good pizza place. The food is always consistent. The problem is the ACTUAL place. They don't like to pick up the phone. I called just a half hour ago. They picked up after several rings. The girl yelled HOLD.......I held......for 6 minutes while I heard lots of kitchen noise and talking. I hung up. There are PLENTY of other pizza places in the area and they got my business tonight.
