My family sent me to Barracuda with no direction on what anybody wanted. It was happy hour, though I couldn't find a happy hour menu. I ended up just going down the line of tacos, ordering one of each. I also ordered the happy hour nachos (no idea what's on them), queso and chips and a margarita for myself to enjoy while I waited. I ordered everything without onions and pico. I even reiterated to the cashier that raw onions make me sick and to please double check my order. It's about 5:15 on a Friday. I've heard that it can get very busy but right now there are only about 6 tables occupied. It's pleasant though very humid tonight. There are several fans blowing but they aren't making much of a difference with the sticky air. I see duct work on the ceiling but don't know if it's heat or air, maybe both? All I know is that without air, eating here on a typical late July/August day would be suffocating. I quickly received my margarita and waited patiently for my food. After a reasonable amount of time, I'm heading back with two bags of yum (I hope). Once back, we open up the packaging to reveal what should have been the yum. And then my heart sinks. Onions. Everywhere. I'm so sensitive to onions that I can't even pick them off - even a bit of rogue onion can't be tolerated. "Yum" for me was going to consist of picking at what I could out of our meal and ending with a bowl of cereal. Skip ahead a month...I want to try Barracuda again. I think there is potential there. I'd like to sit outside and enjoy a couple of margaritas. I'm just going to wait until it gets a little cooler out. read more

Finally tried Barracuda Taco Stand, and I was a little disappointed--but overall, it was still a good experience. I ordered both the beef quesadilla and the shrimp quesadilla. They were both really good, but much smaller than I expected. I'm definitely glad I ordered two because one would not have been enough! Mom got the broccoli bowl and really enjoyed it. We also ordered a large guacamole. At first I thought it was pretty bland and nothing to write home about, but then I got toward the bottom and suddenly found all the flavor! Apparently all the good seasoning had settled down there because once I got a properly seasoned bite, it was really good. So if you get the guacamole, make sure you stir it first! My only other complaint was the lack of salsa. They gave us a small container of some kind of green sauce, but I honestly have no idea what it was. I personally eat my quesadillas plain--or with ranch because I'm weird--but I still feel like a taco stand should give you salsa! I also tried my first Mexican Coke, and it's definitely different from regular Coke. I really enjoyed it and would absolutely get one again. The service was wonderful. Everyone was very nice and patient with me while I ordered, and I really loved the outdoor atmosphere, even though we ended up taking our food home. Overall, the food was good, especially once I discovered where the guacamole was hiding all its flavor! I just wish the quesadillas were a little bigger and that salsa came with the order. I know I say this a lot, but this is perhaps the single best example of why I wish we had half stars on Yelp, lol. 3.5 if I've ever had one and I've debated for literal days on if I should round up or not and I'm still not completely happy with my decision to hold at a 3. I very likely will come back eventually and reassess; it's not super far from where I work currently so a revisit seems likely. Anyway, I came to treat myself to lunch after working on a Saturday. This establishment does not have indoor seating but it does have a huge parking lot and a large number of picnic tables under shade and with lots of fans. It was a blisteringly hot summer afternoon and honestly despite the fans and shades I wouldn't have been comfortable sitting there, but I can imagine in the evening or during a more temperate part of the year it would be a lot of fun to sit outside, have a margarita, and hang out. There's a large ramp leading up to the window where you order and I was surprised by the size of the line when I arrived. This is a relatively new establishment but I thought things might've died down a bit by now, but that isn't the case just yet. The line moved quickly enough though and soon I was able to order. The woman working the window was adequately friendly and polite. I placed my order to go and didn't really get any instructions on where to wait or pick up, so I went and sat at a picnic table. After a moderate amount of time, another employee came and found me and said "I thought I might find you here." His tone was a little off-putting but that definitely could be me being sensitive; it sort of felt like he was annoyed he had to hunt me down to give me my order. I wonder if I was supposed to wait at a window or something. Some clarity about protocol for takeout would help the experience. My order was packaged nicely and had all the items you'd need for takeout. I ordered two tacos, the chicken tinga (apparently on special) and the broccoli taco, with a side of chips and queso and a limeade to drink. I liked both the tacos fairly well. The chicken tinga was absolutely loaded with toppings - a little overwhelming in the lettuce department, but the large hunk of pulled chicken beneath it was tender and juicy. The slightly spicy green salsa that came with it really upped the flavor. The broccoli taco was very unique. I pulled out some of the larger onion pieces as I just don't like onions that much. The taco had a lot of enjoyable, slightly smoky/charred broccoli flavor and the broccoli was cooked well - still had some snap to it. The tortilla was a little overly soft/floppy and the sunflower caesar dressing had a very bright, slightly sour flavor that didn't land perfectly for me. But overall I thought it was interesting and Huntsville needs interesting offerings like this one - especially for vegans and vegetarians. I'd probably order it again. The chips and queso were pretty standard though the consistency on the queso was nice and ultimately I've never really had chips and cheese that didn't make me a little happy. The biggest deciding factor on the 3 vs. 4 was the limeade. It was pricy and to be honest was indistinguishable from Minute Maid. Using Minute Maid is disappointing, and if it was homemade, well then...homemade limeade tasting like MM is maybe even more disappointing. I love a good limeade and this one wasn't it. That aside, I do also feel like the price was a little on the steep side too, though in their defense I had a pretty big order and I didn't leave hungry. I think with some minor adjustments to my order I could have a 4 star experience here. I like the vibe overall and will likely try again in the future with friends or coworkers, hopefully when the weather better suits outdoor dining. read more

Came by to try a few tacos. It's a taco stand with outdoor seating only but it's covered. There's plenty of places to sit and a ton of cute decorative greenery and cacti. You order at the window and they'll bring your food to your table. They had a specialty taco item that was made with chicken and topped with pineapple. I also tried the pork taco. Both were good and enjoyed. The sauce that came on the side was super spicy so definitely recommend trying a taste before committing. read more

Really enjoyable meal, came here on a local recommendation. I was about #10 in line when I arrived about 530 on Wed night. I thought that wasn't bad but the order at the window definitely takes some time. All the service staff is super friendly knowing there will be a wait. By the time I ordered the line grew to about 25 to 30 folks. Good news is I ordered a the drinks were ready fairly quick for pickup. By the time I put things at the table and got my napkins the food was there. They ask you to order prior to seating, please do so because that helps their system work. I had the broccoli, shrimp and fish tacos with chips and queso. Can't forget the margaritas. The tacos were great, perfect amount of acid and fresh cabbage. Ask for the spice because that really goes with the pomegranate seeds they put on. Really happy with all three. The queso was standard queso with store bought chips but I did not mind it. Their margaritas were also good, I know they make them in bulk but was fine with them. They have breakfast there which I am sure is good. It is all outdoor seating which is fine on a perfect spring day. Just be patient if going close to dinner or happy hour. read more

Great new casual taco spot near downtown Huntsville! Barracuda tacos offers a great variety of tacos, including a tasty broccoli vegan taco! Other menu items include quesadillas, breakfast tacos, queso, margaritas, beer, jarritos and a variety of sides. The vibe is very laid back, just walk up to the window and order, grab an outdoor bench picnic-style table, and your order will be delivered. We were the first in line for lunch and waited about 10 minutes for our order, which wasn't bad. Our food was delivered hot and fresh with just the right amount of sauce and spice! Our only negative, was the small tacos were a little pricey, with tacos ranging from $3.95 to $6.75 for their beef taco. There is a huge parking lot on site and plenty of tables, so bring your friends and family and enjoy a fun meal! read more

Wonderful new addition to (close to) downtown. A walk-up taco shack situation. Go up and order food at one window and drinks/chips at the other grab a number and take a seat. Downsides: No price on the margaritas and they are expensive ($15 for 16oz) lots of ice not a lot of marg. Outdoor only, so only good for nice days -- but lots of seating. Line to order can get a bit long. Meat was a little dry on the chicken and beef tacos. Upsides: Delicious margaritas - so fresh and tasty! Wonderful fish taco - could order so many of these. Fresh and flavorful. I loved the pork taco as well it has the pickled red onion which I loved. Look out for specials posted on socials or next to order window this week was chicken tinga tacos (looked wonderful)! HSV needed a fun outdoor patio vibe that serves tacos and margs ofcourse The servers were very friendly and our food came out promptly. Restrooms on - site ! The location is near the Furniture Factory and close to the intersection of Meridian and Pratt. I went around 7 pm on a Friday night and placed my order to go. There was a pretty decent crowd eating in the covered outdoor dining area. A few people had their pets. Someone said the Margaritas are very great there. Service was good. It took only about 10 minutes to prepare my food. I ordered the deluxe beef bowl with flour tortillas. The beef was a delicious grilled steak chopped in bite size pieces. The bowl came with pickled onions, cilantro rice, guacamole, beans, lettuce and topped with fried cheese. Total price was $22 including tax and a $2 tip for handing my order to me. Honestly, I felt it was a bit on the pricy side, but the food was delicious! I was very pleased. I give it a 10 out of 10! I will definitely be back! read more

I totally forgot to take a picture of my food because I was starving and had to get back to work, but the chicken and pork tacos with rice and beans were absolutely packed with flavor. Everything was fresh, seasoned perfectly, and just really yummy. I really liked the chicken taco, rice, and beans. They did forget to include salsa in my to‑go order, which was a little disappointing, but it was their soft opening and they were very busy, so I'm giving them grace. The food itself made up for it. I'll definitely be back -- and next time I'm bringing my husband and our dogs. There's plenty of outdoor seating in the front, on the side, and behind the building, plus lots of parking, which makes it super convenient. Great food, friendly service, and a spot I'm excited to return. Their first location was in New Orleans. This place doesn't give any change if paying in cash. If your order is 8.00 and you give 20 they keep the 12.00. This is absolutely ridiculous for a business. They have an accessible ramp to enter but you must take the stairs down to patio. Food was ok but not worth returning for. read more
