There are quite a few Chuy's around the south east. There is the Chuy's at the Summit. It has a sister store at Opry Mills. There is another sister store. It's this one and unfortunately, this one is the ugly stepsister. I've had Chuy's take out from here many times. The family fajitas were our go to during Covid. This was the first (and last) time we've eaten inside. We were first seated in a booth. The whole thing was vibrating. Kind of funny at first but it quickly became annoying. Of course the engineer husband had to investigate. The bar was on the opposite side of the wall and the frozen drink machine was against that wall. It was like sitting next to a washing machine. Since we hadn't been waited on, we went back to the hostess stand to be reseated. Though there were many empty tables, the booth she insisted we sit in was covered in sauces, food and lots of crushed chips. Obviously children had graced this table. (Maybe it's just me but I'd never even dream of leaving our table in that condition.). She grabbed a rag and while she was brushing broken chips under the table, onto the floor, my husband noticed another table being cleaned. Over the hostesses insistence that we wait for her to finish "cleaning", we sat at the freshly cleaned table. We were finally waited on. We were given water and told that they were refilling the chips and they'd be right out. We ordered and looked at each other as we waited for chips and that drool worthy white sauce. We received our drinks, me a grande house margarita, husband a Dos Equis. Our chips finally came shortly before our meal. We shared the green chili chicken enchiladas. They were ok though the chicken was very dry. I wouldn't order these again. My husband and I share meals quite often. This plate really wasn't large enough to share. Maybe if we'd been able to fill up on chips it would have been fine. We were presented our check. I did a brief once over. The marg caught my eye. $14. That wasn't right. I looked at the drink menu. It should have been $11. There was only one item on the entire menu that was $14 and this wasn't it. The engineer once again did a bunch of funny math and still couldn't figure out a way to come up with $14. We asked our server. He said happy hour was over and this was the upcharge. Huh? He said I ordered a flavored margarita. No. And it still wouldn't have been $14. He said he'd go get the manager. While we were waiting, my husband saw the manager a few tables over. He called him over. The manager said he had nothing to do with it, it was the system. (Uhm, yes, you do have something to do with it. You need to ensure your customers aren't being overcharged). He said he corrected our check. Great! For us. What about the rest of the customers? He said he sent an email. What about the rest of the margarita drinkers? Would they even notice they were paying more? I'm betting not. This obviously didn't seem like it was a big deal to the manager. After all, just about everything was wrong with our visit. Where does an overcharge rank in this mess? And speaking of messes. Two women were seated at the formerly messy table. I kid you not, I heard the crunch when they sat down. They both looked under the table to see the mess that the children and the employee made. I guess they didn't have to wait for their chips. Ick. read more

Ok, I'm not really a Mexican food fan. Tex Mex is typically a little better, but it's far too greasy and cab heavy as a general rule. The Flavors aren't well balanced. It's just not really my wheelhouse. I prefer Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, and other South/Central American food. They do a much better job with much the same ingredients. This was bad even for Tex Mex. My wife loves Mexican and it pretty much made her sick. Just bad in all respects. My advice is to avoid, but make your own decision. read more

This Chuy's is on par with others around the U.S. we have been to. We were there at opening on a weekday, so no wait and restaurant was pretty empty. Staff was good and attentive, food was good and hot. We will be back! read more

Came here on a Sunday afternoon with the family, it was pretty busy but we were promptly seated. Ambiance was fine, had a relaxed atmosphere with a bit of chatter. No rush from the servers to flip tables which is nice. Server didn't seem super attentive, would have been nice to see them more. I ordered the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo, wife got the Tortilla Soup, kids got the chicken tenders and fries and the soft tacos. Food took about 40-45 minutes to come out which is pretty surprising for a Mexican restaurant. Food looked really good (I enjoyed the prrsentation on the Elvis combo), but honestly it was pretty bland. The enchiladas and taco really really needed the sauces that came with them. I ordered a side of Boom Boom sauce because I wanted to see if it was worth $2, was OK. I was happy to see that all of the meals came with rice and refried beans (so many places in Huntsville only come with one and then try and upset the other), but the refried beans looked really old and congealed. Wife thought the Tortilla Soup seemed very fresh The star of the show flavor wise was actually the kid's chicken tenders. They were flavorful and moist and both the wife and I were impressed -- usually kids chicken strips lack flavor and are super dry. Value was decent. Went to this place today at lunchtime with a friend. I thought it would be packed. Not even a dozen ppl eating. The atmosphere was pleasant and service was okay. The only thing I can say that was good were the chips. The salsa was so hot I could not get past one bite. What I thought was white cheese dip was some kind of vinegar mayo concoction. I want to start off by saying, we absolutely love Chuy's!! We love the food and the fun eclectic atmosphere! We seek it out every time we go to an area that has one. Everything that I say here is with the genuine hope for improvement and by no means intended to bring anyone down. We were seated and given drinks quickly, but waited a while to order our food. Almost to the point of leaving just to move on. Probably about 45-50 minutes. I believe the waiter may have thought we already ordered and suddenly realized we hadn't. On this visit, we had cheese dip, guacamole, Chuychangas (One of our favorites!), tacos, chicken fajitas, and taco salad. The creamy jalapeño sauce, cheese dip, and guacamole were all excellent as usual. The main courses were not quite on par with what we have come to expect. Of the two orders of Chuychangas, one was nearly burnt and as a result, very dry on the inside. That same one also didn't seem to have any cheese, even though the other one did have a little bit. The sauces were still good though! The beans were very dry and we could hardly eat a bite or two. One of us requested the green chile rice, but did not find out until the plates arrived that we received Mexican rice. When we inquired, we were told that there was no green chile rice left. It would have been nice to know before hand, but things happen I suppose. The fajitas were requested without peppers but arrived with no vegetables and the chicken which was all that was left was quite dry. Thankfully the tortillas were still very good as expected! Salad was okay, but not the same as usual, and again the chicken was dry. As I mentioned before, we love Chuy's and intend to return. We hope to enjoy Chuy's again as we always have in the past. read more

We have always liked Chuys. Love the spicy ranch. Tonight was a completely different story. DayZha is the worst server! Put our meals down and it was more than 20 minutes until she checked back with us. Which wouldn't be a problem except my meal was wrong. From the corn tortillas to the wrong rice. When my husband was finally able to flag her down she said no it's right. my husband and I both tried it, no it was not. one rice is red ones green! Just not a good experience and a horrible service. read more

We usually love chewy's. Today was one of the worst experiences I've had in a restaurant ever! They left the wiped table so wet. Ordered a frozen margarita(which comes already made, out of a machine) and after 25 minutes, still wasn't brought to the table. Asked for manager, never showed. I could understand if the restaurant was really busy, but it was only a third full. I think the bartender was busing tables, instead of doing her job, which is getting drinks prepped for Service to the consumer. There was plenty of wait staff, but seemed so disorganized. We finally left money for soda and queso and left. We won't go back!!! read more

Let me just say the Mojito was to die for! I loved it!! The service was top tier as well. My server definitely took good care of us! They messed up my sisters order and fixed it with no problem AND took something off for messing up! I loved the queso as well it kind of reminded me of rotel . We definitely killed that bowl. Service was under par. Chips so thin they snap when you look at them. Salsa is nothing but puréed tomatoes. "Cheese dip" is nothing but ranch dressing. I have been here several times for Door Dash and the staff is outstanding, friendly and helpful. You don't wait long for orders where customers we deliver to would get upset for having delays. Never happens. Their food has to be great because this place is busy and I am sure they have many return customers. Restaurant looks clean every time I have been in there. I am going to try them this summer at some point because they look that good and the staff is that great. read more

I give it 2 stars b/c the wait staff and food are good but the hostesses do little to nothing..., texting on their phones and taking pics of themselves...all the while the wait staff are running around doing all the work. My top shelf margarita and the creamy jalapeño dip were 10/10. However, the rest of the dinner was 4/10 and did not meet previous expectations. Chuy's has been a long time favorite of mine, but I've only ever been to the one in Nashville. Every trip was perfect - the food was hot, fresh, and exactly as described on the menu. So when I ordered my favorite shrimp tacos on a bed of shredded purple cabbage and cilantro, I did not expect luke warm/cold tacos, on a bed of chunked iceburg lettuce, regular cabbage, red onion, and a few slivers of purple cabbage. I remember a fresh hot tortilla, finely shredded purple cabbage, cilantro, hot fried shrimp and sauce. My husband ordered chicken fajitas, and that was more like a chicken breast on top of some onions with a few bell peppers. I don't like writing negative reviews but it really just seems like no restaurant can uphold their standards anymore... It's incredibly disappointing to get a mediocre dinner when paying the price this economy requires. read more

I'm guessing that whatever kinks they were working out in June have been resolved, as we ate in last weekend and it was fantastic. Our server--as well as the server in training--was really kind and on the ball. They actually seemed to enjoy their job which--let's be real--is hard to find, particularly during a pandemic. Chips were fresh, hot, and tasty. The creamy dip was awesome as usual. The salsa seemed perkier than normal (is that a weird adjective for salsa? I don't care) and had a nice bite. The queso, which we usually skip, was addictive and had just a hint of kick. I got the Chuychanga (because of course I did) and it was delightful as always. They even did this cool thing (that the kitchen doesn't always think to do) where they put the sauce on the bottom so my fried tortilla goodness wasn't prone to sogginess. Better half got some sort of monster beef burrito thing (I think Chuy's calls it a "Big As Your Face Burrito" which is accurate) and inhaled it like it was the last supper. One caution: you are likely to be seated near large parties and they will often contain screaming toddlers. Deal with it. They may also throw Cheerios at you. This is not the server's fault. Tip them appropriately because, though you and your party may behave, other parties leave the equivalent of a box of Cheerios on the floor for them to clean up. read more

My family and tried this place for the first time and LOVED it! The salsa they bring out and the chips are wonderful. The food was very well prepared and came out in a timely manner. The waitress stayed on top making sure that our cups were never empty and was checking on us often to make sure we were good. The environment is very friendly and casual! Had a GREAT lunch. Our server was very attentive. Food was fresh and hot. The frozen margarita was one of the best I've had. They bring complimentary chips and salsa to the table. It also comes with an avocado cream sauce. That sauce was very tasty and a good departure from the normal salsa dip. Very good experience. I definitely recommend!!!! read more

My girlfriend and I went to Chuy's yesterday as part of my surprised date night and this was our first stop. My girlfriend and her friends are big fans of Chuy's, so I thought to myself "let's have dinner at Chuy's. She'll like that!" and with that in mind, I decided to give Chuy's a chance. I've always heard negative things about Chuy's, but after my first visit, I will be coming back. My steak burrito was delicious and my girlfriend said her burrito was delicious as well. The creamy jalapeño sauce that was brought to the table along with the chips was extremely good and I wish I could have more of it. I will be back to Chuy's and I'm glad my girlfriend has converted me to eating here. read more

I'm not a big lunch eater, but I had some time to kill, and went to this location. Asked about smaller portions and was happy to learn that's possible here. I ate at a hi-top in the bar: one ground beef enchilada, a couple of chips and salsa from the basket, and a perfect Dr. Pepper... wasn't rushed, wasn't hassled, enjoyed my lunch snack and was able to get on with my day. I've been to Chuy's about a half dozen times. The first time was memorable because the hostess ignored us for quite a while, while busily chatting with several severs who were leaning on the hostess podium pretty much blocking her view. When the hostess finally got around to seating us she was rather surly. We got past that and enjoyed the nice patio. It is nice that the patio faces east meaning not blazing hot and, if I recall, has fans. I really struggled to find something healthy-ish on the menu and opted for the fish tacos, which I understand are not on the new abbreviated menu (COVID issue maybe?). The complimentary chips were light and crispy and the salsa was fine. I don't know if we had guac or not. Interestingly enough, it took me 2-3 more visits to learn about the (I believe it is only available during Happy Hour) complimentary nacho bar in the bar area served out of an automobile trunk attached to a wall. You'd think the hostess or server would mention that offer as a selling point to you, especially on your first visit. Subsequently, I did try the comp nacho bar (my words - it may be called something different) and thought it was fine. Anyway, back to meal 1. My party raved about the jalapeno ranch, which I tasted and thought it was okay, primarily because I'm not a big ranch fan. Kudos to Chuy's for this dip that a LOT of people like! The fish tacos were fine, just not bursting with flavor, kinda bland, I asked for lemon juice to amp up the flavor a bit. Since they are off the menu now, I can't comment on how they were served. They are so good at Sandovals with the pickled veggies!! I wish Chuy's served them that way. Our server was the type who pretty much ghosted us, leaving us to seek out water refills, utensils, etc., however, she was quick to bring the check, when we were enjoying each other's company and wanted a second adult bev. She was very eager to turn tables and the restaurant was busy, but still - this *is* the hospitality business after all. We prevailed and relaxed over a second drink, despite the attempt at rushing us. Another visit was with my husband and a couple of friends. My husband absolutely loves burritos and he enjoyed whichever Chuy's burrito he got. one of my friends had the chicken tortilla soup and said it was good. The last visit my best friend and I met and sat at the bar. The bar service was good and this time I had a more "traditional" Tex-Mex plate, kind of like the typical Speedy Gonzales. Again, not much flavor. Without the salsa, the flavor would be reminiscent of Taco Bell. It was edible, by all means, just not rich in flavor. The decor is cute and again, I liked the "nacho bar" option, and the patio is nice and sizeable. They had a fun special that my friend enjoyed on Elvis Presley's birthday. She is a HUGE Elvis fan and she showed up dressed as Elvis and received something free. She really enjoyed that promo. :) I'll probably return if the husband specifically craves a Chuy's burrito. read more

I was excited to be visiting an area with a chuys, but I should have passed on this one. Be prepared to wait forever, get cold food, and be missing ingredients. We dined here for a late lunch on Saturday and there was only a handful of other tables in the place. Yet we waited 12min from being seated before anyone even greeted us, brought us chips or took our drink order. After 5 employees looked at us directly and saw us sitting there for an extended period of time. Ordered the Elvis Presley combo, the main plate of order arrived cold, and we had to ask for the second plate which had the taco and two queso covered chips. Our first time at the Huntsville location. We had Tiffany as a server and she gave good recommendations, so for service we also give a 5. We had a group of 6 so we kept her busy. We have one difference of opinion when it comes to the Grand Ma's Rockin' Rita, she suggested it and stated it was good, after a few drinks we felt it was heavy on the mix taste. We was not impressed. When we explained we did not like it and in place of it we wanted the Texas Tini she had not problems getting it changed. Now the Texas Tini was spot on! We could have drank several of those but just one gave us a good kick. The food was perfect. Out of 6 meals there was not one complaint. We will return the next time we are in the area. read more
