We recently tried Mazzaras this week and it was amazing. We had the roasted vegetables salad. The eggplant appetizer. And two delicious entrees. We made reservations and were seated on time. Our server was friendly and very helpful with recommendations. They don't have many cocktail options but they do have plenty of wine & some fun wine flights! This is a perfect place for date night, or a good place to try to show some people from out of town that hsv DOES have some hidden gems. Excellent service. Our server recommended the Carmela's meatballs as an appetizer so we went ahead and ordered that. There is no complimentary bread but the appetizer did come with a few pieces of focaccia. The meatballs were delicious! My only complaint is that it only came with 4 small meatballs. I got the Pacherri pasta which was a wide noodle and braised beef. The sauce is made from the beef as well as olive oil and Parmesan. I think I would've preferred a more flavorful sauce and can't say I'd recommend this particular dish to friends but the pasta was still enjoyed. My boyfriend got the pumpkin ravioli, which was very good. Would recommend. There are so many delicious sounding menu options and we're excited to come back and try some of the other features ! read more

Reviews were great so had to go. Jennifer was my server and she opened with a huge smile and was super friendly and attentive. Walked me through the menu. Nice setting and cute spot that was a repurposed Victorian style home. Super cool with great mood music in background. Started with olive and parmesan focaccia with a cesar salad. The focaccia was so good. It was warm, crisp exterior and nice soft and moist in the middle. The olive and parmesan paired very well. Excellent Cesar. The romaine was slightly roasted. All the toppings were moderate and all the moderation resulted in a great combination. The mix of the tomatoes, cucumber, parmesan chip, anchovies and cesar dressing combined perfectly. Nice job. Entree was the ricotta gnocchi. Freshly made, asparagus, tomatoes, mushrooms and spinach and shrimp swimming in a yummy white wine butter sauce. It come topping with fresh parmesan. ABSOLUTELY one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant. First of all, they were busy so make sure you book a reservation! My friend and I were lucky enough to score a bar top as a walk in. Our bartender, Pita (I hope I spelled that right) was such a joy. It was my first time so I told her to just surprise me the entire time. She gave me a wine spritzer to start off the night, recommended the mozzarella and meatball appetizer. She then told me that the veal Parmesan was to die for so naturally I got that AND the tiramisu...holy moly!!! Melted right in my mouth. There were a bunch of regulars there which means they have really mastered their craft of customer service and experience! Different take on Italian food. It was really good. Free street parking after 5 We had Fettuccine Alfredo which was fairly typical of all the higher end restaurants in town. Enjoyed a YELLOWFIN TUNA CARPACCIO appetizer. Caesar salad. Interesting in that they appeared to have grilled the lettuce. The dressing was good. The anchovies were white and whole. Shrimp Scampi appetizer was good. (I got charged for the scampi dinner but it was good so I didn't want to make it an issue. ) Neat old house. My food was good the pork cheek on the ragatoni was a good Touch to the meal and the ceased salad Is really good and beautiful . However not the biggest fan of the masala not sure if I understand the brussel sprouts In a cream sauce i think maybe capers or pancetta would be a better decision but it's a personal preference . We've never had a bad meal here, and tonight also did not disappoint. Elijah, our server, could not have been better. He even brought us complimentary champagne since it was better half's birthday! I don't drink but it was such a delightful touch. We started with mussels and their legendary focaccia, both of which were stellar. I appreciated the plating and attention to service. They even cleaned off our tablecloth (the mussels got a little messy, haha). I got the eggplant parmesan (divine, with housemade pasta) and better half got shrimp scamp (delightful). I thought both dishes could have used a little more salt, but I'm not going to complain about the skills of the chefs here. As always, it was a little loud but you're really paying for the food here. They truly want you to have a great experience and it shows. Highly recommended without reservations. Quite possibly the best restaurant in Huntsville with the running being between it and Domaine South. read more

This was one of my favorite restaurants in Huntsville until today. Meatball appetizer was very tasty, but the focaccia served with it was inedible (slightly burnt and tasteless). My husband was then served an entree that was completely different from what he had ordered. Our server acknowledged the kitchen's mistake and offered to prepare what he had actually ordered, but he opted to accept what they had already brought since my meal had already been served and would have been cold by the time his correct entree was prepared and served. We received a nice apology but that's all. There was no effort to "make it right" by offering any kind of price concession. (We had two appetizers, two glasses of premium wine, and two entrees, so there was plenty of room for a courtesy price adjustment.) Disappointing. read more

Experienced a great dinner dining experience at Mazzara's. The location is an unassuming home in downtown Huntsville. I was greeted immediately as I walked in. The service was great, and our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I ordered a glass of pinot gris, lemon ricotta ravioli, and the cannolis for dessert. The ravioli was so light and flavorful and I would definitely recommend it! The cannolis were ok, but I would try a different dessert next time. A disappointing evening. We had a party of 8 for a birthday and went back to Mazzara's having had a good experience previously. The waitress were good, but the kitchen service was a mess. We started with a $32 charcuterie board, which was a selection of cheeses, meat and pickles - presentation was lacking here, but the cheeses etc very tasty. At a good restaurant I kind of expect it not to look like they just peels the plastic off a tray and flipped it over onto a small chopping board. The $8 olives were from a $1 can - give those a miss. There were clearly problems with the kitchen service. We received half of the entrees, and waited at least 30mins for the other 4 meals. Not acceptable in a good restaurant. Everyone can have a bad night, but even the 4 entrees that initially came out were lukewarm. The food was tasty (I enjoyed the salmon) despite not being hot. That's as far as any praise goes for that. The waitress was very attentive, and could not apologize enough for the sh*tshow we were paying for. The manager did pay a brief visit, but was less convincing with his apology. They did in the end comp the desserts, but frankly it was the cold entrees that should have been. Doubtful to return - you don't get a second chance of messing up a $600 meal. read more

Our Server, Darby, was very welcoming & helpful in suggesting another dish, the Rigatoni & Chicken, since the Spaghetti & Meatballs (that I had read reviews about it really good) wasn't available. It was saucy & well seasoned, pasta was cooked perfectly. My daughter had the lasagna, it was saucy & well seasoned as well. The Baby Arugula & Radicchio Salad was delicious too. The vinaigrette on the salad, was so tasty, I wish I could have the recipe or a bottle of it. The focaccia with Sun-Dried Tomatoes & Garlic was fresh & flavorful. A couple colleagues and I had made a last minute reservation to come here, and we were all happy with our decision! The building is intriguing -- and antique house turned restaurant, there is precise detail put into the atmosphere of the house (if you look closely on your visit, you mind find a rabbi mouse close by!). We had to wait a few extra minutes, but the host and hostess were apologetic and even gave us each a glass of sparkling for our wait! All of our meals were delicious. Looking at the spaghetti my colleague ordered made me wish I had went with it, as it's pasta was made in-house, while the rigatoni pasta is not. My husband and I came here for a date night and were not disappointed!! We made a reservation beforehand and were seated promptly upon arrival. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxing. We started with the meatball appetizer. This was absolutely delicious. The only downfall was the portion size. I could've eaten so much more of this dish! The sauce was delicious, and we loved the bread for dipping. The meatballs themselves were dense but not dry. I would get this again. We then got the Caesar salad. This was very unique. I wouldn't say it is the best Caesar salad I've ever had, but I did thoroughly enjoy it! It comes out with huge pieces of lettuce, so be prepared to chop it up at the table. For the entree, we shared the shrimp scampi over pasta. It was sooo good. This was a lot smaller than we expected, so we probably could've gotten two separate orders. The sauce was light yet creamy, and I loved the amount of garlic in it. The shrimp were plump and perfectly cooked. We also each had a glass of wine, and their selection was great! This place is adorable in the historic house location, and in the smaller rooms can have the perfect intimate or romantics setting for a date night or dinner to catch up with a friend. I sat at the bar this time while visiting on my own, and the bartender was super nice and attentive! I started with a Nebbiolo, which the bartender was able to give me a sample of first and was delicious! For dinner, I ordered the pasta and meatballs. Everything about this entree was delicious, from the meatballs to the homemade pasta to the perfect meat sauce to top it all off! I regret not saving room for dessert, since I loved the tiramisu on my last visit, and every other dessert looked amazing as well. Hands down the best restaurant in town. I regularly go here with my best friends for book club or birthday dinners. The food is to die for. They make their own pasta and the quality of their food items and drinks are unparalleled for this area. The Osso Buco and charcuterie are amazing. I've tried just about everything on the menu and haven't had anything I dislike. Expect to pay 50-100 dollars per person for dinner. Lunch is cheaper. read more
