Customer service was ok. Had to yell to the bartender to figure out seating was on your own. I ordered the chicken and waffles bites thingy. The portion was quite big. The chicken was undercooked and bled some. So I barely picked at it. The waffles were good. I had a coffee drink which was ok too. Nothing fancy or spectacular about the place. I went to this restaurant while passing through Williamsport. I was optimistic because of the recent very high reviews. I was pretty disappointed. The California wine, Pinot noir, was reasonably priced but very forgettable. The salad was mostly just lettuce without many vegetables to dress it up. And the burger, which I had high hopes for was slightly greasy. All in all, I felt the meal was acceptable, but that's it. My fiance' and I ate there once and while the food was good it was just pricey for what we got. It has a nice atmosphere and out side patio dining which is where we ate. I had a burger which was quite good although personally I don't feel like paying over $10 for a burger. All the entrees are in the $19 to $31 range which isn't too bad unless your someone who works for a living. It seems the staff doesn't really work for a living, the service was slow and they came off as a tad snobby. It might not be too bad for some if you don't mind spending more for less. My husband and I dropped in last night--we were on our way home from a football game. We'd never been to downtown Williamsport but we figured we could find some cute place to eat. Well we did! We spotted it just driving through town and stopped in. We had a wonderful butternut squash soup that was the best I've ever tasted--a thick broth based soup that was spectacular--not heavy with cream. We then add a barrel sirloin steak (cooked perfectly and so tender), garlic mashed potatoes (but not too garlicky) and perfect haricots vert. The service by Helen was superior--there but not all over you--bringing silverware on an as needed basis without being intrusive. We are still relishing the meal. Ok, we were in Williamsport looking for a lunch spot, and Barrel 135 kept popping up so we checked it out. First of all, it was Friday 1 pm and the place was practically empty. That's always a bad sign, but this is Williamsport and there is never much going on downtown so it's s good bet nobody was busy - and maybe we did miss the lunch rush by a little - who knows. The place was staffed by a waiter/bartender who was amicable and did a good job taking care of us - and a couple of 20-something cooks out back in the kitchen. There is a lot of original for-sale artwork hanging. Bartender told us they rotate artists, making the place somewhat of a gallery. The place was freezing (no wonder, there were no people in the room). We asked to have the heat turned up and they did. I had a draft porter beer (forget name - it was similar to Guinness and was very good. My lady friends each had a split of a Spanish Cava - also good. No problems there. The overall service really was 4-5 stars to be fair, but it should have been seeing as we were the only table ordering food, or beverages. We were literally the only three people in the place. A couple other diners drifted in during our visit. At first some alt-rock music was blasting but it very quickly was turned way down without having to ask... I'm sure this place could be very noisy if full of people, but when we were there you could hear a pin drop. The food came out quickly and as-ordered. Again, no reason it shouldn't have since there were no orders ahead of us. The food presentation was also excellent - everything looked very professionally prepared. We first ordered baby greens salad with fig dressing and panko-coated goat cheese. This was by far the best thing we had. The goat cheese kind of melted out of a crisp panko coating, the greens were fresh and the dressing was delicious. 5 stars on this one. Now for the problems... while the service was 4-star, the food was really 2-star. The menu was really ambitious, the problem was totally in execution of what should have been excellent dishes. In a nutshell, there are a lot of Asian-inspired tempura and/or panko type items. We had several of them at our table and they were all oily/greasy and not crisp or well-drained. Their oil temperature was obviously too low to fry properly, as the Calamari was both greasy AND over-cooked. . Fish taco tempura fish ditto. Tempura sushi roll ditto. Over-cooked and greasy. Oil not hot enough to fry correctly. If it had been anything but lunch they would have all gone back and we would have paid for our drinks/salads and gone elsewhere. If that wasn't bad enough - I had a Pastrami Reuben. To be fair it tasted fine, but the presentation was horrendous - the meat was absolutely GRAY . It didn't look like it would taste fine -it looked like it had been left in the fridge a few weeks too long. My guess is that they pan-cooked the pastrami before assembling/ pressing the sandwich. Cooks take note: If whatever you're doing turns meat or fish GRAY - DO NOT DO IT. Gray is the wrong color . So overall - a very mixed experience. It's obvious the owners/chef knew what they were doing with the menu, but it was also painfully obvious that kitchen staff needed some serious supervision. This whole thing was well over $100 with the drinks so it's not like it's a cheap place to eat lunch. They might want to examine why, despite friendly service and a good menu they had an empty room at 1pm on a Friday -in my experience by far the busiest "let's go out to lunch" day . I think I described the problem pretty clearly. There are a dozen similar places around downtown Williamsport - none of them much better and some of them much worse - but still. Wake up owners and pay more attention to your kitchen. EDIT: I also need to mention - everything was served with their Gawd-awful house fries, a mix of sweet potato and regular potato hand-cut fries that should have been really good -but instead were PLASTERED with old bay seasoning and salt. Some other reviews complained about them and I concur totally. They're practically inedible. Literally 1/4 of the seasoning would have been the right amount. No-one with taste buds would think that their recipe was correctly proportioned. I'm not a fan of old bay seasoning and a little goes a LONG way for me - but the salt is what really killed the deal. And I like salty fries - just not this salty. The fries followed the same pattern of "greasy and over-cooked" at the same time . They have a real problem with their oil temperature. read more

This is the best restaurant I've ever eaten at. I literally reinstalled this app so I could let people know how good it is. The atmosphere, service, pricing, and menu are out of this world. My fiancée had sushi and I had the most mouthwatering, juicy, delicious burger ever. There's a ton of burger places in Williamsport, Barrel 135 is in a league of its own. My fiancée can't stop talking about how great the sushi was either. If you're in Williamsport and looking for somewhere great to eat do yourself a favor and go here. You'll thank me later. read more

Early on a Friday evening this place was an awesome bar. Basically a martini bar, they have a quite large martini selection. They make their own peanut infused vodka and serve a cocktail with that and cacao and creme called a peanut butter cup, I liked it but the peanut flavor was very strong so some might not. They also have a few different mojitos to choose from, I really enjoyed mine. The place had a quite high female-male ratio , my friends and I did not mind the presence of so many beautiful young ladies too much lol. did not try the food but it looked good. interior Has a modern , contemporary , sleek feel. Wonderful food and wonderful service! I'm so glad we have a place like this in Williamsport...the food is amazing. It's about time we bring some class to the city...and it really is great to have a nice restaurant that serves something other than Italian food. I had the avocado soup (delish!), and the beef sliders with chipotle remoulade (so good), and my sister had the tuna. I don't even like tuna and I could have eaten her whole meal. The fries are also great, and the drinks are fantastic. I especially like the Pop Rocks martini. We arrives late (8:30pm) and had no problem sitting outside with our one year old child. Plenty of mixed/ specialty drinks, though we had draft beers...and we were happy. Sliders and the burger were AWESOME!!!! Fries were great, and the fried mozzarella was great for the kid. I am from out of town, but this place would be busy in a big city, and I'd definitely come back...even just for drinks!!! read more

We've eaten at Barrel 135 4-5 times in the past year. As beer drinkers in a martini bar, we very much appreciate they have Otto's Slab Cabin (a locally brewed fantastic IPA) on tap (in fact, the poor beer selection, in general, in the Williamsport area is one reason we often find ourselves at Barrel because we know we'll be able to get Slab Cabin!). Our service has been great each visit (the last time, our waitress even read my non-verbal communication as I was finishing my beer and had a fresh pour for me before my glass reached the table). No complaints here. The food has been above average for the most part, too. My only complaint (and the reason for a 3 star vs 5 star review) is their prices do not match their food. They are insanely high and this is coming from someone who loves food/eating and will not blink an eye at paying top dollar for truly top dollar cuisine. Simply writing "fancy" descriptions on your menu does not warrant the prices being charged. Example. Two trips ago I ordered the Stuffed Portabello. (Not even seafood stuffed, mind you, spinach and cheese stuffed) It listed at $24. When it was served, it was 4-5 mini caps stuffed, much more appetizer oriented than entree. To warrant the high price tag, this should have been a LARGE cap stuffed w/either seafood or some high end cheeses. While it was good, it was not $24 good in either quality of presentation. Our last trip earlier this week we both ordered the Grilled Ribeye, Lobster Potato Puree, and Grilled Asparagus. The steak was cooked perfectly (though, I find it odd to serve a great piece of meat w/a steak sauce...). However, the "puree" was not even close to a puree, it was mashed potatoes. With no evident lobster. Another example of high end wording with average actual results. The asparagus was extremely anemic (probably because it's February in NE Pa). Again, change your menu to reflect the QUALITY produce you can get in season. If you haven't been here, it's def worth checking out, just be prepared to pay more than your meal is worth, but you'll have great service and a fantastic IPA to help balance it out... read more

Good martinis, but the food is average at best, and way over-priced for the quality. I've eaten 3 times there. Stay away from the Kale Caesar - flat out nasty. The special on my most recent visit, shrimp Pad Thai, was tasteless, and at $24 a ripoff for the 6 medium sized shrimp that came with the supposedly homemade noodles. Another visit I tried the French onion soup, and it was super greasy - there was 1/4" of grease floating on the entire surface of the soup, which was also quite bland. I would expect some serious flavor with all that grease but that was certainly not the case. The grilled octopus app was just so-so. The roasted sage chicken was tasty, but the mashed potatoes bland and dry - like reheated mashed potatoes get after a day or 2 in the fridge. The mussels app were quite good. Food is very good , a little pricey for area. Service is usually pretty good , tonight is my exception experience. Been here many times over the last 7 years visiting Williamsport, totally deserted tonight , however bartender is distracted and lack of attention to customers or me is painfully obvious. Should not need to remind him of the garnish for drink after 2nd one. Then have to ask where drink is after I ordered. Literally empty.I will not give up but hope someone is paying attention because this lack of attention to customers can quickly derail a business read more

Stopped in this tiny restaurant on the way through Williamsport and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. There is an extensive martini menu and a nice beer selection. I had a plain martini with olives and upgraded gin and it was prepared perfectly. We tried the deviled eggs for an appetizer. The filling was smooth and creamy and contained blue cheese chunks and something that gave them a zesty kick. Delicious! My grilled tuna entree was perfectly cooked and placed on a bed of fried pineapple rice and accompanied by a lightly battered and fried medley of squash and asparagus. The flavor combination was amazing! My husband also very much enjoyed his flank steak with fried sweet red peppers and onions served with potato wedges. There was a sign outside that said the new fall menu selections would be available on October 1. We will surely be checking back next time we are in the vicinity! I got a cocktail that was recommended and it tasted good but when asked about wine, they had no clue & no recommendation! Beer, yes, wine NO! Went in with three others for dinner around 9p--a whole hour before close. The place didn't smell like food. The bartender told us who our waitress was and said she'd be with us soon. We waited for over 20 minutes with not even a look from her as she walked to serve folks sitting at the bar. When we got up to leave, still no one tried to help us. Let me start by saying this review is based on the service I received, I can't comment on the food, but I do know some basic bar math... 1 shot / single = 1.5 fluid ounces 1 bottle of liquor = 750ml or 25.36oz's The # of single drinks per bottle of liquor = approximately 16 Now let me get to my complaint; some friends and I were enjoying some beers at the bar late on a Friday evening and noticed a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue label above the bar, for those unfamiliar, it is the most rare/expensive of the Johnny Walker series of blended scotches. It usually retails between $200 & $225 a bottle. Being a scotch buff myself, I've had it several times before, but none of my drinking partners for the evening had tried it. So I inquired about the price per single and was told $32. I've typically paid $25 - $30 for this in restaurants before, but what's 2 more dollars when you're talking about a $30 single. Anyhow, we ordered 2 drinks of the Johnny Blue, one for me and one for the friend next to me. When they were delivered to us in the standard single shooter style glass with 3 ice cube as we requested it was obvious that we had been shorted. I asked the bar tender how much did you put in there, she said 1 ounce. I fired back that a single is 1.5 oz's and she seemed to agree with me, however the man behind the bar insisted that it was only 1 oz. So I said to them that we no longer wanted the drinks if we weren't going to be served the proper amount for a single at $32. The guy behind the bar took the drinks back and said "thanks, don't come back". Now, we were not obviously intoxicated, belligerent, or obnoxious, we had spent some time in there and chatted with the female bartender who was very friendly and courteous during our visit. The problem I have is with the male bartender who was obviously in charge deliberately shorting a customer who is purchasing a $32 drink then him telling us to leave when I call him on his bullshit. This is very bad practice from a business perspective, and terrible customer service. So either this establishment has trained it's employees to short pour their drinks or this guy was just being a ignorant dick, either way, it's not right. At $32 per 1.5 oz drink the bar will make $512 on a $200 bottle. I know for a bar, that isn't an ideal margin compared to your average liquors, but it's still not bad, and you're catering to a higher end of customer who is obviously willing to spend money in your establishment so you should treat them as such. Point of the story: we were overcharged / underserved, and were treated rudely when we complained about it. read more

Nice outside patio! Our group of 4 ordered salads and shared various small plates. The lamb lollipops and calamari (lightly breaded & fried) were tasty. The chicken satay was on the dry side and the ahi tuna was ok. I had salmon added to my arugula salad with panko breaded poached egg. The salad was tasty but if they'd reduced the mayo-y dressing by 20% it would have been perfect. I was designated driver so I can't really comment on the drinks available, but they certainly had some interesting beers on tap. Will definitely return next time I'm in Williamsport. read more

This place was amazing!! My boyfriend and I don't go out to eat too often so when we do we try to eat at unique place with an eclectic menu. This place has it all great food, drinks, service and atmosphere. I had the Gouda and pimento dip with naan - absolutely amazing. My boyfriend had the rib eye - he said was perfect. The peanut butter martini was so delicious best dessert drink I ever had!!! We don't like to repeat restaurants but this place we will definitely return shortly. read more

Excellent food, great staff, terrific location. Walked to restaurant from our hotel. Reserved a table for 9 thru Yelp and received confirmation within an hour willing to accommodate us on a busy Saturday night. Food was great - Steak and Fries for the traditional folks with tender meat and nice spice to fries, plus really interesting twists on chicken for something a little different. Extensive drink menu too! Too chilly for outdoor dining tonight but hope to take advantage of that option next time. read more

Visited here over a year ago and it was delish, couldn't wait to go back. Tonight was a huge disappointment. The "Bees Knees" cocktail was pretty bad... just a bad blend of flavors. Ordered the bruschetta- the drizzle was amazing but the bread wasn't even toasted... or so it seemed. The special was a flat iron steak which my son and I ordered. He ordered "rare" and it was totally overcooked- even our waiter agreed Worse than that... the meat was so tough it was inedible. We all agreed to skip dessert deciding we'd fare better at Wegmans.
