I came again and tried the affogato! Usually I'm used to them served as an espresso drink with ice cream, but here it's served as ice cream with espresso poured on top, eaten with a spoon. The service was quick, and the outdoor seating was very nice. The dairy free drink options are very good for lactose intolerance, and it was altogether another good visit. read more

This is my first time back to the newly remodeled Barrel House coffee. It is so incredibly nice and spacious! I love how they added a room for meetings with a closing barn door for that purpose. There is a large and long merch wall with high-quality items for fans to support their favorite local coffee shop. The new order counter is massive and very Meticulously built out of whiskey barrels. It's really cool and a piece of art in its own right. There are tables indoors and out so you have your pick. I really, really like the remodel with the exception that they're still only one bathroom. I've been there several times before where there's a short line. Today, I tried the delicious coconut latte with non-barrel aged espresso. It was delicious! I've never had a bad coffee at the Barrel House. For frequent patrons, you can ask for a punchcard or purchase one of their Barrel House T-shirts and receive a discount when you wear it there. I love a good incentive! FYI: if you value privacy, let it be known that they record both visual and audio - there's a sign on the site but it's easy to miss. read more

Without fail you are waiting 10 minutes for a coffee on a slow day, on a busy day, be prepared to wait for upwards of 30 minutes. There's zero work efficiency, the employees are often chatting and moving slowly with little to no urgency or awareness for consideration of customers. There needs to be better training done or more staff hired because it kind of ruins the experience. read more

The ambience was cool, and the staff was very nice. I wasn't a huge fan of the barrel whiskey coffee, maybe it was that it just overpowered the flavor of the drink I got, I can't remember what it was called but it had white mocha and toasted marshmallow flavoring. I would be willing to try it again, but if you're not a big fan of whiskey or whiskey flavoring this might not be the place for you. However, I will definitely try it out again, it may have just been that I didn't get the right thing. read more

Love this place. Drove 30 minutes for a cup of coffee, hot chocolate, and coffee beans. Well worth the trip. Arrived a few minutes before they opened. By the time they opened the line was about 20 people long. Good selection of baked goods, but as the name implies, the highlight is the bourbon barrel aged coffee, both beans and drinks. 3.5 stars very trendy and fun environment, friendly staff, but would recommend not getting barrel aged if you're not a fan of bourbon. And if you don't know if you're a fan, you probably aren't. We didn't know if we liked bourbon but now know we don't. Update to owner - unfortunately we were driving through town so we didn't stay but would just suggest recommending baristas when they say "barrel aged or not" that if someone isn't familiar with barrel aged bourbon soaked coffee to say if you don't like it we can make it with our other beans. Everything I'm in Ball Ground, I make it a point to stop in here for coffee. The employees are always gracious and have a smile. They are so very patient with people who aren't familiar with their menu. What makes this coffee shop better than most is that they age the coffee in bourbon oak barrels. If you have never tasted this, we'll let's put this way....it's well worth the trip for this cup of coffee. It's a small shop now with a few tables to sit, but they have started construction to make larger and even more awesome. read more

I've been in here a couple times when visiting a friend in the area. The service is friendly, and the coffee is delicious. If you're not a fan of the barrel aged coffee they do have non barrel aged coffee as well. I haven't sat inside here other than to wait for my coffee, but the interior is clean and bright. This place is definitely one of the best coffees I've ever had! We made a stop here on our way from Jasper to Atlanta and we are so happy we did! The coffee flavor was so unique with their beans being aged on bourbon barrels, it was truly delicious on its own or in a handcrafted drink you could still taste the amazing flavors! We also tried one of their pastries and we loved it, White Chocolate Lavender scone, the aroma when you eat it lets you know how fresh and good it is, you can even see the lavender flower on the mix so its the real deal! The place looks so nice too, the decor with the barrels is all part of the concept! Lastly their staff/baristas were so friendly and helpful in helping us what to order and they were super nice to my son who wouldn't stop asking questions lol! This my go to coffee place and my husband and I have made it a frequent weekend ritual to come by here for coffee. Their barrel aged coffee is unmatched anywhere else and one of the best coffees I've ever had. However, if you're not feeling adventurous or it's not your favorite then you can always opt for their non barrel aged brew of the day. My top favorite latte is their Nutella Latte frozen, but I'm also a huge fan of trying whatever concoction they're featuring at any given time. Everyone there is very friendly and knowledgeable. Took a Sunday afternoon drive up to North Georgia to check out the Barrel House Coffee Company (BHCC) and so glad I did. I had to check out this process they have of putting their beans in freshly emptied Bourbon Barrels to absorb the gentle flavors of the bourbon. It has and amazing flavor, light medium or dark roast, all are exceptional. So I went with the medium roast and had them grind me up a large bag. As soon as they turned on the grinder the whole coffee shop filled up with this wonderful aroma. Just wow! Quite a bit of seating for a small coffee shop. High tops, tables and even a couch. And love all the decor, including the bourbon barrels themselves. I'm hooked! I can now take the short drive up there or better yet order on-line. The coffee is GREAT! Ask about their special process to naturally reduce the acidity in their coffee. Other things I appreciated about this coffeehouse: They actually have heavy whipping cream and they don't skimp on it when you ask for it. My coffee wasn't overly sweet (another big issue with most coffeehouses). Thankfully, they are expanding so I don't have to dock them a star: We had to figure out seating because they were so packed and it was too cold for outdoor seating. But there were signs up next door that they are broadening their horizons by procuring adjacent space. Definitely recommend! read more

Was in need of caffeine while passing by Ball Ground. Pulled up Yelp and this was the first coffee shop that popped up, also the best rated one. Parked in the back of the building. Easy, plenty and free! I ordered a caramel oat milk latte. The gentleman at the counter asked if I wanted their aged barrel coffee and I said sure. My son ordered a frozen vanilla latte (decaf). My latte was great! The aged barrel definitely gives it a unique, smokey flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed it. My son raved about his drink and was adamant I try it because it was apparently the best "frappuccino" he's ever had. I took one sip and agreed it was delicious. The masked staff was very friendly and helpful. Prices were reasonable. The space has plenty of indoor seating and some outdoor. They have cool barrel room, kinda separate from the main dining room. BHCC was not on my radar when I detoured through Ballground Ga. I wanted a Weiner Dog and Pretzel from Frankfurt Doner & Meats; however, they were closed. Disappointed and resigned to go home, I saw BHCC's sign "This way to Coffee...". Of course I'll follow for great coffee. I was feeling splurgest (my word). I ordered the Aged Barrell Frozen Caramel Macchiato and a warm Pumpkin Scone to go. No more pricier than Starbucks but Much better. BHCC's coffees are locally roasted with an added plus of small town hospitality. I missed out on my Weiner Dog but I have a "new find" and an excuse to return soon Th-Sat when I can visit both establishments for my entree, coffee and dessert!! Win Win!! read more
