The hubs and I always pass by here when we're in town visiting family. I'm soo glad we did, because this is a place I will frequent when hungry. It is located at the nearest green distillery in Shelbyville Tennessee. Upon entry we noticed how spacious and beautiful the decor was. Honestly, I'm hungry at this point, so let's get down to business. There was specials happening since it was memorial weekend a menu was titled honor day. The employees at the register were kind, efficient, and helpful answering any questions. Once the food was paid for a server would call your name, and bring it to your table. High turnover rate so food was fresh and fast. For appetizers, brisket nachos was ordered. I highly recommend this!!! Brisket was incredibly tender and flavorful. I could eat a pound of this! I had A plate of pulled chicken, toast, Cole slaw, and potato salad for sides. My in laws had the ribs and pulled pork plates. Cole slaw was creamy, crunchy and slightly sweet. At this point just make a sandwich with all the meats, and throw the potato salad, and coleslaw on top to devour. You will be doing a food dance!!! Pretty solid bbq connected to the distillery! Huge fan of the ribs, it fell off the bone and very nicely seasoned. Get the hot bbq sauce- it has a nice little kick and isn't terribly spicy. Yelp! Barrell House is connected to Uncle Nearest distillery. Bae, had to have a pork sandwich right after tour. Of course, they are sold out of chicken because they close in 5 mins, right after tour ended. Bae settled on a pork sandwich and chips with a drink. I got a cup of ice. It was 17.00 without a tip and we're not even eating inside. SMH. Not a terrible price, if the sandwich was any good. Pork was boiled and chewy, not a great representation of bbq. We will not waste our time or calories next time. I will say the front counter help is amazing! And, this is a really cute space. read more

Below average food and service with an attitude. After that introduction to Uncle Nearest we skipped the store and the tour. We both had the grilled cheese on crack, one with pulled chicken and the other with smoked sausage. The pulled chicken tasted like plain boiled chicken with little to no flavor. The smoked sausage was just OK, nothing special. Both were served on what looked like thin Wonder Bread. Texas toast would greatly improve this. Not sure there was actually any cheese in the "grilled cheese" sandwich since neither one of us tasted it or saw it. One bag of chips, two beers, $47 later we're heading for the exit. After a tour at Uncle Nearest Distillery, we needed a quick bite. The largest bar attached to farm stands was a little too noisy for us so we came to the Barrell House bar b q for sandwiches. The ladies got ribs for later. I ordered a shredded pork sandwich to eat there and a chicken to go but received chicken on both orders. They were both good but I can't comment on the pork as I was too hungry to send it back and wait. I liked the atmosphere and the counter operator and waitress were attentive. read more

This particular location is located at the Uncle Nearest Distillery. You can see it from the parking lot. That saying there is free parking to the restaurant. The staff was friendly and greeted us as soon as we entered the restaurant. There was no line. We reviewed the short but concise menu. It had all the main bbq items that you would expect to be available. We got the brisket sandwich with mac n cheese and loaded potato with pulled chicken. We heard another customer saying how good the brisket was. You seat yourself, and food is brought out to you. The restaurant was a stable repurposed into a restaurant. The stalls were turned into bench tables, which had sliding doors so you could close if wanted. Some of the prized horses from the farm were pictured throughout. I think it was great to honor the former owner and horses trained there. Our food came out in decent time and decently priced. Brisket was good. The mac n cheese was okay. The baked potato was covered in cheese but under heat too long. The chicken had good flavor but needed more. The food was okay. It was decent. I cannot speak highly enough about barrelhouse. I went there with a group of 15 after the Uncle Nearest Distillery tour while celebrating my mother's 70th birthday. Amanda, Rebeca, Ashley, and the whole staff went above and beyond to make sure that we were well taken care. Literally everyone in our party complimented on how good the food is. Pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, Mac and cheese, cornbread all of it delicious Definitely take the time to tour the surrounding grounds which are simply beautiful. I am not a major BBQ eater but we had a recommendation to get the Grilled Cheese on Crack (grilled cheese with meat of choice and cheese of choice) and those that did enjoyed it. I had the loaded baked potato with pulled pork which was good. My spouse had the ribs but they were a little burnt (and not the burn you hope for with ribs). The sides of green beans and baked beans were winners for those that got them. They were out of a few items so now that it is the only restaurant at the distillery they may need to better manage inventory but the servers were great, friendly and accommodating. I came to the distillery for my birthday since I was in Nashville and I'm so glad I did. I had been looking at this menu every week to see what I'd get and they did not disappoint. We could smell the aroma and flavors of the bbq from the hall way as we walked in. The inside space is not huge but there's also seating outside with amazing views of the grounds. They have booths with barnyard style doors attached to each section, I loved that. The lady who took our orders was so nice and everything she suggested was a hit. I don't eat greens at all but when she said she helped with them I had to give it a try. The minute she let me sample the mac and cheese, I was sold. I had the brisket grilled cheese on crack. The moist brisket was so juicy I couldn't even finish it all. The star was the half pound of sausage. Stopped in for a tasting at Uncle Nearest so we were hungry and this place was on site. We ordered the grilled cheese on crack with brisket and it's definitely well deserved of its name. It was delicious, tender brisket, and the Texas toast is perfect for it. We also ordered the 2 meat plate with sausage and ribs, along with Mac n cheese and greens. The ribs were tender not Smokey but good flavor. The sausage was great, cooked perfectly and tender. The Mac n cheese was not that good, needed seasoning and more cheese. Great service was a positive! I places a to go order while we had brunch next door. The prices are amazing, but their online menu had brisket and they didn't have that on their restaurant menu, bummer. The girl who rang me up, Dawnasia, was very polite! Toya was also a gem as I requested an inside piece of cornbread and she got it perfect! The downside is the green beans were nasty and I believe vinegar? How ypu mess up canned green beans is crazy lol! The baked beans had a chili flavor... not horrible, but not what I was expecting. I came on the wrong day for Mac and cheese too lol as it wasn't baked with cheese, just a stove top version for whatever reason. Toya gave me a sample and it was still very good and creamy! Since I couldn't get brisket, I got pulled pork. It was solid with the sauce but I could have used more smoke flavor and a tad more seasoning. Would I get more to go food while next door, absolutely but I would not get sides or only Mac and cheese. Oh, the peach cobbler bread pudding concoction was DELICIOUS! Simple and Delicious! This restaurant was simple, very clean and very good. It has a simple menu but packed with great quality food and great flavor. The brisket was cooked to perfection and the sauces took it over the top. Again, like all things at the Nearest Green Distillery, the food was reasonably priced. The meal portions were generous and the staff were friendly and helpful. Our sandwiches were so good!!! BUT THAT BREAD PUDDING was a WHOLE VIBE. It was heavenly. It was warm, savory and satisfied all of my taste buds. WHOMEVER made that bread pudding, I would like to marry. Bread pudding never looks appealing but I never expected this bread pudding to warm my soul the way that it did!!! And I have had a lot of different variations of bread pudding. Had no clue what we were walking in to. Went based on reviews and pulled up to heat looked like a country club. My wife was worried we were underdressed but it was fine. Food was really good. Definitely not cheap (I might even say overpriced), but it tasted delicious. Only complaint (other than being too expensive) was their setup for ordering. Very inefficient and took forever. Having the person taking payment fill drinks is just a waste of time. Probably should have two registers too for when there are larger parties.we went at 2pm or so and I waited in line for about 20 minutes (only had 8-10 people in front of me). Huge disappointment. First clue should had been no smoke or smell of any meat charring from the slow cook of smoked meat. Brisket was so dry could had been shoe leather. The loaded baked potato was petrified from being nuked in microwave with cheese dry grisly brisket.Cornbread dry no butter given and tasted like sat in fridge uncovered.
