Not much of a food menu but... the BAVARIAN PRETZEL I had was great and though I couldn't go for a heavy lunch, they had tickets (you could maybe buy from the bar?) for a Mexican buffet outside. Okay, maybe next time!? I'm not sure how you know about when something like that is there. The inside is a nice size and the outside is as well. A great place for live entertainment that was just setting up when I was there. Service was amazing and so was the beer. Checking out the Ybor brewery scene, we stopped into BarrieHaus Beer Co. after hearing they put out some great German-style beers. I grabbed a Big Pluckin' Pils, a German pilsner that had a nice hop bite with a bit of bitterness, but still light and super refreshing, perfect for a warm afternoon. It paired really well with some Cajun boiled peanuts. This was towards the end of our brewery run, so we kept it to just one, but it definitely left a good impression. Continuing our self‑directed food tour of Ybor, we stepped off the 7th Avenue main drag and made our way to BarrieHaus. It sits just far enough from the heart of Ybor that the Cuban influence fades, and that's perfectly fine because this place leans fully into being a beer bar with food that matches the mood. I went straight for their Number 1, the Big Pluckin' Pils. If we had stayed for a second round, the Bublina, billed as the Best Czech Pilsner in the World, would have been next. Their board covers a wide range, from lagers and IPAs to Hefeweizen, porters and other malt‑forward brews, so it's easy to find something that fits your taste. With German‑style beer, a Bavarian pretzel feels required, and ours arrived piping hot from the oven with two mustards. The honey mustard was excellent, but the spicy mustard was the one that cleared sinuses. Pain, but the good kind, and absolutely delicious. BarrieHaus is a friendly, easygoing beer bar and we had a great stop here. My only disappointment was discovering that the adorable stuffed pretzel decorations aren't for sale. While doing some brewery research on Tampa, I came across some information about Barriehaus. While seeing a friends play nearby, I finally got the chance to try it. And OMG, is this good. I will say before raving that this is not a brewery for everyone. There are no fruited sours, hazy IPAs, or Pastry Stouts in the mix. This is lager country, so you will find beer flavored beer here. But man is it good. After finding this spot, I took my Nashville drinking buddy here and he raved it was the best Pils he ever had in his life. Justin, from Roundtrip in Atlanta, asked where to go in Tampa. I told him Barriehaus. After the experience, he said he is considering moving to Tampa just for this brewery. If you like the lager styles, this is your spot. If you go, there is free parking right next to the train tracks across the street. This has been on our list. Try for a couple of months now and we found ourselves back in the Tampa area which provided the perfect opportunity to check it out. We arrived around 4 o'clock on a Friday afternoon and the location was fairly steady with what clearly were regulars. we were able to find a hightop table near the back inside as it was rather hot outside. There is no table service so you walk up to the bar to order your beer and they had a good selection to choose from. My husband got the Kling (light and crisp) and he really enjoyed it! I opted for a flight with the "here's your f***ing hefe" (Hefenweisen), tampa tubesday, zitrone, and their 4th anniversary barrel aged port beer. I loved all of them!! Be careful with that barrel aged - 11.4% abv! :) The bartending staff was quick and friendly. Love the atmosphere here and the beer! The outdoor patio is big and they have a good selection of beers. Lots of beers that you can grab to-go and they have some board games. Beer was very tasty, and the brewery was packed on a Sunday afternoon. Children were having fun petting the baby goats, and the adults were enjoying the German music and their beverages. It was necessary to stand in line at the bar to buy your beer, but the line moved relatively quickly. It was a one and done afternoon. They do have a tiny offsite parking lot that we were able to get a spot after numerous drive throughs. read more

Went here recently on our Pub Pass. What a great little German style pub/ brewery. Our server was very knowledgeable about the beer she was serving and quickly had us enjoying some great beer. Of the 9 breweries we visited in the Tampa area, we saved the best for last. As the name would suggest, definitely has a traditional, German beer hall type vibe which I LOVE. The tap list consisted of slow pours, pilsners, kolschs, dunkels, etc. YES PLEASE! We came on a slow Monday evening and had a great time chatting with the staff. The beers were fantastic and we were bummed that we wouldn't be back for all of their 12 Days of Beermas releases. Easily my favorite brewery during my visit to Tampa, and handily my favorite brewery in the state. The focus here is on cold-fermented lagers (as opposed to warm-fermented ales), which isn't every common for a craft brewery. Even fewer of those are doing unique, dare I say "crafty" takes on lagers. Most tend to brew stuffy European styles of lager in traditional ways, without trying to do anything new or unique. I had flight of 4 beers, and all 3 were incredible. My favorite was just the regular 'ol Cold IPA (rather than the two double Cold IPAs), I'm not sure what hops it was brewed with, but the nose on it was incredible! If you're not into cutting-edge lagers, they do have old world favorites like helles and pilsner, and they are also done incredibly well! The BarrieHaus caught my eye because it's a brewery specific to the best beer makers in the world, Germany. This spot offers a cool, relaxed environment with good beer. My fiancé and I were spending the evening in Ybor with dinner and then checking out a few spots for drinks. I had been wanting to go here since I heard about them but Covid threw wrenches in everyone's plans. One thing of note is that this brewery is off the beaten path of Ybor. Walking down dark 5th Avenue, the twinkling of the outside biergarten lights draw you in. We walked into the tap room and looked over the menu. The guy behind the bar was friendly and greeted us. I chose the German Pilsner and my fiancé went with a Radler. The drinks were top notch. The pilsner was crisp and went down easy. The Radler my fiancé got was good as well. The half-beer, half-lemonade was sweet and refreshing. They had food available here as well but we didn't try it on this visit. Before we left, we walked around a little inside to check things out. They have a little viewing area where you can see the brewing tank which is pretty cool. They also have some pictures up showing their history and progress through the years. Great little off-the-beaten-path brewery in Ybor. I only discovered it because a food truck I've been stalking had a planned appearance here. I parked on the street next to the place, but it would be an easy walk from the nearby parking garage. They open at noon on Sundays, so while I waited for my food to be ready, I went inside. They've removed some tables inside, so it is easy to social distance. I sat at the bar and had a drink. I'm not a huge beer fan, and they didn't carry any ciders, but they did have a Radler option, which is a combo of beer and lemonade, and I really enjoyed it. I love that they make their own lemonade. The place is clean and bright, with friendly service, and I think it would be a great spot to hang out with friends. Plus, with three televisions and Lightning paraphernalia on the walls, this probably would be a great spot to catch a hockey game. read more

After months of mandated shut down, to survive and thrive, they have added light bites to the game and are open again!! Which are actually delicious too btw. The beer is tremendously, brilliantly, spectacularly good. Anyone who is a lager drinker will appreciate the nuances of the beer at Barriehaus. The atmosphere is easygoing and inviting. A great place to check out if you're in Ybor! We have been there a few times when visiting some friends. They have a great beer selection and the huge pretzel is a must have!! While I was at another brewery and visiting the Ybor City area, I found this brewery. It was off the beaten path. I decided to take a gander and noticed that the area was a bit shady and continue to walk, and happy I found this brewery. I arrived and the place was lit up on a Monday. Which is rare from Pittsburgh, PA area where no breweries are open on Monday. I arrived and reviewed the different beers that they had available. I tried 4 different beers and damn, they were all very good beers, but my favorite was the smoked bock, omg it was so damn good. Evan was the one person working and he told me a bit of brief history of the brewery. I ask all breweries as I like to learn the history. He mentioned that this brewery was unique as the owners were from Detroit, and he stated that he had a great great great grandfather who was a brewer in the 18th century, so he didn't know that it was in his roots at first. The owner was a home brewer for years. I've been to 6 breweries in Tampa area and this one is my favorite that I've visited. All the beers were great. Evan was absolutely awesome.. The atmosphere, beer and everything was right on. I'll be traveling in the area again from Pittsburgh, PA in a week with my family, and I want them to stop and try this place out, it absolutely rocks. Best brewery in Tampa, hands down. read more

I heard lots of good things when I asked around about breweries in Tampa, and I heard countless compliments of BarrieHaus. All of those compliments lived up to the hype! The inside was very nice and had great vibes, but the outside really shines for sure! There is great outdoor seating, especially on a nice sunny Saturday during the day! There is an expansive list of beers on tap, you can find pretty much any option that suits your palate. It was a great vibe and the host was fantastic. Friendly staff and service. They have many different beer styles here. I had the Here's your F*!$ing Hazy: a hazy IPA which was true to the style and very tasty. My friend had the Family Tradition: Vienna lager which was also true to the style. This place rocks! I was in town in October for a weekend-long event, and BarrieHaus hosted the afterparty each night. I'm so glad it was our nightly base because it was fantastic. I'm not a huge beer drinker, but there were a ton of options for me--some on tap--including wine and cider. The staff is clearly very passionate about beer because they would have long conversations with everyone about brewing and taste profiles and their preferences. They also have fantastic food. They had cubanos and wings and massive soft pretzels (with the best mustard sauce) for us. BarrieHaus also has a great covered patio with plenty of tables and music and games. WE LOVE BARRIEHAUS! One of our monthly highlights is stopping in for the Loko Cuisine Pop-up brunch on the third Sunday of every month. Between the two of us, we have tasted most of the beers and they are delicious! I tried the Hefeweizen tonight for the first time and loved it. My friend who I met up with enjoyed the Tampa Export. Tonight I had the pleasure of tasting their food options, their Cuban and Pretzel. The pretzel was so HUGE that we were able to split it between the four of us. The Cuban had a different flavor to it, and I enjoyed its originality. BH is smart to keep it simple and only offer two items. Junbae, can we maybe get pizza as a future option? The owners and staff, I can't say enough about. Jim, Junbae, Brittany are ALWAYS so friendly. Evan ALWAYS puts a smile on my face and has such a great vibe about him. Kate and the rest of the staff are ALWAYS such a pleasure to deal with. There is outside patio seating for patrons and their furry friends. I also love that Barriehaus is located away from 7th Avenue so there is always ample parking when we visit. I highly recommend Barriehaus. Stopped by and grabbed a 4 pack of the Endless zest. The ambiance is pretty cool I would compare it to a study meets an industrial warehouse with enough TVs to be considered a sports bar. Not to offend but one may compare it to a more tasty and hoppy Bud Light Orange. You can definitely taste the citrus but not overwhelmingly acidic. Will come back for the Hefe. read more

I don't drink as many Hefeweizens as my hubs, but theirs really hit the spot after I tried my hubs. The Hefeweizen is the right amount of sweetness with the perfect amount of fruity aromas, so it's not bitter and so easy to go down - LOVED it! I prefer a Stout or Porter and they have a limited selection - only one. It's OK because Lagers are their specialty and my fav. is prob. their Tampa Export. They even have a drink called "Radler" - beer mixed with homemade Lemonade - a great combo that my friend enjoyed previously as well as Slow Pour beers with a foam top - very unique offerings! They just got astroturf in their Biergarden and it adds a pop of greenery. Parking still isn't an issue even though this place is located in a lesser known area of Ybor. Shoutout to Evan for serving my hubs and I. Also, to Junbae for helping to make sure we were signed you properly to get our vaccine at a popup event they hosted. Sometimes you walk into a new place and immediately feel good vibes. This is one of those places! Beautiful and clean inside with lots of charm and the brewery equipment also visible (and so clean). The menu is easy to navigate on the massive tap wall, they will also give samples of anything if you have a question as to strength, taste or specific notes. You can go wrong with the Tampa Export or the Dunkel! Beer fans delight, Barriehaus specializes in lagers and have really taken their time to perfect them. Let me start by saying that I have been to a LOT of breweries (both domestic and international), and the beer here at Barriehaus is some of the best I've had. I only got to try a few, but both the Radler and the Family Tradition Vienna Lager were incredible. Also, this location is so unique in that they can do slow pours and let you compare them to a normal pour (less bubbles, more flavor).
