I visited Hidden Springs in a Sunday for a dumplings cooking class with Cocu Social. Me and a friend took this cooking class that is periodically offered as an event at Hidden Springs. There were approximately 16 people in the 2 hour class. We made 12 dumplings each using three folding techniques. The demonstration was good and the dumplings were even better. The chef who taught the class is a full time Mazzaro's chef. We were able to grab drinks from the bar before the class. read more

This place was AMAZING! There is parking right out front of the restaurant that is cheap. The actually bar inside is so spacious and there are so many seating options. There is a wide variety of beers and when you come in, they offer tasting glasses so you can try flavors before you settle on buying a full glass. The man working there www very helpful with getting us sips to try! The beer is exceptional, especially the sours which is what we went for. We got the Never Nude sour since we love Arrested Development and even got some cans of it to bring home. Always new recipes and beer styles to explore and brew master's versions of beer types that are ones I frequently enjoy. I just had one beer from Hidden Springs and was it a good one! The Devil was the name of the one we had. Described as a cheesecake type of beer I became a little concerned on how rich it may be but it went down just fine! Dominant flavor features with this beer was cinnamon, clove, vanilla, pumpkin and yes... very likely cheesecake. I love Hidden Springs. It's a little gem in Tampa Heights with some of the friendliest beertenders around. The space is small, but the beers are BIG. I've yet to be disappointed by a beer, because the staff give excellent recommendations. The special drops are always fun and typically themed around something very timely. I can't say I have a favorite (outside of the Strangers Things sour!), but I'm grateful that so many local places keep their beers stocked so I can grab them when I can't go to the actual brewery. read more

This is one of my favorite breweries because they are heavy on the sours and they are also delicious. It is too bad (for me) that they are in Tampa because I don't get over there too often and when I do it always seems to be early in the day. But when in Tampa in late afternoon or evening, it is a must stop. The location has street parking but there are some parking lots close by that you can pay to park in as well. Around the outside are a ton of mural art work pieces, making it worth a walk up and down the area. Inside is smaller but does have large tables for groups and couches to relax on. They are dog friendly too and even have an instrgram for them. LOL. I will have to bring my girls in with me sometime. They are always down for a ride. The sours are solid for sure and we always get a flight so that we can try all the ones we haven't had. They do rotate them fairly often so there is generally always enough for a flight for us. One thing I LOVE about Hidden Springs is that they sell their cans in 4 packs and singles. The singles are important because they often have different beers in there that are no longer on tap but are ones that we missed. There is nothing worse than buying a 4 pack of beer and then opening the first one to only hate it. So we will buy a single to try first. All of their cans are 16oz so $5 for a single is cheap or just as cheap as having the beer at the brewery. Though from the tap is always best. Everyone we have encountered here has always been super friendly and helpful with any questions we've had. We will returned, repeatedly! read more

They have a great large tasting room downtown Tampa, with a long bar area as well. I love the decor. Beautiful local art work on the walls. The bartender Tim greeted us with a taster of a few of their brews with it being our first time, let us test a few we were curious about and gave us a rundown of their lineup. A good brewery to check out that is on the outskirts of Armature Works complex and a 20 minute walk or so from Ybor. Since it's located a little distance away from these busy areas, it's more low key and relaxing. The inside is clean and modern with some good beer to choose from. Their menu focuses on sours and lagers with some that can be really sweet, but tasty such as the Tigers Blood or Electric Pegasus. The 'Above My Paygrade' is a good easy to drink beer too. read more

To say that I liked everything about Hidden Springs Ale Works would be an understatement. I loved everything about it.  So, there are some restaurants where the food takes you on a fantastic journey of tastes and flavor.  This brewery is that equivalent for beer.  And oh, what a fantastic journey it was. It is a smaller venue, but what they lack in space, they make up for in ambiance and the fantastic and superbly delicious beer.  It's not the size but the motion of the Ocean.  This was the motion that took my tastebuds to a level I wasn't sure beer could take me to.  And honestly, my life was enriched from this experience. The BEER: Lil Sebastian ddh pineapple IPA 6.5% ABV... a very good and mellow IPA... FIRE really delicious Moon Flower chocolate hazelnut black currant sour 5.5% ABV  great Never Nude neapolitan ice cream sour 5.5% ABV for me there was a little too much going on.  Still decent. Sexual Manatee passion fruit BlackBerry sour 5.5% ABV  great It's a Kolsch Shut Up 4.2% ABV it's a Kolsch, decent Sassy Pants ddh IPA 8% ABV FIRE also really delicious Ninja Dust ddh double IPA 8.5% ABV great  ZFG O IBU pale ale 5.4% ABV  I really liked this, it was almost juicy ... really great Karma Shenanigans... ddh IPA 6% ABV... really delicious and almost juicy, quite good White Oak ZFG... 6% ABV...A WINNER!!! subtle and very good, not like any pale ale I've ever tasted.  I could start a lasting relationship with her. Apple of my Eye... apple pie sour ale 5.5% ABV... Apple pie is real, D-LISH-US... OMG wow, a party in my mouth Cracktus...prickly pear passionfruit sour ale ... it was ok I like that the IPAs and pale ales I tried were toned down on the hops.  It made for a very pleasant drinking experience. The music was old skool hip hop and r&b on that Saturday and on Sunday a more mellow vibe, but just as great. Service was spot on and they stayed in the weeds both times I was there. If you want to have a culinary beer experience, stop by Hidden Springs, I promise you won't be disappointed. A sour lover's dream!! (aka me!) Small brewery specializing in sours. Today they had 10 sours on draft. They also have some hop forward brews and a couple of lagers. I got a flight and opted for Diablo, Fanny Pack, Paygrade (vienna style lager), and Tradewinds. Stand outs by far were the Tradewinds and the Fanny Pack. Excellent sours. So different. I didn't care as much for the lager but it could be that my palate was destroyed after having all the sours lol. El Diablo was good but I would have liked more of the Blackcurrant flavor to come through. Brewery is clean, and there is space to social distance. Always a plus in my book! read more

If we lived in Tampa, we would be here every day. Hidden Springs is our new favorite bonus find while visiting family in town. We did not have a beer / sour that we did not thoroughly enjoy - and our amazingly friendly and perfectly attentive beertender Megan made our first experience perfect. We also befriended a lovely gal / regular named Wendy as we bellied up to the bar - and spent wayyyyy more time than we had intended due to having such a great time. My husband does NOT like sours - and he loved every single one we tried here. The combos of flavors are simply amazing, so do yourself a favor and get a flight or two...or in our case, like 4. The only style we did not sample was the IPAs, but I bet they're great, too. Having so many choices on tap was like an adult beer themed Disneyland for us. We ended up getting some sweet merch to take home and will be looking for a way to get their offerings closer to home in Indiana ASAP (Tavour, perhaps?). This review is admittedly three months belated; I visited with a group during Tampa Bay Beer Week in March. Each time I've recalled that I need to share my thoughts it's because I've gone to check in a Virginia beer on Untappd and noted that Hidden Springs collaborated on the brew. It seems to be a pretty common occurence, especially if lactose is involved. Actually, if there's one word I'd use to describe Hidden Springs beers, it'd be "creamy." I've tried many of their recent releases, and they've all had that same lactose finish. Sometimes that's nice; sometimes it's too much for me. Personally I prefer to find their stuff out in the wild. They were pretty unorganized during beer week, and I'd even say unwelcoming. I totally understand that it was probably their busiest time of the entire year. I do. But they treated certain members of my group nicer than others. One was allowed to receive a flight; the rest of us got plastic cups and no ability to sample anything before purchasing. And the staff just kind of shrugged us off. Like I said, I understand they were busy...I just think there was a kinder way they could've handled us, being that we were there because we liked their beers and wanted to give them our money. A brewery is nothing without customers. I'll continue to try their stuff out when I see it locally in Virginia, but I'd probably only make a return visit if it wasn't beer week. Unfortunately I don't really have a reason to be in Tampa if it's not for Huna Day, sooo I'm at a loss on if I'll ever actually return. We checked out Hidden Springs before going to a show in Tampa. It was a Wednesday and still early, so it wasn't crowded at all. The bartender was friendly and let us take a few minutes to decide what we wanted. I started with the Kitchen Witch. It was definitely more sour than what I was expecting but still tasty. Next up, I tried the Deja Moo Milk Stout and it was delicious. It smelled like coffee and didn't taste too heavy. I loved it. I loved all of the artwork on the walls. It's a really cool space. Originally, when I was planning to do a brewery tour of St. Petersburg, any of the Tampa breweries were not in the cards. That changed when I discovered that Angry Chair Brewing was doing a bottle release on Labor Day Weekend (the weekend my friends and I were going to be there), as well as Hidden Springs Ale Works. Being that I wasn't able to visit Hidden Springs when I went to Tampa last year, I decided to incorporate additional stops of the two breweries. I was especially glad I made time to check out Hidden Springs and their Mega Drop event. Since opening three years ago, they have made a hell of a name for themselves with producing craft beer -- and they are stellar ones indeed. Situated in the Tampa Heights neighborhood -- an area that's been rehabilitated thanks to Hidden Springs, Ulele, Garagiste, and a bunch of other eateries and establishments in the past few years, the area is a must-stop when visiting. More importantly, Hidden Springs produces bonafide rock stars with their brews, as I discovered at their Mega Drop event. Parking is fairly easy -- and being that we had tons of people waiting in line for the Mega Drop to start, we were able to find a spot with ease a couple of blocks away without paying a fee. The area is easy and comfortable to walk to reach the brewery, that's for sure. You can tell where Hidden Springs is located thanks to their giant-ass logo that's painted on one side of their building above their entrance. Being that this was the Mega Drop event, we waited with what seemed like infinite patience to reach the front of the line located within the actual production facility of the brewery around the corner from the entrance. I think it was close to 45 minutes before we gradually made our way inside to the table to make our purchases. Releasing four types of 4-pack cans as well as a bottle of their Maple Black Aggie (which sold out before we made it to the front), I voraciously purchased one of each -- and was joyous and felt victorious... partly because I had been waiting. Their production facility was fairly sizable in retrospect. I think they have at least a 12-barrel system but I could be wrong (it's a bit of blur since I was all hyped up on buying my cans). Once I dropped off my purchases, I finally was able to have a flight (or two) from the taproom. Upon entering, you're surrounded by a ton of different high-top pub tables to the left and right -- some communal and others more limited in seating capacity, while a bar counter appears towards the back. Like most of the breweries I've patronized, the look has a hint of industrial -- Edison bulbs hang over the metal bartop if that's any indication. With seemed close to 20 beers on tap, I went ahead and ordered two flights while I was there. Flights come in pours of four, so you get a nice mix of what Hidden Springs has to offer. Out of the eight I had there, five were tops with two in particular being fucking magical. The Nitro Steve Orange Creamsicle had gorgeous nodes of orange with a hint of vanilla; and due to being a nitro pour, had a nice creaminess for sure. Their Bearski Berliner Weisse was bloody yummy. Rich, with nice sourness, I tasted passion fruit and papaya, which made for a fantastic pour. Their Pilsner absolutely impressed me. Rich, surprising sour nodes, where it tastes like pineapple and coconut, which I didn't expect from a pilsner -- some beer purists may argue that may be a sign of something else, but I think it was the brewery's intention. Because sizzle me some bacon, this pilsner was crisp and deeply satisfying. The real unicorns of the bunch were Deja Moo Nitro Milk Stout and the Fat Guy In a Little Coat Berliner Weisse. Magical with a CAPITAL "M". We're talking unicorns trotting and galloping endlessly on rainbows. The Fat Guy had an amazing smoothness, with a blend of coconut and vanilla, which made the raspberry nodes surprisingly sweeter and not tart. Very magical. The nitro pour for the Deja Moo Milk Stout was so bloody creamy, I can't even begin to tell you. So succinct with the right amount of sweetness of cocoa with a hint of spice from the chipolte, which allows to linger so perfectly on the palate. Incredibly magical. While I enjoyed the Deja Moo regular pour as well, the nitro was just so much better to where I felt the goodness, I felt the craftsmanship, I felt the majesty and alchemy of a superior beer being bursting in my face. This is next tier magic erupting from volcanoes and shit. Incredible beer, hip area, fun times, awesome vibes, with a growing reputation as one of the premier breweries in Tampa-St. Petersburg, Hidden Springs has become to Tampa Heights that Angry Chair is to Seminole Heights: a sought-after, kick ass watering hole that will knock your socks off. read more
