People pay so much money and taxes to live in this area and the parks are tiny and dumpy. Soooo dirty, unkempt and smelly. If I lived at one of these luxury buildings nearby and such I think I'd contact the city and see where all the local taxes are going? There's pot holes in the unkept roads and nasty parks... why? Sure as heck not these typical tiny nasty parks. This area is designed for cars to race around not for humans and animals to peacefully exist in nature. In real life, this park is smellier and dirtier. I see why people move to Santa Clarita or even Valley get away from this area and get peaceful, clean parks. This area cares more about shiny BMWs and landrovers parking lots then actual clean areas to walk it seems. This place doesn't seem fit for humans and dogs. Cats maybe. Cats will turn the world into their scratching post. Maybe all the car fumes are interfering with their brains. You all can do better. We all can. Sometimes this is good. But just as some of the reviews from a few years back suggest, the dog walkers completely monopolize this park. I wonder why the city allows them to do this - are they paying for permits or something? Because they monopolize the entrance, often letting their dogs run off leash from the car, shuffling groups of four and five dogs at at a time, it's ridiculous. I actually had one dog walker try to chastise my dog who was clearly playing with one of "her" dogs (that she's supposed to be supervising, but clearly isn't because she HAD 12 dogs!). Because she was at the other side of the park she didn't see them playing, then screams at my dog very aggressively when she saw him running toward her dog. Any dog person could see they were playing. Bottom line, why are you bringing a clients dog into a dog park that doesn't separate small and large dogs? The dog walkers have ruined this place honestly. It's no wonder most people are taking their dogs in the larger baseball field off leash. read more

The dog park was great. There was plenty of parking. Mostly dirt, but more than enough space for my Frenchie to run around. I didn't catch the small dog park. Anyway, there was an incident with dog getting a minor leg injury. The pup and owner were justifiably shaken. Everything was fine and then the next moment, you see a herd of larger dogs chasing this one poodle up and down one of the fences multiple times. BIGGEST PROBLEM was that one of the dog walkers had so many dogs, the chasing happened while she was loading her van with a bunch, had another bunch fenced in the entrance and the rest left unattended. The poor dog with the Knick and owner were trapped inside and had to wait. Can there be any simple community rules enforced? If not, just avoid closer to noon. Seems like that's when the dog walkers typically get together. read more

It's got everything a dog could ask for! I'm from out of town and was looking for a place to take my pug. First time I came here, there was every kind of dog you could imagine - all sorts of sizes and breeds! It was dog heaven! I've learned if you go around 12:30pm, that's when all the dog walkers come with their "packs" and they have about 8-10 dogs each. I personally find it exciting and my dog will get along with any dog, very social and loves to play but will also go off and do his own thing. I will say there's no segregation between small and large dogs, so if you're concerned about that then maybe not the best place to go, but we had a great time! There's plenty of water bowls for the dogs too to drink from and leftover tennis balls. The owners I've interacted with are friendly as well. My go to spot now to let my fur baby blow off some energy!! read more

Taylor L. pretty much sums it all up. Although back when my boyfriend's Dobermann was alive and we would take her here, there was much more grass for the doggies. It seemed like a great spot for puppies to get their exercise. There were separate areas for the small dogs and another area for the bigger ones. And although Lexi (my boyfriend's Dobermann) was considered a large dog, she was extremely bashful and timid, some dogs here seem to become "pack-like" and it can really give one pause. The way I see it, at least there is this space for dogs to go play and get some exercise. There are plenty of water spigots and a double gate entrance in which to bring your puppy. It's more of an dog owner/dog walker issue. I would suggest coming here when it's not too crowded because I have seen plenty of dog fights here where dogs in a pack will behave differently than having your one animal at home. Owners and dog walkers need to be more mindful because some of us are not comfortable bringing our pets here if there's that danger of our own dogs being bullied or possibly attacked. The dog walkers had 60+ dogs to 1. I'm sick of it. They can't control the dogs that poo everywhere & our dog was attacked as soon as we walked in. Physically attacked. The walkers are lazy, rude, business people and one even left 15 of the dogs in the van on a hot day while she took the other 15 inside the park The owners of these dogs are going to be sorry the day a dog is attacked & they're sued. Pretty good park. There is just one big space, it isn't seperated into small or large dog area but it's large enough that the dogs spread out a little so it doesn't seem to be an issue. (There used to be a small dog section but its under construction.) I went on Tuesday at 5pm and it was pretty calm. No more than about 10 dogs at any given time. There are a few trees which offer some shade and there's a watering point. Plenty of trash cans and scoopers. Only thing I would want is more grass. Its mostly just dirt, wood chips, and a paved surface. People here seem polite, dogs are doggy. UPDATE: I've been back a few times and it looks like this is a popular park for dog walkers which kind of stinks. One person trying to watch 5 or more dogs at a time results in no dogs actually being monitored. Its not a huge deal if all the dogs are chill, but one aggressive dog unwatched can be very irritating. Between 3-4pm on a weekday is when I experienced this. After 4pm it seems to be walker-free. Echoing other negative reviews...my 11 month old (playful but submissive) lab was so excited to play with all the dogs! As soon as we entered, a pack of over 30 dogs (with two dog walkers) swarmed her, she went into submissive posture but about a dozen of these unsupervised dogs wouldn't relent. One of the dog walkers called for them to stop, no result. She was freaked out, I finally was able to get her leash on and spirit her away. My dog has terrible anxiety to the point she won't even use the bathroom at our apartment without peeing on her tail or going at all. (She doesn't like walks either because of the traffic) Of course I then went on a quest for the perfect dog park and we eventually found this one. She really comes out of her shell here and LOVES it. We would go every morning at 7AM before all the dog walkers got there and she really enjoyed herself. Unfortunately they now charge for parking. $1.75 for 15 minutes. It doesn't sound like a lot but for one hour that's $7 per day, $49 a week & $2,548 a year.. for my dog to use the bathroom. I don't think so. They are so slow with giving you the ticket and calculating how long you've been there when you leave. I waited in line once to exit, finally gave them our ticket, he said we were there for 16 minutes and charged us for the two 15 minutes!!!! It wasn't our fault we were ONE minute over & even it was, that makes zero sense to charge at full. This park smells like pee. Just walking up to it from the parking lot, I got a nice, big whiff of urine. Okay, okay, I know. It's a dog park, for Pet's sake. But I've been to many parks, and not all of them have been so pungent. There were a lot of fights the day I came here. Dogs were disgruntled left and right. There was an area with disgusting and stagnant water, over which was thrown a white, plastic chair. The dogs totally disregarded this and went for the water anyway. This is a serious health hazard. The dogs on the small section were freaking out. They were running along the fence yapping their little hearts out. And the owners were doing nothing about it. One even blamed the large dog owners of instigating the small ones, which was lame and incorrect. One even brought her lame, little, yapping dog to the big size, on a leash, so that he would "get over it." Well, he didn't get over it, and I seriously lost some hearing in my left ear. I'm not kidding. Freaking wanted to kick the little sh!t across the enclosure. Also, there was some random guy with an accent and speech impediment who was trying to push his dog training services on people. Except, his dog was completely untrained and was one of the ones starting fights with everyone else!! Wtf!! This guy was talking to everyone. He even left the enclosure to chat up people outside and in the small dog section, and this is while his dog was roaming around the big side starting fights! AND, there was another old man on some bench, reading, while his dog was crapping all over the place. I actually went up to him and told him his dog had just taken a dump, and he ignored me as if he couldn't even hear me. OMG! He never picked any of it up! read more

The off-leash dog park offers two sections; a small-dog section (under 30 lbs.) and a large dog section. The small dog section faces the parking lot and is completely fenced in on all sides. The double gates lead to the large dog section where an acre and a half of open land space atop a small canyon awaits. The view is quite impressive and the doggies run free and play ball in the center of this oasis. You can bring even bring a chair and relax. My poochie and I give this local gem five paws up . Be prepared to see those "almost-real" teacup dogs dressed to the nines with rhinestone leashes and painted toes in the small dog section; although some of the larger dogs are subjected to this star-like behavior as well. You will definitely spot spiked collars, bling, bling and any other sort of over-the- top K-9 attire that will have you muttering under your breath "only in L.A." Although on any given day you may bump into a celebrity who may bring their dogs here for a run, the environment is surprisingly peaceful and friendly. Most dog owners have figured out that it's way more fun if they talk to each other while their pooches play to their little star-gazed content. The atmosphere is very low key, so you are apt to feel comfortable. By donation of "Friends of Barrington Dog Park" a large covered canopy (shaded) area is installed in the large dog section. The park is well funded (there is a convenient fire hydrant at the exit for you to deposit your spare change) and well maintained by the Friends of Barrington Dog Park. There are several pooper scooper stations that supply shovels and bags to pick up your dogs' business. And there is no shortage of water, there are even some built-in bowls. Parking is plentiful (except when there are several sports teams playing) and it is free. On the downside, there are no public bathrooms (although I have recently seen a few port-a-potties. This park is also popular with dog walkers (who mostly come during the middle of the day) and I have witnessed some walkers with 8-10 dogs which may be intimidating for some. I'll give this place a 3.5 stars. We came here with our puppy because we had a doggy play date with someone who lived in Westwood. We came here on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't crowded at all. To start off, the address on Yelp is incorrect! It's actually a bit further north and to the right. And dog park itself is divided into a small dog area, which is EXTREMELY small, and a big dog area, which is EXTREMELY big. We had a 6 month old corgi and we just took her to the big dog area so she can run around more. The small dog area is basically all dirt which the big dog area has wood chips and cement. The park has scoopers instead of trash bags which was nice. Another plus in our book was how they provided several large water bowls by the water fountain for the dogs. There were also plenty of benches under the shade. We saw a notice posted on the bulletin board saying that this park is closing down. Not sure when this is happening though so enjoy this dog park while you can! read more

This is my first time visiting a dog park, so I may not be quite the expert. Here is the good/bad things I observed. Good: -Location is awesome in the heart of the Brentwood neighborhood. Located by other park recreation areas, so it's a relaxing environment (no big buildings around). -FREE parking lot!! (Let's be real, this is rare in LA) -Two fenced areas to separate big/small dogs. - Entrance includes two fences to get through. So if you're coming with a bunch of dogs, it'll give you an area to collect everyone and leash them. -Water fountain, bowls, rakes, and benches are available. -Entire park is fenced and the big dog park is pretty big! Plenty of space to walk around. Bad: -Ground is dirt, wood chips, and sand. It was a total noob mistake of me to wear WHITE toms. You are warned! -Wear clothes (pants specifically) that you don't mind getting slobber over. Wore lulu sweats-not a good idea!! I felt like my pants attracted dog hair and the slobber was soaked up haha. D: -Most dogs are not on a leash, so I could see problems occurring. I went late afternoon on a weekday. Overwhelmed by the dog to human ratio, probably 15 dogs to one person. Lots of dog babysitters bring their dogs here. Review for the small dog side: What a sad little dog park. This is the first "dog park" I've ever experienced and the best description is: just sad. It is a slab of dirt with a small dying patch of grass surrounded by a chain linked fence - that's it. There's one bench off to one end and one stranded white plastic chair towards the other end that looks like someone brought it and did not want to be bothered taking it back home. This place in is serious need of a little TLC. Now after doing some research, I have come to learn that dog parks are not known for having much grass which is so disappointing. My pup just loves playing in the grass and that is what I had thought a dog park was all about. Pups free to run to their little hearts content in a secured grassy area but alas I was wrong. :( I enjoy walking my little guy but I feel some free roaming time is nice occasionally especially as I am an apartment dweller as most people are in this neighborhood. This dog park does not look like it belongs in this area but it does. I'm so anxious to find my secure grass field and hopefully I will some day. The only reason this park gets 2 stars instead of 1 is because everyone cannot get out and drive to a dog park, whether because of time, transportation or whatnot and having this place, such as it is, is better than nothing for those pups to get outta the house and play! woof woof read more

I've been going to this dog park for several years now and my dog has really enjoyed all of her experiences here! Although I have been to parks that are better landscaped, and certainly those that are cleaner, this play area is huge and allows ample space for dogs to run. The park is mostly composed of bark and concrete walkways; there is no grass! For the most part, there isn't anything too special about the design of this play area. What makes this a fun experience for dogs, however, is the large presence of dog sitters that bring bundles of these furry little faces to play! Also, there is always plenty of parking! I come here every week to observe dogs for class (if you frequent this park on Fridays, yes that's me). I'm not supposed to interact or pet the dogs (because it interferes with observation), but I do it anyway (let's be real, unless you hate dogs, resistance is futile). If I wasn't here for an hour an a half at once, I'd recommend not sitting on the benches, especially the ones left of the entrance. The dogs tend to urinate and defecate there as soon as they come in. It's a nice place to be and in general the dogs that are brought in are well-behaved (save for this on bigass Mastiff that gouged this puppy's eye this one time I was there...pretty sure it was on accident but still), and the owners are all awesome people that pick up their dog's doos. Or they pick up other dog's poops if their owner isn't around, which I'm sure everyone appreciates because otherwise the park would be like walking through a landmine of...crap. A lot of the time I've seen people unload their dogs into the dog park, then go park their cars, but I haven't seen any problems occur due to lack of supervision while the dogs were loose, so no harm done. I've only been here once so far, after hearing some people criticize how small Josyln Park is. It's a little tricky to find. The address is a bit misleading. It's across the street from where you think it is. I came here on a Weds. morning and there were a TON of dogs and really only a handful of people. I think I came during the dog walker rush. It can be a little worrisome when the number of dogs outnumbers the humans by such a great margin, but luckily there weren't any skirmishes during my time there. The large dog area is pretty spacious. I like the L-shaped area because it allows dogs to have their zone (whether they want to fetch with their owners or roam with the others). The wood chips and dirt can get a little stinky. But the pooper scoopers are a nice touch vs. the regular shovel. Most of the dogs here are well-behaved. The owners seem more friendly here, introducing themselves, their dogs, saying hi, making friendly conversation. There didn't seem to be the cliques I've seen elsewhere. Jack and I will definitely be back! read more

THIS DOG PARK IS DANGEROUS!!! My dog was nearly attacked by a few dogs that were running rampant as there were only four dog walkers to something like four dozen dogs due to the fact that they bring a horde of them with them at a time. This pack mentality intimidates the neighborhood dogs. I live just down the block and I can't go to my local dog park because this place is direly unsafe. I've heard of two other separate dogs that have been attacked there -- one to death. Please do something about making this dog park safe in reaching out to your city officials and asking them to keep the dog walkers limited to maybe three or four dogs at a time, max. They cannot control their dogs. This place is definitely unsafe and I highly advise that you do not bring your loving pet there. read more

I've brought my bullmastiff Hank here on and off over the past 7 years since I've had him. All in all, I'd say that this is one of the best dog parks around. It definitely isn't beautiful or picturesque, but it is very well put together. There are separate areas for small dogs and large dogs, and the area for the large dogs is HUGE! There are benches all over the park, so that you can bring a book or the newspaper and just relax while your best friend plays. There are also scoopers and trash cans all over the place, so that you don't have to walk far or bring bags (or in my case a tractor) to clean up your friend's mess. In case of thirst, there are also several waterfountains with dog bowls scattered around the park. Some people complain about the woodchips that cover the ground at the park, but a) they make it easier to clean up the mess, and b) they prevent a lot of mud from forming after the rains that plague us here in Los Angeles ;P But really, when it used to be grass and dirt back in the day, the place was a mess for weeks afterward. Two relevant stories: 1) The park is very well managed. One time a lady had a small foofoo dog that decided to attack my 170 pound dog. It bit Hank on the jowl and wouldn't let go. Hank was shaking his head trying to get the little dog to let go. The small dog's owner thought that Hank had the dog in his mouth, and she freaked... tried to grab Hank... and slipped in the dirt and fell. She then got to her feet crying murder and saying that Hank (the world's sweetest and most gentle giant) had tried to attack her. Fortunately, the lady who manages the parks and recreation in Brentwood had seen the whole thing, and told the lady that she and her dog should leave. The manager then explained to me (and apologized) about the fact that this was not the first time something like this had happened with this woman. 2) Everyone who goes, for the most part, is super-friendly... if they aren't, then they're a dog walker ;) I met a gentleman at the park a few years ago who had two HUGE bullmastiffs. They were playing with Hank, and I was chatting with the guy... very personable. As I was leaving, I introduced myself, and he in turn shook my hand and introduced himself as "Steve." Now I don't know anything about Hollywood or celebrities, but later that evening I was flipping channels and they were talking about Stephen Spielberg... and showed his face... and presto... that was the guy! He was very friendly and down to earth... although perhaps it's because I didn't know who he was and wasn't kissing up to him like most people probably do. So a good place to go. I was torn between 3 stars and 4 stars, but since Hank loves the place so much I'm going 4 stars on his behalf. He told me to. Really. With a big wet kiss and a handshake. read more

A CAT FIGHT IN THE DOG PARK. 1 dog growled at the 2nd dog, and back and forth, till dog walker ran over and kicked one, then the owner and dog walker got into a huge altercation about the dogs. Screaming at each other, cussing. . . After the dog walker kicks one of the dogs, the dog walker says "Where the hell have you been?" Owner, visibly distraught, " I couldn't run over bc I just had surgery" Dogwalker: "oh yah, plastic surgery for your f@cking tits." Owner: "No! A vasectomy!"! then they proceeded to walk around screaming at each other Then the dog walker accused another park goer of ". . She is the one that steals wallets out of cars." Turns to everyone "Go lock your doors everyone!" It was so unbearable that I left. I mean I have 5 month old puppies, dey dont need to see dat shit from grown ass women. :p Again, dogs will be dogs, but it is risky for a dog walker to bring 10 dogs to the park by herself. Let alone after it snarls at another dog to kick it and then blame the owner, "for not running over in time because her fake boobs were holding her back." It's a shame to write this, and Im still going to the park bc it's close and HUGE and my puppies love it. Just be aware of the dog walkers and avoid them like the plague. If I happen to jog by Barrington Dog Park, I'll only run in on super sunny days when I can - hopefully - sight any semi hidden poop bombs or mosquito puddles long enough in advance to be able to circle around them... and make it out of the park with the same color shoes I ran in with! Must love dogs, their guardians, and their poo, but doggies, owners, and feces are just twenty five percent of Barrington's Dog Park. Next to the exclusive lot for canines and canine lovers are two medium sized baseball diamonds, bleachers, and plenty of faded grassy space for the non-canine oriented demographic to enjoy. Doggies have their space to run and play in, and so do we! So I was really excited to visit this dog park after reading all the reviews and I have to say that both myself and my 9 month old Ridgeback mix were really disappointed. First things yes it is definitely HUGE and in a great neighborhood, but I felt like it was a bit on the snobby side, I saw nothing but purebreds and many of the people were so busy on their cell phones that they were totally not watching their dogs. The park is open until 10:30pm which is nice if you don't mind being in the dark. The park has no lights except in the parking lot and I found that to be pretty strange. Why have a dog park open late if you aren't going to light it at night. The large dog area is MASSIVE but the little dog yard looked like less than 1/16 of the big yard. My other big complaint is the wood chips. Think about it, would you like to run and play and roll on the ground in wood chips? NO WAY so why would you dog want to do it. My dog enjoyed walking the perimeter of the park, where the tiny patches of grass were but other than that he was totally dis-interested in playing here which is strange for him. He always runs and acts like a puppy no matter if it's a new park or not and this was not the case here. I guess it's nice because of it's size and there are tons of benches to sit on but I guess I don't go to the dog park to sit and read or talk on my cell phone as dogs are unpredictable and need to have supervision. read more

I hear and see a lot of negative reviews about this dog park, but I think it's a pretty good space for our dog under the right conditions. I do like coming here since it's conveniently located up the street and there is a huge free parking lot. We have a medium sized dog that is confused about her own size (she runs with the big ones and then tries to squeeze into the tiniest of spaces) and plays very well in the one-size fits all park (read: no separate small and large dog park). The park is mostly dirt with small dying patches of grass and scattered benches. Our dog indulges in the water fountain, but sometimes the large bowls have a film of ?detergent (something soapy looking) that makes me a little uneasy. But, luckily, she hasn't had any GI issues.There are plenty of poop scoops and I haven't found negligent amounts of turds on the loose. Some cons of this place-- 1) Dogs that frequent this park like digging holes. I haven't seen a dog park with so many holes. This could be prime for ankle sprains, but luckily someone seems to go around and cover these holes up with a slab of something. 2) During weekdays between 10am-4pm, this place is unofficially (but might as well be official) the territory of professional dog walkers + dog day care peeps. There are about 3-4 groups that come here on the regular. They each have 10-20+ dogs. It's a lot of dogs. We've been here to play during that time and haven't had much issues, but it is true that when dogs exceed people it's harder to keep unwanted behavior in check. It's also a little sad for my dog who isn't in their pack-- she looks like the last kid to be picked in gym class as she follows the packs as an outsider, just wanting a playmate. I like to come early mornings or evenings of weekdays or weekends (all day) when things are a bit quieter. As with all dog parks, you never know the other dog + people personalities that are present. (To the guy whose 50+ pound male dog was mounting my 15# puppy-- please get off your phone and call your dog. Not cool.) Don't ever expect to drop your dog off at the park and enter your alternate iphone universe and expect your dog to entertain themselves. Please keep an eye on your dogs to protect them; please also keep an eye on your dog and stop its asshole behavior if needed. Consider leaving early if you catch even the faintest whiff of trouble; better to err on the side of caution and dog park another day. read more

Got really out of control another dog went to play with their dog who got scared and the guy went ape smacking and kicking the dogs around him (nowhere near his dog) another guy Dogwalker tells him to knock it off as he tries to get his rambunctious lab out of there. The BF Then pushes him hard and starts chest bumping the guy, the poor dog walker was trying to walk away and this guy just kept yelling saying he was gonna mess him up! Then he started yelling at me! I called 911 as did others in the park. They finally left and took their dogs to the soccer field where they continued to threaten and film all of us, i was afraid to leave until police showed up! Those poor Dogwalker's they were there minding their own businesses. This guy and his girlfriend were clearly just batshit crazy! They even tried to say their dog was injured! I was there no dog got injured! If was injured why wouldn't you take to the vet rather than going to soccer field to let them run around! I'm editing because I just saw Irene B review! I hate to give this kind of a review to a place that my dog used to love so much, but I just can't stomach the idea of going to a place where the experts can't agree about its environmental safety: http://www.enviroreporter.com/nukedumpsummary.html While there were some great dogs and owners, over time I noticed an increase in the number of "oblivious" owners. You know who I mean - talking on their cell phone while their dog terrorized the others, pooped with abandon, and the worst dog park offense - opening one gate while the other one was open. I mean PEOPLE, there's a sign that clearly instructs you in the double gate system. READ IT! There are also way too many dog-sitters who push the dog:human limit. read more

A dog park with a parking lot, how nice! My dogs like this place. It's huge and L-shaped so if things get a little too rowdy for your dog in one area, you can mosey on to the other section and hang out there. Lots of room to play fetch, too. A water fountain offers Fido a spot to drink (two big bowls for sharing) and there are pooper-scooper shovels near most of the (admittedly very stinky) trash cans for clean up. The surface is mostly wood chips, with a concrete portion and a bit of grass on the perimeter of one section. The park is located next to an athletic field and there always seems to be a few dogs roaming around (often offleash) in that area, too. Got a wee one? Meh. I'm a big fan of dog parks, but this one holds no candle to Airport Park, especially if you have a small dog that feels more comfortable on the small dog side. The small side is mostly dirt with a little bit of grass in the periphery. It's entirely unshaded, so if you come on a sunny day, everyone's sitting at one end of the park while the dogs are either contained there or at the other end, largely unattended. As such, people don't seem to be as vigilant about their dogs, and on one occasion my dog wound up rolling around in a fresh heap of dog poo. Gross. The small side is really small, and the whole area smells like poo. The pooper-scooper type contraptions that they have are really hard to handle so I wind up just using plastic bags to clean up rather than the contraption + paper. Somehow the rakes + mulch at Airport do a much better job keeping that park sanitary. Murray seems a lot more playful at Airport and I like the people there more, so I'll probably just stick wtih that park. An upside is that there's plenty of free parking and it's the only non-Santa Monica dog park in the West LA/Brentwood area (west of the 405). read more

THE ADDRESS LISTED IS INCORRECT! If you follow the directions listed it will lead you to Barrington Park but the dog park is north of there on the opposite side of the street. It's in a complex with another building and there's a parking lot there. We had a hard time finding it but when we did were happy to see the large amount of space and the generally nice disposition of the people and dogs there. We went when it was very hot out and people were very mindful of refilling the water bowls frequently, etc. It is mostly dirt with some parched grass patches but hopefully after some rain and cooler temps this fall, the grass may be green again. Small dog park: Just take my word on this: skip this one. I thought to myself "Oh, the place can't be that bad, even if the yelp reviews aren't great..." I couldn't have been more wrong. The small dog "park" is more of a "gated enclosure." Nobody picks up after their dogs and everyone seems to just be talking on their cell phones. No place to sit either. I actually felt bad that I took my dogs there. I've heard there were a couple dogs that got into fights in the big dog park and actually got killed, but take the hearsay with a grain of salt. I wouldn't be surprised. Go to the Bone Yard in Culver City instead. read more

I live so close to Barrington Dog Park but never want to come here with my pooch because the landscaping sucks and there are barely ever any small dogs on the small dog side. You have to go at certain hours like evening before sunset or early in the morning. My dog is barely big enough for the big dog side but they get too aggressive for her. When I have time I just take the risk and visit the Santa Monica dog park even though I don't have a permit. It's just way more fun for Coco! If you really want to spoil your dog, go to the one in the valley on Victory. That dog park is amazing and full of grass with three sections for all different sized dogs. read more

I live in West LA and I've been to a couple of dog parks in the area. This one isn't the nicest, but it gets the job done and since it's the closest one to my apartment, it's the one I frequent the most. The park is pretty big, especially the "Large Dog" side. The small dog area is minuscule compared to the one for large dogs, but that makes sense. Most of the park is covered with dirt or mulch with very few patches of grass to be found. The owners are pretty diligent about cleaning up after their dogs, but I have seen unattended poop laying around. The small dog area is relegated to dogs under 30 pounds (30 pounds? really? that's pretty big in my opinion) but i've seen owners with dogs even bigger than that in that section. My dog is 18 pounds so she likes to play on both sides of the fence. Some owners really don't understand how to take care of their dogs. There was this one small dog going berzerk, running around and barking at every big dog on the other side of the fence. Instead of reprimanding the dog, the owner just laughed and allowed it to continue. This caused all of the dogs to get riled up, and eventually 2 dogs started fighting. I understand that inevitably, there will be people who don't know how to control their dogs, but please, use some common sense. Aggression needs to be extinguished immediately and without question. With that said, i'm not going to hold that against Barrington Park cuz those types of people will be found everywhere you go. The score is based on the facility only. read more

In response to Irene B.'s review - She and her boyfriend came today and due to their aggressive actions, 4 people at the dog park had to call the police on them. Her boyfriend opened the inner gate and immediately hit one of my dogs standing by the gate with a leash while screaming "get away!". I went to get the dog and the man screamed at me, "How many dogs do you have?" repeatedly and aggressively. He wouldn't let me speak at all. He proceeded to yell at me telling me I had 15-20 dogs when I actually had 6. These two people brought such bad energy into the park and kept yelling, telling other dog walkers they had "500 dogs!" The man then hit another dog with his leash and screamed at another dog walker, then assaulted the dog walker by pushing him and chest bumping him when the dog walker told him to stop hitting the dog. Several videos were taken to back-up everything that I have written here. Irene's dogs were NEVER attacked as she never put them down on the ground but held them in her arms the whole time then stood with them in-between the entry/exit gates. These two people brought such hate and anxiety into the park for no reason at all. Why come in if you can see how many dogs are there, playing nicely, but you're not comfortable with the number of dogs? I tried repeatedly to suggest to them that they may like the Westwood dog park better since there is a small dog park there, but they would not listen and just kept ranting. They left the park and went into the grassy area where it is illegal to walk your dog (signs posted) to wait for the police to come. it took about 15-20 min. for the police to get there. Irene then told the police her dogs were attacked and they needed to go to the vet. If they were injured, why wait for 20 min., walk on the field then talk to the police for another 15 min.? Her dogs were NEVER touched by any dog and it's people like these two who make the park so miserable for others and their dogs. The dog walker that was assaulted by this man chose to not file charges but clearly should have due to the man's continued physical and verbal aggression. Irene also verbally assaulted me, calling me hateful names. Dog walkers are allowed to bring a number of dogs to the dog park, which is what Irene and her boyfriend were told by the police. We do not condone any aggressive behavior from the dogs or people coming to the park. We would not want to be liable for any dogs to be injured as we value them and our businesses. We take great care in screening our dogs to make sure they are appropriate for the dog park in order for them to have an enjoyable, fun and successful visit to the park. I must add that the dog walkers are the ones who pay for all the pooper scoopers and often do small repairs to the park. We are constantly picking up poop the whole time we are at the park, be it from one of our dogs or any other dog there. read more

We just adopted our second small dog, and thought we'd give this park a try. Our first adopted dog is so well behaved and gets so many walks in our neighborhood, that whenever we bring her to the dog parks she's bored. However, with a new addition it seemed like a good idea to let the two of them run around together. The nightmare started in the parking lot with all the aggro drivers in SUV's speeding to get into the front row parking spots. Wouldn't want to have to walk 5 extra yards. We went into the small dog area, and it was so dirty and gloomy that our dogs wanted no part of it and just sat by us, no matter how we enticed them. Then, the dog walker showed up with her 10+ dogs. She brought them in all at once (well, two groups of 5) then proceeded to bring a very large and unruly looking pitbull in as well. She kept the pit leashed, but I don't think she had much control over it. That was it for us and we exited stage left and walked them on leash in another park. To me, any neighborhood/park that's a little better maintained with better dog owners is worth the leashing for the dogs. read more

I'd like to know, because I get conflicting information, if it is true that dog-walkers are limited to 3 dogs at the park. When I called Barrington Dog Park number, they did tell me there is a 3 dog limit, but that it is not enforced. I'm so tired of going to the park and having dog-walkers arrive with more than 10 dogs a walker. I love dogs! Dog walkers do a great service for our city, but I don't like that the walkers arrive, making 2 and 3 trips to their vans returning with packs of dogs, which come on, how can they watch where all the dogs are pooping. When the dog-walkers are not there, the park is peaceful and nice, but when they arrive, the park becomes too crowded, especially because they all seem to arrive at the same time! Lets enforce the 3-dog limit for this park! read more

Wood chips instead of grass?? Awww c'mon. The pics are the surrounding park area. The people here are scared for their dogs. Over protective doggie parents. Thats what dogs do though--ruffhouse. Not a lot of running around going on and thats what we were there for. So...would only come in here if passing through. At least it was clean--people pick up. read more
