Overpriced. Rude. Uninspired. With the closing of Fresh Flower Market in Barrington, I have tried this floral on a handful of occasions, giving them a chance. No more. My young adult sons ordered flowers for me last Mother's Day and they were rude to my son on the phone and to my other son when he picked up the flowers. My husband got me flowers from there this Valentines Day. As I disposed of them, I find them to have all sorts of tape used to hold them in place which should not be necessary and makes it VERY messy to take out. And to my greatest disappointment, the arrangements are traditional, not at all creative or inspired and very expensive. read more

Called the shop to say how disappointed I was in the arrangement and was told that my purchase was "to value", and there was nothing they could do (or would do, apparently). I was also told that the $35 - $75 range is considered a small arrangement. I was not expecting big. But 6 flowers for $50? Really? read more

I wanted a couple of vased arrangements and a center-piece for a dinner party I was hostessing recently. Couldn't make up my mind on the color scheme until the week prior. Despite only giving these guys 1 day's notice, they did an absolutely FANTASTIC job on each arrangement and had them delivered to my house by the time we'd agreed upon, the day of my party, all ready to go! The arrangements were TRULY gorgeous- all coordinated with one another in a tasteful way, incorporating my color scheme (light pinks/yellow) and had a nice variety of flowers, including larger/smaller sized blooms (lillies, gerber daisies, snap dragons, etc). The vased arrangements were big & showy just like I'd asked, and the table's center-piece was even prettier than what I had imagined.. very elegant. The flowers lasted quite a while, too... much longer than anything I've ever ordered from Jewel. Really felt like they put a lot of care into my order and it was well worth the cost. I was impressed by how polite and pleasant they were to deal with, on top of creating beautiful arrangements for my event!! We ordered roses to be delivered same day for a birthday, and specifically asked about the condition of the flowers. The recipient sent us a photo of the roses and we were horrified - all of the blooms were open and mature. These roses will be wilted in just a couple of days. I ordered flowers for my mom's birthday from the website. The photo displayed the standard size flower arrangement, so I ordered the "best" option for $20 more which is presumably bigger in size. (The options are standard, better, best). The flower arrangement arrived on time but the arrangement was measly... not worth the $60 I spent on it and smaller than the displayed "standard" size photo. They used 3 roses, 2 sunflowers, and 2 lilies... not expensive flowers as the store attendant later admitted over the phone. So why was the arrangement so small?? 3 days prior, for $70, I sent a much grander arrangements with unique flowers from NYC with same day delivery and Barrington Flower Shop cant give me my moneys worth, esp with mediocre flowers?? Immediately upon receiving the flower arrangement I called up the store and expressed my dismay; after many defensive protests saying this is the "best" size, this is the usual size, and admitting that these aren't expensive flowers, the store attendant finally offered to either refund some of the money or redo the arrangement of which I chose the latter. The new arrangement arrived 30min -1 hr later and was a little better and bigger than the previous. All in all, I would really hesitate to order from Barrington Flower Shop unless they improve their act. As a neighborhood shop, at the very least I expect my moneys worth, an arrangement chosen as the "best" size should be significantly better than the "standard" size shown on the website photo. At the most, they shouldn't insult their own neighbors who chose to order from the neighborhood store by providing less than the best. read more

You might think that a flower shop in the middle of an affluent community would provide timely and reliable service but not this one! Ordering the flowers was simple enough but the delivery is a nightmare. I ordered a large arrangement of roses and other springtime flowers to send to my mom for mother's day. Instructions were provided for delivery about how and where to access the property. The driver supposedly came to the house but couldn't figure out how to call the house. He left. My mom then called the shop to reschedule the delivery but the shop first asked if she could pick up her flowers. Whaat?! Isn't the point of this type of gift the surprise? I paid a delivery charge after all. Not to mention the order was made in advance, scheduled for delivery the Friday BEFORE Mother's Day and the shop is all of 2 miles, off a main road, from the house. The driver probably passed the property 5 times in a couple hours. So...after my mom told the shop she was unable to pick up the flowers herself...they told her to wait for re-delivery between 12-2pm. Mom said fine but asked that they be prompt as she had to pick up the grandkids from school just after 2pm. The driver arrived again, at the wrong gate...but this time he called. My mother told him he was at the wrong entry and that he needed to go one gate south of where he was to gain access to the property. The driver hung up the phone and left. My mother waited another 15 minutes thinking he was somehow lost in the 300 feet between gates... but it turns out he was just a jerk. My mom was super stressed out, missed going to the grocery store waiting those 2 hours for delivery and was late picking up the kids from school and still didn't get her mothers day flowers. As an aside, about 75% of homes in this town are gated. It's not a complicated thing to press a button that is labeled "Call". Needless to say, since it's now a day before mothers day it's too late to cancel and order from some where else. I sent a friend of mine who drove 40 miles, in one direction, to pick up the flowers personally and deliver them to mom. No apology, no discount, no refund, no delivery...just bad attitudes at this establishment. I do not recommend supporting this business with your patronage. read more

I ordered flowers and chocolates from his shop to be delivered to my mother on her birthday. She never received them. The next day a little before noon there was still no delivery so I called the shop and a woman answered, took my name and number, and told me she was not at the shop but someone would call me back ASAP. Later that day the flowers and chocolates were delivered but left at front door so the chocolates melted in the 90 plus degrees. My mother was home the entire day and said no one rang the doorbell. No one ever called so I called the next day to complain. I talked to a woman AT the shop and she took a detailed message along with my name and number and told me the manager would call the next day when he was in and would "most likely compensate for it being late". I never received a call. The lack of delivery is too bad- they missed her birthday- but the lack of follow up customer service is incredibly offensive. read more

I'm being generous with a 2-star review. They promised morning delivery for my mom's 90th birthday, but made it at 2pm. I requested 18 long stem roses in 3 colors (red, pink, white), to represent her 18 children, grand children and great grandchildren, with perhaps a little filler. The arrangement is stuffed with greens overpowering the roses, and the pink roses are nearly red which negated the effect. They said the order was delayed because the fresh flowers didn't make it until after 1, however the roses in the arrangement are mostly full blooms, not buds or early blooms --I don't expect them to last out the week, and she'll be left with a vase stuffed with rotting greens. It doesn't look designed at all, just thrown together. I'm very disappointed. read more
