What a ripoff!! Three girlfriends chipped in together to get a funeral arrangement for a friend. We had $130.00 to spend and this florist is right next door to the funeral home. All we got were 6 yellow roses, a few white hydrangeas and some sticks. See photo below. I was extremely embarrassed to have my name associated with such a cheap arrangement. My friend placed the order and all they asked her was what colors she wanted and how much she wanted to spend. We all live out of town but a friend attended the funeral and sent pictures. One of the most unique floral shops around. My best friend had her wedding bouquets done from here and they were gorgeous! Duke's also has there center pieces from here as well, and I always want to take them home haha. John is extremely knowledgeable about flowers so he knows just what you want and what is complimentary and in season. They did my son's homecoming corsage for his girlfriend, and it was simple, elegant, and she received a ton of compliments. I live in Florida part time and needed a bouquet of flowers delivered to my daughter in Crystal Lake. I ordered online and they promptly called me to get all the details. It was her opening night in the Sound of Music and not only did they deliver the most beautiful bouquet of flowers they included a stem of Edelweiss with a tag attached! Buyer beware. I am VERY disappointed in the centerpieces we received for my daughter's sweet 16 birthday party. We special ordered blue hydrangeas as the main flower with other flowers as filler. There was only 1 hydrangea per centerpiece and each centerpiece was MUCH MUCH smaller than expected for the price. When I brought my concerns to the store I was told it was because of all the pricey flowers. Well considering that all I asked for were hydrangeas and I only received 1 per arrangement I'm not sure how that explains anything. Their recourse for the situation was to come take them away the day before the party (leaving me with no flowers for her party) if I didn't like them. VERY POOR customer service and I now have a very disappointed daughter. read more

We chose Twisted Stem Floral to do the bouquets and boutonnieres for our wedding. I had visited a few other floral shops but when I walked into Twisted Stem I was done!! I did not want your typical Rose Bouquet...as a matter of fact, I wanted no Roses anywhere in my wedding. When I walked into John's shop, there were sticks, and vines and bright exotic flowers and I just knew I was in the right place. John was a wizard with flowers. He took the ideas I had in my head and verbalized them and then made them come to life. He was incredibly friendly and professional. When I had gone into other shops trying to explain what I wanted, they looked at me like I had two heads. John and his shop are unique and different. He really captures what he does with his catchphrase, "edgy yet elegant". Perfect way to describe his "vibe". When people asked me what my bouquet was going to look like I told them "I have no idea". I was not the least bit worried that I wouldn't like it. I told John things I liked and things I for sure didn't want...and He created a piece of art. It was the most beautiful bouquet I have ever seen. I got so many compliments on it. The boutonnieres as well as the bridesmaid bouquets were also unique and different. My bridesmaid bouquets were the center of a sunflower (minus the petals) bunched together and nestled in a bed of sticks. They offset the elegant dresses and pulled in the woodsy rustic vibe I was going for perfectly. I would highly recommend him for anything you need flowers for. I will return for sure! read more

I couldn't have been more disappointed with this place. I had driven past it countless times and wanted to give it a try. From the look of the store front, website, and the store inside I was sure I would have liked their work. Even though they're a good 25-30 min drive from me and a little pricey I thought it was worth working with them for a bouquet of flowers for my mom's birthday. I had went in the actual store to place my order since I wanted to show and explain to them exactly what I was looking for. The associate was nice enough I suppose. We went over and over what I wanted. We had talked, looked at pictures, etc. Now, I know with flowers there are bound to be some differences....but this was ridiculous. Since my normal florist (Kinsch Village) wouldn't deliver as far as I wanted, I went with Twisted Stem for an arrangement. Overall, the arrangement was quite nice. It was a compact arrangement with very intricate flowers, some of which I've never seen before. I can only give three stars, though, as I thought I'd get a bit more of an arrangement for the price I paid. I don't like to pick things out of books, so I requested a certain type of bouquet at a certain price point, and although it was nice, I wasn't blown away like I had anticipated. I think their designs and flower selection were very creative and contemporary, but I'd like to see a few more things from them before adding a star or two. read more

After many years and many floral arrangements, I recently received an arrangement that was gorgeous, however within a day the flowers had died! Worse off it was a gift, when I called they were less than pleased to help resolve the issue. I am very frustrated seeing as I have purchased many arrangements over the years and referred numerous clients. We used Twisted Stem for our wedding in August 2013. We received plant from them as a gift from a good friend of ours, who highly recommended John and his work. We knew what we were looking for when we came in and John was able to make it happen for us. The flowers were fantastic at every level and each had its own personality. They are truly artists! The arrangements they put together are of the highest quality. They sit down with you for a consultation and look at what you have for a venue, what dress the bride is wearing, colors for the wedding, etc, and then they'll share with you their thoughts and ideas for what will look good (and they are experts!), what won't look good, and what is within your budget. The Twisted Stem because I complained decided on their own free will to call the church where the funeral was bring held, who then contacted a member of the family and informed them that because I complained that they were coming to pick up the flowers. I never once asked for my money to be returned, upon my complaint I was given this option which I declined. I talked to the guy and we showed me a ton of very beautiful flowers they had then we talked about what I was looking to get.
