My family and I thoroughly enjoyed this place! From outside to inside it is decorated joyfully. The outside is decked out in lights while the inside is overflowing with lights and beautiful decorations. Prices were more than reasonable for the amount of food. We came to Barrio for lunch and just realized that they have a pretty decent priced lunch menu. I ordered the lunch taco salad with shredded chicken and my friend ordered the lunch fajita with chicken, shrimp, and steak. I will say I was a little disappointed with our food. Although the taco salad had quite a few ingredients, the meal overall was very bland and the chicken was very dry. I even tried to add salsa to it and that didn't help. It seemed like it needed some extra seasoning or maybe some melted cheese. Also we noticed with the lunch fajita, they don't give you a lot of meat. My friend was able to squeeze in maybe 2 fajita wraps. Beware they do give you a lot of peppers and onions... maybe two much in my opinion. read more

Ate here because I knew of the one in Sylacauga Alabama, service was okay could of been better since looks like it was more a worker place to be on their phones. We really enjoyed our lunch. The chips were better quality than we usually get at similar establishments. The food was excellent. We shared a grilled chicken fajitas nachos and it was plenty for the two of us. The service was 5-star. We were immediately provided with chips and salsa and asked for our drink order. Popped in on a busy Sunday lunchtime for a first visit. Quick seating and friendly staff. Chips and salsa right when we sat down and receiving our entrees in 10 minutes later. I had grilled chicken chimichanga that blew my mind. Never had a better one. The chips, salsa, queso and my daughter's quesadilla were all wonderful. Typically this is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in the area of Alabaster. Sadly due to very poor customer service tonight, I will not return. It was pretty busy but that is no excuse for my table of one not getting the same service as a table of 6-8. The waiter was frustrated that he got my order wrong and when I asked for him to correct it, he proceeded to go back and forth with me on what he thought I ordered. I'm also a regular, I am familiar with many of the Waite staff and was very disappointed that the server would cause a scene in front of other patrons instead of apologizing for missing my order. A simple nachos supreme with grilled chicken--I've requested it many times but tonight it was a problem. Sir--my dollars are green just like your tables of 6-8. Please do better. I dropped by Barrio Fiesta for take out on the way home from buying groceries. My call in experience was great. I could easily understand the lady on the phone. They don't offer curb side so I did have to go inside to get my order. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with a ceiling full of glowing paper lanterns. Everything looked clean and I was warmly greeted. I only had to wait a few minutes in my order. Everything was still hot when I got home almost a thirty minutes later. We got the chicken and steak fajitas with chips, salsa, and cheese dip. Their salsa is tasty with a bit of medium heat. The chips were fresh, thin, and crispy. The cheese dip could have been a bit more spicy but it was delicious none the less. The fajitas were well seasoned with onions and peppers. They came with four flour tortillas and your typical refried beans, seasoned rice, lettuce, pico, sour cream and guacamole. They were very good and the portions were generous. Because I live nearby, I'd seen the transition and progress of this restaurant site. The idea of being able to eat out on the patio was appealing, so a small group went for lunch during the week. I ordered the taco salad with chicken, and it was really good. Others at the table requested accommodations for allergies, and they were very good about fulfilling them. The staff is super friendly and extremely eager to please. From what I've been told, these are the same owners who had the Mexican restaurant across the parking lot which has since closed. If so, this has been a great move for them. Particularly if the weather is nice, you need to be there early in the evenings or any time on the weekends. This location has just opened and my 14 year old was "starving" as we traveled through Birmingham. Never heard of it, so I thought we would stop. I did not even realize it was a Mexican restaurant, just saw that it was new. The menu is going to have all of your normal Mexican restaurant dishes, I would say there was nothing on the menu I did not recognize, which was a little disappointing. Also, the choices for meat were chopped, or shredded, beef, chicken and shrimp. There may have been a fish dish also. Notably, el pastor, barbocoa, lingua, chorizo, etc.... Were both available. There was not "authentico" section of the menu. I had two tacos and some cheese dip because I was not hungry. The tacos were well filled with ground beef, and the cheese dip was solid. My son had a chimichanga with shredded beef. We enjoyed our meals, just nothing really any different than any other place. The salsa with the chips and salsa was good, I asked for spicy salsa and that was really good also. They seemed to have a really good drink menu, just did not have the chance to try anything. We visited here today for the first time but it won't be our last that's for sure. The wait staff were wonderful from getting our orders fast to refilling tea and drinks. The food was wonderful. I think I love this place more every time I eat here. The staff are so kind and attentive and the service in general is great! I don't think I've ever waited for longer than 10 minutes after I ordered for food. I love the chorri burrito and highly recommend it if you're a chorizo fan. They have a lot of space and a large outdoor patio, there was a lot of people but I was seated immediately and the service was very fast. The menu is limited and looks like an identical copy of the Los Mesas restaurant a few miles away in Calera. I ordered the Fajita Rancheros, Texan with chicken, steak and shrimp. Stopped by here briefly for a quick snack since we were waiting on tires to be installed on our car at NTB. The decor inside is super fun and colorful. They have a huge bar to sit at and plenty of alcohol to choose from. I really enjoyed their salsa and the watermelon margarita was fantastic. If I had more time I would have definitely tried more flavors. We also got the queso with the chorizo in it. Some places they water it down a lot, but it wasn't the case here. Our server was super nice and the booths were very comfortable. They also have a covered outdoor area that I'm sure will be fun during the summer time. I'm confused by some of the bad reviews I read for this place. The reviewers were either confused and rated the wrong place or the restaurant had a slow start. Everything was on point from the jump. Service exceptional and quick, food was delicious and authentic, prices extremely fair. I got the 2 tacos lunch with rice for $6.75 (unbelievable value). Everything was delicious. They also have some of the best salsa for a mexican restaurant that I've had. This will be a new go to for our family when we want Mexican. We have been here a couple of times and it's just your average Mexican restaurant. The ambience is same decor, lively, large, and colorful. The food was decent but the menu lacks novelty and uniqueness to other restaurants in the area and neighboring cities. Our service here has been horrible. I watched our waitress and other staff completely ignore us in the corner, failing to refill drinks or come back to see if we needed anything after also forgetting part of our order. This is our second time visiting this restaurant. The other time was years ago, and I don't remember not being satisfied with the food or service. This time the food was just OK, but the service was awful. The guy who refilled drinks and salsa was excellent, but our waiter took our order, brought the food, and we never saw him again at our table. We sat and waited for the check, and finally went to the register and the cashier had to go get it . We understand if the waiter is busy with a lot of tables, but this wasn't the case. The menu wasn't anything special either. I had the chicken fajitas. The portion size was good, and the food itself was good. Since most of the Mexican restaurants are close in quality, one of the main things that help me determine if I will be back are the chips and salsa. I was happy with the freshness and thickness of the chips. I've been to some where the quality of the chips was a major factor in my not returning. So the chips and salsa get a thumbs up from me The service was just OK. Our waiter was nice, but he didn't check on us. My glass was empty for maybe 10-15 mins before he came back to check. Average Mexican Restaurant, I had a steak quesadilla, it was just ok, meat not well seasoned. Hubby had beef enchiladas w/Spanish rice & he said it was edible but just average. Service was awful, had to ask someone else who was not our server to get our waitress to bring the check (they were not busy this was between 4-5pm, NOT peak meal times) because our waitress purposefully did not look our way or stop to check on us. Still took another 10-15 minutes to receive the check. We had cheese dip which was just average along w/the salsa (nothing to write home about) check came out to around $35 before tip. I've been here a few times, and I absolutely love the outdoor seating. The Skinny Margarita with jalapeño in a Tajin rimmed glass is perfection! The Spinach dip and Chorizo dip are yummy. The Chili Relleno is also good. Overall, good experiences here. read more

Have tried to eat here a couple of times. They evidently think covid has gone away. They have tables outside but they are right next to each other with no space. Outside was pack so we thought maybe inside was empty. They had one large section closed and was packing everyone in one small section in booths back to back with no barriers. We explained to the maskless hostess that we wanted to be at least 6 feet away from people and she led us straight to a booth that had people in the 2 booths on each side of it. Food was cold, my order was wrong two times in a row, and it had 0 flavor. As I said when it came it tasted like it had been sitting for a while as it was room temperature. The chips were so greasy that it wasn't eatable. There were flies in my food when it arrived and two hairs in the food. The lettuce was brown and the cheese was not good might have been out of date. Terrible service too. The severe couldn't understand me and as I said messed up my order twice. Save yourself a trip and go somewhere else. I will bot be going back :( read more

Our server was great. The kitchen staff ruined it. They were playing different music over the music playing in restaurant. The cook was banging the bell for food pick up over and over so loud. We asked them to stop...did not. Then a very little man with a gold chain interrupted us telling our server we needed to go due to this. The little guy argued with my pregnant daughter over the appropriateness. It was so loud where we sat we couldn't hear each other talk.Very rude.
