Brian has a complete knife sharpening shop in his mobile workshop (van) and knocked out straightening, polishing, AND sharpening of four super banged up decade-old Global knives in less than 15 minutes, less than half an hour after I called him to schedule an appointment! I'm a hairdresser of 17 years and my coworkers have even more than that maybe about 25 and 30 years. Barron is somebody I found online because the good ones end up retiring because that's just what they do and then you have other people that are kind of trying to pick up the pieces but it seems that nobody sharpens their own shears anymore they just send them out to another company to do. Brian was able to sharpen my kitchen knives and a camping knife in his mobile knife sharpening van. The custom mobile knife sharpening van is super cool, by the way. Brian has mad sharpening and refurbishing skills. He encouraged me to bring older knives to him and he could sharpen and refurbish those, too. His pricing is simple and very affordable. He could probably charge considerably more. But I have to say it was refreshing to not get gouged on price. I think he's able to pass along some of his savings because of being mobile and not paying store front overhead. But the most impressive part of this experience was seeing a couple of the custom knives Brian crafted at his bench. He's a true artisan. I'm not sure how many of these he makes, but they would make beautiful gifts if he does sell them. I'll definitely be back to get more things sharpened. I brought 2 hand crafted Chinese chef knives to Brian at his Palm Ave location to sharpen while i went grocery shopping near by, the two knives weren't the easiest to sharpen due to their length and profile. I came back a bit later and 2 incredibly sharpened knives were returned to me. Brian done a wonderful job sharpening them and he was very careful during the sharpening process on not to damage the patina on my knives. Found Brian while searching on Yelp, and gave him an email and within 15 minuted I got a call back from him. I thought it would take a few days for him to come out, but he said he could do it same day. 30 minutes later he was at our home. We gave him about 20+ knives to work on - kitchen and pocket knives. My mom also came over and gave him a saw and garden shears. After about 1 hour all items were sharpened and cleaned up. I'm no blade expert, but I could tell the edges were consistent and of course sharp. Definitely beats taking the time to sharpen them myself - it would have taken me the entire day. I visited my sister in CA and had the pleasure of meeting the owner/operator Mr. Barron while he sharpened her set of knives. He has a very cool mobile sharpening vehicle and has a lot of specialized equipment for dealing with different types of blades.
