After 18 years of loyal, but damp, service, we had to replace three large Hunter Douglas blinds in our bathroom. The design is a bit complicated as we like to keep the shades open at the top to see the sky in the morning. The Barrows team was fantastic in reviewing all the style and price options. Most importantly, they sent a measurement person who also brought a sample book, so that I could see the shade options and colors in the room. We are extremely happy with the final result. read more

This was my fourth time using Barrows for window treatment. Obviously I was pleased if I used Barrows for each place I lived. Never again. This time they badly mis-measured the windows in a bedroom. Because of that mistake, the window treatments were unusable and had to be re-done. For a few months, Barrows gave me an expected date of arrival, but the date kept being pushed out. Eventually, Barrows stopped up-dating me and I heard nothing. I began calling to try to get information. I thought I had been forgotten and my order lost. Every time I called, I got a different person. In all, I was passed around to five different people as I tried to get information. It took five months to get the window treatments and when I did get them, they were not the original fabric because that was no longer available. (Barrows did not notify me this was going to be the case.) In the past, the installers have been excellent. This time, the men who came to install, did not know what they were doing and I had to argue with them to place the window treatments so that the most light could be blocked. Barrows eventually offered me a small amount of money as compensation. Imagine my feelings when the window treatments I waited so long for finally arrived and were installed, to get a coupon from Barrows for $500 to be used upon initial consultation. That was like adding insult to injury. The delay in my receiving my order was not Barrows' fault. That was a supply chain problem that began to develop just at the time of the order. The original mis-measurement WAS Barrows' fault. Had the original measurement been done accurately, I would not have encountered the supply chain problem. I don't think Barrows is the company it once was and I would not use them again. read more

Since my first review we had Barrows do another set of window treatments and we had a much better experience. Installation was smooth and very professional. They have also come to repair a piece in our older window treatments and for that they have been very responsive. We will work with them again. read more

I have very expensive Hunter-Douglas Duolite motorized shades. One of the cords inside broke. Barrow's let me know that the shade was still under warranty, which I wouldn't have known if they didn't tell me. I appreciate their honesty. Faster service is important too. read more

We've used Barrows for windows in two JP condos now, for a variety of roman shades, venetian blinds and sunshades. The selection is great, both brand name standards in blinds and sunshades and a gorgeous range of fabrics for custom roman shades. We've also done the business of ordering shades online from discount houses and installing ourselves, but the price difference in the end didn't seem so great. If you need shades v. curtains for a particular room, if you like the assurance of having people come to the house with samples, take measurements, and take care of the installation, it's worth stopping in at Barrows. read more

This shop has a great selection and they come out to your home and measure the windows. We live nearby and we've bought very solid attractive wood Hunter Douglas blinds here and accordian blinds as well. I recently brought a blind in for repair and the staff was kind of snippy to me and insisted I didn't purchase the item there. The products are pricey so I guess you're paying for the service and location. read more

I will echo what others have said about the customer service. I also attempted to have something repaired and I was treated poorly. I'm sure I'll get a defensive and dismissive reply on here from Virginia (as she has for others), but she can't take down my review or deny how I felt about dealing with her. Apparently child-proof standards had changed since my blind was purchased and the new cord that was put on unclasps easily. When I brought in the shade, Virginia said it was "just another way the federal government is interfering in our lives" and "I can't tell you to glue it shut 'wink, wink, nudge, nudge.'" She literally said "wink, wink..." I don't go to a blinds place that charges an arm and a leg to discuss politics with you, so shut it. In June of 2016, the shade that they repaired in September 2015 broke again. After dropping off the item that they had already repaired inefficiently, I waited more than two weeks to call since Barrows didn't call me. When I called THEM, they said they didn't do the repair in the first place (which they did), or send it to Hunter Douglas, so they wouldn't be helping me out. When I asked why she didn't call me and tell me, she said they were "inundated" with work. I've been there four times. I was always the only customer in the place. When I showed up to pick up the unrepaired shade I asked her why I didn't get a call. She said with dripping sarcasm "Have a nice day' as if I hadn't asked a question that warranted a reply! No apology, no recognition. A "we're sorry about that" would have gone a long way. read more

Jim Roller visited our home to repair an issue with the battery pack for our Hunter Douglas shades. He provided an extraordinary example of how one goes about exceeding customer expectations. He not only took ownership of our problem, he embraced it. He expertly gained access to the battery pack when the shade was stuck in the down position. More importantly, he taught us how to make sure we never again have the same problem. Before his departure, he inquired about any questions/issues we might have with other Hunter Douglas shades in our home. We needed new shades for our sunroom and a drapery for the slider. I went to Barrows in hopes of finding exactly what we wanted. George is terrific. He's very helpful and knowledgeable. They have a huge assortment of gorgeous fabrics to choose from. I took a few fabric books home, picked what I wanted and George came by a few days later to measure. 5-6 weeks later my beautiful shades and drapery arrived. They look amazing and we're very happy. There was a question when the installers put up the drapery. They noticed something wasn't wasn't quite right with the rod. They ordered a new one, Virginia kept me updated on its impending arrival and about a week later, they came back to replace the rod. No matter what follow up I have needed over the years, repairing a cord or replacing a latch, the staff has always been incredibly helpful, super quick & made it happen for me. I have been hiring Barrows for 8 years for our new custom blinds & I love the fact that i can depend on them to help me out and that they re always here to guarantee their products in the future. I ordered plantation shutters for the master bedroom at our new home. They were measured, made and delivered but the installation did not go as intended. Turns out we have a weird transom that precluded the shutters opening and closing easily. Barrow immediately ordered replacement shutters at their expense. From the person who gave us preliminary info by phone to the appointment scheduler to the measurer to the admin staff who track orders and to the truly capable and personable installation team, all of Barrows service was excellent. New shutters installed yesterday. Looks fabulous. Very happy to have chosen. barrows. Knew of them but had never used them before, but definitely will again. read more

I can't believe the complaints about Virginia at Barrow's. I did NOT purchase my Hunter Douglas Power Lift window shades from Barrow's. Nevertheless she was extremely helpful and gracious when they handled my warranty request with Hunter Douglas. She or an associate returned all my calls to keep me updated. Hunter Douglas wasn't the greatest, but thanks to Barrow's I now have my blinds back and working in good order. read more
