Jason is owner of Mohawk and sent Anthony to fix two Venetian blinds. Anthony arrived right on time and fixed the living room blind skillfully by finding a small missing part and reinstalling it so it now functions. He then informed me that blind in bathroom was unfixable and had to be replaced. He measured the window and removed broken blind. I had a blind repaired here by John. He was old school and he knew GOOD customer service. Well he retired but, the owner told me when I called we can fix your shade, no problem he said. He asked the type of shade. I detailed the issue. The shade needed the cord and cord ring guides to lift the Roman shade. He said he understood. "Bring it in and we can fix it." When I dropped off the shade I told the employee I had spoken to the owner and I reiterated to the employee the problem. The employee said they either had the ring guides or could get them. A week later the owner has the employee call me and tell me the shade cannot be fixed. When I asked him to explain why, he said he didn't know he was just the messenger. Ok, well I would like to know what changed from a week ago. Can I talk to the owner? Owner gets on the phone saying "we can't get the parts the shade must be too old." REALLY? The shade and it's mates are in great condition and John just retired last year. I provided you the cord needed. The owner straight out lied because when I said there are no ring guides in the world.......he said "well there are too many rings to replace, John is a better man than I. I am not going replace all those ring cord guides and I would have to charge you a lot more than the shade is worth" Ok sir you just don't want to fix the shade. He could of just said after looking at the shade, I don't want to fix it instead of flat out lying. Had I bit the bait I believe the conversation would have returned into a sales pitch for new shades. It is a shade store. read more

Used Mohawk in the past with great success, but the business has been sold to a new owner, Tim, who just charged me 200% of what I'd previously paid for the same shades - with a bunch of noise about "tarifs" and "special custom order" etc. Unfortunately, I was out of time to research other vendors for that project, so I paid what he quoted. Two weeks later I checked around and found that the shades should have been priced at or even below the price I previously paid Mohawk. Big opportunist rip off. Be very afraid. read more

I was able to promptly schedule a free estimate with Tim who measured our windows and had a wide variety of metal and wood blind samples in different colors. We picked on the spot and Mohawk placed the order for our custom wood blinds the next business day. The blinds arrived sooner than expected within 10 business days and Ray from Mohawk installed them. They are a major game changer for our living room and fit just right. They allow for both privacy or tons of light during the day. Some of my old window shades in the top floor had accumulated so much damage over the years that they practically disintegrated when I pulled them down. I brought them to Mohawk to have them replaced, and Jason got me a quote within the day and the shades were ready within the week. Afterwords, due to my own mismeasurement, I discovered that the shades did not properly fit the windows. I wish there's a way to give 10 stars. Their service is top notch. We've had some ridiculous issues with Hunter Douglas shades and it's no fault of Window Brilliance. These guys stuck with us and helped us throughout everything. HD's faulty products had us go through multiple exchanges, and WB has been super patient with us. I can't imagine anyone else giving this kind of after sales service. At the end they came up with a solution that works even better than what we had originally. If you're already spending good money on Hunter Douglas shades, pay attention to who you're doing business with. I will definitely return to Window Brilliance for my next project. read more

Trash company. They took our shades and them brought them back and wanted to charge an extra installation fee for drilling 6 new holes into the ceiling. The tech then mouthed off about how he works for money not for free. Ironically his rant was longer than it took to drill the holes, literally took 2 minutes to drill all the holes. What terrible customer service. I will never use them again. But, if terrible customer service, being overcharged, and belittled is your thing, I would highly recommend them. read more

I cannot tell you how grateful I am to John at Mohawk Shade who has twice helped me out of difficulty with grace and expertise. I bought my complicated blind set-up from a purveyor who has since disappeared; when I needed to know how to adjust the blind cords, John stayed in his shop past closing time until I could get there so he could (at no charge) show me. This week, a technician (perhaps John himself?) from Mohawk came from Cambridge to Boston at very short notice to replace the brackets on a shade that had been sucked into a vacuum cleaner by its cords (don't ask); my tenants needed immediate action, and immediate and expert action is what they got. I've used Mohawk Shade & Blind twice, and I've been very happy. The first time, I came with a defective, fancy blind of a brand that Mohawk doesn't work with. Since they didn't have the replacement part available, the man I worked with (the owner, I assume) came up with a creative work-around, involving turning the defective part around and re-stringing the shade backwards. Anyway, it worked! The second time was for a more conventional repair. Both times, the work was done when promised. It's a good idea to call in advance to see what hours the owner will be in the shop on a particular day. I had worried that the cigarette smell in the store (not sure it's still there, but it was years ago) would get into my shades, but it didn't -- and I'm really sensitive to it, so I would've noticed. I'm very glad Mohawk is there, and I selfishly hope the owner never retires. read more
