The first time I called him, I was having problems with my Rav4 stalling and he diagnosed it as a problem with the radiator before even seeing the car, and of course he was right. Radiator was bad and leaking. Replaced it the next day so only half day of down time... Unheard of!!! Found a problem with valve cover gasket at that time and when I brought it back a few weeks later, had it replaced and ready in under 2 hours. About two weeks after buying a private party vehicle, it started overheating, after going back and forth with the seller we realized he was aware of the issues and was possibly running a chop shop so all of the "work" he had done was not reported to car fax and the damages were extensive. We had several mechanics look at it and wasted some money having it mis-diagnosed before finding Lassandro Barr. Once he got the vehicle he took his time diagnosing it and came up with a completely different conclusion and ended up replacing the entire fan unit, the part was over 400 so he gave us a great deal on labor (so good I felt kind of bad). Shortly after this repair the chop shop hose blew (they cut a 7 foot metal ac pipe and replaced it with a rubber hose to get it to run and pass smog) and this job was much more extensive in labor and something Lassandro had never seen before. Even so, he was able to figure it out and got the job done as quickly as he could while keeping us informed he whole time. He then took the time to make sure that nothing else would go wrong. He even found a leaking heater hose and replaced it for free to keep our bill at cost. When I was unable to find a ride to pick up my car he offered to pick me up. I have never had a better experience with any mechanic in my life. Lassandro made a horrible situation so much better and he really went above and beyond. I will never go anywhere else for any work on any vehicle I own for as long as this shop is open. I could not be more satisfied with how well my car and my family were cared for by Barr's Auto. read more

I love this place and this mechanic!!!! He is awesome, honest and true to his word. He checks everything on your car and gives you good estimates on price and time. He is super busy and many people depend on him!! He has worked on my 2003 Chevy Tahoe with replacing the water pump which was the original part that finally gave out on an older car. Then he has did a module repair and at the time he was honest saying the part was pricey but not a lot of labor, he even shows me the price he was to pay in order to get the part, what mechanic is that honest, hardly any, that's why he is my go to person for my SUV. Now he did my oil changed and brought to my attention that my regular people I go to for oil changes aren't doing a very good job at keeping my engine clean. I will only bring my business to him. Attention to detail and honesty is hard to come by now, so I trust him with my Tahoe completely. 5 star rating. read more

I was referred to Lisandro by my mom, Everyone knows mechanics don't have a good reputation for telling clients the truth about their cars. This happened with my last mechanic. We ordered a new motor for my car that had issues, my mechanic installed it anyways. Once problems started my old mechanic continued to charge me for more and more work, instead of telling me the motor was bad. After trip after trip I had enough. My mom referred me to Lisandro and he instantly knew my motor was bad and suggested getting another motor before warranty expired. I was able to get another motor and Lisandro installed it for a great price. After he finished installation, he wanted to test drive it for a day to make sure it was ready for me! I was thrilled to know that he was double checking his work without me asking. My old mechanic would have never of offered. I had my alternator go out about a month later (new problem). Lisandro came to the rescue again and helped me with a reasonable price. Lisandro's prices are comparable to other small shops in town. What can I say about Lisandro?? First off he is the only mechanic I will ever let touch my cars, let alone fix them. He's always 100% truthful with me when it come to the diagnosing of the problem, if it's something small he doesn't over charge at all, he keeps it real. Every time I call him he's always like "O gosh, what did you break now" haha that's how often I bring my 4 vehicles to him and every time whether it's an oil change, changing my brakes or a repair he always gives the best customer service. He also has excellent referrals for other services you like if you need new tires or body work. Somebody ran into the side of our truck and I was kind of bummed Lisandro couldn't do the body work but the shop he refered me too has been doing awesome work on repairing my truck. Lisandro is an awesome guy. He has done my cv axle, output shaft seal, manual transmission fluid exchange, wheel bearing/ hub/ knuckle, and my power steering/ crank pulley. All of it was done at an extremely reasonable price. His quotes were the best in town that I found from South Sacramento, all the way down to the Arden area. He is sometimes really busy so requested I left the car with him for a couple hours, which was fine because I had classes all day, however in order to be able to drop the car off I would have had to do it an hour before he opened. He was kind enough to come in early right after he dropped off his kid to school, so that I could drop off the car. He also overlapped labor times, instead of just adding it all up to get more money like most shops do. I would definitely trust, and reccomend him to work on anyone else's car. read more

Everyone knows transmissions are pricey; new or used parts/labor together. Needless to say, I had to get mine dealt with. I called around for some estimates until I came across Barr's Auto Lisandro. He was kind enough to go through various details of troubleshooting what the problem may be other than just the transmission. As Lisandro was explaining I forgot & remembered that my tranny was under warranty with some other shop & that guy was avoiding to tend to it. On top of Lisandro calling around to get estimates on my behalf, he also informed me of the Bureau of Automotive Repair & to file a complaint along with seeing if the other transmission guy was licensed. I did & the B.A.R. was extremely helpful (believe his name was Greg). Greg walked me through the procedure & BEFORE I could file a complaint online, the other transmission guy tells me he'll fix my transmission! My point is Barr's Auto, Lisandro, was showing great customer service/skills with a consumer that haven't even done business with him yet!!!...& as you others know, it's non-existent nowadays.
