While having my windshield replaced with a complimentary oil change, Lexus of Sacramento recommended that I have a 60k mileage service done that included replacing the spark plugs and the brake fluid. Since dealership service departments tend to charge more and recommend unnecessary repair work, I trust Be (Owner) at BG Motors to do the preventative maintenance work on my Lexus (I have also referred my parent's to his shop as well). Since Be is the sole employee at BG Motors, I reached out to him to schedule an appointment (his schedule fills up quickly). Prior to my appointment, Be reached out to confirm that I wanted OEM spark plugs for my vehicle. On the day of the appointment, I dropped my vehicle off at 8am and Be informed me that it would be done by 1pm. A little past noon, Be sent a text informing me that the repairs had been completed. Upon arrival, Be walked me through the completed repairs and was very transparent about the price increase for the OEM spark plugs (which is understandable due to the circumstances that is impacting everyone= inflation). He also informed me that my vehicle's battery needed to be replaced, along with a rear driver's side tire that was beginning to split within the inner portion of the tire. Ironically, two days earlier I had a wheel alignment done at a local tire shop and there was absolutely no mention of my severely damaged tire. If you're looking for an auto repair shop that is honest, does great work, goes above and beyond, and is not on a mission to drain your bank account...I highly recommend doing business with BG Motors! read more

I brought my Tacoma in to BG motors to have the ac fixed. Initially, Be diagnosed the issue to be the compressor and recommended replacing it with a OEM unit. I gave him the green light to make the repairs and it ended up being the compressor clutch instead of the compressor itself. Be saved me a few hundred bucks, and could have easily had me spend more money replacing more things than needed. I appreciate his honesty and integrity, highly recommend this shop!! read more

BG helped me save a lot of money! I called him about my civic ac and how it was not working and how Elk Grove Honda told me I just needed to buy a new car. I called BG to get a second opinion and he told me about a few service bulletins from Honda stating the ac will be repairs under extended warranty. I printed the bulletins and took my car to capital city Honda where they asked no questions and fixed the ac the day of. I was so grateful BG was honest and helped me out, he could have easily told me the same as Elk Grove Honda but he didn't. If you happen to own a Honda, Acura, Toyota, or Lexus, then you're in luck! If not, well you can always keep reading just in case! Anyhow, this hidden gem of an automotive repair shop would have to be one of the most reputable and trustworthy mechanics I've ever met. The only reason I found out about this place is because it was about a block away from the office I worked at from 2009-13. Located on Power Inn Road (roughly one mile south of Highway 50), "BG Motors" can be a little tricky to find. Simply because its tucked deep into the parking lot with other industrial businesses. The easiest advice and recommendation is if you're going south on Power Inn Rd., turn left where you see the "Napa Auto Parts" store. And keep going until you eventually find Suite G. Or you could always call which might simplify everything. Do keep in mind, this place is a one-man show. Independently owned and operated by Be Huynh who pretty much does everything including answering the phones, taking appointments, and repairing your vehicle. Since both my lady and I drive Honda vehicles, he has done many repair jobs to get our automobiles up and running in tip top condition. On our most recent visit (on 10/4/17), my lady noticed that her breaks were squealing on her Honda Accord. She dropped her car off after work. Be called us up less than a half hour later! He told us that her vehicle needed front left and right brake pads as well as left and right brake rotors. After getting quotes from other mechanics as well as the Honda dealer, we were given prices anywhere from $350 up to $470. However, Be was able to get us all the new parts with labor and tax for $250! Best of all, Be called us the very next day (on 10/5/17) and her vehicle was ready by noon! We also asked him if he could check the passenger side wiper blade since it was not moving. He was able to tighten up the bolt at no charge! To me, this level of customer service far exceeded our expectations. Do keep in mind that he has very limited hours (Mon-Fri from 8-5) so make sure you're able to drop your vehicle off around his schedule. So to everyone out there that is looking for an honest, hard-working mechanic that will not charge you an inflated price to have your vehicle repaired, definitely give "BG Motors" a try. I am not quite sure if he works on other Japanese models (such as Nissan, Mazda, or Subaru) but give him a call and see what he says. My rating, a unanimous five stars. read more

Be is a friendly detail oriented guy, and his shop is crowded but extremely well organized. I had a misfire and Be changed my coils and recommended a water pump and coolant service. Be showed me the water pump he took out and it was in fact a little wobbly and showed signs of leakage. He's been taking care of my disabled sister's car remotely for many years and as I live on the other side of the country it's important to find a reliable technician. They say it never hurts to have these trusted people in your arsenal: a doctor, a lawyer, a contractor, and a mechanic. My husband's family has been going to Be for years now. I can confidently say that we trust Be with our vehicles more than any other mechanics. He services mostly Hondas and Toyotas, which works out, since we have both. Whenever either of our cars has any problem at all, he's the first person we call. Recently, my father's 4Runner wasn't starting up and was stuck in the middle of our garage. Be isn't a mobile mechanic, but when I called, he was more than willing to provide advice via text and calling. He told me what he'd charge for the problem that I told him about, so I was able to use that in case the mobile mechanic felt like charging up the butt. Luckily, it became an easier fix (just a matter of me changing out the battery) so we didn't have to have it serviced. But the fact that Be was willing to talk to me about the problem and make some suggestions was infinitely more helpful because I had no clue what I was doing. I was looking for someone to replace my starter engine for a good price without ripping me off. I called several places including BG Motors to compare prices, and came to a conclusion that BG Motors was the most reasonable priced and trustworthy. When I came to his shop, he stated he ordered me the best starter engine brand. While repairing my car, he would show me the damaged parts and educated me what was wrong with the parts. This showed me trustworthiness and honesty of his work. After he did his magic in fixing my car, my engine ran like it was brand new again. The second time I came here was for my brake pads and resurfacing of my rotors. When I came, Be looked at my rotors and stated I needed new ones, so he had to ordered me one right away. What was nice about this is that he can order parts and get them right away if ordered before 11am. How convenient! Again, when repairing my brakes and rotors, he showed me the damaged parts and educated me what was wrong with the parts. I had been told by the dealership that I needed to change my front brake pads soon and they had only 4mm left, sensor touching rotors, etc...So, I got a feeling something was little fishy. Bought the pads, called BE and got a good quote to do the front brakes. Then, after dropping off my car got a call from BE telling me my brakes were at 50%!!! No need to change. Best spot in Sac for Asian cars. The owner is the master mechanic there, his name is Be. It's a one garage shop. They can only hold one car at a time, so it's by appointment, one-in one-out. I took my 2003 Civic there. Clutch shudder, oil leak, and error code. I told him I was trying to sell it, so I didn't want any big part replacements. He offered to buy it if it required big parts instead of me paying for repairs. But he checked it out, and said the clutch and engine were fine, the leak was too small to worry about fixing, and he fiddled with the seat belt buckle to clear the error code. No charge. Full inspection and cleared the error code for $0. I offered to pay him something. He said he only charges if he fixes something. I wouldn't take an Asian built car anywhere else in Sac. read more

What a hidden gem this place is! Honest, reliable, affordable - doesn't get better than this. I brought my lexus here for a new timing belt and water pump. He gave me a quote over the phone for hundreds less than Quality or Econolube. And he even met me in the morning before opening since I had to drop my car off early. He kept me updated with the progress throughout the day as well. When we picked up the car, he went over everything he did and found. I don't know of any other place that would take the time to do that. My husband was especially appreciative of this. He only used brand name parts and showed us everything he put in and replaced. He has great customer service, ASE certified, knowledgeable, is very proud in his brand, and will work with the customer. I own a 2006 Toyota Tacoma. I was referred to BG motors from a friend. I previously went to the toyota dealership and they said I had a starter problem. But I questioned the diagnosis of the car. The car was too new to have a starter problem. So I took my car to BG Motors to have a second a opinion. The mechanic took my starter apart and verified that the starter was not the problem and that the part was still in great condition. It turns out that all I needed was a new battery. He did not charge me for the simple solution. I appreciated the fact that he did not try to sell me on something that was not necessary for my car. A couple months later I returned to BG motors because of the trusting relationship that was established from the prior car troubles. I needed a 90,000 mile tune up. I thought I needed a water pump and timing belt in addition to the general maintenance. But the mechanic only advised the 90,000 tune up and that my car does not have a timing belt, but rather a timing chain. And that I did not need to replace only the timing chain. I highly recommend this mechanic because he only recommended what was needed. I noticed a trend with other mechanic shops; they try to up charge and recommend only new parts. The mechanic took the time to asses my car and gave a true diagnosis of the problems. I feel that it is rare to find such a business where the interest lies within the customer rather than the money. BG motors will now be my primary mechanic for all car troubles. I hope this review will help others in a fashion where they are not ripped and can feel at ease with any car troubles. read more

My 2009 Toyota has hit 200k - Yes, 200k miles! I put on average of 40k miles a year on the car and it needs constant maintenance. I always take it here to "Be" - he's honest, respectful, and very knowledgeable. Not to mention very reasonably priced. Absolutely love this guy. Went here based off reviews and he specializes in Toyota, that helps since I have a 4Runner. The shop is a bit hard to find, but well worth the hunt. Took my truck here to get the check engine light checked, he said it would be $80, and if any repairs would be serviced, the 80 would go towards that. Since my truck has a cracked head, basically the engine is shit, he only charged me 60 for the diagnostic. He was honest, upfront and called when he said he would. Finding an HONEST mechanic is like finding a gold needle in a haystack. Not only is Be a master at his craft, he's HONEST. I had him change the timing belt on my 2004 Lexus yesterday, and he changed out EVERYTHING that moves in that area for half the price the dealer wanted. The dealer only priced changing the belt, water pump, and gaskets. They'll typically a call you later in the day to notify of "other" discoveries needing replacement, and of course, you're gonna blindly say from your desk at work: "yes, go ahead and change it".... while feeling that stabbing pain in your wallet. The items Be changed are genuine Toyota parts, and he doesn't mark up his discounted prices either. I pre-checked the parts prices with local shops and the dealer, and his prices had to reflect some kind of discount. His prices were lower. Be showed me the old parts and the packing boxes my new parts came in. They were genuine Toyota. I noticed by the door of his shop there was a newly delivered shipment of boxes containing OEM marked parts for other cars lined up to be worked on. Being a weekend shade tree mechanic myself, I know that changing a timing belt is extremely complicated. I think heart bypass surgery might be easier. You want the best surgeon doing this job, not one of the jack-of-all-trades shops, no disrespect to their mechanics. There are so many parts and pieces that need to be removed just to get to that belt. And then when replacing, things have to go back in exactly as they came out, including each nut, bolt, washer, pin, position of the cam, pulleys, seals, cam and crankshaft lined up with timing markers, not to mention the plethora of brackets, mounts, hoses, wires, vacuum lines, alternator, etc., needing removal just to get to that belt. Every piece has a unique way of being removed and repositioned. Some have to be pried out, some pressed out, some require WD-40 and a breaker bar, etc.; all without damaging sensitive adjacent parts. You want someone with stellar organizational skills, an elephant memory, and intimate knowledge of what he's doing. No mistakes can be allowed. This is definitely a specialty trade you don't want "any" mechanic doing. Since I baby my cars, I asked Be a ton of annoying questions just to test his knowledge and legitimacy, being this is my first visit. Be answered everything correctly, with utmost patience, enthusiasm, and even showed me the tools and parts he keeps and uses around his shop. Most shops will kick out Nosey-Bobs like me for "insurance liability" or "safety" reasons. Understandable, but still....how do you know if you can trust the guy without risking mucho denero? Be's shop was also clean and well organized, an indication of good work habits. If he keeps his workplace meticulous like that, you can expect he'll be the same working on your car. Not only is Be honest, he's extremely knowledgeable, has a great attitude, and his prices make you almost feel guilty. He'll have my loyalty and squawk box, long as I own Toyotas and Hondas. Lots of good mechanics out there. Be is in the "elite" class. He looks pretty young, but them Asians are deceptive, they always look younger than they are, haha!
