Keep an eye on All Crumbs Bakery's Facebook page and website. They take online orders up until midnight Thursday for Saturday pickup, and their bread is truly incredible. It's actually a bit puzzling how good it all is. Every single thing I've tried, from their chocolate filled croissants, to their burger buns... everything they produce is perfect. It's like some sort of culinary witchcraft. In some cases, it ends up being the highlight of whatever meal the bread is paired with. The textures and flavors they produce are outstanding and surprisingly memorable. Wonderfully outstanding bread is a THING in Toledo. Grab a loaf (or roll) as soon as you can! We also got a half dozen of bagels (asiago, cheddar jalepeno, everything, poppy, & sesame) as well as a veggie cream cheese. I love that the veggie cream cheese has true carrots, broccoli, and other vegetables in it. It really adds a great flavor! We have been enjoying our bagels for 3 days after being purchased and they are just as fresh!

Myself and the Mrs have been checking out the downtown coffee scene, and so far, Sweet Nate's is our favorite. Located in the Oliver House, the look and feel of this place is outstanding. I've always had a thing for mid-century aesthetics, and Nate's has some. Their music comes primarily from a collection of vinyl records. Thumb through the 450 to 500, or so, albums, find one, take it to the barista, and they'll play it for you. Cool. By no means am I a coffee connoisseur, but I really liked their product. I ordered the "marriage latte", and my wife got a blueberry Italian soda. Both were excellent. Unlike some of the other coffee places that are located more centrally places in downtown Toledo, you'll have to walk a little ways to get to Sweet Nate's. It's worth the walk. 5 stars!

I have become increasingly tired of Starbucks, but less so of other chain coffeehouses. That said, I always seek out the independent coffeehouses. Mostly, I was sold on the name (Rustbelt) of this coffeehouse in Downtown Toledo, just a few blocks from the small cluster of downtown mid-rises. Inside, it has the open floor plan with exposed ceilings up above, which works very well here and fits the industrial Rust Belt mood. The seating options were to my liking: big butcher block type tables meant to be shared, smaller tables, and upholstered seating with coffee tables. I wish I could have stayed at Rustbelt longer. It was a warm and humid summer day and I had an iced tea and a pastry. The items were tasty. The pricing was fair and the service was unremarkable, but did lean toward being good natured. Parking is available right in front along the street, should you want to keep an eye on your car. That said, I couldn't get a read on the location ... it seemed that there were other eateries and bars nearby, so maybe that meant it was okay. Also, I couldn't figure out where the customer base came from. Usually, bohemian coffeehouses have bohemian enclaves nearby where the bohemian people live. I didn't see any, or maybe I didn't look long enough. I couldn't imagine them being suburbanites. Lastly, I believe I've always seen Rust Belt spelled as two words. If they want to stylize this and go with one word, that's their prerogative.
