Sunrise Skillet has become one of my favorite go to breakfast restaurants. My pictures may not do them any justice (on my part) but that's okay, because I'll definitely be back again! The food consistently is delicious, hot, plentiful, and made correct to order. I've also tried their French toast which has become a must have every time I go. I appreciate a restaurant that makes fresh eggs and has a great measure of cheese to eggs ratio, and SS has got it down! The Denver omelette was great (and I'm not really an omelette person but now I'm considering trying more). The hash browns were so crispy and cooked well. I received positive feedback on their gyro. The restaurant always has such positive energy. I love going to SS because everyone is so friendly, the service is always fast and professional, and it's a very clean restaurant. I ordered a spinach and bacon omelette and the egg was over cooked, the bacon was brunt black. There was no salt and pepper add to the has brown, very bland. You couldn't specify how you wanted your eggs cooked. The toast was the best part of the entire meal! My daughter ordered 2eggs choice of meat and toast. Also an ordered of hash browns. Welcome to 2023. Toledo finally has a few places that have brunch. Brunch for me has to include some brunchy drinks like mimosas or bloody marys. So this location now has brunch with mimosas or bloody marys. Reasonably priced. Brunch with drinks for two is under 40 bucks. If there's a wait it's never more than maybe 15 to 20 minutes. Stopped in for a late Friday brunch. I ordered the "Sunrise Special," 2 eggs with potatoes, meat, and toast. My wife had the same minus meat. With that of course with that we had coffee, which, according to a message stenciled on the front window, is "Made for the city that loves to drink it." And it actually is very good for diner coffee. I can think of well-known coffeehouses whose brew doesn't match it. The rest of the meal was fair. The eggs seemed a little bland and, despite being cooked to an appropriate "over easy" standard, watery. The bacon was not too savory or smoky but quite fatty. I tore off some large hunks of fat and left them on the plate. However, the hash browns I ordered extra crispy came that way and were good. Toast slices were thick, though not tough. My wife's opinion about her meal was roughly the same. We didn't leave hungry at least. Perhaps because it was late in the morning, there were scattered bits of food on the floor which stayed there during our visit. But table service was very good. Overall I'd say this was a 3 star experience, but for the good coffee, I'll bump them to 4. read more

We arrived close to 10 AM on 12/6/2025. We had stopped for the night previous, and were looking for breakfast before we continued on our trip. We were seated right away and Ashley soon took our order. The food arrived quickly and correctly. Ashley checked on us a few times while we ate. Our food was hot and delicious. It has been 5 years since we last came here for breakfast. I think it is just as good or better than the last. Wife got scrambled eggs, toast and fruit bowl. The fruit bowl was the best we have had all summer. I had the Eggs Benedict with sausage gravy and sausage and poached eggs. That was really good and a lot of hash browns with it. There are a combination of booths and tables. Service - very good. Our server was very pleasant and attentive. Food - very good. I ordered a western omelet with hash browns and sourdough toast. The omelet was decent in size and tasted good. The hash browns could have been a little hotter, but tasted good. The toasted bread tasted more like Texas toast than sourdough. Overall - very good. I love diner type restaurants and while passing through the area, we found this gem. At 9 am on a Sunday, it was hopping and we were lucky enough to snare a booth. The employees are all super friendly and efficient. We got our coffee in minutes and had time to peruse the extensive menu. They have a variety of omelets, pancakes, etc., so you can surely find something. I settled on the peanut butter waffle, although the eggs Benedict was my close second choice. I also ordered a side of bacon. The waffle arrived hot and eye appealing. The side of bacon was 4 slices, which is ample. I could smell the peanut butter as soon as she sat it down and couldn't wait to dig in. There was a side of butter and syrup, which only added to the yumminess of this waffle. I loved it and could only eat 3 sections as it was filling. I would definitely order it again. Service was amazing throughout our entire meal, and the restaurant is clean and run efficiently. We always love the opportunity to check out the local fare. So far, the metro Toledo area has been fantastic for that. This place is known for fast and friendly service. Check and Check. The food was served hot with above average flavour. They've spaced the tables out in such a way as to encourage social distancing, yet occupy a large number of people. A sincere attempt to be safe. Plus, it's still warm enough in Toledo (IMHO) to take advantage of the tables outside. Of course, we did. The employees are exemplary. You can always tell a skilled, well polished server. When you do be sure to tip them well. Jennifer is the case at Sunrise Skillet. Order taken and carried out perfectly, glasses filled, coffee flowing and many check-ins. She was so friendly, we almost drew up a chair and had her join our breakfast club. Portions are large and a tremendous value for the money. Say no more. Their Traditional Benny, made with Canadian bacon, poached eggs and hollandaise sauce was near perfect. 5 stars on that alone. Two folks in our party attacked some of the best Biscuits & Gravy I've tasted. Naturally, cousin Aaron ate the steak and eggs for $10.00. He's really impressed so I know what I'm getting next time. We each have requested the same Breakfast Skillet of Cajun with lots of jalapeños. They don't have fresh those but not a deal breaker. And added a plain waffle. All was pretty good. Oh my goodness. We saw a concert in Wauseon and we're on our way back to Akron. Stopped here for breakfast because it wasn't far off the highway and menu looked appealing. Such a cute spot! Ashley was our server and she was so bubbly and friendly but also right on it. Our food came out super fast and was spot on. Well done bacon and hash browns were actually well done. They have a great selection for their menu and fair prices. I didn't snag updated menu pics but the prices have gone up just a hair from what was on the current menu pictures. More good options tho! I noticed chicken and waffles was an option. I had the herb and goat cheese omelet and man was it GOOD. My husband had the Rueben and liked it very much. I had a great experience in January 2023. The service was stellar, food served hot and fresh. My Monte Carlo breakfast was wonderful and gives me an idea to try it at home. Eggs, bread and meat, what's not to love. Another great location to know about during road trips! I especially like the fact that they let you know up front about the credit card surcharge - sucks that a business has to do it, but it's understandable. Not a deal breaker for me. Another boring five star review? Yep, 'fraid so. Sunrise Skillet has consistently delivered great food, and great service ever since I've been coming here. The chicken fried steak is scary good. I say "scary" good, because I had it for breakfast one day, loved it, and I found myself thinking about it for the next two days. I can only assume that the persistent infiltration of my thoughts was a consequence of some surreptitious mind control scheme. Either that, or the chicken fried steak was just really damned good. Generally, but not always, I try to limit my carb consumption. Today, I had the (homemade batter) pumpkin waffle...yeah, I like pumpkin flavored shit in the fall...and it was great. It came topped with real whipped cream and homemade spiced apple cider syrup (the fresh apple cider came courtesy of MacQueen's orchard). I'm quite sure I'll be obsessing about this creation for another day or so...more mind control I think. Word of warning: Project MKUltra had nothing on Sunrise Skillet. For breakfast I usually get omelettes cuz I'm the kind of guy that usually gets omelettes for breakfast. The omelettes at SS are pretty average, but that's not a reason to knock off stars. Any omelette on the menu would make a solid choice. The service is great. Period. SS gets busy, but even when busy, the kitchen staff and the waitresses do a great job of getting food into your belly. The service is fast, friendly, and accurate. Recently I read an article in the LA Times, and it seems that the rest of the country may finally be learning what we Toledoans have known since the 80s: Being located in a strip-mall does not necessarily confer mediocrity to a restaurant. Had breakfast here one morning - based on the Yelp reviews. I had read the review by Mike S. So I asked for "real coffee cream." My server was confused and had no idea what I was talking about. She checked and said the only thing the kitchen could offer was "heavy cream." I'm not sure if this is what Mike S. received. I was assuming he meant real Half n' Half - out of a carton - not the tiny, room temperature creamer packages. Oh well, I will probably never know.
