I had some friends treat us with some bagels while passing through the area. Same day, we had some Eggel Breakfast Sandwiches. I like that one can pick the bagel flavor, cheese or cream cheese type, meat type and if it should be toasted. They got three different types of Eggel sandwiches. I tried the Sesame Bagel with egg, cheddar cheese, and bacon. It had good flavor but could have used a sauce and to be toasted. We also got a half dozen of bagels (asiago, cheddar jalepeno, everything, poppy, & sesame) as well as a veggie cream cheese. I love that the veggie cream cheese has true carrots, broccoli, and other vegetables in it. It really adds a great flavor! For a Michigander without a ton of good bagel places to go to, Barry's hit the spot. I got the Farmer egg sandwich on an onion bagel with pepper jack cheese. The quality of the ingredients was great, so much so, that I'm disappointed I don't have a Barry's where I'm from. Would recommend for a quick breaky stop. read more

I have been eating Barry's my entire life, and while I certainly miss the old school Westgate location with the wood paneling and early 80's vibes, I've accepted that, as the food remains predictable, over the years the brand has lost its soul. But soul aside, man alive, this Sylvania location is DIRTY. From the doors in the bathrooms with years of grimy buildup on the edges of surfaces, to the absolutely filthy tables and prep area, it's like this particular place has been completely abandoned by management. Filth aside, the atmosphere is hilariously bad. Think suburban, strip mall dentist office from the late 90's, with no nod to the brand's history, or even the food it serves. Just some crappy senior portraits on the wall, bad furniture, and again... grime everywhere. We'll be back for sure, but not to this odd, forgotten location. Truly a strange and unpleasant retail experience. read more

I typically love Barry's. The last time i went they gave me a pickle which i asked for none (i have a phobia weird i know) i took a 6 month break and tried again today. Told the girl who wrote down my order TWICE about no pickles and my phobia. Her and the coworkers were gabbing over their plans for the night (which i was fine with) but when i got home my order had a pickle. Soaked the whole sandwich. So disappointed and should've had my order there so i could've had my sandwich remade. Make sure you double check your orders & if the workers are chatting make sure you make your needs known in between because they are more focused on anything than your order. :( read more

Went around 9am, and had a horrible experience. Everyone seemed irritated with each other and customers. When trying to order I was repeatedly interrupted, and the lady continued to talk to me as if I was stupid. It was not an enjoyable experience and will not be back. The atmosphere was not welcoming whatsoever. My hash brown was also not very good, but my egg, cheese, and meat were good. Place is dirty compared to all other locations. Staff is unorganized and shared snarky comments to each other, moseying around, 3 different people told us they'd be with us. The food is great (other than the new hash browns) as usual though I don't come to this location. Don't really plan on coming back. Would advise anyone else to go to other locations. Oh and the owners rude remark to another review showing how dirty it is. You should care more about your stores cleanliness than telling someone not to come back. Was in town visiting back in May, 2023. First time here. The associate explained how things worked. Got 3 blueberry bagels with LOX. They did not have salmon schmear but tried their house made one and it was delicious. Great atmosphere, not rushing me at all, and excellent location. Bagels were hot, fresh and amazing! The only down fall is how clean the tables and especially the bathrooms were. I was actually shocked at how grimy the bathroom were. So I was looking for a really good bagel and tried this on a recommendation. First off There was 5 people deep in line and sense of urgency to serve customers was non existent. And if you wonder why 3 stars I give them a lot of credit for the beat pumpernickel bagel I have ever eaten. Not doing anything special for Covid, one hand sanitizing station and limited plexiglass barriers. Self Serve soda station dirty with lids stored in rusty unwashed holder. Unmasked guests without gloves serving themselves to self-serve soda. Outside tables uninviting and no notice of procedures being used to protect guests. Food is great as usual. I love Barry's food. The chicken salad is one of the best in the city. The service is always great even when they are busy.

Employees weren't unkind but looked miserable to be there (all 6 of them). The bathroom was filthy- the door looked like it had never been wiped down above and below the handle, the light switch was filthy, and there was black mold below the hand dryer all along the baseboard, the toilet, and up the wall. The drink station counter hadn't been wiped in a long time, and the backsplash looked like it hadn't been wiped in days. The coffee was lukewarm, and my salad came out warm from a refrigerator case that was apparently off or not working. When I mixed the salad up, I found that about 5% of the leaves buried at the bottom were yellow. This used to be a favorite spot, but I don't think we'll be back. read more

HECK YEAH, Barry's Bagles. YES PLEASE. Let me just start by saying, most delicious strawberry cream cheese on the market, hands down. So freaking good, i want to put it on everything i eat. They also offer amazing, fresh, high quality, properly cooked roast beef and corned beef by the pound. Beautiful. They have an excellent selection of bagels, all of which are perfectly delicious. They have a stellar selection of fresh in-house made cookies, all of which are also RIDICULOUSLY delicious. I've never had anything here that wasn't outright fantastic... and they will make anything for you, all you have to do is ask. They are very accommodating and friendly at the counter. There is often a line, but it moves quickly. Definitely in my top 10 favorite Toledo/Sylvannia food spots. read more

A Toledo favorite! I used to have Barry Bagels all the time when I was a kid, growing up in Northwest Ohio. Their bagels are always made fresh and are delicious. I love the variety of cream cheese that they offer. But whenever I'm craving a bagel sandwich, this is the place to go. A classic honey roasted turkey sandwich on an everything bagel with lettuce, tomato, mustard, and cheese. The perfect lunchtime meal! Their soups are phenomenal as well. And some of the best parties I've been to have Barry Bagels trays of lunch meats, cheeses, pickles, and bagels. Friendly service and just an all-around great place to eat. read more

Their service is ALWAYS top-notch and the food is super fresh. A baker's dozen never makes it home without one being eaten on the way. Plain or with Everything, they're always delicious. Breakfast at Barry Bagels is one of the perks of visiting family in Sylvania. I BB'ed it two mornings in a row. You don't really need to know anything else except this: Order the spinach and feta bagel, toasted, with the vegetable ranch cream cheese. There's a reason the vegetable ranch cream cheese tub is twice the size of any of the other cream cheese tubs. Don't mess around with anything other than the veggie ranch cream cheese. You'll thank me. Oh, and if you're looking for a more lunch-y option (though, there isn't any reason you can't have a bagel with cream cheese AND a bagel sandwich), their lox is pretty good. My mom and I come here pretty often after work, we love the bagels and potato salad! On 3/4/20 the night staff was wonderful. My mom and I accidentally stayed in the dining room past close (we thought closing was at 7:30). 7:15 rolled around and we realized we'd lost track of time and the restaurant was empty, so we asked one of the workers when closing was and we were so embarrassed that we'd stayed past! But the kids working were so sweet about it and just let us do our thing. So this is both an appraisal and an apology - especially an apology! Love, love, love these bagels. My aunt would bring then when she would visit us in Cleveland, at the height of bagel-mania in the late 80's-early 90's. They had flavors at the time that were very unusual and we all loved them, like asiago cheese! She would bring so many for our large family that we sometimes didn't get through them all while they were still fresh. My ingenious older sister would slice them super thinly and bake them off to make homemade bagel chips-LOL, Barry's made us one trendy household!
