What a scam. I went in for a respiratory infection and he said go home and you'll feel better in a few days. If it gets worse, he said schedule a follow up. Ok, it got worse and i went back for a follow up and the secretary I had to pay another co-pay, and will be charged the full expense! WTF, you gave me a wrong diagnosis, ask me to come back and want to charge me again... feels like this incentive-vises one to give bad advice the first time around so i would have to come back and he would charge again. I left and went to another dr. who said i had an infection and got antibiotics which cured in a few days later. This guy and his bad attitude secretary is a scam if you have an illness. Maybe he is better for surgery, but with this kind of mentality, i would chose someone else. read more

Dr. Baron is a capable and experienced ENT. Unfortunately his support staff is not as accomodating as Dr. Baron. I was in an snowmobile accident that injured my nose. Dr. Baron did a fantastic job on the Surgery which left my nost straighter than it had actually been before and I am able to breath so much better! Here where things go a bit awry: I got a call from his collections agency saying that I owe $74.00.....i called the office and spoke to his secratary who informed that both office workers had left me multiple voice mails at my work phone number. THis was completeley bogus!!! I never recieved a single call. I called them up and paid what I had to. My experience with the Doctor was great. The experience with his supporst staff was sub-par. read more

I had a very positive experience with Dr. Baron himself, and his receptionist was fine the day I was seen. However, a few days later, she was less than helpful when I called back, as he told me to, in order to request a prescription for the medicine he'd given me a sample of (to see if it worked for me). I asked if she would call in the prescription to my pharmacy, but was told in a certain tone of voice that I needed to ask the pharmacy to call her. This has not been my experience with other doctors' receptionists/front office staff, and her prima donna attitude didn't sit well with me...or my pharmacy. From the other reviews I've read online here, it would seem Dr. Baron should consider employing someone who might represent him better and more consistently in a friendly and professional manner to his patients or patients-to-be. read more

Dr. Baron needs to fire his receptionist if he cares about his reputation. I was taken to an ER with a blunt ear trauma, that involved an ear hematoma. These hematomas must be treated within 7 days, after which it becomes too late and the ear cartilage begins to die. After the treatment in the ER, I discovered a remaning hematoma, and started looking for an otolaryngologist. I called dr. Baron's receptionist voicemail every 15 min from 11am to 4pm on a Thursday, leaving messages for her, and finally reached her at 4pm. She told me it was already too late to see him today, he is booked Friday, Monday is a holiday, possibly next week, and that I should have called earlier in the day(!). I asked if I could briefly talk to dr. Baron on the phone, to see if this visit makes sense next week, since I read that after 7 days it's too late. She rudely interjected, that since I was not his existing patient, I cannot talk to him, power tripping to teach me a lesson with a capricious tone, like to a bad student. "You are not our existing patient, you cannot talk to him period!". There was not a note of an apology, or desire to work with me, just a power trip! I was prepared to pay dr. Baron a significant amount of money. When you hire any professional, a an attorney, anybody, it's just reasonable that you get a chance to talk to them for 5 min on the phone, to determine if they can help you. Not with dr. Unbelievable!! The very WORST experience in a Dr.'s office I have ever had. The receptionist's rudeness was the introduction to this orifice of hell. Before I had seen the dr. she barged into the room and threw the file on the counter and said, "you don't have insurance, I checked with your primary care and she agrees..you'll have to either pay up front or leave, we're very busy". I had a killer ear infection that had been with me for 4 days and over new year's eve..and it was Jan 3rd before I could get a referral to Dr. Baron..well, I called my insurance carrier on my cell..some kind of screw up, no doubt..and it took a while to get through..finally I got someone on the line who confirmed I did have insurance, it was just that the ins. company's records hadn't been updated yet due to the new year. I handed the phone to her and she said she was too busy to talk right then..and went and answered another call..when she came back the ins. person was off line... then the dr. comes in and says I will need to pay him (he does not take credit cards..I would need either cash or check) or leave, that the problem was between me and my insurance co.! I am sitting there in pain and in need of medical care and being treated very badly. I tried to call the ins. co back but was put on hold. The receptionist came back in and said, with a snarl, that I would have to leave, they needed the room. I complained to the dr. about his receptionist's attitude and he stood up for her, saying she had worked for him 27 yrs with no problems and implying I was the one that was being unreasonable.. oh boy! I walked out of there..and straight to an ER..where I was immediately given antibiotics and a lancing to the ear... What an ugly experience! To make it worse, when I called my primary care doctor's receptionist to tell them what happened, SHE chided me and said, "You, sir, have something wrong with you...she (dr. baron's receptionist) said you threatened her and they kicked you out of the office" .....which never happened, of course... Now it's not only Baron's office but my primary care's office trying to tear me a new one... wonder what kind of nasty lies will be inserted into my records..or shadow files? Amazing office staff and Amazing doctor. He has responded very quickly to my phone calls on his day off as well as during his International vacation to Paris. He has a very comforting manner about him, making people feel at ease in difficult situations. You really can't get much better than that in service. read more

Dr. Baron has been my doctor for over 20 years. He came highly recommended by a dear friend whom I trust. Both he and his staff have been amazingly accommodating to both me and my husband. Recently I was experiencing severe hearing loss and when I called to make my appointment I was greeted warmly by his assistant. She quickly booked me an appointment for the next day. I was a little nervous about having my ear drums punctured but Dr. Baron quickly put my mind at ease. Now I can hear again! Many thanks to both Dr. Baron and his fantastic staff! read more

Didn't like Dr. Baron and didn't find the receptionist to be very friendly. When I went for my app't, Dr. Baron told me to come back in a week so he could see if there was any change. When I called back in a week, the receptionist said he was out on a long vacation. Why didn't he tell me that during the appointment?!? office visit - march 13th. doctor #4 of 6 condition: violent cough for 1.5 months. severe rib pain. in making the appointment, i was told that dr. baron wouldn't be available until two weeks from that day. i told the receptionist that i've seen two doctors, and that i was in the ER the previous day. ...suddenly, i was able to see dr. baron the next day. ... why must i be on my deathbed in order to receive proper attention for my condition? shouldn't i be seen when symptoms begin to develop, in order to PREVENT them from getting worse? ... (i agree w/randy. dr. baron's receptionist isn't quite the poster child for the healthcare welcome wagon.) dr. baron spent a few minutes w/me - - did some ear, nose, and throat inspections... prescribed me antibiotics, thinking that they MAY help. suggested that i buy some mucinexDM as well. ...couldn't offer anything w/regards to a definite diagnosis of my condition. two stars for taking a guess that the antibiotics might help. Dr. Baron did surgery on me for sleep apnea back in 2006. I've not had a problem with snoring since! I've noticed a number of the Yelp reviews ding his office staff and are critical of his "bedside manner". My personal experience was not remotely like those comments. Dr. Baron was business-like and professional. He is a specialist, meaning when you come to him it is to get treatment for a specific problem. No hand-holding necessary! Highly recommended! read more

I think Dr. Baron is fine... only saw him once, so not sure about long term. Receptionist.... the worse front office person he could have. Rough, uncaring and thinks she is better than you or anyone else. Her treatment of people is horrible and she does not follow through on what the Dr. tells her to do in relation to scheduling a procedure and paperwork to the insurance. It has been at least 2 weeks and I am still waiting even though my insurance already approved the test and called their office!! Had an obstruction in my ear canal. Made an appointment. Was able to be seen the following Monday. Dr Baron was quick and professional. I was very happy with him. I will go back for routine cleanings. I was doubtful at first as I was sitting in the waiting room reading the reviews on here about his staff but they were ok. I began to suffer from hoarsness in 2005; was referred to Dr. Baron from my PCP. After a thorough examination, it was discovered that I had a cyst on my right vocal cord. Dr. Baron immediately scheduled an a surgical appointment to remove the cyst. Suffice it to say that the procedure went according to plan. I followed the doctor's post-surgery instructions to the letter, and five years later my voice is as strong as ever and I am able to sing again; something I've enjoyed doing since childhood. I don't remember any rudeness; condescending attitiude or anything of the sort during my association with this medical staff. During that time, Dr. Baron treated members of the SF Orchestra....he must be doing something right. Judge for yourself. read more

Dr Baron needs new help at the front desk. On the phone, I found the receptionist short and rather rude - as if I had done something by simply calling for an appointment. She interrupted me before I could finish asking my question, showing she did not understand my situation. She failed to book a follow up appointment for me despite my request. Dr Baron himself seemed knowledgeable, however, my suggestion would be to be more patient and listen more. I felt rushed and never got to give my full accounting of my ear trouble before being rushed out the door. For being the only patient there, I was confused as to what the rush was or why the receptionist seemed short tempered. When you are paying hundreds of dollars for services, you expect kind friendly service. Again, this is more criticism for Dr Baron's front desk than for himself. read more

I booked an appointment online giving all the details of my insurance and much more, took time off work, received texts and emails from them confirming and reconfirming my appointment. They had my insurance details but nothing during the booking process or the website reveals but they do not take insurance that was booked through Covered California or Obamacare They only tell you this when you stand there like a fool at their reception. read more

Horrendous service and a complete scam. I was charged $240 for what might have been a 10 minute visit. The receptionist wanted payment before I could see the doctor. Then I receive a invoice saying I owe $180. I call them but they can't explain to me why I am being sent this invoice? Don't subject your health to such untrustworthy money hungry individuals, and I'm confident you can get better service in a 3rd world country. read more

I had a problem with my throat for over a year and went to see him. He recommended something and it cleared up right away. I also had problems breathing all my life - had surgery with another doctor - problem lessened but still had problem. Dr. Baron performed surgery. Now I can breathe easily. I have taken other people to see him and he diagnoses problem and recommends solutions. His support staff was very nice and we were able to get in right away. I had ear pain for one week he took two minutes to do the exam and said it is not infection and recommeded me to take sudafed and that was it...if it doesnt go away in one week i should go back there pay another 180 ...not joking ha! he didn't even care of what I was telling him. Dr. Baron is the best ENT doctor in San Francisco. His staff is outstanding. They almost always pick up the phone to take your call or call you back within 15 minutes. I have spoken to many other doctors in San Francisco and even they recommend him as being the best. When it came time for my two year old son to have ear surgery I trusted Dr. Baron. Dr. Baron does not keep you waiting. He is almost always on time. If you need a good ENT he is your guy ! read more

Don't go see Dr. Baron. The receptionist(s) are not friendly, not available and cannot handle billing. He didn't do anything for me. So, he made 100s of dollars just from seeing me for a minute or two and leaves me dealing with their broken billing system and poor receptionists. read more

This guy is neither a good diagnostician or surgeon. He is condescending in his approach, not thorough in his exam, and seems more interested in making another $6K+ for one of his unnecessary 20 minute surgeries than anything else. He is more market concious than patient concious as the expensive tribute posters in his waiting room will attest. Good doctors don't need the self-indulged hype because word-of-mouth is sufficient for developing their practices and instilling paitent confidence. read more

Dr. Baron AND his staff were awful. His nurse seems to also serve as the receptionist but either way, she is impatient, rude, condescending and completely unhelpful. Dr. Baron is no better with respect to how he treats his patients, and while I'm sure he's knowledgeable, he demonstrates a complete disinterest in understanding the patient's problem and trying to help. In my case, I was experiencing vertigo for a few weeks. Dr. Baron said it was viral and that it would go away, which is fine, but he hadn't even checked my medical history and became quite agitated when I told him I was immunosurpressed, had cancer and was a diabetic, telling me I should have mentioned it earlier. I'm unclear about why I would fill out all the forms and answer the questions if he isn't even going to take the time to look at the answers. In any case, the vertigo was NOT viral. To make things worse, Dr. Baron doesn't take insurance AND worse than that, he was paid by my insurance company when I submitted for payment and has not provided me with any refund despite numerous requests. I do not recommend him or his office at all. read more
