I used Barry Services for the treadmill at our retirement community for seniors over 62. After 4 visits, over $800 later, the treadmill is still not working. Our seniors depend on this machine to stay active at their age, especially with rehab situations. Barry, owner, came out 3x and its still not functioning. You are better off lighting your money on fire instead of contacting this company. I have only left positive reviews for companies on Yelp, but my awful experience with BARRY SERVICES (BARRY) has made me write this. On September 2, 2023, I reached out to BARRY regarding replacing my (stock) Precor 9.35 treadmill belt that had torn. This belt lasted since the treadmill was purchased in 2009. Right off the bat, BARRY not only wanted to replace the belt, but also pushed me to replace the deck. Even after finding out my make/model, BARRY "highly recommended" I replace the deck. Thanks to my own research, I realized my treadmill had a reversible deck (and it was never flipped before). This is something a company in the fitness industry should know about Precors, but clearly they wanted to make more money off of me. After I declined a new deck based off my research, BARRY charged me $461.48 for a new belt, with install. On September 26, 2023, BARRY replaced my treadmill belt. Unbeknownst to me, the belt I paid $461.48 for was a piece of junk. In addition, the technician trekked dirt/mud through my house, and left a screwdriver and a part of the treadmill underneath it. Fast forward five months, my belt was starting to bubble, it was causing a great deal of noise as it ran over the rollers in front and back, and then, not surprisingly, a hole formed (as pictured). I am the sole user of this treadmill. I use it two times a week and I'm a 120lb female. This is completely unacceptable considering my first belt lasted 14 years. I reached out to BARRY and they said they couldn't do anything without charging me to replace the belt. Do not trust this company with work or your money. read more

I unfortunately didn't have a great experience with their moving services. I just had brand new hardwood floors installed on my upper level and staircase and emphasized that to the movers and asked that they please be careful. I also spoke with Barry the day before to ensure they would carry it up the stairs rather than wheel it. The movers dragged it up the stairs on the wheels and wouldn't have been strong enough to carry it up if they wanted to. They also dragged it around the new floors and were extremely rough. I didn't feel like my house was respected at all. It seemed like one of the guys wanted to be careful and the other was pressuring him to move quickly to get the job done. read more

I have a recumbent stepper machine and after several years of very regular use, something broke. The labor warranty was no longer in effect, but they did help me with getting the parts (still under warranty) that most likely needed to be replaced. The manufacturer also provided a list of recommended service companies in my area. I contacted Barry Services and the rest of the repair process was quick, smooth, easy, and handled very efficiently and professionally. Jennifer, in the office, provided great assistance and was able to schedule a service call just a few days after I received the parts. The service rep arrived as scheduled and fixed the machine quickly. He explained what was done and left everything clean and neat. Great experience from start to finish! This company and its owner are a joke!!!! Had them work on my elliptical last week. They changed the battery and it worked for that day, that was it! Call and spoke to the owner, he assured me that he would talk to his technician and find out the issue and get back that later that afternoon. NOTHING! REALLY, NOTHING?? Great way to run a business. Reached out the next day, which was Saturday, again no reply????? Even tried texting his technician, again NO REPLY. I highly suggest that if you are looking for someone to work on your fitness equipment, bypass this company. Barry Services surpassed all expectations. I had been eying an octane xt-one elliptical for some time, but even the used ones were out of my price range. When I finally found one I could afford, it was in the second floor and down a narrow hallway. Every other company either refused to move it it or was $$$$. Barry Services quoted me $150 less than the other movers and they were communicative and considerate throughout the whole experience. Phil came out to repair an Echelon 5S bike. I had worn out the tension decoder. Some screws were stripped or rusted. It was not easy, but Phil worked through it and got the new part from Echelon installed. He kept calm even when we had to call Echelon for some guidance. At first it appeared that it would not fix it, but he tried one more approach and this time it took. He clearly knew the inside mechanics from having worked on many other brands of bikes in the past. They handled this job amazingly. So I called them to service my 30 year old Lifecycle. I was pretty concerned a unit that old would probably not be salvageable. But Barry's came through! Great reliable service...I'm a repeat customer, and Barry is the first & only place I call for maintenance, repair and moving (which I've done several times). Good equipment is expensive, and during the pandemic hard to come by, so its essential to keep on top of maintenance (we have an elliptical, spin bike, home gym). Whether its a small repair or moving equipment --across a hallway into a different room or to another house altogether, as we've done both-- it's just easier to let a professional do it. They test before and after set-up; the crews have always been friendly and efficient, and the prices are reasonable. The equipment was delivered by freight on a pallet by another company. My husband and I tried bringing the reformer ourselves but that was not going to happen in this life time. Anyhow they carried the reformer safely in to the home and then down to the basement. Very careful and well-thought out plans. This was not easy because the machine itself was awkward and heavy. Check their work thoroughly before they leave... We hired Barry to move our treadmill, Peloton and elliptical. The 2 movers did a very nice job. When we got on the Peloton to do our first ride post move we noticed that one of the stabalizers was missing off the rear bar (something you only would notice if you were doing a standing ride). I reached out to Barry to see if they found the part in the truck following our move. They said they throw everything out they find in the truck each night. They said they could see if they could get the Peloton part but it would be at my expense since I signed off on the move. I called Peloton and ordered it myself. It was $8 with shipping. Fortunately this was a small issue I could handle on my own but I was disappointed in their response. Again, make sure you thoroughly check their work! read more

I have a Sole F80 treadmill that I thought had given up the ghost. I ordered some parts for it and scheduled an appointment with this company to do the repair. They gave me a 2-hour window, showed up at the beginning of that window, including a call about 30 minutes before to let me know they were on their way. This kind of reliability and organization made my day much easier to manage. Barry and his assistant Alex were great at their job, explained to me what they were doing when I asked (and polite enough not to get annoyed when I was hovering over them trying to see what they were doing)! All in all, I was extremely happy with their service and would recommend them without reservation. Edit: Forgot to mention perhaps the best thing: It turned out that the motor was shot too. I was discouraged and imagining having to replace the treadmill when Barry pointed out that it might still be under warranty even after 10 years. Sure enough, it was! I've been stuck in a moving nightmare for awhile. Called Barry's and they were booked out for about two weeks. I didn't have time to wait so I just kept looking. My move dragged on. I emailed them again and decided I would just get on the schedule and at this point, probably pay whatever just to be done. The guys showed up and I was pretty stressed because their was a miscommunication...and that is how the last disaster began. The guys were over the top polite and told me that had it handled and I could calm down. They were 100% correct. They had it handled. They did great work. Yes, they cost more than regular movers. Yes, the are more efficient than regular movers. This is all they do. This was some of the best money I have spent. Definitely not worth trying to save $50-$100 by hiring the wrong people. I purchased a commercial-grade elliptical through craigslist and it was large enough/heavy enough that I didn't want to move it. I contacted Barry Services and told them where it was, where it was going to and the model of the elliptical. I described it and he said he knew which one it was. It was too large to fit through the doorways so it would have to be disassembled, moved, then reassembled (thus, why I hired fitness equipment movers). We scheduled a time about a week out and he quoted me a price of $150. I called the morning of to confirm and he said that we were all set. When he showed up at the sellers home, he said that it was not the model he thought and the price would be AT LEAST $250! He also said that it was the end of the day and he just really didn't want to do it. He tried to tell me that he said the price started at $150 and that I didn't give him enough information about it, which is just not true. As a "specialist" in moving and repairing ellipticals, you need to know enough about them to give an accurate quote when I gave him the model number! I was stuck with a mover that doubled the price and really didn't want to do it and a seller that needed it out of their home. He was totally unprofessional in the seller's home. I would certainly not recommend him to move an elliptical. If you must use him, definitely get a quote in writing with the model of the machine listed on the quote. read more

I would definitely not recommend Barry Services for Fitness Equipment. The serviceman confirmed that the " belt was slipping on front roller causing a loud screech" and after presenting me with a $105 bill, claimed that he fixed it and the treadmill, although old, should be still working OK for a while. Needless to say, I presumed he checked everything and the treadmill was now ready to use since there was no mention of any need for new parts or further service. When I tried it a couple of days later, it was making a far worse, banging noise, and it now felt very unsteady. I called and was told that I "most probably" need a new belt at $69.00 plus a delivery fee and an additional $105, service call fee. $105.00 spent on absolutely nothing!! read more

Great service. Scheduling was easy, follow up good. When my elliptical was delivered, the delivery guys convinced me it couldn't go to the workout room upstairs: it was too big (translation, they didn't want to make the effort). So, it was snack dab in the middle of my living room. I hated it there. Called Barry, and he knew the model and assured me it wouldn't be a problem to move. And it wasn't! The team was very professional and polite AND swept up afterwards-no mess, just a very heavy elliptical moved up the stairs and around the corner while I worked in my office. Despite the holidays and the thousands of deliveries these folks work; Barry Morris and his crew are awesome! The poor ratings they have are not understood by me. There is no way, that if a customer is being reasonable, that this company would receive 1 star or anything less than 4 for that matter. You have to be reasonable and caring. I have been in sales and professional services on the high end of Fortune 500 clients for a long time and I want to hire these people! The communications were perfect! Fast and consistent. I wasn't able to get the treadmill the exact day I wanted but mostly because of the holidays. Barry worked with me and got it to me on his own with no help from his crew because they were out delivering other items. Rather than making me wait till the next week; Barry drove it out and helped me get the MASSIVE box right where I wanted it. Additional notes worth mentioning: Appearance: professional and clean. My wife is tough on people...really tough:-) She even said that the delivery guys she spoke with were very friendly. That's like...whaaaaaattt? Getting a complement from her is a BIG deal!
