This location has always been a rest stop when my family takes a road trip to and from Las Vegas. I haven't visited this place in years, and when I entered the place I was surprised with how much they have grown to provide a variety of foods than just Mc Donalds. Now they also offer Wetzel's Pretzels, Panda Express, Subway, and Dunkin' Donuts. They still have the shops that sell a bunch of random novelties, but I'm glad to see that I finally have options! read more

This is our usual pitstop before Las Vegas to have a stretch break and a quick bite to eat. It's quick and convenient. For this particular stop the shops and restaurants were closed. Only McDonalds was open. We didn't arrive any later than usual, just past 9pm and it's closed! Couldn't get my Panda Express fix :( read more

When I was a kid and my family would drive out to Vegas from central CA several times a year, I would get all hyped up about a few specific points along the way. The first was the train place in Barstow (this one) and the second was the giant thermometer in Baker. No doubt, Barstow Station is good if you've got a family making a long drive. There are lots of options for food, so everyone can get what they want. Enough parking. Clean enough bathrooms. As an adult who makes this drive 4-6 times a month, I basically never stop at Barstow Station any more. I just can't with the tourists, ya know? I need to pee, grab some coffee or snacks, and get back on the road with maximum efficiency. Generally, I stop across the street at Starbucks-- the bathrooms are cleaner, the whole place is less cluttered, and I can basically main line caffeine (a huge plus on a long desert drive). read more

It's a little oasis on the way to Vegas. Always crowded, but the food, snacks, and gifts are decent. The bathrooms are normally clean and not as crowded(which I thought they would be). There's not a lot of places to stop in the desert so there's not a ton of choices, but this little rest stop is worth it if it's needed. read more

Stopped here on the way back to Cali as I've done many, many times in the past. I always enjoy this quirky little place. It's great pit stop between Vegas and California. We usually stop here for a bit at McDonald's. I noticed they also had a Subway Sandwich store as well as a donut store. The chocolate store looked awesome but I just wasn't in the mood for chocolates that early in the morning. All of the comments referring to this place as a tourist destination are misleading at best. This is nothing but a bus stop and transit center. Alway stop at this place whenever I go to Vegas. It got pretty clean restrooms to use, and got a McD and ice cream shop inside. Good place to do a pitstop when you're on the road, especially whenever the rest areas closer to the Nevada border are closed, which happened in 2011 for repairs or something like that. I love the mix between the old fashion feel of the train cars you can sit in and the wooden building exteriors in combination with the bustling interior of Barstow station. There's some pretty interesting looking keychains and misc. items that some of the merchants sell, I always like to look at them. And for the travelers out there, this place has a penny machine with 4 designs. I always keep forgetting to bring a shinny penny and some quarters to use that machine, finally got one of the design out the last time I was there for my pennies custom coin collection. There aren't that many places to do a pitstop on the road to Vegas, this is a good place as any to get a break and top off your tank. read more

As a 50 year old native Angeleno, I have visited Las Vegas close to 100 times. The vast majority of those trips have been by car, which means that I have passed Barstow Station AT LEAST 100 times (counting the round trips) without EVER stopping in until today. Usually we hit the Starbucks across the street, or the Popeye's next door, but I had never gone into Barstow Station. I'm glad I finally did. There is a collective multitude of fast food options, plus some neat little shops where you can buy jerky, souvenirs, etc. Definitely a place to stop if there are people in your car who can't agree on what they want to eat, because there are so many options there. This is now going to be an option for us on our future road trips to Vegas. read more

A great halfway stop between LA and Vegas. There are tons of little vendors inside with trinkets, souvenirs (magnets, anyone?!), and even little girl flower crowns to keep my little lady happy. This place is great, I always try to stop here for some food and stuff on my way or on my way back from Vegas...

Didn't know what to expect from this place but I managed to find myself a pretty good survival knife for only $20. It may not be name brand but it will serve it's purpose when I'm camping or trying to stab someone, just kidding. They have a lot of novelty products there; sports memorabilia, phone accessories, clothing, food and even weapons. I liked it for what it was, a fancy rest stop. read more

Often packed with tourists from buses, sometimes dirty, and full of chintzy souveniers, this place is also genius. It's a perfect business - made for high volume visitors, with a Panda Express, a McDonalds, and several other options, and half way to Las Vegas. read more

So this place is kinda KOOL. There are a few fast food restaurants to choose from and a couple gift shops. Lots of train stuff and Route 66 memorabilia. Always stop here on the drive to cali. They have a mcdonalds with food on the menu that is not on any other mcdonalds. Also there is a giant souvenir store here, a candy shop, panda express, and other food here. read more

This is a must stop for people coming from so cal to vegas. I always stop here for a break, they have all kinds of food choices, McDonald's, Panda Express and more. Also all kinds of other nick nacks..(pocket knives, zippos, ass kickin hot sauce, etc.. Pros: I may have really liked this if I was 7. Seriously. As I was walking through the place I was wondering "why didn't I see this as a young'n?" Convenient place for a bathroom, smoke and snack break while road-tripping either to or from California. And that's really about it. Cons: McDonald's and Panda Express are the only good places to eat........yeah. Filled with corny, overpriced gift stores which sell Vegas shirts. I'll wait 2 hours to buy one of those when I reach Vegas, thanks. Barstow Outlet center is much better. In-N-Out and the best Del Taco in the world are located there. This may have been cool when I was 7, but I'm not 7 anymore. I fail to see any point in having a themed rest stop. Like I already said, you're better off going to the Barstow Outlet center. LOADS of stuff around there, without a crappy train depot theme. read more

Good place to stop on road trips to Laughlin or Las Vegas. Roomy, clean bathrooms with rarely having to wait in line. Very busy & sometimes hard to find a parking spot though. Also often crowded with throngs of bus tourists! You can't drive from LA/San Diego to Vegas without stopping at the famous Barstow Station! This place reminds me of being a kid and all of our weekend trips to Vegas. Although it is much older and run down now, there is still the McDonalds and Thrifty Ice Cream (worth the trip alone). This place is like THE place that everyone likes to stop at from LA to Vegas. There's a handful of selections to choose from eating wise. There's panda, McDonalds, and a few others that i cant recall. If you're only going to use the restroom and go i don't suggest it because the parking is HORRENDOUS! It used to be alright but now its always crowded and hard to get parking. If you're hungry and u want to use the restroom then stop on by but if you're only in the need to use the restroom and stretch i suggest going couple stops down where its less crowded. read more

We always stop here otw to and from Vegas. The bathrooms are (usually) clean, or at least much cleaner than most gas station bathrooms. They have a variety of eating options and lots of seating areas if you decide to get food here. Sometimes it can get very crowded if you're unlucky enough to stop by when a couple tour buses are also stopping by, but I really can't find much here to complain about. read more
