Any open rest stop is a good thing. Rest rooms are clean and the area is clean.. needs an update restrooms.. just I case the first ones are full keep driving and there is another set. Today when we stopped there was a fruit guy it was a little windy here maybe that's why they have the windmills

I am now seeing a trend. This is my second California rest area along I-10 and like Cactus City https://www.yelp.com/biz/cactus-city-rest-area-chuckwalla?hrid=fCV9FEQVZpXsLRIVdaEN6A, this one is awful. While there is a nice curve to get people to slow down and the auto parking area is a bit set back from the highway, it is still quite noisy with loud motorcycles and trucks going past on the road. There is no shade. And the toilet is just as disgusting. I don't know what's happened since the other reviewers had a positive experience. Not me. This is terrible. Decent Rest Area going East on Highway I-10 into the Coachella Valley. This side is newer than the all tiny pink tiled Mid-Century Modern Rest Area going West on the other side of the Highway. Clean bathrooms, and all were open and functional. It was pouring rain, so not too many people around, and there was plenty of parking close in to the Rest Area.

    Inside restrooms so clean

This rest stop is always a dirty disaster when I have stopped here. Not sure when it gets cleaned but it always seems due for it

Tons of parking, and a great view of the mountains from the parking lot. They even have a cool art display on one wall outside by the bathrooms for photo opportunities. The center itself is not large, and is filled with your typical T-shirts, sweatshirts, books, Christmas ornaments, etc. We did pick up a really cool Palm Springs Christmas ornament that was very unique and I didn't see anything like it when shopping downtown. The people at the desk have a large map that they draw on to show you how to get to certain places as they were giving us information which was helpful. I did buy a map that showed homes of past celebrities such as Doris Day, Elvis, etc. We did try to drive around and identify some of these homes, but it's not as easy as you would think. House numbers are not very apparent, and some of these streets are quite narrow, and with traffic behind you, you don't really have the opportunity to go slow and or stop to look. So we eventually gave up and just drove around to observe the unique architecture ourselves. I would say this is definitely worth a quick stop!

Sufficient parking, even on a weekend, with EV charging stations available. Views of the San Jacinto Mountains from the parking area. Outdoor rest rooms available without having to go into the Visitor Center. A few outside photo opps. Architecturally-interesting building. It was apparently a former gas station but, with its update, has the feel of a mid-century modern building. *Interior. (1) There were two manned information desks, with friendly and somewhat helpful staff who offered maps and recommendations of things to see and do in PS. The young man who helped us pulled out a map that had PS proper on one side, and the greater PS (to Coachella) area on the back. He went through a seemingly rehearsed spiel about what we should see/do without first ascertaining what type of activities we were interested in. It was helpful that he informed us that VillageFest, a weekly downtown event with artists, artisans, entertainers, food vendors, and more, would not be held that week because of Thanksgiving. But, we were disappointed that he couldn't answer some of our basic questions about the San Jacinto National Monument area. Also, in asking if the Visitor Center had a map for a self-guided walking tour of attractions, we were directed to a brochure of (paid) walking tours offered by the local historical society. (2) There was a separate desk run by the Agra Caliente Band of Cohuilla Indians, offering tickets that allowed access to hikes in their ancestral lands, including Indian Canyons and/or Tahquitz Canyon. The woman at the desk was very friendly and helpful, and we bought tickets for Indian Garden (valid for one year). Tickets are normally $12 (adults) and $7 (seniors 62+), but a $1/ticket discount is given if purchased at the visitor center. (3) there is a small gift shop with books, maps, and souvenirs. (4) locally-relevant exhibits and brochures to local attractions.

This rest area has a lot of potential to be really wonderful, with its amenities, a nice park like atmosphere, and an ocean view. Outside, there is a place where you can buy drinks, and there is also plenty of parking. Inside, it is quite clean for a public restroom facility. It's just a simple stop along the way, but it's comfortable enough when you need a break on the road.

The first time you visit you don't know it's going to be this way, so you stupidly drive in and get caught in the mass of cars stopped in the parking lot, everybody either waiting for a space to open or giving up and just parking in the roadway blocking traffic. Once cars get through that mess, seeing there's no place to park, they park all along the exit ramp all the way to the freeway. You'll see tons of 18-wheelers parked at the Vista Point nearby, there's a reason for that. Last Saturday I did that drive and knowing it was going to be like that I did what a lot of desperate cars do, park where the 18-wheelers park. I took a photo Saturday in case people don't believe me. You'll see spaces coned off (for CHP?) where people park anyway, cars parked along the right side of the roadway, and cars trying to get through stopped on the left side of the roadway (they're not going anywhere any time soon either).

What the heck happened to this rest area??…read more It used to be well-maintained and clean; however, during a recent stop en route to Palm Springs, I could not believe how filthy and gross this rest stop was, including the parking area and restrooms. The men's restroom had human feces on the ground, and the sink area, no paper towels or toilet paper were available, no soap to wash my hands, there were flies everywhere, and I could go on and on, but this pretty much describes the deplorable conditions of this entire place. I felt bad for a mailman who walked in, desperately looking for a toilet, only to take one look around and immediately leave. The sad thing is that there are no restaurants, gas stations, etc I'm in the area for miles, so this poor man was going to have to hold it for who knows how long?? I sure hope whoever is responsible for maintaining this rest area does a MUCH better job.

I walked up to the restroom on the left side of the building and it was locked. I then walked over to the one on the right side and it was the most disgusting restroom I've ever seen. There was urine and feces all over the floor and every single toilet seat. It looked as if more than one toilet exploded. I will NEVER stop here again. Overflowed toilets should not be happening. Not to mention the empty soap dispensers and no paper towels. What is the Department of transportation doing? They should have an employee assigned to these rest stops, knowing they are constantly being used.

California has not legalized commercial casinos. So how do Morongo, Yamaava, Agua Caliente and the other California casinos do it? They are all located on Indian lands. Native American tribes can own casinos in certain areas due to tribal sovereignty, which allows federally recognized tribes to operate largely independently of state gambling regulations, so long as they do so on sovereign lands. What's different? Primarily, no Sports Book, and no traditional roulette or craps (they use cards instead of dice or a roulette ball). Also, slot machine payouts are not as transparent as, say, Nevada state gaming laws require. Also, no high end shopping, but the Cabazon outlets are right next door, and El Paseo shopping in Palm Desert is right down the lane. What's the same? Super giant gaming floor with a zillion slots machines from one penny to $500 per pull. There's a fancy steakhouse on top which I will try next time, an AYCE buffet, and a few other restaurants. I have not stayed there, as I am loyal to Bonvoy properties, but everyone in the know says the lazy river cannot be beat. Free parking, though you must hoof it from some distance to the casino door. Morongo has to address the amount of 18 year olds running around. (Perhaps they're 21 but it didn't appear so). They tend to jump on a table, make one bet, get rowdy, and don't play with correctly. When 1 person makes a bet, their 8 person group stands behind them making the table feel cramped. They then leave immediately and will circle back to jump back in and do it again. It's Just not the most enjoyable experience at the tables. The only thing missing at this casino is a craps table! They have electronic craps but nothing beats the feeling of throwing dice.
