Let me translate what she wrote: Millbrae BART Station is the last stop in the Peninsula. It first opened on June 22, 2003 with the expansion of the line to the San Francisco International Airport, along with the stations in South San Francisco and San Bruno. It's been serving riders on the south side of the Bay for 20 years now. Ideally located next to Highway 101, El Camino Blvd. and close to 280, it's easily accessible and drivable. There's also SamTrans and CalTrans close by. I remember it being a lone structure when it first opened as it was surrounded by parking lots. Now, it's surrounded by condos, apartments, multi-level parking structure and small businesses. It's clean and feels safe and secluded here. Not that I'd hang round here, but it's peaceful and relaxing outside the entrance. They have some cool artwork installed that adds a nice aesthetic if you stop and see just for a moment from our busy lives. Let's see how the place evolves another 20 years down the road. read more

"9 car train bound for Richmond" Before 5/2019 and 1/2020 I was a regular at this BART station. It was the nearest one at the time and costed me less money to board here than in Fremont. I must declare there was a short time where I worked for the agency and it brought me easy access to where I was assigned to at the time. I had so many good memories here from dates with people I have been in relationship with to unfortunate interviews in the area. If you are transferring by the C-train all you have to do is go through the transfer gates if you are a clipper card holder. Otherwise you must follow the signs to ticket machines on the top level. Note: Choose this station for weekends in San Francisco because you can park for free and save time. There is 0 fear of a full parking lot so park to your hearts content. I will continue to use this station if I am not going to the Berkeley area. read more

From the Millbrae station, transferring between Bart and Caltrain is fairly simple. Crossing the platform from BART to Caltrain can be done in a matter of minutes via escalator/stairs. The station has clear signage to provide you with guidance. Both systems have free apps with live departures / arrivals to assist with the timing. Or try Google map app for one app to provide you with both schedules in real time. A clipper card will save you both time and money on fare. read more

One of the nicer Bart stations, and the only connection to Caltrain. This Bart station is big! I've read that it was intended to be a bigger hub of public transportation, but that fell through. It's the end/beginning of the line, so you're pretty much guaranteed to get a seat if you start your journey here. You can transfer on to the Caltrain if you need to go to the South Bay. Or vice versa. The area is pretty nice too so safety is never a worry around here. The parking lot is huge. $3 to park. If you arrive after 3pm, I believe it's free. The structure pretty much never fills up so that's one less thing to worry about. read more

The Millbrae Caltrain / BART station is lovely and is an essential station!!! It is in an important location that provides access to places like SFO International Airport, and it is very clean and well-maintained. The BART - Millbrae station is huge, featuring many lines of tracks, two stories with stairs, escalators, and elevators. It is one of the busiest locations due to it serving as an important transportation point, and it is always reliable. It is also easy to navigate the BART - Caltrain station. A Clipper card will get you on both the BART or the Caltrain if you plan to hop on often. The BART Train is a rapid transit system serving the San Francisco Bay Area and has six routes. At Millbrae I know it has at least a yellow line and a red line - they take you many places (for example the Red line takes you to SFO Airport). The Caltrain can also get you anywhere you would like in the San Francisco Bay Area. The Caltrain itself has multiple cars and has amenities like bike cars, two stories of seats within each car, and is accommodating for wheelchairs - I watched the Caltrain conductor extend a secure metal ramp. If you ever find yourself itching to explore the Bay Area / San Francisco Peninsula / Santa Clara Valley, BART and Caltrain will always be able to take you where you would like to go!!! read more

You can't expect to much when its really cheap to take the Bart Station anywhere. SO from Millbrae to San Fran Downtown financial district is only $4.65. Its not the cleanest train. But it does get you from one place to another. It is fast but again its also very loud. The machines are a bit confusing to use because you have to subtract amount from ticket. But again good thing is that there is always someone onsite to help you. It does go to the airport. So if you want to take this instead of taxi, you have an option. Also note that this train is not the safest at night. Seems sketchy at night but oh well. Overall, I enjoyed the cheap good fast ride. read more

This is the last Bart station on the line. They have a huge parking garage, which at the moment is $3 per day. It's free I believe after 3pm. There are two public bathrooms, not great, but hey if you gotta go! This is your connection line to Caltrain if needed? The station is right off Highway 101. Word of advice, they do have a camera, make sure you make a complete stop at the red light before you make a right-hand turn. They gave my husband a ticket there and it was a video!!! That's how the city of Millbrae makes their money, off people who are rushing. read more

This is the end of the line for BART at the southern part of SFO airport. If you don't want to stay in the dirty, crowded city, stay in Millbrae and just catch the BART in. You do have to wait about 8 minutes sometimes when the train pulls in, since the engineer probably takes his/her break at the end of the route. Lots of people get on and off at the airport. The bathroom at the station is very filthy and lacked paper, but I guess that would encourage the homeless to stick around. We saw two regular homeless people during our 4 days there that seem to make the train their home, since they didnt seem to get off much. Free weekend parking in the structure on the week we were there, otherwise $3 a day. Some of the ticket machines were broken and frequently wouldn't take our credit card. Millbrae is the location of the southernmost BART stop along the peninsula. For people in South Bay trying to get to BART, that means making the ~30 mile trip to Millbrae by either car or Caltrain. Bleh. Apparently BART had plans back in the day to connect to San Jose along the peninsula, but the counties of San Mateo and Santa Clara said no. DENIED. Thanks a lot, guys. As you head up the peninsula towards SF, things get smaller and more dense. That's why I like the Millbrae BART station. There's plenty of parking, with a few large lots and a five-story parking structure. And parking is only $2 from 4am - 3pm, Monday through Friday. Outside of those hours, parking is free! The lots aren't too well lit, so be mindful of your surroundings at night. Millbrae is generally a safe area, though. The station is large and modern, and services Caltrain on one side and BART on the other. However, not all of the station is being used, as some parts are closed off. I found only one pair of single-occupancy restrooms, and it was inside the access-controlled area leading to the BART platforms. Not cool for a station that lots of people come through. Next to the restrooms were a couple drinking fountains that barely worked. This is a great station for its plentiful and cheap/free parking, but it could do better with making amenities more accessible. read more

I was looking for a great deal on parking around SFO airport for a quick little weekend vacation. It always a pain to find parking and I like to have a plan. My usual plan was Park to SFO lot which is around $19 a day. So she tells me that you can go online and book a BART long term space and then take the BART train to the shuttle. I look it up and book my ticket for $6.50 each day and print out my voucher. http://www.bart.gov/guide/parking I parked and felt comfortable leaving my car there for the weekend. Hopped the train to San Bruno then to the airport. It was easy and saved $37.50 over the other parking lot. Next time, I'll just park my car at San Bruno and save that extra stop but wanted to share my Airport parking tip. This works at any BART station and OAK and SFO airports. read more

Okay, so I logged into BART's website and paid for their long term / airport parking at the Millbrae station. $6 bucks a day for seven days. The payments accepted and I print out my receipt. On my copy of the receipt are instructions where I can park at the station. It states; "parking available in the long term / airport parking area of the garage." On the morning of June 30th @ O dark thirty, I arrive and attempt to follow the directions. Wait, there are NO signs posted on any level that read long term / airport parking. The only signs posted in the garage are; single day parking signs and reserved parking signs. I'm glad I'm a get there early person. If I hadn't been, I may have missed my flight. "There is a huge stress with disorganization and there is also a cost to being disorganized - Carolee Cannata." Do you hear me talking Millbrae BART? The pros to the place are; It's a really cool, cost effective and non-stressful way to get back and forth from SFO. read more

Three stars is the best I can do for ANY BART station because BART is yucky and the fabric seats are probably filled with more bacteria than the Ganges. BUT, this is one of the best..if I HAD to choose. There is ample parking here during the week. If you get in during the morning rush (8:00-9:00am), there is usually always parking on the very top floor which is uncovered. AFTER 10:30..the reserved/permit parking is open to anyone..and after 3:00, parking is FREE!! (M-F, usually $2) If you live in the Peninsula and need to go to the Airport, this is the southern most BART station and you can park over night for $6/day. Just print out a permit by looking under parking at bart.gov and put it on your driver's side dashboard...pretty good deal. Saves me the $45 cab ride. Little known fact is that when there isn't a Millbrae to SFO train, it is actually cheaper to go from Millbrae to San Bruno to SFO, than to drive to San Bruno and bart to SFO. WEIRD, right?! Just takes more effort.. read more

I guess this is as good as they get. This station is generally clean, very seldomly attended to during the weekends, and has free parking on the weekends. The station has plenty of seating and trash cans for your convenience and buying a ticket is a breeze. This station is convenient for those who want to go to the city but don't want to deal with parking, particularly in the Embarcadero area. Although I really don't care much for how long it takes from Millbrae to Embarcadero. It's such a short drive when no traffic, but it takes over 45 min at the minimum! read more

This BART station is just over a decade old and as such looks and feels significantly cleaner/fresher. It's also the southernmost station on the Peninsula; I really wish it would extend down into Redwood City or at least to San Mateo, and in fact I'd be happy if BART eventually extended down to San Jose and effectively phased out Caltrain, but there's a lot of history behind why that likely won't ever happen. Parking is plentiful at this station and it feels safer than most other BART stations. A group of drunk guys returning home from a Giants game did threaten to beat me up once, but that was after I yelled at them for shouting racist crap at me. Anyway, thanks to this BART station my habits have changed over the past decade: unless I know for certain that I'm headed somewhere in the city west of Divisadero, I pretty much don't ever drive into SF anymore. This is great because I don't have the stress of driving into and around the busier parts of the city, and my BART fare round trip ends up usually being about the same (or less) than what I would have spent on parking. And trips to Oakland/El Cerrito/Berkeley are a total breeze. Probably the only disadvantage to boarding at Millbrae is that the BART cars at Millbrae tend be the ones with the dingiest interiors. I'm waiting for the day all of the cars are upgraded with hard plastic (or otherwise easily wipeable) seating. read more

All in all this station is pretty good- a bit of a wind trap, and navigating to the proper areas can be confusing to a newcomer. Lots of good restaurants nearby in downtown Millbrae, and nearby Burlingame Plaza. BUT, whoever's the girl was who working the top floor information booth on Wednesday, September 30th was extremely un-helpful. Was waiting for the CalTrain to San Jose, which leaves from the BART station, and an announcement was made that ALL trains would be departing from the Northbound Platform B. There was no sign indicating which platform was B, and there was confusion as to where to go. If you were on the wrong platform, you would miss the train. Asked the girl in the booth which platform was Northbound B- and her answer was that she was with BART and not CalTrain and therefore had no idea. It just seems that anyone working there would at least have a basic idea of the layout of the station. Wouldn't expect her to have the CalTrain schedules, just basic track info. In the end, a BART maintenance worker was kind enough to give the correct information. read more

The Millbrae BART Station is huge and to this first time visitor, somewhat disorienting. There's a lot of concrete and a lot of cars, and as I waited for my personal driver (Rene C.) to arrive, I wondered how far of walk it might be to find a nice bar and hang out with a drink. That and other stuff seems to be a bit of a hike. However, the pickup was straightforward and before we knew it we were soon traveling down Highway 101 and talking about gasoline prices, air freight, Pizza, and of course his MC. The Millbrae BART Station is a convenient option for an East Bay to Peninsula traveler, as Caltrain also stops here. I also found it interesting that on the way down and per the BART map, the Train skipped SFO and on the way back stopped there. In either direction it's a long ride back to the East Bay, especially at night. read more

If I ever go to the city and I'm not getting a ride, I'm almost always taking BART in. And I'll usually go from Fremont station or Millbrae station, both southern terminuses of BART. I go to Millbrae when I'm ok with driving a bit longer from SJ and having a slightly shorter BART ride into downtown SF. One major plus is that they have a lot of parking, including a four story covered parking garage. On weekdays you have to pay for parking. Weekends don't worry about it! Save yourself the headaches and get a Clipper card with BART money loaded in and set up the Autoload - it's so convenient not having to deal with adding value or getting tons of change or having to worry about those flimsy tickets. This station also links up with Caltrain, so I've taken Caltrain up from SJ and transferred over to BART here at Millbrae to get to SFO. And on weekends you can leave your car in the garage, the 24 hour limit parking rule doesn't apply on Saturdays and Sundays. So I've left my car here overnight when I went to the city Saturday night and slept over and came back via BART on Sunday. Check out BART's parking section on their website for more info and any changes. Oh and another bonus is that this BART station is really close to the 101 exit and on ramps (not like Fremont which you have to drive forever down Mowry after exiting 880). There's also a restroom once you tag into the BART station, but bring hand sanitizer and tissues just in case! The not-so-good thing is that there are red light cameras at the millbrae and Rollins intersection and I swear the camera just goes off whenever it wants. The light flashes even when you have the green light! Makes me nervous when I have to make any kind of turn! read more

Generally speaking, the transfer from CalTrain to BART is a painless one. Feels safe and well-lit, unlike some of the BART stations in the city, there aren't really any ne'er-do-wells around trying to steal your wallet or sell you heroin, which is a nice feature. On Thursdays there's an "Off the Grid" event, which means that on that far north end of the parking lot you'll see a line-up of about 10 food trucks. Most of my favorites haven't made an appearance YET, but here's hoping that turns around in the near future. read more

This is the BART station to use, if you're staying at one of the airport hotels. Why? It's cheaper to get into SF if you depart from the Millbrae station vs. departing from the SFO airport BART station. I'm not sure why that's the case, but that's what I was told. Also, it's walking distance from the airport hotels too -- from the Marriott; it was only a 25-30 min walk (1.1 miles). It only costs $4.50 to take the BART from Millbrae to Powell Street station, where all the shopping is located (and eateries!) If you think the walk is too much (especially if you get in late at night back to Millbrae Station) and you don't want to walk back to your hotel, you can always call Lyft or Uber to take you home via a quick drive down the street. read more

I hate this station and have since started taking BART backwards and then taking a bus to Caltrain instead of taking BART to Millbrae. This station makes little sense, and has incredibly bad signage. I've been here before several times and still seem to get lost a little each time. Trying to catch Caltrain from BART is a nightmare, there is no better word. Its a nightmare with teeth when you have to buy a ticket during transfer, since they don't work with each other on timings and thus you more often than not are forced to run for your train. It was an awesome idea, but whomever is responsible for the follow though must have called in sick that day. read more

This is definitely one of the better Bart stations I've been to. I read somewhere that it's the largest public transportation multi-modal transportation platform west of the Mississippi. Not sure how true that is but it is relatively large. It consists of a BART and CalTrain. Very convenient for those traveling further out in the Bay Area. I haven't used the CalTrain here so this review is solely for Bart. Like I was saying earlier, this is one of the better Bart stations I've been to. Why? Because it's cleaner, large parking structure, has friendlier employees and is pretty easy to navigate for new commuters. It's easy to navigate because Millbrae is the last stop in the line so you only have one platform to get on (which is clearly marked near the escalators) and there are signs all over the station routing you to the right place and telling you where each train goes. Not to mention it is CLEAN!! And yes, I know this may seem unimportant but the escalators are most always functioning. Trust, something this small makes a huge difference. I've been to Bart stations where all escalators aren't working and just getting up the stairs takes a good 3-5 minutes. Not to mention what a bummer that is for people who need to use escalators or have young kids. One critique I have is to add more stairs and Clipper card machines. Even with the escalators, the stairs do get congested during peak hours. Another is to create more parking spots for the people who don't have reserved parking privileges. Oftentimes, there are a ton of parking spots in the reserved parking. read more

Terminal station for BART on the west side of the bay and also happens to be a transit center where BART meets Caltrain. Caltrain parking is on the west side and BART parking is on the east side (where the 5-story garage is). FYI - you cannot pay for daily BART parking until you are inside the BART gates (unless you have a prepaid permit), so keep that in mind. Also entrance to BART is on the 4th floor of the garage and non-permit spots are located all the way at the end (furthest from the bridge to the station) - read the posted signs. Also, note down your stall number (or take a picture)! This BART station has 2 bathrooms (on the north side only), but use at your own discretion (they are public restrooms after all). Also, the traffic light at the Rollins/Millbrae Ave intersection has very sensitive cameras in all directions, so I wouldn't recommend trying to beat the light here. Trains usually arrive/depart every 15 minutes, but since it is a terminal stop, often times the train will arrive and they'll open the doors to let arriving passengers off, then close the doors for ~10 minutes (to conserve AC, I presume?). If the train's been sitting there for a bit, then they'll likely reopen the doors. read more

I go to the Millbrae BART Station pretty often. I like the station because it's one of the ones where I feel very safe. The station is also clean! No pee smell here!! Forgot how windy this station was, remember to bring a jacket if you are waiting for your ride outside. Also clarify with your ride that you are meeting them outside the West Entrance on the El Camino Real side or the East Entrance on the Hwy 101 and parking structure side. Good clean Bart station that also serves as a Caltrain location, which was a bit funky for me to find the right train and was freaking out a bit thinking I had gotten onto the wrong side but then I realized, "D'oh, this is the last stop regardless, so anywhere is good for the BART pickup". Great area, plenty of parking and nice pickup area for folks picking people up from their commute. Not a lot of security cameras but the area is nice and I've seen cops loitering around, but also some sketchy folks which is a given with BART. Be sure to pay for parking! The BART itself is on the ground floor obviously but you need to walk up and over to get into the BART stop. read more

Good motorcycle parking at this station, just under the the Millbrae Ave overpass. Motorcycle area is well lit, and the station is pretty busy and patrolled so your bike should be safe. Motorcycle parking is free in bike spots, but you must pay if you park in any car-sized spots! Decent BART station but only a couple lines go here instead of all 4 leaving you waiting for awhile for the next train. read more

As far as Bart stations go, this is one of the best ones. It's an end station, so you can always get a seat, even if you're traveling during the morning work hour rush. It's clean (especially compared to other Bart stations - SF stations ...shudder). There's a big parking lot. There's a large long curbside drop off area (behind the taxi stop area) that doesn't get super jammed up when a train has gotten in and everyone's trying to pick up. Not sure what else to say about it, but I have frequented Bart for many years, and this is the best station I can think of for the reasons mentioned above. read more

One of my favorite BART stations as it's the last stop on the peninsula BART track. You can walk across the tracks and get on CalTrain to go farther south. There is always parking here, even though you sometimes have to park in the far east lot. It's still an easy walk. The escalators here are usually working, too. Fast in and out of this station. I like it because the train is usually waiting for me as I come down the stairs. Open, safe feeling about this station as it's not underground, closed in. read more

This is one of the most important hubs in the Bay Area, as it connects between Caltrain and BART. The Caltrain is on the southwest side, while the BART tracks lie on the northeast side, separated by a gate. There are BART ticket/clipper machines on both sides, but be aware that only the ones outside the BART station (on the Caltrain side) are true add-value stations; the ones inside the BART station only let you add fare to bring your balance up high enough that you can exit the station (if you took the BART from somewhere else with insufficient fare). Overall, nothing too good or bad to say about this station. read more

This station is important point because of the only public transportation access to the SF airport. As such, I had to give only 2 stars. First of all, it is inconvenient to go to SFO on weekdays because first need to go to San Bruno, then change directions to go to the airport. How inefficient. Only one station and costs $4.4!
