Okay this is my new obsession. Went here after work one day while visiting, and was lucky enough to snag their happy hour. The small bites on the menu are truly small, but they are well priced and delicious. We shared the pork belly, shrimp Marsico and tuna tartare on crispy rice, and each was incredible. Three for $8 seemed super fair for the price, and I wanted to get more of them. The margaritas were delightful, and the service was quite and attentive. The bar itself had a darker but friendly vibe, and was so welcome after a long day at the office. What a fantastic restaurant in Hilldale! I've wanted to try this restaurant since moving to the area. It's conveniently located in the Hilldale shopping center. Lots of parking available in their garages. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available (if the season is right!). They have an excellent cocktail menu (specializing in tequila, reposado, anejo, and mezcal - including a flight of them). I was not able to try these beverages when we went but plan to in the future. I went with an agua fresca that was delightful. We had chips, guacamole, and salsa (the trio), which were delicious! The taco sizes are small like street tacos, and they have a great variety. I got 3 tacos, including the duck, seared chorizo, and chicken verde. Mine were perfectly filling and tasty! Our serve was very nice, and the service was great. I love the tacos here! All the fillings were flavorful, and they paired really well with the hot sauces provided at each table. I personally love the roja sauce! The tacos are a little bit pricey with how small they are, but they tasted great. The guac is a little plain, I wish they had tomatoes and onions in it to spice it up. Hello, we love the food and the servers at Bartaco and have been regulars for years. My son and I make a point to visit weekly during football season (married to an Eagles fan ). We always check in online or over the phone on our way to join the wait list and are at the restaurant in person within 30 minutes to check in. Today, we were told that when you "check in" your wait time starts when you arrive in person which is directly conflicting with their online policy. I'm disappointed. I've been to a couple of bartacos in Virginia and have always enjoyed them. My boss wanted to come here for a team dinner when I was in town, and she snagged us a table for 6. Our waitress was super friendly. She was also from the Nothern Virginia area, and it was a fun connection! I love the concept of being able to order from the QR code whenever we want and not having to wait for someone to come by to take our order. The food comes out very quickly. It is somewhat of a confusion if someone forgets what they order, but it's nice that they keep the tacos separate when different people at the table puts in an order. The tacos are really good, a bit small, but 2-3 is probably the right amount for a person. The margaritas are also really delicious. I also really enjoyed the shrimp taco. I even came the next night when I needed a quick sweet pick me up treat, and the hostess there was so sweet. I asked if I could just get an ice cream cone to go (there's weirdly no good/quick ice cream places in the shopping center - or maybe I just didn't explore enough). She quickly got up and led me to the takeout area to take my order. And a minute later, I had my mint chocolate chip cone. And it was perfect to eat while walking around the area on a nice night. It's my favorite time of year, Margarita March at Bartaco! They have some amazing margaritas that they put together that are only available for a short period of time. There are times where they will keep one of them on the menu as they did last year with the green margarita. They've just started, and I am begging for the Dos Piñas to be on the regular menu. I loved the appetizers I ordered, the fritters were probably my favorite. I ordered three tacos-one had pineapple, another had pork belly, and the third had beef (drawing a blank). The tacos were really good, on the small side-which I was warned about. The food that we all ordered separately was delivered randomly, the downside of not ordering all together, so we were interrupted often. Service was marginal overall. Again, not having a designated waitstaff makes for some strange interactions with people delivering food. That being said, I can see how this could appeal to some people-open tab, order whatever, whenever and it just shows up. The tacos are simple but incredible. They are small so you can order several they come out quickly. All of the meat is cooked impeccably. The duck taco was juicy. The chorizo taco had a nice char. The pork belly taco is some of the best pork belly I've ever had. The lobster taco is unparalleled. My mother actually exclaimed "Oh my god!" out loud when she took a bite of it. However, I was absolutely blown away by my food here, and I am already looking forward to my return. My first time at Bartaco and I enjoyed the experience. We were seated for date night at a skinny table right next to the kitchen, not my first choice but was alright. Service was pleasant and quick! Team was all very hands on and alert. Ambiance was so nice to be around and drinks and food were all awesome Only issues were the amount of food, go into Bartaco expecting small portions. For tacos this is fair but the rice bowl was quite small too and would definitely not feed a big grown man sufficiently, so we ordered more tacos! Guac was very small even for me, elote was also so-so We had the Baja fish, buttered lobster, sesame shortrib kimchi, chicken karaage -- in that order of my favorites. Shortribs though boneless were dry and I was expecting more, loved the kimchi though. Karaage was seasonal and definitely lowest on the list, dry pineapple and low chicken flavor. Loved the first two! If I came back to Bartaco I'd personally do a little late lunch to evening time snack-peckish-type meal rather than a full date night, though it was a nice one-off visit for nighttime! Dessert was so yummy, kinda tasted like overnight oats and texture but in the best way! Definitely pricey for the portions too, so all in all earns an above average 3-stars in my book read more

Bartaco was a good dining experience for my group of friends at dinner. High quality spirits and food paired with a very good ambiance of the restaurant made for a great time. I thought the quality of the food was good, however I did think that the overall spice level of foods (even those that were not marked to be spicy) was a little too much. I am a little sensitive to spice and if you are too, I would mention that to the wait staff so they can better accommodate you. Service was pretty good, they use a paper ordering slip for you to order the food and I have found this helps make sure you get what you want for dinner. Our food came out great and with no mistakes. The drinks here were also very good. The drink mix they use for margaritas is very high quality and delicious. Overall I think this is a good spot and it's also in a very nice location. read more

Overpriced tacos anyone? This place has a rather odd spin on taco eating. First of all, the menu is digital meaning, you place your order online and your server comes to your table with the drinks/food you ordered. I personally do not like this, I think it ruins a taco eating experience. Even though the food is as flavorful as it looks on the online menu, the portion sizes are incredibly small. The tortillas they use are mini tortillas so you're paying about 4.00 a taco. Not a fan. read more

Visited again for lunch today and was pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy it was to visit, not like the 2+ hour dinner wait we had on our last visit. Maybe lunch is a better time to go. Anyway, it seems that they have a new lunch tacos tray which is three tacos with either a soup or a salad for $13. Some of the fancier tacos have an upcharge associated with them, but it's a pretty good amount of food for a lunch. The best part about the tray is that it forced us to order a new item, and we chose the chicken tortilla soup. It was sooo good! The flavors were awesome and the chicken was cooked perfectly. We got the oyster (our favorite), mahi-nita (new), and the baja fish taco. The new one could use a little more fish and the baja one could use a little less breading, otherwise they're great. Make sure to ask for them without cilantro if you don't like it, because it seems to be their favorite ingredient! I usually pick some off there is so much. Also make sure you get the street corn and the plantains! All the parking ramps are free at Hilldale so unless it is crazy busy you should have no parking issues. We also were seated by their indoor fireplace for the first time today and it was so cute. The patio was modern with wooden pergola overhangs from the building. They have several heaters as well. They put a pitcher of water and cups put immediately. The menu and paying is online only. The menu has subsections which makes it easier to find specific items but harder to see the options to choose. The chips and guac was okay. The chips were full tortilla circle shells. While it may look nice it is awkward to eat and share. The lemonade was 40% ice and in a small glass for $4. The wait for food was a bit long. The tacos are typical small taco sizes.
