No one ever answers the phone! I've found three different numbers but none of them are answered. I even called the store and spoke with a clerk who took my name and date of birth to hand deliver to the pharmacy- no one has phoned me back. I have a regular prescription sent in every two weeks usually first thing in the morning btwn 8:30-10:00 am. My husband goes in after work btwn 7:00-8:00pm and is told to come back at 8:45 pm. I'm sorry but 9 hours should be enough time to have one prescription ready. This keeps happening over and over. And I can't even verify what time it will be done because the pharmacy phone is never answered! Cmon Bartells or whomever has bought you, I know you can do better. As a Bartells customer for decades, it saddens me to see how Bartell's so drastically declined since RiteAid purcased them. If a Bartell's is still open, they store stock and pharmacy service is less than 1 star. Some employees seem to be doing their best but as a customer it's terrible. This location will switch to a CVS in Sept 2025, I can only hope it improves or I'll need go elsewhere. Most shelves in the store have been empty for ages; I was told they have a hard time getting some medications due to the bankrupcy; and my doctor has had to send prescriptions in multiple times. If the phones are working (the phone system was down for close to a week earlier this year), the pharmacy rarely picks up and I wouldn't bother leaving vmail - you probably won't hear back. I was a behind a women in the Rx line recently who said she drove down to ask if her prescription was ready, they said no. The woman told them she came in person to check as they hadn't answered the phone all day. They said they were too busy to answer the phone so it would be best if the she could drive back down to check later to ask if her Rx was ready. If it wasn't they could probably tell her in person then, when she could come back, I guess a 3rd time in one day, to pick up. Wow! read more

Came to the pharmacy at 9:10. Did the drive thru as I have Covid. Sat here in the drive thru for 20 minutes. Not kidding. It's now 9:20 and I'm finally being helped. There's no customers they were serving or anything. After waiting about ten minutes I called to inform somebody I was outside. I'm watching all the pharmacists wander around and chit chat. Nobody answered my call , so I called again. Was put on hold immediately. Finally after honking my horn I'm served my medicine. This is ridiculous. read more

I was at QFC pharmacy. Their staff is so rude so I switch to Bartell drugs in admiral. I have been to this drugstore before and I see that they seem to have the same people working there. That tells me that management must be treating them right. I'm giving them five stars because they were very nice to me today. When I went in to let them know I was switching to their pharmacy from QFC right away. I got notification of my prescriptions that were being transferred. Terrible experience multiple times at this pharmacy. I'm now looking for a new pharmacy because not only is the service extremely bad, but several times I have almost run out of my blood pressure medication simply because this pharmacy is so incompetent. I have two meds for blood pressure that should NOT be an ordeal. If it were not for this pharmacy, I think I might not need one of my meds for blood pressure. But every time I'm there, I witness every single customer having to argue for their Rx to be filled or something went wrong in the process. Happened to me 3 times now. I text my Dr to get a refill. I wait, and hear nothing from Bartell's. No one answers the phone. I go down there, the next day when surely the VERY SIMPLE med should be filled - wait in line, and am told that the prescription is not ready. Then have to wait 45 minutes to an hour for them to fill this med which should take 5 minutes and get a bunch of attitude for daring to try to fill a Rx there. Even if there are zero customers, they will make you sit there and wait for 45 minutes just to spite you for daring to be a customer. And god help you if you get frustrated or snippy. I feel like I have to beg them to do their job, and you still get attitude. One time, the pharmacist tried to blame my physician for not filling the Rx. When I told her that I just spoke to my Dr about the med being filled, she then tried to blame me for coming in too early for my blood pressure med, and my insurance wouldn't cover. This was neither my Dr or my fault. Something like this happens EVERY TIME. I've witnessed very elderly customers politely standing in line and having to put up with this bull and it's just wrong. I know now I could never retire in this city because you have to fight over even the simplest of things. I'm frightened if I ever needed anything in an emergency. Same thing for a flu shot. I scheduled a flu shot - went down 30 minutes there early. Was told to sit and wait "up to 45 minutes". And that that would call my name over the intercom (not phone call), and if I did not arrive when called my appointment would be canceled. Once, tried to schedule a flu shot and they told me my appointment was canceled because of a co-occurring appointment at Rite Aid. Again, I was relegated to sit and wait 45 minutes. No one else in line. No matter what you try to do, they seem try to come up with any excuse not to do their job and hope you give up and go away. Every time I feel like I have to beg and plead with them to please give me the flu shot. Turns into an all afternoon event. Every time I go in this place my blood pressure goes through the roof and I just decided I will do anything to transfer my rx to another pharmacy and not have to deal with these people. read more

This is for the Bartell Drug Pharmacy at 2345 Admiral in West Seattle. WHY do I have to be scolded by the clerk who gives me my meds EVERY time that I go there??? Today, when I received the meds for my wife and asked that they use the GoodRx pricing the same woman who always finds something to correct my behavior about said "you need to tell us in advance if you want to use GoodRx." Well the prescription is filled through your automated system and since you seldom answer the phone I can't call it in AND when the prescription is ready I get a text stating that it is ready SO there is no opportunity to speak with anyone about pricing until I show up at the counter (your counter) to pick it up!! Stop scolding your customers. If you don't like working there please please leave. Sick people don't need yet another problem most of the time. read more

I'm updating after 2 years since the Rite Aid take over and the pharmacy has gotten much better. Not as friendly but you're now not waiting long in line. There has been a significant decline in product on the shelves. Many empty shelves and absent products. I went with 5 items on my list and came out with nothing. Mundane items like Claritin, gummy vitamins, deodorant, floss! All things I now purchase through Amazon rather than waste time driving around. Like many others, I hate writing a poor review for my local Bartell's but the pharmacy service has been so bad that I'm in the market for a new pharmacy in West Seattle. The employees are nice enough but they're clearly understaffed. They don't answer the phone and they don't seem to return phone calls either. Here's how refilling prescriptions goes: Call the automated service. Specify that you need the prescription today. Be told the prescription will be ready after 5pm today. Go to pick up the prescription *tomorrow* only to be told its still not ready. This has happened multiple times so at least I've learned my lesson by this point, but it's still frustrating. read more

It took a week to fill two very common prescriptions. My doc is helping me transfer everything elsewhere so I don't have to miss any more doses. Prescription 1: "we couldn't fill this one, it's too early." I didn't notice until I got home, but they DID fill it Prescription 2: "we can't fill this one, it's too early." The bottle, again, literally says it was last filled thirty days ago. I still don't have that one. But it only controls my blood sugar, so that's not too important, right (heavy sarcasm) Prescription 3: I didn't ask to refill it. I literally have a full bottle. Now I have two. Maybe this extra nervous system medication can help control my blood sugar? My husband's doctor told him to tell Bartells to send/fax a refill request to him. Bartell's (in person, because they don't answer the phone): we don't do that. It's just laughable at this point. I'm not laughing right now, though, because I missed medication doses again. So I don't feel super great. I see that Ashley, the business owner, responds and asks us to DM her. But I can't open her profile to do that, so they're just making it LOOK like they're responding to the flood of angry patients. Don't tell us you're working on the problems unless you can give us specific steps you're taking. Because nothing is getting better. Not even a little bit. If the owner cares, go visit right now and see how the patients feel. There's a man who's been on the same medication for 20 years and can't get it filled. It's been 52 days and he's been in three times. People are complaining about phones not being answered. One staff person said "we can't answer every call" and another one told someone else their "phone system is still down." Which is it? One woman's husband has been calling "like he's on a sinking ship." My husband HAS to get his prescription filled today. Doctor sent it yesterday. The pharmacy didn't answer the phone when we called earlier (hey we had to try) today, so he went in. They told him it wan't ready, to leave and they'll text him when it's done. He HAS to have it today. He can't wait a week. Or 52 days. So he's waiting. They wouldn't give him a time estimate. Multiple people have asked the staff "wasn't it called in x days ago?" One of them 3, another 4. This is all within 30 minutes. I do feel bad for the staff - their leadership team doesn't seem to care about any of this. But the staff doesn't seem to have much empathy for their patients. Final update: my husband went in, asked about the status of his prescription. They looked it up, told him it wasn't ready - they'll text him when it is. He has to have it today, so he said he'd wait. They wouldn't give him a time estimate. He waited for an hour. And then they told him they won't fill it. That he needs to call his doctor. This is the 3rd time we have had to do "something" to get a refill. Not get a refill, in this case.... This is, thankfully, the last time either of us will use this pharmacy. read more

The pharmacy at this Bartell is absolute rubbish. I am left to believe that it is primarily staffed by incompetent employees who don't care about the well-being of their customers. I understand that they are currently understaffed and busy but I've given them every opportunity to fill my prescriptions.. every leniency, understanding, and kindness I could. I've been forgiving of being unable to fill two prescriptions of mine at the same time for months on end. And forgiving of the lies that they have told me when they've said your prescription will be ready at a specific time. But this is the last straw: they left me in a state of withdrawal with massive headaches because they haven't been able to fill my prescription before it ran out even with over a week of time to do so. Not to mention several phone calls to the pharmacy to check on my prescription's status. I wish I didn't have to write such a scathing review. But I honestly cannot recommend this pharmacy to anyone who needs their prescriptions. These issues are not recent or only pandemic related. I've had bad experiences the entire time I've used them. Don't give this pharmacy your business. Don't trust them with your health and well-being. read more

I moved here in 2013 and quickly became a Bartell Drugs loyal customer. Since the ownership change, it has been downright awful. I leave messages...get no answer. I finally get someone to answer my call to refill my prescription and they tell me it is ready only to find when I show up, it isn't. The pharmacy is understaffed and within weeks of the turnover, all the staff who knew me by name or face are gone. The customer service sucks. Their logistics sucks. The staff, while somewhat professional are overwhelmed and lack any real customer service skills. I finally had to speak to a manger today as I had had enough. While the manager stood there, listening to the ample complaints, I got the instant feeling that she had heard a lot of this lately and really didn't care if I take my business elsewhere or not. Rite Aid was bankrupt once. I feel they are headed for the same here. I really gave it a try. I have been patient. I read Mr. Bartell's "goodbye letter." Wow. He could have said "thanks for the memories." Instead, he praised Rite Aid for how great they are. His words have tarnished the Bartell name forever. It's so sad that I now have to spend a great deal of time looking for another pharmacy. Alas, it will be worth it. I'll save you the anguish...The new Bartell's has been the worst experience each and every time I've dealt with them since the transition. Good riddance!! read more

Rx are never ready when they say they will be. They seem to not start working on them until you arrive. While not alway busy visually their excuse is that it's been very busy. It is difficult working with them on insurance coverage. Service levels have plummeted since RiteAid bought them out. read more

My review is specifically for Bartell's pharmacy-store 56 Bartell North Admiral Neighborhood. Received my flu shot and it's been it was a wonderful experience. I had MINA and he administered in my arm and didn't even feel it. He had a wonderful personality to relax a person who does not like needles or inoculations. I still always receive them annually because I know it's the right thing to do for the community at large and for my own protection MINA made it into a pleasant experience by being lively and engaging. This is the slowest pharmacy. Showed up 2 hours after my prescription was called in, which I know it was because it's my sister. Beverly tried to find it after having me repeat name and birthday multiple times then asked me 3 times if I had ever been there.... she doesn't pay attention. Then still can't find the prescription. When she called in the prescription her phone call was dropped, she was put on hold and transferred 4 times then finally got through. I had her call a second time and she was on hold for over 10 minutes to find out from MYSELF that they had the rx the entire time because they asked me to verify the prescribers name. Bruh, how does a pharmacy manage to suck so bad? I'm a lifelong Bartell's customer, and recently switched to this location reluctantly from the lower Queen Anne one (which consistently had great service) due to moving to WS. Mind you they were a WAY busier location too, but managed to always have things together. This Admiral Way Bartell's location has been terrible each time I've had to pick up an RX. Either they don't pick up the phone, or if I leave a voicemail they don't return messages, and leave automated ones weeks later. Or when they say an rx is/will be ready and you arrive to pick up, it actually isn't ready. The lady at the pharmacy counter also isn't very friendly or helpful. I now drive a few miles further to the Alaska Junction Bartell's, which so far has been provided the great Bartell's service I'm used to. Grr - those that gave this wonderful place 2 stars, you are bad and you should feel bad! But for real... I decided to drive for instacart on the side and had to swing by this place for an order that was placed. I had never been to this location and after a few minutes of looking for a certain product, I caved and asked an associate where it might be located as I'm ranked on time it takes to aquire things. The associate was extrememly helpful, and after we located the item he asked what else I was looking for. He then proceeded to guide me through the isles with lightening speed and got me out of the location within 5 minutes, which meants my whole order only took 10 minutes to deliver; that ended in a big tip from the buyer! The store was neat, pleasant, and not too busy. What lovely service. I'll be shopping at this Bartells in the future to ensure Mr. Nice guy keeps his Mr. Nice job. read more

I have been coming here for the last 2 years to pick up my medications and for the most part haven't had a serious issue yet so from some of these 1 star comments perhaps you're not doing something right or your expectation meter is too high. I have yet to be at any pharmacy where it was perfect. Often times it's the Dr's fault or nurses for not calling the medication in. Yes, there can be a bit of a wait at times or prescriptions not quite ready but I think people need to relax a bit and go in with a different mind set. Every single time I try to get my usual prescriptions filled at Bartells - either the admiral or jefferson square location, I end up in tears, CRYING, jumping through various hoops and even then I don't get them on time. Every issue mentioned by all the other reviewers in the past recent months is exactly what I've been dealing with as well. Today I waited on hold on for 56 minutes before I was suddenly disconnected out of nowhere. I leave voicemails, I have my doctor send prescriptions with early fill dates and every time I go to the pharmacy in person, ready to pick up, there's either another issue or they haven't even started it. But other Rx's that I just picked up a week prior are suddenly being filled and ready for me? It makes ZERO sense. The Jefferson Square location told me my prescription was at the admiral location and they didn't open until 11am, so they had to wait for the pharmacy to open before they could fill it at their location. I told the woman, Sofie, on the phone that I had just called the admiral location and the pharmacy IS open (it was 10:15am) and "Sofie" just blew right past that saying NO THEY OPEN AT 11AM we cant do anything until they open. It's absolutely ridiculous. This isn't a Target with long lines and maybe bad customer service, we're talking about people's medications. Medicine, prescribed to them that they NEED, often times to survive. Transferring to Walgreens as soon as I'm able to actually get a hold of someone to get my medications transferred. Wish it wasn't the 10th time I showed up several hours after my dr had called in the prescription to their pharmacy and was told "it'll be a while, we haven't started it." Today was the last straw. 2 cars were helped at the drive through, as i waited for someone to help me. The worker finished those two and then wandered around the pharmacy a bit. I continued to wait. 2 more cars came to the window and were quickly helped at the drive through. I continue to wait. I finally ask if it "would be best to use the drive through to get helped" when they come over and helped me. I gave my name and DOB when predictably, "it hasn't been started and will be a bit." I moved to Seattle a few months ago and needed a pharmacy. Bartell was the closest one with a drive through, so I had my prescription transferred there. I usually go in, tho, because it's just so darn fun! They have almost anything you might need: hangers & trash cans, brooms & wine, hair brushes & printer paper, snacks & chocolate. In a nutshell, inept to mediocre service, nice people though. I've been using this pharmacy for about four years, since I moved to West Seattle. The parking lot is a disaster, but it's conveniently located across from Met Market. My last (emphasis on last) encounter with them involved calling in to get the status on an Rx that was sent in on a Monday. I called Tuesday, left a voice mail, didn't get a call back. Did the same on Friday and again on Saturday. Still no returned call. I finally went in on Saturday afternoon and was told the Rx form hadn't come in. I then called my doctor, and she had messed up and not hit send. Today I got a text message saying that XYZ*** was available for delivery, and another saying my Rx was ready for pickup. So I went in and they had another Rx for me, but not the XYZ***, which is what I really needed. They said it might arrive tomorrow. Might. Not getting the Rx order had nothing to do with this pharmacy, but their complete lack of customer service regarding callbacks is maddening. In fact the only reason I called to check is that regardless of when you come in, they magically discover the Rx lying on a fax machine somewhere and then you get to wait at least an hour while they fill it. The new delivery texts are super-confusing. Why offer delivery of a med the store doesn't eve have? They weren't always like this, but service there has taken a nose-dive over the last six months or so. Time to find a new pharmacy. read more

They send texts and emails saying my rx is ready and I arrive to pick up and they act like they have no idea what I'm talking about. My Doctor calls in an rx and they tell me at the pharmacy it will be ready at a given date/time. When I go for pick up they act like they never got any info. Pharmacy is slow. They hang up on you when you call.... I have to call the stores main line just to get a live person on the phone from the pharmacy. Easily the worst pharmacy I've ever used. I have been filling here for a year due to location and finally have decided to move to admiral Safeway or Pharmaca. Super long to fill a Rx, terrible customer service, general incompetence all the way around. One Sunday night I needed a Rx filled 30min before closing(which was my bad), the pharmacist told me they didn't have it in stock (doubtful since it's a very common Rx that has been in stock the previous 11months I've filled there, I think she just wanted to go home) and that I should try the 24hr Walgreens in Burien....why she would suggest a competitor in another city is beyond me, but I ended up just calling the 24hr Queen Anne Bartells(which is excellent) and filling there. I have been loyal to this Bartell pharmacy for more years than I can remember. I had been hearing rumblings of trouble in the pharmacy but had not experienced any problems personally until the last two weeks. I called in my refills through their auto refill system. Refills were accepted and would be ready the next day according to the system. Yesterday evening on way home from work I went in person, waiting in line with 7 people ahead of me, after 10 min in line found out my prescription had not been filled pharmacist said she would get it done asap and within moments my phone texted me it was ready. Yay! Went back and saw that there were now 9 people in line. I did not have time to wait again so decided I would just come back today instead. Went through drive thru this time - 4 cars ahead of me. Gave up. Came into store. Line long. Had an appointment so gave up again. I have now been out of my medication for 2 days on a medication that I called in 5 days earlier that was supposed to be ready 4 days earlier. I do not blame the staff for this. It is clearly a system failure somewhere and the staff is facing the customers that have to be told that their prescriptions are not ready as expected. My review is not the first one to mention any of these issues! Why is this happening and when will it be corrected? I stopped into this store on my way home to grab a specific hair product. I walked into the store the security alarm sounded. I walked directly to the aisle that should have carried my hair product. They did not have the specific item I was looking for, so I turned around and walked out of the store. On my way out, the alarm sounded again. I noticed one of the staff members using his cell phone to snap a picture of me and my car, so I walked back into the store to find out if there was some reason he was taking a picture of me. I was told that he saw me put something in my purse and accused me of stealing. I did not. He actually saw me grab my keys out of my purse. Out of the four or five people standing near the front door the staff member decided I was the person that was stealing. I live about two mins away from this store. I now feel criminalized and no longer feel comfortable shopping here. CHECK YOUR BIASES BARTEL'S!! BETTER YET! Train your staff not to profile innocent people!! read more

I want to amend my comment from a few months ago- this drug store has turned around famously for me lately- KB is great- just caught her on a bad day I was having and Brandon and Beverly ate all very pro! 5 star highly recommended! Robert Clarke I erased an amended review earlier in a negative light but I take that recent one back as I have a new state of mind - Brandon the store manager goes out of his way despite work coming out of his ears - he stops and listens and calls back and maintains a professional demeanor- very refreshing - I think most of the staff means well also - with Brandon at the helm I think their service will continue to improve . I didn't like some of the boundary issues when I had to pick up my partners meds , my partner and I both have been coming here for years and they know us both , but my partner authorized me to pick up her meds and she got resistance from whom ever was working like - I was going to steal them or leave them accountable for a lost or misdelivetd rx. Silly. But they bounce back every time for us and there is something to creating a first name basis with your pharmacy- it's like cheers - I'm sure I drive some of them crazy demanding or seeming entitled - don't mean to be . Just s response to the occasional attitude , but I recommend here - Jefferson square Bartells is a madhouse and this one is getting busier , so hurry up and get your drugs!!
