I've been returning to Bartholomew over the years. They switch their menu around and sometimes have seasonal or limited items, so I'm always interested to try. This time, I really enjoyed the pistachio raspberry croissant. Nutty meets tart in a blissful union, encased in their signature flaky pastry. The pain au chocolat, however, was a little disappointing -- it wasn't super chocolatey. Prices are a little on the expensive side, but they do offer some of the best baked goods (IMHO) in the GTA. And then there's the elusive ragu pizza - when spotted, you HAVE to get it! Its harmonious blend of meaty richness with a tomato's tang is a reminder of why I keep coming back for more. There are no seats for dine-in, and the place is run with factory-like efficiency. Service is fast, and I like that they double-check your order before handing you the bag. They run two checkout lines at a time now, so don't be intimidated by the lineup -- it goes fast! read more

I had the tiramisu croissant and I have to say I wasn't a fan of the pastry but I did love the filling. It tasted exactly like a tiramisu cake and it was delicious. I also got a pistachio cake and it is very decadent but interesting at the same time. It's definitely not your traditional crust, it was more chewy, not sure what it was made out of. I went on a Sunday and it was extremely busy, many people ordering and ordering for others. It did take over an hour so if you don't have a lot of time, you may not want to stop in. read more

Walk in shop. No seating. Mostly baked goods. Few coffee and tea options. The twice baked croissant was not so much of a croissant but more of a Kouign-amann. Inside had a pillowy type filling but not the paste you would be used to in an almond croissant. Also it didnt taste too almondy and it was a little greasy. Leaves a funny feeling in your stomach. The " chewy" cookie was pretty big but was extra thin, overly sweet, and uncooked in some places....but not chewy. They look like they have some cool cruffins like Cookies n Cream. I first discovered this place during pandemic and it's been the only place for a good croissant. Having said that everything they bake is devine. Some of favourites like Pullman bread and pizza are terribly missed as they got rotated out but they continue to provide such good pastries, sandwiches and breads. Came across this hidden gem in the industrial area, and so glad we tried a couple things! They make their croissant pastries in house, so we tried: Twice Baked Almond (5/5) - absolutely COATED with TOASTED almond slivers and the most delicious custardy-almondy filling Seasonal Berry stuffed (5/5) - with a sweet berry compote and same custardy filling Mortadella and provolone (3/5) Cruffin (2/5) - dense with a very basic cinnamon glazed icing I actually don't like croissants because of how flaky and messy they are to eat. This has got to be one of the best bakeries in the province if not the country. Tucked away in a commercial area, Bartholomew Bakery has talented chefs serving up freshly made artisanal bread and pastries using great quality ingredients and excellent technique. What we ordered: * Butter croissant * Parm/Garlic/Herb Braid * Coffee canelé * Twice baked almond croissant * Espresso filled croissant Everything we tried was perfect in terms of flavour and texture. Their croissants are laminated beautifully and have a perfect structure. I went on a Sunday morning and surprisingly there were no lineups. I was told it gets very busy so I was just happy that it wasn't busy for me lol I bought the twice baked pistachio and almond croissants and honestly for me they were a solid 10/10 not too sweet just the perfect amount! I love how flakey and crispy they are and just amazing! I will definitely be going back again. And again. Fyi there is no seating it's just a pick up spot but the service is lovely! I stopped by because I wanted to find bakery items while on a trip in Vaughan. I was pleasantly surprised with this bakery. It is small and you can't sit down and do any work or hang out. It seems like it's meant to be more of a pick-up bakery spot. My pastry was amazing!! I've never had a baked good like this in my life--I'll be dreaming about this croissant. I've been to Bartholomew Bakery a few times now. I would not know that it's here if not for Yelp. It's a small bakery and coffee shop that is take-out only. When I'm out grocery shopping in the area and craving a little pick-me-up, I swing by the bakery. I've had their vanilla latte, which is excellent. I find that it's best with a little bit of sugar and depending on the cashier, they may ask if you want a bit of sweetness or not. Their croissants are huge! The pistachio croissant is topped with pistachio bits and filled with a pistachio filling. I found the filling to be very sweet. My favorite was the almond croissant, which like the pistachio croissant, has very sweet almond paste filling. I also like the pain au chocolat, which isn't as sweet as the croissants and doesn't lack in the chocolate filling. read more

*Disclaimer: My review is based on being a recipient of the product only. I have no firsthand experience in person at the shop. 3.5 rounded to 3.* My friend dropped in and brought a half dozen pastries from here. Two were in separate paper bags for herself and her son, as she wasn't expecting me to be available for a visit, but she wanted to leave the other four for me and my family to enjoy, as she had heard good things about the place and wanted to share. I noticed as soon as she handed me the bag that ... well, there were 4 pastries wandering around in this bag. She also said the staff told her that the "savoury" pastries were at the bottom ... but, there were no savoury pastries at all. She got: 2 of the same pistachio filled croissants; 1 almond filled croissant (which she would have taken 2 of instead of the pistachio dupe if she had known); 1 plain croissant; 1 pistachio danish, and 1 sugar iced puff pastry. From the recipient customer service end of things, there should have been a box for the 4 meant to be given to someone else. Also, maybe it's not as bad as when you ask for all birthday cake Timbits but you get 3 or 4 out of a box of 20, or maybe the staff's diction isn't too good, but I certainly would have liked to try a savoury ham pastry, or at least an espresso filled one, instead of being fobbed with all the pistachio heavy inventory they had at the moment. Well now that the bad news is out of the way, the good news is that these pastries are DELICIOUS. These puffy goodies are so flaky, I found myself dreading having to clean up afterwards. I don't know if they use butter or refrain from using dairy but I was a little surprised by the way the pistachio danish didn't have any "bowl" in the centre; rather, it had a sort of dollop of something like caramel icing sort of floating on the top of it, which reminded me of a donut. Make no mistake though, this is flaky, puffy, crispy, crunchy sheet pastry through and through. I wound up giving the lone almond croissant to my friend but I'm figuring it's the same format as the pistachio ones i.e. a chopped nut filling almost like baklava in the middle, and topped with slivered nuts and icing sugar. If you are taking any of these to go, make sure you have the willpower not to eat them all in one sitting. As it is, I'm glad my friend made the comment about the almond croissant and I sent it with her, because I've already had a second one now, and have to find some handcuffs or a lockbox before I polish off the last 2 in the bag before my husband comes home! read more

Who would have thought that from an industrial area of Vaughan would originate such delicious bread and viennoisseries? Bartholomew Bakery has been baking bread, cookies and pastries as a wholesaler for other GTA cafés and businesses since before pandemic. During the pandemic they branched out into social media and contactless deliveries, which is how I first encountered them. Several months ago they closed that delivery side of their business and are firmly based now out of their brick and mortar bakery. The bakery is fairly sizeable but the actual customer/retail space is small. With distancing observed, about 5-6 people can be accommodated in the space but there is no seating available. We visited on a Saturday at 1:30pm. While they were sold out of loaves of bread, they still had a decent selection of their pastries including two kinds of caneles, a few savoury croissants, pain au chocolat, twice baked almond croissant, and a London Fog croissant. They also sell savoury and sweet pies. We purchased the three latter treats as well as a coffee canele and an americano with oat milk. Americano: They use Demelo coffee. The americano was nice and strong but the flavours were rounded out by the oat milk. Coffee canele: Enjoyed the caramelized exterior and soft interior, with a generous amount of coffee custard within the canele. Delicious! Pain au chocolat: This was pretty sizeable. I appreciate the design of the pastry, and the presence of a not just one but a few pieces of dark chocolate. Twice baked almond croissant: This is huge, and filled with a very generous amount of almond paste and sliced almonds on top! When warmed up gently in the oven, the exterior crisped up while enhancing the sweetness, nuttiness and butteriness of the croissant.Two thumbs up! London Fog croissant: This was amazing! I really enjoyed the strong earl grey custard cream contained within the croissant. The rich cream topping the croissant had a sprinkle of either nutmeg or pumpkin spice and was not sweet, but IMO there was just too much of it. Highly recommend this! Will definitely be back to try more of their breads and viennoisseries! read more

My pictures aren't the best looking but I wanted to show the insides. I would not recommend this as a grab and eat in your car kind of place; you need to sit down and really enjoy and appreciate it (everything was reheated at home because I like my pastries warm). Chicken pot pie - there was no saucy goop or too much fillers inside; the chicken pieces were so tender and flavorful. Caramelized onion and bacon scroll - I hate onions but these were mild and caramelized so beautifully, and the bacon was not too salty and was a bit sweet - the flavours were so delicate and it actually really highlighted the pastry itself. Ginger molasses cookie - diameter as big as 1/2 the cheese braid. Better than Starbucks? DEFINITELY. Canales - we actually went there for the purpose of buying these - normally these things wouldn't catch my eye but I've tried them from a different bakery before and fell in love and these had the wonderful crust and the middle was beautifully soft. Cheese braid - I had to cut in 1/2 because it was just too big for the plate; Flakey and buttery and cheesy. Drool. Blueberry and almond twice baked - look at how tall it was!!! And it was heavy!!! Filled with a very mild almond paste (I wouldn't really say marzipan because it was so delicate and not very sweet, but not bland at all) and blueberries added the perfect amount of sweetness - also giving highlight to the pastry. read more

Oh baby. The croissants here are unreal. The pastry is so flaky, crispy and insanely delicate. It took me 2 trips to finally get some because the first time the line was unbelievable. Moved SO slowly I'm not sure why. Couldn't stick around but was successful the next time around. Staff are friendly and polite. Space is clean and small. Was in the area and was killing time so looked up this bakery on they map they have a small selection counter and coffee which I needed desperately so grabbed a flat white and I saw the piping hot sausage roll on the rack in the back and had to have one , it was huge very meaty at $6 bucks kind of pricey but it hit the spot for a quick breakfast they also have croissants cookies and loafs of bread read more

Such a neat and clean croissant factory plus quick service joint for croissants, sourdough breads, pies and coffee. The person at counter was polite and will take out time to make recommendations. As a first timer, he recommended us butter croissant and since we are vegetarian, he recommended a patty stuffed with spinach and feta. Loved both of these. It was flaky wonder with soft inside. Although patty was cold, but he recommended against heating in microwave. Hence we brought home to heat in air-fryer to keep it crisp. Got coffees too on the go, found those to be priced higher. But a 5-star rating for croissant and patty! Will be back to try much-talked about Almond Croissant. read more

Visit this bakery since i work in the area. Initially, I was doing a coffee run for the office and I wanted to try a new place. When I arrived, I saw all of their croissants and pies and i had to try them. I bought a chicken pot pie from their already made fridge - LOVED IT.
